Jun 17, 2012

I currently reformatted my Alienware laptop with the window7 64bit which was provided with my laptop at purchase. Now after I finish formatting the laptop I was missing a lot of programs like the dell ones and the Alienware software which change the colour of my desktop and so on... Is there a way of getting these programs back ?

Dell :: Maintaining Connection (wired) On Alienware M11x

Mar 13, 2012

I recently bought an alienware m11x from Dell. The laptop is in perfect working order as expected. For the first few days I used only wireless connection. This connection was perfectly sound and worked a treat. However upon returning to my halls of residence I have been forced to use an ethernet connection, as they charge extra for the wireless. I had used the Ethernet connection for a long time with my previous netbook (Aspireone) and had no problems with connectivity. This is typically how the connection works:

 1. Laptop turned on

2. Connected to internet (fast connection)

3. A short time later still connected to internet (slower / broken up connection)

4. Disconnected from internet (says cable unplugged)

5. Laptop restart fixes this issues (or restarts it to stage 1)

I am not technically great, but a flatmate of mine has attempted to solve the issue with no success, and recommended i contact dell.

Alienware M18x / Wifi Internet To New Laptop Is Slow?

Jan 3, 2013

I just bought an alienware M18x, and set it up a few days ago. all of the drivers are up to date. Yet my internet is still slow (about half the time). I run a speed test, and it says my download speed is 0 mbps for a few moments, then it skyrockets and averages out to about 8. The upload speed is more consistent, but only at 0.3 mbps. I have centurylink at up to 12, and they've told me that the connection itself is fine.

Dell :: Alienware M14x Disconnects Internet Randomly

Nov 12, 2012

I just got the Alienware m14x r2 few days ago. I checked everything and there was nothing bad with my new laptop.

But today, I realized that my laptop disconnected internet randomly while I was gaming or browsing, then it automatically reconnected after 20 or 30 seconds. Sometime it could not reconnect internet, and I had to do it manually !!!!

I searched how to fix this issue from the Internet. Most people said that this problem was caused by  my router, but I don't think so because my old laptop and my phone still worked well and did not have the same problem with my new laptop !!!

My wireless card: Killer wireless-N 1202, and I updated the lasted driver version.

Dell :: Alienware M17 R3 Laptop - Cannot Detect Any Nearby Networks

Jul 1, 2012

I have a Alienware M17 R3 laptop with the 1103 wireless card running windows 7.  Until recently I have not had reason to use the Wi-Fi, though when I enabled the card I found that I could not detect any nearby networks.

I have checked the device manager for errors and have found none.  I have noticed that the BigFoot connenction manager does not seem to detect the network card.

Should I reinstall the card driver and the BigFoot helper?

What software might conflict with the wi-fi card?  What services should I check to make they are running?

Dell :: Alienware M17X-R3 Unable To Connect To Wireless Networks

Sep 13, 2012

I have an Alienware M17X-R3 and I’ve been experiencing several networking problems with it recently- most importantly that I can’t connect to any wireless network. It detects all the networks in the area, but when I select and try to connect to one nothing happens. I can still use a wired Internet connection, though. “Troubleshoot problems” or “Diagnose” just tells me that I have no preferred wireless networks. When I go to the Network and Sharing Center, the “Set up a new connection or network” button doesn’t do anything. When I go from there to “Manage Wireless Networks” the “Add” button doesn’t do anything.

I’ve tried disabling and enabling my DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card, and reinstalling the drivers. I’ve disabled the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” option on all my network devices. I’ve used a system restore. I’ve run a scan with Malwarebytes and my computer had crashed by the time I looked at it again thirty or so minutes later; it had tried to restart but was unable to because there was “No bootable device”. I powered it off and started it up again and it worked fine. I also ran a Superantispyware scan that completed successfully without finding anything and immediately crashed, but restarted normally.

A few other things that may or may not be related:

-When I boot I get a message that says “Could not reconnect all network drives”

-When I booted I used to get a message from GoogleCrashHandler64.exe that said “C:Windowssystem32dbghelp.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.” When I went to msconfig and disabled all non-Microsoft processes under services and startup I no longer got the message.

Dell :: Windows Update Stops LAN And WAN Adapters On Alienware M14X

Sep 30, 2012

I just bought an alienware M14x and about 3 weeks after i set it up the LAN and WAN adapters stopped working and i couldn't get a wireless connection or hardwired connection.

I called technical support and they informed me it was due to a generic windows update that wasn't really compatible with my alienware machine. So i did a system restore and now its working fine and i disabled automatic updates.

Its been about a month since then and now I have all these updates that need to be downloaded and I'm not sure which one will cause my network adapters fail again.

