Binding Process To Certain Network Interface

Dec 13, 2011

I have been working on this for a week now and I ended up with ForceBindIP and ProxyCap but I still cant get things work the way I want them to. I'm also aware of the ROUTE command but I'm not absolutely sure how it works, I have tried it but I didnt manage to change the packet routes properly. I want to be able to bind certain processes/programs to certain Network Interface Cards/Adapters. I have 2 and both are connected to different networks.

The problems with those 2 programs are following ForceBindIP: doesnt work on stuff that launches 2 or more processes, or the process I want to route to the said NIC is launched after the main(bound) process. ProxyCap: No option to route processes to local networking interface. I need something median of these two, a way to bind several processes to NIC.

Why do I want/have to do this? - I'm streaming online games, and I cant stream good quality with just one connection as both are only OK for one thing. How to bind process afterwards with forcebindIP, use proxycap to route packets to local network interface

Cisco Firewall :: How To Design ASA 5510 Failover For Process Control Network

Mar 19, 2013

I'm currently working on setting up 2 ASA 5510's with redundancy/failover. I'm not an expert when it comes to the ASA's so I'm not 100% sure if I can do what I need to.I have 2 inside networks that need to remain separate, a DMZ network, and an outside network. Since each network connects via ethernet to one of the 4 ethernet ports on the ASA 5510's, all 4 ethernet ports on the ASA 5510 will be in use. If I wanted to setup one firewall as Active and the other as standby, how would I go about doing that? Do I need a direct ethernet connection between the 2 firewalls to use something such as HSRP? Or would the Standby firewall be able to tell if the Active firewall is OK since they would both be connected on each of their interfaces to the same networks?

Forwarding Done But Port Binding Not Happening

Aug 30, 2012

On my old server which I've run Minecraft on for two years now, I've finally shut that down, and am now starting three FPS servers (or trying to) - CoD4, Four Delta One MW2, and Urban Terror... CoD4 is meant to be running though 28960, MW2 through 28961, and UrT through 27960... Although the Four Delta One server seems to be binding to ports and connecting properly, the other two don't. I've tried running the CoD4 server through 28961 as well, but it doesn't seem to show through there either, even though MW2 does. The error is 'WARNING: UDP_OpenSocket: bind: WSAEADDRNOTAVAIL' on both servers. The ports are definitely forwarded.. [code]

Cisco Switches :: ACL Binding On SG300 28P

Mar 15, 2011

I have a question about ACL and binding. I have a SG300 28P and a couple of other linksys switches and Access points that are connected to it via trunks. The cisco SG300 28P  is running in layer3 mode and i have created a couple of vlans and one of them is a guest vlan. Now to my question, i create an ACL and an ACE that vill funktion so that guest vlan only can connect to the internet and not the rest of the internal network. And then i must bound the ACL to an interface port or lag, what i can see it is not possible to bind it to an vlan? so if i have a port on some of the other switches that is member of the guest vlan, vill the ACL on the SG 300 stop guest vlan trafic to the internal network that is comming from some of the other switches?

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Protocol Binding For SIP And RTP (VoIP)

Jun 26, 2012

I have a RV042 with a DSL (WAN1) and cable (WAN2) internet connection in Load Balance Mode. The DSL provider also provides internet telephony when registered via his line. When I disable the WAN2 port, my IP phone successully registers with the registration server of the DSL provider. I also defined protocol bindings for SIP (port 5060) and RTP (ports 5004 to 5020) to be bound to WAN1. My IP phone is set up to listen on only these ports. [code] With these protocol bindings in place when I re-enable WAN2, then after some time the phone reports "registration failed".Do I need to set something else apart from protocol binding to force the VoIP traffic to go via WAN1?

TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless :: TL-WR842ND IP Lease Reservation Vs MAC Binding

Apr 10, 2013

Region : UnitedKingdom
Model : TL-WR842ND
Hardware Version :
Firmware Version :

I've just set up an old netbook as a secure ftp server on my network. As part of the process I locked the server host IP by making the lease permanent in the DHCP/Address Reservation page of the routers web GUI.However I later noticed the MAC binding page which seems to achieve the same thing (lock an IP address to a specific adapter). I was wondering what the practical differences between the two techniques are? i.e is it better to use binding than reservation?

I have the gut feeling that binding is more robust as I'm not sure what happens to a reservation if the specified host device is removed and then the router rebooted, is the address released back to the pool of available addresses? Binding feels like that address will never be made available to another device even if that device is no longer present, or is that completely wrong? Also does the binding survive a router reboot?

When trying to access https content from the remote LAN across the WAN the sites failed and I see no option to add additional subnets to the protocol binding. Is there a command line feature that supports adding additional subnets for protocol binding or is the local LAN the only option?

Cisco Routers :: ICMP (ping) Protocol Binding With The RV042?

Aug 7, 2011

Is it possible to use protocol binding to route pings only over the WAN1 connection, even if WAN1 fails? It seems like the protocol binding feature of the Linksys RV042 is ignored once WAN1 fails.  I would like to use a ping from the LAN to an external IP to verify if the WAN1 connection is down, or is up and then use that information to power up, or power down a secondary communications system (WAN2).  However, if the protocol binding is ignored when WAN1 fails, then I will not be able to use the ping to establish the state of WAN1 connection. Addtionally, is it possible to use protocol binding to only route pings and allow all other traffic to use either WAN connection? I have seen these feautures on a different brand of router that failsover to a cell connection, but it is not a true dual WAN router. It would be nice if the RV042 would allow this kind of control. Are there any other dual WAN routers out there that have this kind of protocol binding feature?

