Sharing :: Install Programs On A Remote Computer (HDD)

Oct 21, 2011

That is: that I have a slow general storage drive that is becoming full. A fast HDD for recording onto with fraps and for programs that I won't use with fraps. I then have an SSD as my main drive which gets VERY full VERY quickly. I then have another computer that has a pretty quick 1TB RAID 0 running and a gigabit network, the network being the bottleneck but still pretty damn quick (120MB/s which is plenty fast enough).

Now, what I intend to do is have my storage drive stay as is; my fraps drive to continue it's job, and then for my old computer to store my big programs to run off, things like games. Is it possible to do this as when I've tried it says I don't have permission even though I gave access to the whole HDD from the network. (I'm installing on this computer but changing to the mapped network drive for the install directory).

Unable To Connect To Servers

Mar 12, 2012

Intermittently, say, once or twice a day for several hours, I will be completely unable to connect to servers - I can still use the internet ok, but things such as online multiplayer games,, youtube, steam refuse to work. Some give errors saying that they are unable to connect to the servers, others claim that the server connection is fine. It happens most commonly in the early hours of the morning (GMT), if that is of any use?

Unable To Connect To Any Servers

Sep 29, 2012

I've been having this problem for the past few weeks, if not months. For a few days, or maybe around a week lol, I havent been able to connect to any Game-servers, may that be Steam, League of Legends, Guild Wars 2 or any of that. I have opened all ports, firewalls are disabled/uninstalled. I've seriously tried every single thing I've read, but I can't get anything to work. My sister can play without any problems, so I think it has something to do with my PC.

About an hour ago i had run a diagnostic report, (using my Norton 360 security program) while i scrolled down the report i came across an orange attention bubble that read "Inoperable Hardware Devices" then a chart lists hardware devices that aren't working, it looked like this:

Data Type Device Problem/ Description
-Device Type -Ethernet Controller
- Device Status -Device Drivers are not installed
(Code 28).

i tried to update the device but it doesn't work, it says that "windows was unable to install Ethernet Controller, ...Windows could not find driver software for your device"

IBM Thinkpad I1400 - Unable To Install XP To The D Drive?

Mar 12, 2012

I've spent several hours trying to see if it's even worth trying to upgrade my old Thinkpad i1400, which has Windows 98 and only a modem internet connection. Obviously in today's world it's wireless or nothing. So...I've read that I could upgrade to Windows 98SE, and on [url]... the used disk is only about $15. I also read that 98SE has a lot of glitches. However, I already have an XP disk (don't know how I got it) but it may be corrupted, because it never finishes the installation on the thinkpad---goes completely blank after about 10 minutes. One problem is the limited hard disk space on the i1400 --- about 2.5 GB for both the C and D drives respectively. There is less than 1 GB on the C drive free and XP takes up almost 800 MB. I'm afraid to wipe clean Win98 and replace it with XP, and for some reason I can't install XP to the D drive. Even if I could accomplish this, will XP be the magic bullet that gets me wireless on this dinosaur of a laptop?

Unable To Renew IP / Limited And No Connectivity?

Apr 24, 2011

So I have decided to register here and see where that gets meWhen I try to repair my wireless network connection, it gives me the error: "Unable to renew your IP address" accompanied by a little bubble that says something about limited or no connectivity. Other computers are working fine, so I doubt it's the modem. If I try to go into the cmd and type in "ipconfig/release" it says that it's already been released. Then when I type in "ipconfig/renew" it takes a while, but tells me something along the lines of "unable to connect to your DHCP server."I've tried the winsock fix and that hasn't done me any good. I've also tried: netsh winsock reset, netsh int ip reset reset.log, and netsh winsock reset catalog. All useless.[CODE]
