I cannot make my Sony Bravia Connect to our Network using a Cat5 cable directly connected to the Router. (Netgear) The Wireless works just fine as both of our laptops and our son's Wii are connected without issue...I have rebooted everything multiple times, did a hard restore on the television. When we connect directly to the Modem. the TV will connect to the internet. But when we use the router.. No go..

I have recently purchased a Sony Bravia NX720, which has a built in wireless card. When I connect the television via LAN to the router the internet works fine, however when I connect via my wifi network (i.e. there is no physical connection between the tv and the router) I get the following message:

I recently bought a Sony Bravia HD TV with wireless internet capabilities. When I try to connect to my wireless internet. The TV finds our wireless router name, but when we try to finally connect wirelessly it gives the following message: TV wi-fi found, local access failed and network access failed. The router we have is a Netgear PK500.
On the TV we have three differant ways for the tv to locate the router they are by scanning, the WPS button and by entering the WPS pin. We've tried all three and got the above message.

I'm having an issue with my Sony Bravia 3D TV. It has wireless built in LAN and I've been using it to connect wirlessly through my router. A few days ago it just stopped connecting. I had the network setting on my TV for the IP adress on auto, but I input manual settings (router ip adress) to see if it would work, no success. Everytime I try and connect it says

internet access failed
I can use the internet with my computer/phone/portable gaming device, just not the TV. I tried disabling my firewall on my computer to see if it was causing an issue but that didn't work. My router is a gateway 2wire and my computer is a windows vista laptop.I went ahead and did the ipconfig as I suspect it'll be needed?

I've just bought a Sony Bravia with in-built wireless connectivity but I cannot get it to connect to the internet.I have a Talk Talk dlink DSL2640R wireless router I have entered the following settings manually in to the tv:

I have in my basement a router (DLink DIR-655) which is connecting to our ISP, and I have cables running to wall jacks in the first floor. A wall jack which terminates in the living room I have connected to a switch, a DLink 10/100/1000 (DGS-1005G). To this I have my PS3 connected which can connect to the internet fine (although it seems to not get the same upload / download speeds other devices get) and my Sony Bravia TV (KDL-46Z5100). The PS3 registers as GB, while the TV 100MB (its port lights orange).
The problem is I can't get the TV to connect to the internet. If I try DHCP, it doesn't seem to find the DNS server (on another switch connected to the same router in a different room). If I hard code the IP address, still nothing.
I found that if I connect the TV directly into the wall, it can connect. It's just through the switch I'm having problems. Additionally, even I then plug it back into the switch and connect the switch to the wall jack, the connect continues to work. It just seems that i can't get it initialize when connected to the switch.
Just bought a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX723 today and i am currently trying to connect it to my BT home hub via a "wired set up". BT home hub does not seem to be detecting the TV at all, when i try to do an auto set up it searches for a while and then comes back with, cable connection:failed, local access:failed, internet access:failed.I have went on to my network page to see if it was connecting to anything else and it is finding my external hardrive no problem via the Ethernet cable.I have tried looking at my computer IP details and adding them manually to the TV, but no joy, just comes back with the same errors.

All ok and says have Internet connection, but cannot access any video content' I.e. iplayer, etc. when check via refresh internet content (as Sony recommend) says "configuration failed while connecting. The system has encountered an error. If problem persists contact Sony (5006)". Sony say wireless strength insufficient, but when tried wired set up be relocating NETGEAR router gives same error message. Have NETGEAR wireless extender good signal with full connectivity via laptop, iPad and iPhone. Also when try server display settings says servers cannot be recognised. When go to options and select update list repeats "servers cannot be recognised. Have checked all IP etc and same as on laptop:

I have just bought a brand new Sony Vaio laptop VPCEH2. I have tried to connect wirelessly to my Netgear router (DG934G). The router and broadband is supplied by Sky. The laptop is running Windows 7. The router is sending a wireless sending fine to our desktop and two smartphones but the Vaio is unable to connect.
The Vaio finds the signal which is says is excellent but does not connect. Using an ethernet cable the internet connection is fine. I have been on the phone to Sky for nearly 2 hours across two nights and they have given up. We have tried setting up a new router password, disconnecting and reconnecting, establishing a connection in the Network and Sharing Cente using WPA security with no joy. I asked them if the router needed a firmware upgrade for Windows 7 and they were adamant that it did not - the firmware version is currently V2.02.44. I have checked the Windows 7 compatibility listings for Netgear routers but couldn't find the DG934G (or the DG834GT - which I believe is a newer version), listed.
The funny thing is that when Sky create a wireless connection in the sharing centre is did work for around 30 seconds where I was able to access around 5/6 webpages. The browser then stopped working and the connection was lost (with yellow warning triangle across the signal to bottom right of screen). Another thing to note was that Sky originally blamed the fault on a McAfee update. I looked into this and deinstalled McAfee and even spoke to them for a while and they confirmed that it had deinstalled and did some other tests and said it was definitely not their software causing the problem.
On instruction from reviews of the TV on amazon, i bought a TP-Link wireless range extender to set up as a client/repeater (not sure which to use) to connect wirelessly to my router in another room so i can connect an ethernet to the TV for online functions without an overpriced Sony wireless dongle.I connect the device to the router, assign a random IP in the same subnet as my lan (since it has the same default address as my router) and set the default gateway to my router's IP address (assuming this is what it is asking for) and set the device to either client or repeater mode (unsure of which i need so have tried both) and everything seems fine until this point. However, I set the device to WEP security and set the WEP key to the same as my router as the instructions say and my router instantly loses it's internet connection entirely and repeatedly tries to reconnect and fail until i disable WEP security on the wireless range extender, at which point it successfully reconnects.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Bravia KDL46EX640 which comes with a wireless USB adapter. When I first bought this, I set up wireless network and it went fine. I was able to use the applications for video streaming.
I was trying it again now and it doesn't work. It seems like I can't even connect to my wireless network. I tried to set it up again but it can't find my wireless network. I have tried resetting the TV too (UP arrow + Power button on TV) and still doesn't work. Contacted Sony support but they didn't assist. I have a laptop and ipad connected to the router in the same room so signal is not a problem.

