win 2003 dhcp server. when I leave dhcp services OFF i can ping the server fine. once i turn ON dhcp services the connecting drops in and out.. what is going on here?

What the school wants to do is setup a side-along wireless network that uses the same physical switches but on a different subnet. The current subnet is 10.172.1.x .
To facilitate this I'm running a 2008r2 running RIP V2 to route internet traffic to 192.168.1.x subnet. I've had the wireless units use a static address and their own dhcp servers on the 192.168.1.x subnet. Wireless devices found their way to the internet fine. But I'd like to control the addresses from a single point of contact, hence the 2nd domain server running 2008r2. There are reasons for using a 2nd server, I've covered this in previous topics. If it's important, lets call it an intellectual exercise and leave it at that.
The question(s) : If I run a DHCP server on the 2nd server serving 192.168.1.x addresses, then any device on the physical network will obtain either an 192. or a 10. address correct ? The wireless devices will only take a 192. address because the wan address is statically assigned to a 192. address ?
The 2nd question : By setting a static routes out of the 2nd nic on the 2nd server, I can control the dhcp server so it will ONLY route dhcp requests to the statically assigned wireless devices ?
I have downloaded the WampServer, however it is indicating that one of MySQL's Apache didn't Active yet. So how to activate all of the WampServer's services.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an EA2700 running latest firmware 1.1.38.138827. It is using Cisco Connect Cloud. I am unable to access the DHCP Reservations link under Connectivity/ Local Network. When I click on it, nothing happens. I've tried multiple browsers including IE 10 (Windows 8 RTM), Firefox 15, and Chrome 21. I also tried on a Windows 7 machine with IE 9 and the link doesn't work on that either except that it shows a box that says Invalid Character when I click on the DHCP Reservations link. I see no invalid characters on the screen. Any workaround other than downgrading the firmware or assigning static IPs on individual PCs?Also, on an unrelated note, where is the Dynanic DNS configuration on the Cisco Connect Cloud?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI work as an administrator for a small business (~30pc and a Windows 2003 R2 server ).Recently, we started to have problem with our lan, the network start to kinda lock-up randomly. For example, browsing folders is fine then you switch to one and the explorer window just do nothing (with a loading cursor) and after 4 second everything refresh and work again, then in word or any other program (sometime not even related to network files/folder) you press the save button and it do the same, do nothing for 4-5 seconds then refresh and work again.I'm positive that no process on the server take up enough CPU time to do that, it's not a per-pc problem since everybody is affected when the problem start and when I reboot the server it work like a charm for another day then the problem may restart the next day.Nothing show up in the event viewer of both PCs and the server and we can't find a correlation between the problem and high CPU/LAN usage on the server (at worse CPU is used at 10% and LAN at 2%).Our RAID controller and our SAS HDs are working flawlessly, we're in the process to change our infrastructure anyway but since I can refer to people that may know their stuff way more than myself I though Id ask here.We first though that our switches may be in cause but then why rebooting the server would be correcting the problem ?

My windows server 2003 IP is 10.60.1.3 router is 10.60.1.4, If I create a superscope with 10.60.1.* and 10.60.2.* scopes within it and add an IP address from the 10.60.2.* range to both the servers and routers network configurations would this allow the clients on both scopes to see the network? The router links our office to other offices as well would the new IP range cause all kinds of routing issues?I know with the resubnetting option changing to a 255.255.254.0 from the current 255.255.255.0 would allow the use of 10.60.0.1-10.60.1.254 in a single subnet but I suspect this would cause problems with seeing the other offices unless all routers were reconfigured to recognise our offices new subnet mask.

I just purchased a Windows 2008 server and would like to use it as my domain controller.Also, I just had a new ATT DSL line put in. It came with a 2Wire modem/4-port router/wireless router device, therefore the modem can handle DHCP. The line has a static IP address as well so that I can eventually use my own exchange server and web server.I have tried 2 different configurations and couldn't get either to work) I tried to put the router into Bridged Mode and use DHCP server on my server using a PPPoe connection to connect to the Internet. I was confused as to what my static IP address and default gateway of my server should be.2) Then I tried to turn DHCP server off on the server and routing back on the modem/router. This didn't work either.What method would you recommend and why? Also I have some additional questions on each method.

* What is the static IP address of the server. Is it in the 192.168.1.x address or the static IP assigned to my account?
* Do I need a second Nic Card And Router to connect to the rest of my network or can I use the router provide

* Will this allow me to use all internal IP addresses on my machines and use port forwarding if I want a specific box to be a web server or exchange server.

