Recently I have noticed that my browser, both firefox and chrome are loading rather slowly, as well as any type of streaming media, and downloads. I have performed spyware/adware checks and haven't come up with anything major. I am kind of at a loss as to where to begin to diagnose the problem. I had not installed anything new on my pc before this started. Also my laptop that is on the same network is running fine.

Now, I want to see the Internet surfing status/activities done by any particular user/users at any time from the Server. You know that, some people enter into restricted sites which impose severe negative impact on the network. If I could trace from the Server any user of doing this, I shall block his Internet connection from the Server.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new custom computer for a friend, all top of the line parts.However, when I attempted to set up the internet connection, I had loads of trouble getting it to even connect to the internet. I finally got it to connect to the internet, but it runs extremely slow, and any type of file you try to download is just as creepily slow, to the point where it basically doesnt work. the wireless adapter being used is a 300mbps, and I'm not sure what the router is, but on another computer in the same house the internet works completely fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen having a weird problem recently, our internet normally runs around 4mb and was fine until around two months ago, when all of a sudden it started disconnecting and running really slowly. Normally around peak times, but also whenever the wife turns her laptop on.I know what you are about to say - Virus, exactly my first thought until I also noticed that whenever this happened the noise margin started jumping, or it would lose sync and resync at around 1.5mb, with high ping times and repeated dropped packets. Turning her laptop off seemed to solve dropped packets (although would stay slow and high ping times remain)We moved the laptop around the house and noticed this only happened when she sits on the sofa in the living room, bear in mind this sofa is a good 2 meters away from the nearest phone socket (which is not connected anyway) and works fine anywhere else, albeit in close proximity or not to the router / phone line.We cannot fathom why this is happening and have had a ticket open with Sky who have exhausted their capacity to resolve without fixing it.

Some of the machines are Windows 7 and some are XP Pro, but all of us are having issues connecting to web pages, especially pages with lots of pictures. If you refresh it a few times, it may pop up. Some don't ever come up, like weather.com. The server has the same issue, even if you connect it directly to the router.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a small business network that connects 3 wired pc's and 2 wireless laptops. I am running a point of sale system on the network. I recently replaced the computer I use as a server. The work stations now run the point of sale system so slowly, they almost cannot be used. Both the wired and wireless systems are running slower. Both wired workstations are running Windows XP, both the old and new "server" are running Windows 7 64 bit. Both are Pentium dual core with 6gb of RAM. The old system has a Realtek RTL8168C network card, and the new system has an Intel 82579V network card. I replaced the computer due to other hardware issues. The cable used to connect it to the router is the same. The old machine ran the workstations MUCH faster. Does this have to do with the network card, or some other setting I am missing.I tried to make all the settings exactly the same so my point of sale system would still recognize the new computer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been having trouble recently with the buffer speeds on youtube.. i use google chrome, and i have a custom built pc with high end specsmy internet connection ranges from 50mb/s to 90mb/s as shown below(i pay for 100mb/s with virgin media, but the speed varies a lot throughout the day)I run a wired connection and have tested different cables, with no success.If i clear catche/browser history ECT i get a short-term buffer speed boost, but after a few minutes the buffering becomes super slow again.people in the same house are having there videos load instantly, with computer no were near as good hardware wise as mine and using a wireless connection.i've tried a few things.. none of witch have worked.. with my speeds i should be able to watch videos in HD and have them buffer instantly.. at this point i cant even watch them in 320p.

I've tried using dd-wrt and tomatos firmware with same results. what I can do to try to fix or should I just go buy a new router? If so whats recommended that's not to expensive.

When i configure to block websites it's ok, but websites unblock to access very slowly, sometime i can't access. My company has 50 users, all most them can't access unblock sites. How can i configure it better?
I am using my Iphone 5 as a personal hotspot at home. It gets LTE so my speed is very fast as compared to satellite service from HughesNet. My laptop downloads at 12 mbs and uploads at 5 mbs versus satellite which is about 1 mbs. However, I installed a Linksys N300 usb adapter on my wife's workstation and it is actually slower than 1 mbs. The workstation is about 4 years old running on Vista. I have tried the usb adapter in all four usb slots with no change in performance.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a TP Link TL-WN722N 150mbps USB wireless adapter I use with my desktop. I've had it for about 6 months and it has been mostly fine with a few little problems. I recently went away for a few weeks and when I returned I found that my wireless adapter is running very slowly and disconecting from the router. It is an adapter problem as no one else in my house is having the same issues. When the adapter does run slowly the only way to speed it up is to unplug it and plug it in again. This puts it back to a bearable speed but usually this drops within 30 minutes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had my WRT310n for at least a year now. When I first started using it, my broadband speed would drop after a while till it was sometimes under 1mb. I have Charter high speed. I checked around here and found that heat may have been an issue so I got it propped up so I had some airflow under it even though it didn't feel hot when checking. I also updated the firmware then and for a long time it seemed to have cured the issue. Lately though, the problem is back. I updated firmware again but still no change. The unit is cool to the touch so heat is not the problem. After turning off for a bit and then rebooting, the speed goes back to normal and stays that way for a few days. I also tried rebooting my cable modem to test that aspect but after doing that, no change. Just rebooting the router fixes things. I'm at a loss. I can't keep having this happen especially since my wife works remotely from home.

I have recently moved, taking my PC (Windows Vista) from the UK to Norway. My Norwegian partner has a Wi-fi network set up in our new home via his cable TV service (Lyse) and I purchased a Netgear wireless network adaptor so I could get into this. It says I am connected to his network and I entered the correct network security key but I only get 'limited connectivity' which seems to not include internet access. 2 iPhones & 2 other laptops regularly network in so there is nothing wrong with the network per se. The trouble seems to be that mine is a desktop PC.

I'm looking into a way of routing users internet connection based on their username or group in a windows environment. Currently there's two ISP connections with their own proxy server. I want a user to be fully redirected to one of the ISPs based on who they are. I was hoping via IE proxy settings, this can be accomplished, but it looks like the primary ISP connection, is still getting most of the connections/routing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 'Comcast Business Gateway' a friend gave me and I would like to use it instead of the regular gateway. The business gateway has extra Ethernet ports on the back where as the regular gateway just has one for your router. I plugged in the business gateway and I couldn't access the network. I used 10.1.10.1 which I thought was comcast's default but to no avail. I am not a tech so I am now stuck.The whole reason I am trying to do this is because the wireless routor is in the house, with a ethernet wire running to the shop. This distance is about 60 feet. I have the computer pluged into the wire but I can't get the printer or the other computer to connect to the wireless. I would like to connect the Business Gateway to the house wireless and then run the hard wire to the shop and connect another wireless router to the wire and run the shop on its own wireless. I tried one of the wireless extenders and it does not have enough juice.

PC1 has : Window XP w/ Linksys WRT54G w/ Linksys software installed
PC2 has : Windows 7 connected to router via cable
PC3 has : Windows XP connected to router via wireless
My goal is to make my new Windows 7 (PC2) the primary computer just like a server which handles the router and other stuff like printers, scanners, etc. I want to swap the Linksys WRT54G on PC1 to be on the new PC2 (Windows 7) so that the router can be configured and monitored on that machine.
My guess is that I just simply install the Linksys WRT54G's software to PC2 and make the necessary settings just like the XP machine (PC1) and I'm done. Do I need to UNinstall the router's software on the PC1 (XP) machine first? Do I disconnect my internet connection on my PC1 machine?....or do it really matter?
I have 2 computers hooked to a network, both have windows XP I want to get rid of the computer that the printer is physically connected to and move it to the other pc on the network?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a home network with 2 laptops (one XP and one Vista) and 1 desktop (XP) configured through a Lynksys wireless router. There was already a Canon wireless network printer (with the Vista laptop set up as the "host" pc). This Vista laptop had to be on in order to print from any of the other 2 computers on the network. I then added another laptop (this one with Windows 7 64-bit OS) to the same home network (using workgroup), and I can print wirelessly from it in the same way (the older Vista laptop has to be on). The Vista laptop is hardly ever used since adding the new Win 7, and I would like to be able to print without having the Vista laptop on. How would I go about this? Do I have to delete the printer from the Vista laptop and re-install on the Win 7? It seems like there should be a way to let the router be the "print server," but I have no idea how to accomplish this. The WLAN settings on the printer all indicate the proper router settings from the initial setup. The printer is a Canon MX860.

Currently trying to set up the above so that if an access service is not matched then it will go to the next one. Looking at the logs what happens is - our auth is set to AD so it matches that - then it isnt in the correct ext AD group and goes to default deny access.
Cant see how to get around this - the only continue command is in the advanced area of the auth - but i cant set up ext ad groups on the auth. How do i get this to move between access services if it doesnt match the ext AD.
