The network seems to be working alright but we did have trouble with the internet on client machines being slow and timing out all the time. After a lot of trouble shooting I ended up changing the forwarders to OpenDNS instead of the ISP DNS and everything thing seems to be working now.
I recently re-installed windows xp sp1 on my computer when i run the setup in it the program appears for a second then crashes and makes a windows error sound.
I have a desktop without a wireless card and i want my network to be wireless so i bought a d-link wireless card for the desktop, the system then discover the wireless network but could not connect it kept on trying to authenticate, it did not even ask me for the web security key, what do I do
When attempting to log in to a computer (running Windows 7 Professional) here at the office using the network administrator account, I get the error message: "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed." I wasn't here when this laptop was set up, and so I don't know if any local user accounts were made or what their passwords would be if they were there, so I can't think of any way to log in to the machine and disconnect/reconnect to the domain which is really my only idea on how to fix it. Finding out what would cause this to suddenly start happening would also be nice, but mostly I just need to figure out how to get reconnected so I can get this back up and running.
At my small business (30 employees) we currently don't have a hardware firewall. Should I have one? If so what do you recommend? We are all connected to a Windows Server 2003 domain in one office building.
My Internet is down. I appear to be getting power from the modem as all the lights are lit up. I have a wireless router. On my desktop I clicked on the Network icon and it said "3WIRE***" is in range but requires a Network Key (also called a WEP Key or WPA Key)? Could this be the problem? I've never had to enter a password to access my internet before. Do you know how I can find (or reset) my password? It's a D-Link router.
My hard drive crashed and had to reinstall my OS using manufacturers disk now everything works but the internet, the integrated ethernet card is not listed under network adapters in the device manager, its a clean install of windows xp media center edition 2005 sp2, the device manager shows no drivers missing.
i am using win7 64 bit on dell n5110 and my lan is not working properly. it wont even detect the cable . when i plug in the cable its like nothing happened. but when i uninstall and reinstall the driver, it sometimes resolves the issue. but i have to do this every time.
I have an Eee-PC and im trying to connect to the internet via my HUAWEI E173 MOBIEL INTERNET STICKWhen I plug it in it reds it, but only like a mass storage device.
I have network: 20 PC's conected to a switch (ordinary switch), from switch to a router (for DHCP and internet conection), Router is connected to a cable modem.
Lately an issue arised. One PC started having problem witch connection (PC is windows 7, up to date). PC instead of 192 addres is getting 169 (i need to highlight it is a problem with only one PC). That means the PC is connected to the Router but it is not getting proper IP addres. After changig the addres to static the connection ws fine for few days and then in networc connection icon (botom right) it came up with 'unidentified network' message. I changed the patchleeds, even changed the connection with known working line (from outlet to patchpanel) and the connection was coming and going. Then I changed network card with the same resoult. I noticed strange thing: While the IP is 169 or when 'unid net' when I unplug the cable from outlet then plug back and do so couple times in one moment the connection is back and stable but only for some period of time. Cables had been re terminated with new jacks and at the patch panel. Drivers for network card are up to date.
I'm currently volunteering at a children's group near me. They've just moved offices and are wanting a computer network in place. I have quite a bit of experience with hardware and software troubleshooting, but anything past the server is beyond me.They have a telecommunications box, as many places do, and the box has a set of patch boxes that are, according to the telecommunications people, plugged in and good to go. Each office has tunnelling on the wall with network sockets, again the norm.
I have found a great application that allows your PC to become a hotspot. It can also protect the wi-fi. Now remember whatever its your backend on the PC is what kind of network and speed you get such as, if my desktop connected through ethernet and I install the virtual router on the desktop than my laptop can connect to it depending on my Wi-Fi adapter on it. It could be B/G/N. B and G gives 54MBPS and N gives me 65MBPS.
Can I use ONE wireless usb adapter for two computers? Of course not at the same time but I was wondering if it is possible? Also, do I need to have the disc to install it or will the 2nd computer I want to use the wireless usb adapter for prompt me to install the software when I put it in the usb drive? I have misplaced the cd the usb adapter came with which is why I am askinit is a laptop and I know I can use ad hoc but I am trying to set up wireless on that laptop without ad hoc.
I have this phone that was working fine until a friend moved a desk and positioned on top of the cable the goes from the phone to the jack, he did it without knowing it.So we took the cable we went to the store a bought a cable for phone with only one pair of wire, we connected it and it did not get any line tone.I did notice the old cable have two pair of wire. But this is an office phone with two line number so at least one should be working right? I just realize this now.