We have already having a GRE tunnel over the fast Ethernet with one of our site. Now we are observe the application working slow over the GRE tunnel. When we have removed the qos policy from the MPLS link the application are working fine.My question is why it is happning on the gre tunnel. So how to overcome the problem. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have two locations both about 800meters apart, one is my home and the other address is a campsite where i have a linked router network (WDS with routers running ddwrt) where campers can all use the internet and also i have several IP cameras. Obviously both address have different gateways and therefore their own DHCP server. Everything was running perfectly until.I linked both of my address up using a long range antenna and now i am having problems.
Sometimes the two DHCP servers are competing with each other (i need both addresses on the same subnet in order to view my IP cams from home) and sometimes the computers log on to the wrong gateway. Its very annoying because the only way i can resolve it is by turning of the "linking routers" for a minute and then the Computers log onto the correct gateway. This happens to clients both side of the bridge. I have many different clients on both side of the bridge so assigning each computer (via windows) its fixed default gateway and DNS is out of the question as some of the clients are Camper's PC's and mine and my wifes laptops swap between both locations.
Now my query is, how can i block both DCHP servers from going over the bridge? OR can i have them on both separate subnets and still view my IP camera and still access all the routers from each subnet (i need this because sometimes i need to reboot the routers from home)
I have cisco router C1700. Interface FastEthernet0 is connected to ISP and obtain public IP and DNS via dhcp.On interface FastEthernet1 is connected private network. On router is configured dhcp pool that assigns addresses to private network connected on FastEthernet1. Is there configuration that automatically add the DNS servers from my ISP into the DHCP pool?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having some issues with my network connectivity for a while now, and I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is. I run a wired connection to an Ethernet port in the wall of my university dorm. I have verified that it is not a global network issue or an ISP issue; this problem only happens on my PC.My network connection drops/disconnects randomly throughout the day. When I say disconnect/drop, I mean that all attempts to ping or access the internet fail. A few minutes pass before the Network and Sharing center task tray icon shows a warning sign saying that my computer could not connect to the internet.This is temporarily fixed by doing an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew, but I have to execute these two commands about 2-3 times a day on average.
There is no exact interval between the disconnects, nor does it happen when I am running particular programs. The disconnect happens regardless of what I am doing at the moment (gaming, browsing the internet, leaving the computer idle).A month back, I installed some Windows Updates and suddenly my internet connection was almost completely broken. I was experiencing the same issue, but much more frequently. My internet would die within 10 seconds of executing any download, but Windows wouldn't recognize that something was wrong. At first I thought the ZoneAlarm, Avast!, or the SafeConnect (as required by my university) services were causing trouble but uninstalling/disabling these services did not fix the problem.I also tried reverting to my default ethernet drivers, which did nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple versions of my drivers to no avail.However, the internet worked just fine in Safe Mode with Networking, so I cross-referenced the processes/services running in Safe Mode w/ Networking against my normal startup, guessing something else was at play.After some poking around, I discovered that disabling the Server and Browser services permanently fixed the issue of instant connection death. But the initial problem I described still remains;random, less frequent internet connection drops.
i have the following scenario that i'm requesting you guys verify if it will work.I have a 3550 catalyst switch running EMI and an auotomous 1131AG aironet ap, i have two dhcp pools already setup on the switch one for the LAN and the other for the wireless clients.There are two vlans on both the switch and ap for LAN and wireless clients.I have already setup multiple SSID's to be broadcasted from the AP, is there a way i can bind one SSID to the lan dhcp pool and the other to the wireless clients dhcp pool?

I configured DHCP pool on Cisco AP 1131, Laptop users are working fine and obtain IP address from AP 1131 DHCP Server, but IPad user is getting IP problem when he try to connect Cisco AP 1131.when i reboot the AP, IPad user getting IP address from 1131 AP dhcp server and access the network resource for the 2-3 hr after that IPad show "obtaining ip address from .....".

I'm seeing some weird behavior trying to connect my Windows XP SP3 desktop via a USB wireless to my Windows network via Linksys WRT120N Router. It is unable to connect with DHCP. "Limited or No Connectivity" is shown on the network icon and no internet connectivity is present. When i manually assign a static IP, i am able to get connectivity to browse the internet, and I am able to ping the other computers in my network, but I am unable to view the windows workgroup. I am able to manually map network drives, but those drop continually. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the connectivity and the dropping while I am using the static IP. DHCP does not work at all. I'm just trying to get this computer connected to the windows workgroup so that I can map network drives and printers once and for all. Right now the rest of the network (ethernet cabled to router) works fine. I'm thinking it may be something in the routers wireless config, as I am having the same issues (DHCP not working at all, static IP working but constantly dropping) with a Mac laptop.

The purpose is that users in vlan 1 should get an IP address from DHCP server1, and users in vlan 2 should get an IP address from DHCP server2.
