I have purchased Netgear WNDR3700 v3 dual band router. I have set up the router according to all the settings. I tried to access wifi through my ACER 5734z Laptop.....But all i can see is only the 2.4 Ghz signal and no 5ghz signal. My wireless adapter is BROADCOM 802.11 Driver ver. 5.60.48.35

Since yesterday evening, my Toshiba Satellite Laptop (L505D-ES5025) hasn't been able to register my wireless network, though it registered it perfectly fine yesterday morning. I can only detect the local area connection, and can only connect to the internet via the ethernet cable (which is what I'm using right now).Even when I go to the "Change Adapter Settings" from Control Panel, it won't detect the wireless network that I use. The other computers/laptops in the house work, but this one can't regiester to it, even though it's the closest to the router. When I troubleshoot the problem, the only solution is to use the ethernet cable, but I can't depend on it since the whole point of using a wireless connection is to go wireless.I have tried the Control Panel solution of going to the device manager, but I can't find the wireless network from there. This Toshiba computer also doesn't have a physical WLAN button; rather hot keys are used (though when I use this, it doesn't anyways).I also tried to find the drivers for it to update, but those won't either update, or they do update but nothing happens. In other words, I can't do anything because my laptop can't find ANY networks whatsoever except for the one that is found after I connect it to the ethernet cable.My OS is Windows 7, 64-bit Home Premium.

However, at his house it's not connecting. I'm currently trying to get model numbers, etc to try and figure it out but in the meantime I was wondering what things to check while waiting on that information? His phone and my sisters laptop connected to the wifi just fine(so he says) but his laptop won't.
I find out but I plan on going over there after work(45 minute drive) and wanted to have a list of things to check so I don't have to do it in multiple trips.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy ancient HP desktop connects to the network via wired connection. My laptop connects wirelessly (usually). Both have very strong signals from the router and the desktop connects to the internet just like always, but the laptop isn't getting the internet signal. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5534 (Costco special) and the router is a Linksys Simultaneous Dual Band N-type. The only real significant thing that was done on the laptop was to install Adobe Shockwave Player with Norton Scan. I already have McAfee on the laptop tho, so I uninstalled the Norton. I'm going to do a system restore in a moment.

It appears to work, says it's connected but shows no other computers & they don't show this one.The laptop is an Acer Travelmate 2428, running Win7 Professional. My 2 wirelessly networked PCs are running on WinXP & the printer is connected physically to one of those. The router/modem is an Edimax. In XP it talks about 'home networks' whereas Win7 has 'homegroups'. I've used the wizard to 'manually connect to a wireless network' which is how I networked the PCs. I've also tried all other options in the 'Network & Sharing Centre' including the troubleshooter which when 'troubleshooting network problems' only tells me my clock is not right. In the network & sharing centre under 'view your active networks it says 'home network' & next to homegroup says 'joined'.

Everytime, I turn on the ADSL2+ wireless modem router, it connects to the internet and my laptop gets paired with the wireless network but after 30 mins time, wireless ADSL2+ router restarts itself and goins in a loop for nearly 5 times and then it gets connected to internet but then I cannot connect my laptop to the the router using wireless with error DHCP failed to assign IP but DHCP is enabled in the router. This has started since a month and I had tried several network change settings but nothing has given me a solution. I do use Kaspersky IS through which the connection flows in. My internet setting is set to use Automatic DNS discovery and most time, I get RC 102 DHCP error.
When downloading files using chrome I keep getting "unknown network error" before the download is complete. Why is this happening and what can I do about it? I am using vista on an acer aspire 5535 laptop. I tried using internet explorer a few times instead but it has also happened there.

Is there a configuration setting to change what frequency laptops can recognize? This would lead me to believe that the issue is with her computer but her computer can connect to other wifis in the area...just not her own. I am not sure what is causing this...it may be that program "Acer eNet Management" but that still doesn't explain why she can connect to other wifis and not her own. Is there maybe a compatability issue with netgear and her wifi card?

I am trying to download some stuff and the download speed drops below 10kb/s. The internet speed is very temperamental as it can be fine for a minute and then it will suddenly drop really low. If I disconnect from and reconnect to the network the speed will be high again then it will drop really low again. If I am connected via an ethernet cable the speed is fine and does not drop at all.My ISP is Orange, and I am using an Acer 8930G laptop. Some of my flat mates are experiencing this as well but some aren't. I was wondering whether or not it could just be a laptop thing or a router thing. The speed can drop that low that I can not even browse web pages.

This happened a few months ago, and I had recently switched to a new router. I know this question has been asked before, but I've tried all the non-specific solutions, and non of them worked.
Also it won't even connect when I use a non-wireless, ie cable, connection.
I have an ACER Aspire 1830 (netbook) and has 3g build in according to the teacher, and it obviously is in because the sim has been put in the laptop (The scrap is in the box from the sim). Everytime I try to use it it says that my APN is incorrect.
I have taken a few steps to try and fix this:
1. I have changed the APN to all of the possible ones from Telstra (telstra.internet, telstra.data, etc.), and none of them seemed to have worked.
2. I asked a friend who has the same laptop whos 3g IS working to check the details on his laptop, and there is no APN or user/pass in his laptop.
