I'm having a Strange problem. When i try to Explorer files in a network location by typing \<Computer Name> it does not work, Network path not Found error appears. But i can browse files using IP Address.
1. This Happen only at this particular machine only. I can Explorer files using the Computer name from other machines.
2. nslookup shows the correct IP.
3. I can connect to the file server using Remote Desktop by typing the Computer Name.
When I'm trying to access a computer within our network, I could not access it and this is the error message "\computer_name is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission. There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request".
I can't install or extract any file or archive downloaded through shared connection from the 1st PC via a LAN ... tried new LAN and tried switch the LANs but doesn't work always a CRC error when extract an archive or file corrupted when install anything downloaded:this is what I tried so far
-tried download and extract on a 2nd installed windows (I have dual boot) and its same CRC error -tried another non built-in LAN card pci-E x1 and its the same CRC error -tried restore bios to default and its same CRC error -tried putting a laptop on the same line instead of my PC and it works no errors no problems
Today when I tried to access one network folder, I could not access it. I was getting the message "computer name\folder name is not accessible, you might not have permission to use this network resource".Then I went to the host computer and changed the permission to "everyone" but still I'm getting the same message.
I have two places that I work out of. One is in Romania and one in Bulgaria. In Romania, I have a small office/home network set up. It has at least 8 computers (including the three that I have with me currently - some wireless and some towers) and a couple of android phones and Ipods. I have no trouble accessing any of the computers shared folders or them accessing mine. There are a varity of operating systems used there from XP, Windows 7 and Mac.Everything works great. All the computers can access each other shared resources. All the computers are set to get IP automatically from my DLink DIR - 600 router. I have brought my three computers to Bulgaria (tower and two laptops). They are all set the same- no changes in settings. However, in Bulgaria, All three computers CAN access the internet but NOT each other.
Have a server linked to four computers and a laptop for a business and can't seem to access shared files on server from other computers as it keeps asking for username and password to access it. Have tried to change from workgroup to domain that the server is on so to create username and password but error message keeps coming up 'a domain controller for the domain ata.local could not be contacted or if just use ata as domain it does not accept any username or password. Also have tried suggestions in other forums such as simple sharing and creating an account on other pc's with same username and password as server. All of the systems are windows xp and the server is windows standard.
I am unable to access network shared documents and programs on Windows 7... the problem is more that I am simply unsure of how to proceed more than some sort of hardware or software problem.
Network error code 0x80070035 The network path was not found.
I read the previous posts on this error code but my sceanrio was not addressed. Dell Optiplex 980 i5-750 2.66GHz w/4GB RAM running 64bit Win7Pro SP1 and 64bit Symantec Enterprise Protection v.11.0.630
File server is Dell PowerEdge 1900 running 64bit Win 2008 standard server w/o hyper-v, SP2 and 64bit Symantec Enterprise Protection v.11.0.630
I support an OU in a large university domain. Myself and one other user are the only people experiencing this issue in an OU comprised of over 20 machines.
I am a part of small IT company and I need to know if there's a good program I can get to control file access on the network.
Here is my scenario : 5 users on a network with their own workstations, IT Technicians, Sales and Marketing, Admin, HR and Manager...All these users need to access different files on the network so here is what I want, I need for the IT guy to log on into his PC and only see files that he needs on his account and the same thing should apply for other users on their accounts..They should only see files and folders that are relevant to them.
We've just deployed a site-to-site VPN using a 5505 ASA on the client's site and a checkpoint Nokia FW on our site. Everything seems to be fine except that the user's connections to their file shares seem to be intermittently dropping. One minute the connection to the shares is there, next thing it's lost. There is no logic to it because no two users are experiencing issues at the same time, as a matter of fact even on the same PC where a user has access to 3 shares on 3 different servers, one could be showing as connected whereas the other two be dropping.
As you can see the Duplex and Speed are set to auto, I've rectified this since then and I'm keeping a close eye on the output errors, and collisions. However, I'm afraid that this did not rectify the issue and the users are still experiencing intermittent connection dropping to their file shares over the VPN!
