TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: TD-W8968 - Printer Controller Utility Crashes Windows 8

Feb 13, 2013

Region : Poland
Model : TD-W8968
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : TD-W8968_V1_120926
ISP :

Recently I've switched to Windows 8 Pro 32bit (from Win XP) and since that moment I have problems with USB Printer Controller Utility. I was able to print test page successfully but printing larger documents (for example PDF file, about 15MB of data needs to be transferred to the printer) results in blue screen of death. Additionally if USB Printer Controller Utility is started "automatically wit Windows" switching user results in BSOD about 30 seconds after the second instance of Printer Controlled is loaded. Right now I've not found any way to use USB Printer connected to TD-W8968 while using W8. WhoCrashes states that the crash cause was Printer Controller Utility. It is very easy to reproduce the crash.

Both firmware and the utility was downloaded from [URL] According to this webpage TD-W8968_V1_USB Printer Controller Utility( For Windows) works in Windows 8.

Cisco :: 2821 Does WLC6 Filter DHCP

Feb 21, 2012

I have Cisco 2821 with NM-AIR-WLC6-K9 installed. And number of AIR-AP1131AG-E-K9. Now I set up trivial task to make WLC6 to work as bridge between on of WLANs and one of VLANs on a network segment. I have already attained the following: all is working fine while I use on my test notebook statically assgned IP-address. Broadcasts as ARP-requests are going through the network free. But as soon as I change IP assigning method I hear nothing on DHCP's side. Notebook is unable to acquire address through DHCP. But when I assing IP-address to vlan20 interface on WLC6 and set up correct DHCP-server all works fine again. Now with DHCP. But I don't want use IP on vlan20! [code]

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6509 - Captive Portal NM-AIR-WLC6

Nov 1, 2011

We currently have a very small basic wireless network setup and we are looking to extend access to our connectivity to guests. What we would like to do is being able to configure a Guest V LAN on the wireless connection that would display a disclaimer on the terms of use prior to granting access to the network. We are currently using a pair of AP1142N access points connected back into a Cisco 6509 w/ Sup 720.  The access points are not lightweight access points as the small number of access points we are managing did not warrant the need for centralized configuration.

We happen to have an unused Cisco 2811 router lying around and found a used NM-AIR-WLC6 on E bay that appears to be the most inexpensive wireless controller that I can find.  Will this support a captive portal?

Is there a way to implement a captive portal without a wireless LAN controller?  Are there devices that can placed into our network that would provide captive portal services to both wireless and specified wired switch ports (or inline to an entire switch of wired ports)?

We do not need any type of authentication with the captive portal, just simply a disclaimer with the terms of use.  If there is a way to do it without additional devices that would require authentication, we would consider a guest/guest username/password combination to accomplish this.

Cisco Wireless :: 4404 Guest Anchor Controller With 5508 Foreign Controller?

Aug 12, 2012

I know that the 3600 series APs are not supported on the 4404 WLC.  However, would the following scenario be supported? I would like to use the 4404 (software rel. 7.0) as a guest anchor with a 5508 (software release 7.2) as the foreign controller supporting series 3600 APs.  I ask because the APs do not need to join the guest anchor.

Cisco Wireless :: 5500 / Controller Versus Cloud-based (Controller)

Mar 31, 2013

We are trying to navigate the waters in choosing between a in-house, controller-based, wireless network solution or a cloud-based solution. We have been presented with the usual suspects in cloud-based (Aerohive, Meracki, etc) and with Cisco (5500) and Aruba on the other side. We are a multi-campus organization with approx. 200 APs.Any hard reasons why go with a controller-based vs. cloud-based solution? If we must keep the conversation limited to Cisco, why go Meracki over Cisco's WLC solutions or vise versa?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 2125 Wireless Controller Without Anchor Controller Just Using Existing Hardware

Dec 6, 2012

I am looking to configure a wired and wireless guest network. I have industrial barcode scanners that connect to one SSID and then there is the business network on the office SSID (no vlan seperation for these devices just different SSIDs). There is not really a need to seperate the business network from the scanners in any case. However, there are needs for a guest network and this needs to be seperated. At the bare minumum I would like to have the wireless guest network. Here is what I have: 2125 Wireless LAN controller managing 18 LAPs (1 indoor and 17 outdoors)Cisco Cat 2950 switches (2 x 24 port and soon to be replaced with 2 x 48 port 2960's with 802.1x capability) Sonicwall TZ210 firewallOne existing wired and trunked vlan for PLC infrastructure. One ESXi hosting Windows server guests (soon to be 2 with vMotion) The reason for the wired guest access network is tp prevent anyone from plugging into the wall jack in the office with thier home laptops or anyone else from being on the same subnet as our domain machines. Granted they would be unathenticaed but there would be no layer 2 seperation and that is what I think would be best.

How would I go about doing this on the wireless controller without an anchor controller just using my existing hardware? I would like to have the Guest SSID only availible in the front office. Is it possible to offer a guest network while still servicing the business network SSID on the same access point? Then might I be able to have the guest network be treated as it should at the controller? However this might present another issue altogether as the guest traffic will be over the same wire as the business SSID until it hits the controller for management.

Cisco VPN :: AnyConnect 3.1 Crashes On XP SP3?

Sep 12, 2012

We just upgraded our AnyConnect clients to the lastest 3.1 and some XP users were having issues.  One PC was able to upgrade to SP3 and it resolved the issue.  However, we still have several PC's on XP SP3 and are able to install the client manually, but when you go to connect, it sits at Posture Assessment: Initiating... and eventually gives you "Cisco Scaner has encountered a problem and needs to close".  It may also give you the same error with other applications that were already running on the PC. What should our first steps be?  If we try to connect in any browser, it gives the same error with cscan.exe.

