Can One Computer Have 2 LAN Ports With 2 IP Addresses
Jun 11, 2012
I have 2 PC's networked via a gigabit switch. They are both running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and are on the same workgroup.Addresses Of both - A: 192.168.0.1 , B: 192.168.0.2 , Both are on the same subnet 255.255.255.0.Can I have 2 LAN ports on the PC - "B" , with 2different IP addresses But connected to the same workgroup.I don't need the second port for accessing the PC-B or accessing any of its files or anything. But can 2 programs access each of these ports independently.
My university provides one Ethernet port per student in dorm rooms. They assign IP addresses based on which port you connect to and forbid multiple computers connected to the one port using a hub or switch.DHCP leases are 24 hours long, but you can switch out 10 different devices with different MAC addresses and keep getting the same IP. How does this work? Do they just figure that if you're using a hub connecting multiple stations to the one port that they don't care if there's a conflict?
I have a cisco router 881 with advipservices running ios Version 15.2(4)M1 this router is a device that the user will connect company equipement with antivirus and such.is there a way I can force the ports like fe0 fe1 2 3 to accept only devices with specific mac addresses?if not, is there a way for me to apply an acl to vlanX to block everything that's not from these specific addresses?
I have recently purchased an SG-300-52 Managed Switch. (This is the first managed switch I have used, so I am trying to figure out what I can do with it and how it works.)
I would like to know how to find out the IP address of each computer connected to each port of the switch. Is this possible and if so how can I do this from the browser interface?
when I click on an icon like yahoo or facebook or any other icons my compuyrt says doesnt recognize, typed in add wrong, cant figute it out. Its on dsl an my laptops work fine from my wireless.
why I cannot get any of the standard ports open on my computer. I have run ESET firewall/antivirus, but have it temporarily disabled. I have windows defender disabled. I have the correct ports open/bypassed through my linksys router, but still am having network trouble.

Need to port forward certain ports for one computer but need UPnP for 2 different ps3's.These are the parts I have. I have read that the GT704WGB does not have a true bridge mode. I don't want to bias anyone however. How to best use this equipment so that I can port forward ports on my laptop. There are also several laptops, desktop and phones on my network but the 2 ps3's and my laptop are what primarily concern me.