I am working on a Drupal site which is on a virtual server (the way it's been explained to me). I've been told I need to work with it through webdev. So I can copy a file off the server and onto my local machine. I make my edits and then try to upload it to the server. I get locked out with the message: Error 0x80070021: The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file. I have tried shutting down my code editor, opening and closing the connection, tried different methods of reaching the server (Cyberduck and through Window's map network feature) to no avail. What can I do?
I've networked 2 PCs both on xp, one home one pro, through the router/modem. I get an error message saying contact your system admin when I try to read shared folders on the home from the pro version - I am the admin! The other way works fine.
Some of my colleagues went away for holidays. When they came back, all 4 of them can't access the shared folders on the server. They could before they went away but now they can't.They can access the internet through the network however and other colleagues including me can access the same shared folders. It is a QNAP server NAS version 2.3.0 Build 0825T,The problem users run Vista and one XP. I have checked that all users are still granted permission to view the shared folders and they are.I can't understand why it would not work for them but work for us...
I have domain controller windows server 2003 and 30 domain members, and everything was working fineYesterday our xp client complain that they cannot access shared folders and files in our domain controller server. After some time i found that i can access the shared folder by name (\nameserver) but i cannot access them by IP (\XX.XX.XX.XX)
I am trying to share some files from my windows desktop PC, other windows devices on the network can access those files, but a laptop that runs Ubuntu and a WD TV Live, which runs its own OS cannot access the shared files. I had this problem a few weeks ago but it somehow fixed it self but the problem is back again.
Let me start off by saying both computers are running Windows 7 Pro x64, both have file and printer sharing turned on, use 128-bit encryption, password protected sharing is off and Windows manages homegroup connections.
Computer A cannot access its own or others shared network folders through the network icon on the desktop, I get the message "Windows cannot access \Computer-AMy Documents" and if I try to access Computer B it gives me "Windows cannot access \Computer-B". Computer B can access Computer A through the network with no problems. The folders have had the permissions set to Everyone.
I have got 2 workstations: test-pc and laptop-pc. Both 2008 server Sp1 x64 Both are added to Domain - 2003 server x86.My problem is:I cannot access shared folders on laptop-pc From test-pc if I am not physically logged in onto both machines. When I logged in as an administrator on both - everything is fine, but if I will turn laptop-pc on and leave it on Windows logon screen (without login) I wont be able to access anything on it.Is there anything I should enable/disable on Domain Group Policy to fix it?
I hav a Network area storage server where all my files are stored. The Folders are shared on the network the shared folders were working fine but suddenly i was unable to access these folders .I tried to Map the network drives by IP address that is ""\ipaddressshare""of the NAS server but was unable to do so. It Gave me an error message ""No Logon Servers are currently available"" . But when i put my server Name that is ""\servernameshare "" i am able to map the folders. Why am i unable to access my shared folders on the NAS server by IP address . I have checked the IP adress connectivity and everything but it is all fine .I can even ping by ip address of the NAS serve
My goal is to be able to login with a few laptops and be able to access internet and our file server's hard drive.
However, I purchased a wireless router and simply plugged this into the main router which allows internet access but does not allow access to other wired computers. If I directly plug the server into this wireless router with this router being wired to the main router, then the wired computers cannot access the server. It's as if it creates its own little network. So, I connected this directly to the main router which gives internet access but nothing else.
(Note: I cannot simply install a new main router.)
I believe I need a wireless access point, but I'm not certain.
We have recently ordered a laptop along with a docking station with the intention of connecting it with the desktop PC in the office. We want the documents folders of both computers to be synchronized and to that end we want to share the folders between each computer. However, to do so we will have to connect the laptop to the larger network in our office. Given the sensitive nature of the documents we only want the desktop PC and the laptop to be able to access these files and synchronize them.
Is there anyway in Windows 7 to specify exactly which computers are allowed access to shared folders on a computer? What's the best way to achieve the file synchronization between the two?
I have shared a folder on my server with sharing & NTFS permissions. I am the administrator and have more than the required permissions.
Yet when i try and access the folder from My Computer, it tells me that it is not accessible and that access is denied.Ive done the same for every other user who should have access, with no problems.
Ive also looked at parent permissions and inheriting and have found no reason for this.
I have 6 computers here at the office, 5 of which are on XP Pro SP3 and the my main computer running Win 7 Pro SP1. Well 3 of the 5 XP machines can access a shared folder on the 7 machine 1 of the other XP machines can see the 7 computer on the network but can not access the shared folder and the final XP machine can not see the 7 computer at all
Suddenly Can't access shared folders but others can . Laptop with Vista. Had many Mapped Network Drive issues about 2 months ago. Finally all resolved. Laptop was gone from our shop for about 2 weeks. Now it cannot see the Shared Folders (except for Public and Printers), and could not re-connect the Mapped Drives. Accesses Internet, can Ping the other PCs(all running Win7). Connect thru Wireless.
Why SUDDENLY, there are no shared folders visible on a Laptop?
Notes: This is the 2nd time this has happened. I changed alot of settings the first time. I re-checked all the settings this time.
Update: Magically works today 12-3-12. But what caused it? Why does Vista loose the ability to map network drives, when nothing
changes...I still want to know why for the next time this happens.
How to access files shared on a windows pc from a linux xubuntu pc? i tried to use the "Gigolo" app but it didn't do anything pyneighborhood saw the computers on the network but didn't able to go into the shared folders...
How to protect shared folders to denie access from server???i am really in need of a software where i can share files on network but i don't want the system administrator to access those files.
I supplied 3 numbers of SG300 series switches for the sole reason to have inter-vlan routing. I created 4 VLANs in the switches and made one switch as Layer 3 switch and other 2 as Layer 2 switch. Inter-Vlan routing is working fine. I am able to ping PCs from different VLANs. But I am not to access shared folders. Customer has installed Window 2003 server installed and it is in VLAN 1. There are some folders created in this server and it is very important for users to have access to the folders. Also, I am not able to access shared folders in other VLANs. I have created a case with Cisco small business and I got a reply saying that the switches will not support shared folder feature, which I think is not real. I am getting a very time to implement this solution in the network. I have a Sonicwall firewall after Core switch which is connected to ISP.
We've recently installed Windows Server 2003 at our small office for data storage, and have set up shared folders in the Win Server 2K3 for access from about a dozen Win XP Pro machines.Upon the first access of these shared folders from a Win XP Pro machine, we're required to enter a User Name & Password for the Win Server 2K3 machine:Is there a work-around for this? Perhaps some method in WinXP Pro to save the username/password? As it stands now, any time one of the WinXP Pro machines gets rebooted, or if the server gets rebooted, users of the Win XP Pro machines have to re-enter the username/password, and I'd like to find if there's away around having to re-enter that info.
I've got a windows server 2003 machine which access internet over a Netgear N150 router also I've got an static IP, now internet is working properly even I can ping my machine from a remote machine. Here starts the real problem, I've shared few folders which I can't access from any remote machine not in my LAN.Although I could access my server through remote desktop and everything else is working fine, I've opened port 445 on router even that didn't worked also Windows firewall is OFF.Now when I try to browse my server through \myserverip it shows me a blank window but when I tried to access it like:
\myserveripsharedfolder it gives me error which reads something like
"File and printer sharing seems online but server is not responding on port 445."
Recently installed an E4200 router to an MacPro following the setup as directed by Cisco Connection (connect Ethernet to router and then computer to router.) The wireless and the hard-wire connectivity works fine with accessing the internet. However, we have lost the ability to connect to other computers on our LAN via the Shared folder connection. This is usually accessed via the Sidebar (see image)
However with the E4200 in the mix, all we see is the router per its "given name" (what it was named on installation). I have tried to follow the advice mentioned in other threads, such as "Can't access network shares with E3000" and nothing worked-- and those threads seemed to apply to Windows and PCs anyway.

I have a router-based home network in which the desktop running XP media center is connected by cable to the router. There are 2 wireless laptops, one running XP home and the other Windows 7.The laptops can talk to each other, and the desktop can talk to the laptops. But I cannot access the desktop from the laptops. I can see the (shared) folders, but when I click on one I get the message: "You might not have permission to use this network resource..Not enough server storage is available to process this command." One solution suggested in several places is to change the IRPStackSize to 15. However, if I start the desktop in safe mode with networking, I can access the files.I can also access the machine using remote desktop. One extra frustration is that this is a problem that has happened relatively recently. It used to work OK.