Cisco VPN :: Dual-WAN RV042 VPN And Crashes

Jul 25, 2011

First of all i have gateway 2 gateway VPN configuration (both same RV042 with same firmware) + QVNP clients

The first one that i have those lines in my log "Ignoring Vendor ID payload" which doesn't allow clients to be connected from the first time they connect after several retries, or can't connect at all. I've doublechecked ports opened, and 500 is blocked by ISP. Also double checked, tried turning on and of Windows machine firewalls and etc - nothing worked. What would be the solution? should i manage to call my ISP and ask opening the port and it will solve my problem? HTTPS is enabled on router (this one i read in other topic)

The other problem is that one of my routers just stuck and i have manually to turn off, and then to turn on that it would start working as it was. Log files doesn't show anything. Router started to crash after the last Firmware upgrade.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5550 With IOS 8.0(2) Crashes

Jan 31, 2012

we had just installed our ASA 5550 with IOS 8.0(2) a couple of week ago.

2 interfaces from each slot are being used ie 0/0 for Branch users comming via MPLS cloud ,  0/1 for internal LAN users comming form Core Switch  & 1/0 for Server farm LAN   , 1/1  for Internet (outside)

the first 3 interface are considered inside with sec set at 100   while the 1/1 is outside with sec at 0.

Last night it suddenly started dropping all connections without any warning  or any noticible log form the ASDM logging.

the connection drop would happen for 2 - 3 minutes and would work fine for the next 15 minutes or so..

after conencting the console , we found out that the IOS would suddelny go abrupt and show this display ...

Cisco 15.x ISR G2 Router Crashes / Hangs When Doing NAT

Jul 10, 2012

Any issues on Cisco ISR / ISR G2 routers running 15.x  code while doing NAT for large quantities of users (3000+) involving lock ups? This seems to be an ongoing issue for a customer. The symtom is present on 2811, 2911 and a 3945. The 3945 never spikes over 10% processor or memory utilization, yet still has these issues. The routers have been tested running 15.0(1)M5, 15.0(1)M7 and 15.1(4)M4 which all showed simular results. Other router side services are running such as NetFlow v9 to two destinations. Another interesting symtom, doing a "show ip nat translations" command will crash the router if executed at its peak usage period. NAT is to a single IP (sourced from outside interface), not a pool.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Crashes ISP's Modem

Oct 1, 2011

I started having an issue with my modem earlier this week where drawing a large amount of bandwidth will cause it to crash. I called up my ISP (Mediacom) yesterday and had someone over to swap the modem out, but the problem is still there. The only solution I was able to find is if there is a direct link to the modem from my computer (ie, not connected to router anymore) then the modem never shuts down. I have no idea what on the router could cause the modem to shut down under heavy loads. And the loads I am describing are anything from streaming HD videos to downloading game through Steam. Normal web browsing is fine though. What I can do on the router (or configure on the modem; it's an RCA DCM425) to keep this from happening?

Cisco VPN :: ASA5505 Crashes When AD Agent Is Unreachable

Mar 15, 2013

in my test LAB i have used a 5505 running 9.1.1.I have setup a DC (2008R2) and then AD Agent.I have configured and used Identity firewall rules which worked like a charm.I have also used LDAP Auth which also worked fine.I then disabled all the rules but kept the identity firewall checked.Since it was a lab environment, i had to remove the DC for other tests.A few hours later the ASA initially was stuck.I used the console and i saw it could ping noone! not even directly attached PCs or defgw (i  was able to ping them before it stucked).No arp table also!the asa did no NATing so no xlate entries were vavailable.Then i sshed to it.I got a blank screen and from console i could see cpu-usage from ssh to 20%I opened a second ssh: nothing. Blank Screen again. cpu-usage from ssh to 40% (overall ~50%)I opened a third ssh: nothing. Blank Screen again. cpu-usage from ssh to 65% (overall ~75%)I issued reload from console! Nothing! it was trying to shut down!I issued reload quick-> that is when console was lost!!I have to unplug it.

The DC that was removed was also the DNS for the ASA.The only log message i could see, before it stuck was "AD Agent is out of reach".i have ttried this 4 times. Always the same. 100% reproducible.I disabled the identity firewall-> no problem! it worked for days.100% reproducable.I downgraded to 8.4.5--> the same for both above actions.

We recently upgraded our 5505s to 8.2(5) 26 and noticed that each will crash after a cerntain amount of time.  Some crash every 30 minutes other will crash every 4 to 8 hrs.  The only difference would be the user's home ISP and/or home router, if they have one.  They are configured with a dynamic dhcp IP address for the outside interface and the crash files starts with the following:When we downgrade back to 8.2(5) 13 the problem goes away. Any known bugs for this version?  I haven't been able to find anything yet. We do have one 5505 that does not have this issues.  The only thing that may be different is that it was never at 8.2(5) 13.  We had downgrade it from a 8.3 version.

LAN Crashes When Computer Is Turned On / Wakes Up?

May 11, 2011

If I have anything else connected to the network (anything being my Xbox 360, or my smartphone) and I turn on/wake up my computer, the entire network crashes and I have to power cycle the router and modem in order to get it to work again. What would even cause this? I often forget to turn off the wifi on my smartphone before I turn on the computer, which results in a lot of very tedious power cycling. It's also frustrating if I'm playing some vidya on the 360 and my wife gets on the computer, resulting in me getting kicked off and her unable to even do what she wanted to do in the first place.

The stranger part is that if I have my computer already on, and I turn on the 360/smartphone, it works fine. So there's something going wrong in the process of my computer connecting to the network, I guess. I have set a static IP, and I also made sure to turn off the energy saving feature of my wifi card, but neither of those things solved the problem.