Cisco Routers :: RV042G - Protocol Binding And VPN With Load Balancing

Oct 6, 2012

I have dual WAN connections on rv042G in "office 1". LAN is 192.168.10.x

A gateway to gateway VPN is made with another "office 2" on rv042G too.

The goal is to reach the LAN of the other "office 2" : 192.168.5.x

Working good. Now I need to use protocol binding : One LAN ip need to use WAN 2 : All traffic :192.168.10.77~77(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN2 -> Working

The rest of LAN should use WAN 1 (same as the VPN) When I create this rules, I can't reach the "office 2" LAN : All traffic : 192.168.10.100~150(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN1

What should I do to make it works ?

Cisco WAN :: 3750 Switch - Clear IP DHCP Conflict / Binding

May 10, 2013

I configured an DHCP server on cisco 3750 switch . Wher in w3750 gets connected to plain l2 switch 2960 on floor  and machine gets connected to 2960 port. [code] Below is the description of problem:

-> The Cisco 3750 switch is the DHCP server. VLAN 108 is named as internet vlan.

-> Ports in Cisco 2960 switch has been configured with "switchport access vlan 108".

-> There were no problems at all and everything had been working smoothly.

-> 3 days back, users started complaining that they couldn't access the internet. Up on troubleshooting the issue, I found out that there was an issue with the DHCP server as the computer couldn't get any IP address at all. After setting static IP address, the internet started working again.

If I bind IP to MAc address reservation on core 3750 switch for some time of moment it works but after that machine gets unreachable .I restarted the 3750 switch and also all the 2960 switches over the weekend, however, the issue still hasn't been resolved yet. I did issue the command "clear ip dhcp conflict *", clear ip dhcp binding * but no joy at all.

Does the RV042/G could work with that? In that case, does it allow protocol redirect only? What about ip/ports redirecting? Or some kind of packet filtering to redirect to specific WAN ports?

The above host amit (10.10.14.31 swhould get this ip bindded with mac) but hez not getting manual ip i.e 10.10.14.31, but if an ip excluded from the dhcp free, he can get that ip i.e automatic ip . every other host are getting the ips as binded in the pool manual ip. Checked with

**sh mac-address table dynamic vlan 99   ()
**clear ip dhcp binding *   or  10.10.14.31
** clear ip dhcp snooping binding
*** clear ip dhcp conflict *

Tried to change pool names. All these troubleshoot couldn't make me success in providing amit an manual ip.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Load Balance Protocol Binding Not Failing Back

Mar 6, 2013

I am trying to make this router prefer Wan1 for outbound while listening to both WAN ports for Inbound. I set it to Load Balance mode and added in a rule for Protocol binding:

All Traffic( TCP & UDP/1-65535)>192.168.1.1~192.168.1.254(0.0.0.0~0.0.0.0)WAN1 ENABLED

This says bind all Outbound traffic  to anybody to WAN1

My Wan 2 connection is over satellite so it is easy to tell if a ping is going over Wan2 because the latency is >600mS

If I start a continuous ping to outside site - eg Yahoo.com then if I Fail WAN1 I see the ping latency Jump from 30mS to 700mS  as it starts to use Wan2. If I restore the Connection to Wan 1 then the pings stay on WAN2 - seemingly forever. If I stop pinging for 30 mins then a restart of pinging does use Wan1 - so it fails back eventually If I restore Wan1 and then remove Wan2, it fails back right away

My problem is with our VOIP which uses a connection keepalive  so there is no real downtime for the router to release the path to WAN2 should it fail over how I can force the router to fail back to Wan1 without removing Wan2?

Cisco Routers :: RV082 V3 Load Balancing (Protocol Binding) With IPsec Tunnel?

Mar 14, 2013

We have tried a variety of options in an attempt to use Load Balancing (Protocol Binding) with an RV082 that has a site to site IPsec tunnel with another RV082. Both are v3.

Here is the issue. We have dual ISPs, one has great bandwidth, but we incur overages. The other has mediocre bandwidth, but has unlimited usage.

GROUP1 - We want most PCs to use the "unlimited" ISP for general surfing, email, etc. (Bound all ports for range of internal IPs to ANY dest to WAN1)

GROUP2 - We want to use the "faster" ISP for our VPN tunnel (mostly RDP and SIP traffic). (Bound all ports for range of internal IPs to ANY dest to WAN2)

So far everything works. The router will route traffic appropriately and GROUP 1 uses WAN1 and GROUP 2 uses WAN2.

Unfortunately, sometimes GROUP1 users need access to resources over the VPN (WAN2).

There is something not right with the routing. For example GROUP1 can ping and receive responses from devices on the other side of the tunnel, but GROUP1 can't access intranet sites on the other side of the tunnel. They also can't RDP to PCs on the other side of the tunnel.

Why does the router correctly route ICMP, but not RDP?

We've tried adding additional protocol binding rules for specific ports(80, 3389, etc) and ip ranges (both local and remote) to see if we could force GROUP1 traffic destined via VPN through WAN2, but it doesn't work.

Shouldn't VPN tunnels created and configured in the RVs not adhere to protocol binding? It just seems logical to me, but maybe I am missing something.

The problem appears after a router reboot or after shutting the router down and powering it on again. The "ARP List" then shows only a few of my IDs and their status is unbound. I need to go back to the "Binding Settings" and hit "Save" - after that all my IDs appear in the ARP-List and everything is OK again.