A few weeks ago, i noticed that my desktop was unable to access the internet, even though it shows that it is connected. i eventually decided taht it must have been a hardware issue, so i bought a new motherboard. after installing the motherboard, an a fresh installation on Windows, i saw after the drivers were installed that the same thing was happening. I pinged sites, and i got no losses on data. i also did a tracer, and it showed me that it is in fact connecting.
I noticed that when I connect the pc to the network(it is always via cable) it recognizes the network as "network", whereas if i use the same connection for my laptop, it brings up the network as "NETGEAR", which is, in fact, my network's name.
I just need to add new connectors and I'm good to go. The PCs have cabinets with Ethernet sockets in them and these will also need re-wiring with a RJ45 jack then a faceplate mounting as they are totally bare at the minute. Also, I think I need to learn this as a whole, it will become a regular thing, do I need the following tools to do the basics of cabling ?RJ45 Network Crimp Tool 10 Boots & Ends Crimping Kit Play.com - Buy RJ45 Network Crimp Tool 10 Boots & Ends Crimping Kit online at Play.com and read reviews. So i think i can connect a cable from the avaya to the 66 block and it automaticaly give an extension number, but how do i add a phone line number to that connection?
I have a wave spot controller. That is connected to my PC(Fedora 14). In Shell I'm < arp -n > then I'm getting "Incomplete" in the place of Hardware Address.
I keep getting a 50% loss on one workstation. I tried switching out the network card and that seems to have resolved the issue... Do network cards exhibit strange behavior when they fail or am I overlooking a deeper issue?
I have a fee pcs at home...all are able to connect to the internet but theres only one thats not able to...the network and connection centre keeps and changing from identifying to not connected. The cable itself is fine.
Having real problems setting up a USB NAS driver adapter. I bought this adapter here: USB NAS Adapter for HDD Caddy UPNP Printer Server SAMBA | eBay
I have plugged it into my router via the ethernet cable provided, then I login to my router via [url]... and check for the attached devices - I can't see the USB adapter showing up. My router is: F@ST2504n. Is there something I need to do first to make it show up?
I can open files, play videos, run programs, etc. Windows installed without a problem. However, I can't connect to the Internet. At all. I can't even register my version of Windows because I can't contact Microsoft for verification, because the connection won't get through. No Internet devices can be detected. That was with a long cable wired directly to our router, which is next to our modem. So, today, I bought a D-Link Xtreme N Desktop PCI adapter to connect. Still no connection... I don't think the PC even detects the adapter, because the drivers coming with the adapter can't detect it, and the light on the adapter doesn't turn on.That shouldn't happen. Both the cable and adapter go directly into the motherboard. My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, and my motherboard is an Asus P8Z68-V PRO.My ISP is Cogeco. All other computers and wireless devices in the house work perfectly fine.
My acer aspire 4736z can not use anymore internet even tough the wifi icon says its connected. I can use cable. should I download a new wifi adapter? My adapter is Atheros AR928x wireless net work adapter.
I might fancy having my desktop stay in a sleep state, waking whenever I need to access it for a file or something, so I tried to use WOL. The nic and bios support it, however when I enable it...
The machine only stays off off for 5-10 seconds at a time. I think this is because instead of waking from only a magic packet, it is waking from ANY packet.
I have acer laptop with xp and must do enable my lan card to open conection in devices manager.every reboot the lan conection is disabled.for information I delete a virus pum bad proxy with malwarebytes before I have a problem know ervery thing is ok without virus.
I am using a proxy server with 2 NICs for sharing internet connection to my 100 desktop users in my office. NIC 1 is connected to my dsl modem and NIC 2 is connected to a main switch and further to more. But now i want to setup a wifi network for laptop users. I have enabled ICS on NIC 1 and NIC 2 has acquired it ip automatically (192.168.0.1) so the gateway for my desktop users is (192.168.0.1). But i want to use a new gateway. For this i have installed NIC 3 but it is not acquiring the ip automatically. My Proxy server configuration is: MS Server 2003 ENT edition.
Driver software is from 2009 and it says there are no updates found,. RALINK TECH. CORP is the manufacturer and microsoft is the driver supplier, although neither website has anything for my piece of equipment (i have installed updates from both of them and my driver software is the same as before). How do I find updates for these drivers? When I search online all I get is driver update programs that cost money to use.