Cisco Linksys wrt54gs v4 (Router) currently running Tomato firmware but I can flash dd-wrt back to it in a second.
In setup for old RV042 (V1), when updating / adding Mac addresses, the table is always sorted by IP addresses. But in the new oneRV042 (V3) I have, even with latest firmware 4.2.1.02 the list is random, thereby increasing the chance of user entering DUPLICATE IP addr with diff Mac addr. That will result in conflict. If the firmware sorts the DHCP entries by ip addresses, user would be able to catch duplicate ip errors even if the system does not flag the errors. All Cisco smart engineers can you all get the dhcp entries SORT by ip addresses.
We have an ASA 5505. 5505 comes with two default vlans 1&2 with each of them marked as inside & outside respectively. My query is , if i do not want to use vlans on 5505 and only want to use the Ethernet ports as pure physical layer 3 ports, is it possible?i.e. i want to assign a layer 3 ip address on eth0/0 and eth0/1 and make them as the inside & outside interfaces rather than vlans. is it possible to do away with vlans in 5505 & will it work otherwise?
Is there a way to associate spare firewall ports with another port that is being used..For example...int gi 0/2 is being used currently for my web dmz. Its ip is 192.168.10.1..Is there a way for me to associate gi 0/3 with the same layer 2 as gi 0/2 ?
In my webdmz I use 2 ACE 4710 proxys in FT mode. I used a layer 2 switch to connect firewall and proxys together.
I would like to eliminate this switch if possible..and connect both 4710's (layer 2) direct to firewall. If I could make gi0/2 - 4 part of the same vlan, then I would be good to go.
How many of the 881 switch interface ports can be used as router ports, have used the 877 etc where i can use 2 but need a low cost router that supports 3 for routing. (needs to be physical ports)
One of techs accidentally connected two access ports from different switches together. Since then, LMS is alerting them as being Link ports down. I tried to default the config and set them to access ports without any success. what I should do in LMS to recognize them as access ports?
I am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit. All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.
I have a netgear router, the pc I want to print from is connected via ethernet strait to router with Vista Ultimate OS. The computer the printer is hooked up to is connected via usb wireless adapter with Windows XP OS. Can I print from my computer hooked up via Ethernet from the computer that is hooked up wireless.
For the Record: I have a Linksys E4200 Router. My computer is an ASUS Notebook (can't identify model, doesn't show on system information, but got it in the last 3 months) My friend's computer is also an ASUS notebook (model designed after a stealth fighter)First: On my computer, I get a solid 500kb/s dl speed at anytime. If anyone else is downloading, even if they are the only others to do so.. they get speeds of 150kb/s tops (on other laptops connected to the router). I don't understand how this is, all the settings on the router are default.econd (more important issue for me): My friends come over often and play games (WoW, Diablo 3, Xbox LIVE etc)... Often when we're doing something together, only my friend will disconnect, but none of us wille've updated his drivers (his computer is fairly new like mine is), among other things.. But he still has the problem, which occurs only at my hou
On my desk top home computer (XP Home Edition) connected directly to High speed Internet modem/router with a ethernet cable :The modem/computer connection worked for many months. Recenttly, I had to re-install my Network Driver because of a virus problem. The LAN icon now says :"Status: Acquiring Network Address" but it never gets to a connected status. IPconfig/all shows all 0.0.0.0 I have another laptop (Windows 7) using same network/modem thru wifi WLAN mini card and it connects fine to the Internet. IP values[CODE]
Our company is a small one and steadily growing towards mid size. We currently have about 200 or so users. Naturally we have run out of IP addresses and now we must redesign the entire IP schema.Initially our plan was to just implement a class B subnet for the whole network with certain ranges belonging to certain kinds of devices/machines/servers.Are there any cons to this? If so, could you link me to documentation that explains this?
I have an exercise with picture you find below. The question is: Will the network shown in the diagram work correctly when you consider that the MAC-addresses PC0 and PC8 are the same, and why?
I am in charge of a network that has two dns servers with directorys, one main and one for back up. I also have a cisco firewall. When I run a scan on my network, the scan results return clients that have two diffent IP addresses for one client or server etc.
I have a DIR-615 rev C1 with the latest firmware (v3.13). I am trying to reserve all the IP addresses in my home network, which includes a printer, 3 computers, a network bridge to a PS3, the PS3 itself, an iPhone, and an A/V receiver. On my network setup page, I can see the MAC addresses under DHCP CLIENTS for the wired Win7 computer, a Win7 computer with a USB adapter, the PS3, the network bridge to the PS3, the iPhone.
Is it possible to have more public addresses to more internal addressees? I have an internet provider which is in control of my router and he is telling me it is not possible. It's a Cisco router and I have static IP address.
I'm planning to setup a network with more than 300 PCs. I know that using class C address is not enough to allocate number of IP addresses required. What I meant in the preceding sentence is that If I use this network address 192.168.1.0 (class C), it will allow only 256-2 = 254 IP addresses, What about other PCs in the network ?
We got a bunch of port-sec violations on port fa1/0/42. after checking logs, we noticed that the MAC address responsible for generating the alert was not one, but many.We asked the user, he said he only restarted his computer. The MAC addresses happen to be existing MAC on the network. How is it possible that a port-sec violation is made by many MAC addresses on the same port, successively?

When I try connecting via anyconnect the logs (and anyconnect messages) state the connection "cannot be established due to no addresses being available for SVC connection'". The group etc has a dhcp scope assigned, (and this was working for the past year). I'm not sure what config changes (if any) he made before leaving.
I have multiple devices running on my home network. Every once in a while my wireless router starts playing up and I have to reset it.Whenever this happens, it changes the internal IP addresses of the devices. Is there a way to make the router keep the same internal ip address for each device? ie Laptop stays at 192.168.1.8I have a few forwarded ports for remote access to certain pieces of software, so each time the address changes, I have to go in and change these details, which is quite frustrating.
Here is the question,"If an ISP purchased the following block of IP addresses: 200.23.16.0/20, describe and/or diagram how they would be able to divide this block of IP adresses into 8 subnets for resale. What are the number of hosts for each subnet?"
Me and my girl friend both work from home doing freelance work using the internet. The company we do freelance work for allows one agent per ip address and checks the ip address for multiple agents I guess.I only have one modem, router, and two computers, but I believe they are on the same ip address. Is there a way to have two different ip addresses so we wouldn't have any issues with our work here?
How would I connect hopes to router without getting ip addresses from linksys router , rather i want to get ip addresses from Server 2008 that can be done by DHCP server, in that case how would i disable ip addresses getting from linksys router? each time I connect new hopes to network those pcs should get ip address from Server how it can be possible.
how to switch between my 5 new static IP addresses that I purchased (on a monthly basis now) from my ISP. I need them for my business so that I can send out more than the 1,000 emails per day from the one IP address to all of my customers which total a little over 1,500 now. Unfortunately I'm quite computer iliterate when it comes to understanding even the basics of computer terminology, etc. My ISP explained to me that if I purchased the bundle of 5 static IPs, then I could in essence send out 5,000 emails per day, which is plenty.
I have various unknown Mac addresses on my network, detecting if they are normal/non harmful OR if I've been hacked! I've uploaded a picture of the addresses, the second to the last address is my router's.