Programs Cannot Connect To Net

Sep 27, 2011

I can connect to the internet through the browser (firefox, ie). i can also perform updates or connect through utorrent. Still, there are many programs that cannot connect and i don't think they need any kind of port forwarding. For example, avast cannot update, BS player and media player classic cannot connect to the subtitles database etc. I tried uninstalling any security related software:comodo firewall, avast antivirus, adaware, spybot and the problem persists. obviously, there is something blocking their access.

I've changed nothing between the time these programs connected perfectly fine to the time they stopped working which was about 9 hours or so, got home from college and everything was messed... The list of prgrams that won't connect properly are: Skype, World of warcraft, Steam The ones that do work are: firefox, Curse, Teamspeak, MSN

I've run malware bytes and spybot S&D twice and 1 time for each in safe mode, they found 2 files which were not even much fo a threat, after removing them this problem still happens

My step dad can run steam and skype fine on his machine which is on the same connection as me and we both use Ethernet cables in the same router I've disabled my firewall to see if that makes a change, and nothing did

None of the programs on my laptop that require an internet connection are able to connect . The only browser that works is Internet Explorer 64-bit. I have tried using my parents' and school's wireless but the problem still exists which suggests that the problem is within my laptop. I checked my firewalls, proxy settings and I tried unplugging myy router and modem. I would like to get this fixed because I am tired of dealing with IE and there are a bunch of games I've got to get to. My OS is Windows 7.

Two Internet Connections - Assigning Certain Programs To One Of Them?

May 4, 2012

For over a month I am trying to find a way that makes me able to use two internet connections at the same time, and assign certain programs to one connection. This is because me and my brother do game on the ADSL cause of the low latency of it, when one of us do surf the whole connection lags. I do have 2 internet connections at home, one is ADSL(1.5MB Connection) and one is WiMAX(10MB Connection). Both of these routers/modems are connected to the same network. I want to use the ADSL for gaming(light usage) and the WiMAX one for browsing and downloading(heavy usage).

I came up with three ways:

1) ForceBindIP - (1) (2) - Didn't work for me with Windows 7 64bit on Firefox 12.0

2) Using VMWare - Which I do not want to.

3) Using Astaro Security Gateway Home Edition - Which is a bit complicated and I have to run a dedicated PC for it with special setup in order to make it work (Live Demo)

Programs Randomly Disconnect While Others Stay Connected

May 21, 2012

The issue is a odd one, I will be playing a game League of Legends, Star Craft 2, Diablo 3, or Tera and I am in Team speak then about 5 minutes to an hour I get "Connection has been lost". I am either booted from the game or Team speak, never both. It's completely random when this happens and at times it takes a while (10mins at the longest) for me to log back into what ever program I have been disconnected from other times the reconnection is instant. I have gone through forums, talked to support for the games, had my ISP come out and test my lines and replace my modem and network card, Ping tested, Speed tested and the results were stellar, but I still have the problem and so I feel that the problem is on my end. I have a self built machine, My OS is Windows Vista 64-bit, Mobo-EVGA 132-CK-NF79 2, Processor-2.85 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad.

Programs Can't Find Internet Connection But Can Browse

Jan 9, 2012

I have a windows vista service pack 1 machine.I can browse the internet, download files, play songs, movies etc.But any program that attempts to auto update, or lets say I click a check for updates button on an antivirus program it tells me there is no internet connection.I can be online downloading a file and I might click spybots check for updates link and it tells me there is no internet connection. But it isn't just spybot, its everything. Everything that has some kind of built in check for updates fails.

adobe programs.
windows updates.
hitman pro

You name it, it doesn't see an internet connection. I can get online, download a program from the internet, install it and tell it to check for and update only to tell me there is no internet connection.I checked internet explorers connection settings to see if a virus or something had created a proxy server, nothing there.I ran ipconfig /all and checked there, nothing windows firewall is turned off, and as far as I know I don't have any other firewalls installed. There must be something in common that all these programs must use in order to get online that is somehow messed up. Could my winsock be corrupted in such a way as to allow manual downloading but not automatic?

Sharing :: Install Programs On A Remote Computer (HDD)

Oct 21, 2011

That is: that I have a slow general storage drive that is becoming full. A fast HDD for recording onto with fraps and for programs that I won't use with fraps. I then have an SSD as my main drive which gets VERY full VERY quickly. I then have another computer that has a pretty quick 1TB RAID 0 running and a gigabit network, the network being the bottleneck but still pretty damn quick (120MB/s which is plenty fast enough).

Now, what I intend to do is have my storage drive stay as is; my fraps drive to continue it's job, and then for my old computer to store my big programs to run off, things like games. Is it possible to do this as when I've tried it says I don't have permission even though I gave access to the whole HDD from the network. (I'm installing on this computer but changing to the mapped network drive for the install directory).