My ISP decided to switch to VSDL2, and they are forcing a wireless router (Netgear VVG2000) on me. As I do not want wireless, I will be buying a wired VSDL2 router myself. I looked a newegg first, but nothing that I could find.URL I only need 4 ports as I have a nice 8 port Gb switch.
I guess the distance to bandwidth deterioration relationship is the explanation that this technology is not very widespread in the US. Seems to be getting traction in Europe since 2008.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried using an ethernet cable (cat 6) to connect my laptop (Sony VPC-1190X) to our gigbit router (Netgear N600 WNDR3800), but I get a message that there is no internet connectivity and the light representing that port on the router does not turn on.So, dead ethernet port on the router? Nope - unplugged the working printer from the router and used that ethernet port - same result.so dead ethernet port on the laptop? Nope - plugged the laptop into a gigbit switch (D-link DGS-2205) and instantly got internet connectivity. Note that this switch is plugged into the aforementioned Netgear router.For good measure, I tried power-cycling the router and laptop.
BTW - I can connect the laptop to the router wirelessly but I am trying to make use of the faster transfer speed of the ethernet connection.
I have had some problems in the last few days regarding my wireless router. i am using a Sony Vaio VGN-NS30E laptop with a TP-Link Wireless N Adsl2+ modem router. ISP = Utility Warehouse. Network Adapter = Atheros AR928X Wireless Adapter.
I can connect via Ethernet, but as soon as i try and use my wireless it comes up with "unable to connect". I also have a Print server running in the other room to allow me to print wireless. I have had all the wireless connections working up until this week (monday).

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear N600 WNDR3700v1 Dual Band Gigabit router and am having a problem with the wired connection with my PC. Everything wireless in the house works fine. In fact, I also have a Direct TV box hooked up for on demand and a sling box hooked up (both wired) and they work find. It's just my PC that is having issues. If I bypass the router and hook straight into the modem, it runs fine also so I have something going on between the router and this PC. I updated the NIC driver and this did not work. Before the update in the device manager, it said it was a NIVIDA nForce Network Controller (if I remember right) and now it says NIVIDA nForce 10/100 Mpbs Ethernet. It was suggested that I change my speed and duplex to match the router after I update but I am unsure what to change it to.

I have read a lot of posts and one here was sort of the same. The problem is I get the 169.254.72.161 which I understand is what it sets to when it won't connect to the router and get a new Ip address. I haven't been able to manually put the ip in. Also even connecting with the cable direct to the modem/router still doesn't connect.The member who also had this problem was with his xp win computer. My problem this is with a tv device so I can't release ip or anything. They said his problem was a" be that Winsock2 is corrupted."
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm currently experiencing an issue where the on/off switch to my Sony Vaio VPCCW21FX is currently a little bit loose. I don't recall ever applying any type of shock to the computer but realized when I pulled it out of my bag, it was somewhat loose which was strange because I always handled my laptop with great care. So I'm attempting to connect to my WiFi network and when trying to turn it on and off, I don't get a response from the computer indicating it's now ready to search for a network, it acts like I intentionally turned off the WiFi and kept it off even though I have it turned to off.
I attempted to run the troubleshooting process on the laptop but it states that I need to turn on my WiFi to fix the issue but I already have it switched to on.
Now I know at this time that I wouldn't be able to get this repaired without being charged an arm and a leg so I wanted to see if it was possible to turn on the WiFi from within the laptop, somewhat like using software to turn it on instead of the hardware on/off switch for the wireless connection.
Basically when I try and connect to my wifi (netgear router) I get a very strong signal but local only access & an unidentified network. I have my desktop & 2 more laptops running off this router so it can't be that.After failing to connect to wifi I tried to use an ethernet connection to try and update my drivers in hope that would fix the wifi problem. After plugging the ethernet in I was in exactly the same position, I kept getting 'Identifying' appear in network connections which then turned to unidentified and wouldn't allow me to connect to the internet either!The laptop is about 3-4 years old I think so I did update the drivers but that didn't do anything either,

View 19 Replies View Relatedi just bought a new Sony Vaio VPCSB 490 X Laptop. I should preface this with the fact that my old vaio i had to get rid of because it stopped connecting to any wireless networks (among other reasons.) I had it looked at and was told the wireless card was broken.
My problem with the new one is that i can only get limited connectivity to the network, even though all other wireless devices in the house are fine. Here's the ip configuration i brought up when the computer was connected to the router with an ethernet cord:
