Certified Traffic Model (OSI Layer 3 And 4 TCP / IP)
Jun 23, 2011
I am looking for a certified (e.g. by the ITU) traffic model for the OSI layer 3 & 4. (TCP/IP). If there are definitions for different kinds of traffic, like idle-traffic (protocol only), surfing, file-transfer and all these mixed up.The reason why i am looking for it is that i am actually working at my bachelor thesis and need to simulate network traffic and its behaviour in/at a router. In particular i want to simulate the RTO (retransmission timeout) of a router with "realistic" traffic.
I am on the LAN attached to fa0/0 on R1 and I need layer 2 connectivity to a device on fa0/0 on R2. I'm not sure if this is possible with 1841's or not? I made a GRE tunnel between the two and was going to add a BVI and bridge the tunnel at each end with fa0/0 at eah end, but the 1841's don't support BVIs so I'm a bit stumped here! Would L2TP work here?
R2 is a remote router running C1841-SPSERVICESK9-M. R1 is local running C1841-ADVENTERPRISEK9-M. I can't change the remote router so if the answer is not support in C1841-SPSERVICESK9-M I won't be able to do this.
i have set up a layer 2 tunnel on my 887va router and the traffic transmits accross this to my second 887va. unfortunately, I do not seem able to get the layer 2 traffic from my host PC and down the tunnel.
I believe the problem to be the router settings for the fastethernet aqnd forwarding this data out of the dialer port.
Here is my config:

link where to download user manual and/or Technical manual for Linksys RV042 Dual WAN VPN RouterDoes the Linksys RV042 Dual WAN VPN Router AGGREGATE the bandwidth of the two WAN Ports for LAN use or how does it operate?Does it manage traffic on Layer 7 (Application Layer);can i configure say, yahoo messenger traffic to take priority over youtube traffic or http traffic over download/upload traffic or such?Does it have DYNAMIC bandwidth allocation/management feature? Can i Guaranteed Bandwidth Allocation for a particular user or IP Address?Does it have TCP Ack Prioritization feature? Can i direct site(s) traffic, say cisco.com and/or port or service to use a particular WAN port?If this product cannot handle this features?
i want to to ask about redirecting in MLS 7600 .assume the user a has an ip x.x.x.xand that user requested url...i want to to redirect his request to url...the users that have to pay the monthly bills , i want to give thim an ips and redirect all the http requests from this to a special local webpage .is is applicable to to it on router cisco 7600 ??or is it applicable on router 7206 npeg2 ? also i have siwtch 2960g.i dont want to do it by proxy server.
What are the benefits of using a Layer 3 switch as opposed to a router for distributing traffic? Basically the building I work in has a fiber line coming in which then gets connected to a Level 3 switch (NetVanta 1534) which is then connected to all the ethernet ports and what not. Why would they choose to use this device as opposed to a router? Or just a regular Layer 2 switch?
Is the E4200 DLNA certified? The spec indicates a "UPnP AV media server" but mentions nothing about DLNA. Cisco is a member of DLNA, so what gives? Will DLNA devices like blu-ray players work with the E4200 and be able to stream media from a USB drive attached to the router?
I'm very disappointed with this EA4500 DLNA feature this is one of the main reasons why i got this router. My Sammy TV can detect the USB that is attached and is able to view the files in the drive but when you play any video file larger than 1gb it does not work even shuts down my TV.Only on smaller files does it work flawlessly I know its not the TV because I have played those files on my previous Router (Netgear WNDR3800) and they even work when i connect the hard drive directly to the TV has any one else had this issue happen to them?
I am taking an introduction class to CCNA and we are focusing on the Application Layer, and I'm having some difficulty in understanding what is an Application Layer Service. Is the Application Layer Service the same as Application Layer Software?
Point me in the right direction to determining what Cisco router model will fit in certain situations. I don't want someone to just tell me what I need, I want to be able to determine it for myself.I figure that some of the things that need to to be taken into account are processing power, memory, physical port needs, features available and services going through the router.
I have just reinstalled windows vista on my dell inspiron 1318 and now my wireless is not working. I think I might need to reinstall the driver for my wireless card but how do I know which driver to install.

i am gonna using Peplink Manage 580 which support 5 WAN ports.because my country ISP just provide max 20Mbps internet service to business. that's why i want a load balancer that support 5 WAN ports.i plan to use 5 line which is 20Mbps each and connect to the 5 WAN ports.after connect to Peplink balancer, there is only 1 Gigabit LAN port to let me to connect to the switch.
And i need a at least 40 port of switch which all the 40 LAN cable will connect to TP-link AP.mean that all my client is using WIFI to access to the network. And i don't have much knowledge about networking, so i wish to use and unmanaged switch which able to handle 400-700 clients.any plug and play unmanaged network switch (at least 40 port) introduce?

I can't find a way to enable UPnP or anything like it on my Motorola model 3360. I play online with my new xbox 360 and I have constant connection issues because it tells me my UPnP isn't enabled. I know my router isn't the problem because the problem continues even when my xbox is directly connected to the modem.
We have a Belkin Play N600 model F7D8302 v1 duel band router. It connects to the Blue Ray player about 40' away in living room and to ipad mini used about 15' in adjacent bedroom.I will not connect to the ipad when farther than 20' away anywhere in the house. I moved the router away from the computer as suggested in the manuel, still same problem. I tried to get support from Belkin and they said this is not listed as a supported product without buying something on their website. If I spend any more money, it won't be to Belkin as I have only owned this router 2 months now.
I just replaced my 2Wire with PACE DSL Gateway Model 4111N. I am using the 2Wire filter in the phone jack to split the DSL and phone signals. Is there a different filter that will increase my signal strength?

Our company is in the process of replacing our old firewall with a Cisco ASA since our old firewall can handle only 170 concurrent users and we are expanding fast. Can I know what are the considerations when selecting from the different models of ASA currently we are debating if we should buy a 5510 or a 5520 also can I know if cisco ASA also have a limitations on concurrent users online in a lan like our old firewall. By the way we are a Call Center company(going 500 seats) so we are using VOIP(Asterisk using SIP and IAX).
