I would like to add a second router to an existing modem that would supply data from an IP camera to an external source. I want this router to have no interaction with the existing router/network.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchaseda trendnet 692 GR router because I understood that I would be able to stream from let's say my computer to my TV that is up the stairs. Here is the problem. I did get the router to use my existing 2Wire 2701HG modem.Yes I can connect my Samsung 6100 to the wireless 2Wire but I thought the trendnet setup would work the best.I and Trendnet support set up my router and media bridge and the two do work but my tv won't work through the MB. I have connected to the network but the next part of the connection (the internet) won't connect. I have tried different IP settings that I thought would connect but nothing so far has worked.Also I have taken a 50' ethernet cablefrom the trendnet router to the tv and I do get a connection.I have also taken a laptop through the media bridge and connected to the trendnet router.The customer service at trendnet can't take this to the next level(which is a$40 one session professional service)

Reason in buying a new one is because currently the dlink router is in the family room use to be a garage and my wifes imac is in our bedroom the couple rooms down not next door or anything, and the imac and even our smartphones when in our beedroom the connection gets disconnected then reconnected etc etc, basically signal strenth is low intialy when connected to the router.

So downstairs i have a netgear g router, this is then hardwired to a switch, from there i have another cable running upstairs and into my d link router.I am using snow Leopard OS, and using VMWare was able to use the quick setup on the associated disc but could only reach the stage where i connect my ethernet to router before it would display an error message stating it was unable to find a router.I then tried manually setting up the router online using

but was unable to get a working connection running over the wireless and i was only able to give this page when hardwired to the d link router.
I have an E1000 router and recently moved to a basement apartment where the only internet access comes from a single Ethernet cable running out of a router upstairs. I can connect to that network (it is family) but ideally I would like to connect my router and create a second network so that I can connect my printer and other devices independently of the upstairs network.

We want to however connect 2 desktop pc's to the same network so that they have internet access also. These 2 desktops have been connected to the wireless router via wireless dongles, but due to some office arrangements we have to move them to a different office in the building where there is network ports available.I plugged in a D-Link 5-port Gigabit desktop switch to the network point in the office the 2 desktop pc's are moving to and tested it with my laptop (with wireless disabled) to see if everything is working.The LAN seems to be working fine, but when I want to connect to the internet.. it seems something is wrong.

- DHCP active
- Wireless MAC filter is enabled with only approved MAC's
- Wireless SID Broadcast is disabled
The secondary Router WRT54GS V1 (Router B) will be located down stairs with no Ethernet cable between the two routers.
- Will need this secondary router to connect to the existing wireless network Router A wirelessly.
- Will need to have internet access.

Added a wireless router to our office here so that people with laptops could get on the net without having to physically plug in. Right now it is ok, but the router is acting as it's own DHCP server instead of our server here assigning out the IP's.
The main gripe I have is I can only login to the router through my phone and not through my computer. How can I achieve this. We have multiple offices that all connect through a VPN. I would like our sys admin to access the router at his location as well.
Do I just turn off DHCP on the router and thats it? The model is Netgear WNDR4500.
I'm trying to set up my desktop using windows xp and a wireless belkin n150 f9k1001 router to connect to a wireless network that is being sent from a mac with some tp-link router so that I can connect to the internet the isp is bell aliant. I have done all the troubleshooting with Comcast and with Motorola and it is out of warranty, so I will have to purchase a new one.In the mean time, I wanted to use it only as a wireless router connected to my Scientific Atlanta DPC2100R2 modem. Is there anyway to do this? Is there a way to disable the modem in the SBG901? Simply connecting with the ethernet cords has not worked. I connected the DPC2100 to the SBG901 via ethernet cord. My computer was able to pick up a wireless connection but there is no cable connection.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just bought a Netgear WNDR4000 router due to troubles with my current modem/router combo (D-Link DSL2730-B). The router doesnt have in built modem functionality obviously so I need to set up the modem/router as a dedicated modem.Also should I use the current modem/router as the dedicated modem or an older model i own (I think its a DSL 502T)? Because the current one often drops the internet connection. Don't know if its a problem with the modem functionality or something else. Will the older one serve better since i didn't have any problems with that one or will it be outdated? I only upgraded due it not having wireless capabilities. Otherwise it's fine.Or will I be even better off buying a dedicated modem? I really don't want to spend more money but if this is a far better alternative I guess i will.
EDIT: Ok so found out that I have to put the modem/router in bridge mode in order for this to be possible. However, looking up how to do this lead me to a dead end because i need to fill in some fields that i have no idea how to interpret.
