View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I combine two (or more) physical drives into one on an XP based machine? I have an older machine I want to essentially use as a NAS type device over my home network to stream content from, but want all the installed drives to essentially be "merged" together to show as just one if possible. I think its sometimes referred to as "disk pooling". I have XP Pro available to install so maybe this has something built-in that can easily handle this task. It also needs to be done on an XP based machine (not Linux) due to some other specialized software that will be running on it for another reason and is for XP only. Basically, any suggestions on how to have some sort of 'disk pooling' for 2+ drives on an XP machine? Can it simply be done within XP Pro? Or maybe there is some sort of free software out there that can handle this. This machine currently doesn't have any important data on it so experimenting and wiping something out can be done if needed.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Seagate 1TB USB External Hard Drive that I want to share on my wireless home network, and I'm having difficulty finding a cheap, reliable solution. I would also, ideally, like to connect a USB printer for similar sharing.I have two XP PC's on the network, and will probably be getting a Windows 7 machine. The router is the generic one supplied by my ISP.
1. Connect both hard drive and printer to always-on PC that shares with Windows. This would work but I'm not keen on the 'always on'
2. Use a Pogoplug to connect the hard drive and printer to the router Again, a good solution and always-on, but a little pricey - ?60-100?
I recently purchased a DIR-655 and everything's working fine -- Internet access, visibility of local shares, etc. -- with the one except accessing to my printer (Brother MFC-7440N) that's hard-wired to a port on the router. After installing the latest PC SharePort Utility on my two Windows 7 desktops, they're both able to connect and use all of the features of the printer (print, scan, etc.). However, I can't say the same for my two Macbook Pro's connected via WiFi (802.11N). I installed the latest Mac SharePort Utility on both, but neither can "see" the printer. Caveat: If I connect the laptops via a LAN cable (ie. hard-wired directly into the router), they're able to see the printer. how to configure the router (or Mac) to allow them to see the printer?
