D-Link DIR-655 :: Crashes ISP's Modem
Oct 1, 2011I started having an issue with my modem earlier this week where drawing a large amount of bandwidth will cause it to crash. I called up my ISP (Mediacom) yesterday and had someone over to swap the modem out, but the problem is still there. The only solution I was able to find is if there is a direct link to the modem from my computer (ie, not connected to router anymore) then the modem never shuts down. I have no idea what on the router could cause the modem to shut down under heavy loads. And the loads I am describing are anything from streaming HD videos to downloading game through Steam. Normal web browsing is fine though. What I can do on the router (or configure on the modem; it's an RCA DCM425) to keep this from happening?

When I go to get a list of servers when playing games online, my router lights up and then crashes, and I cant get on the internet again until I exit the game. Although, some games do work. There are no problems with my firewall, and if I connect directly to my modem, I can play fine.

'm having the same problem my tp-link freezes several times a day and only a hard reset will get it working again. I have no idea how to fix it, I have contacted tp-link support and they say to make sure I have all the right ADSL configuration parameters.

Aug 3, 2009Have 13 DCS-920 Every few days a few random cameras will will hang/become unresponsive at random intervals. The cameras require that I unplug the cameras before they will respond. When the cameras are unresponsive I cannot access the camera via a web browser, the D-View Cam software, or the setup wizard. This is a problem as they are all mounted in positions requiring a ladder to access.
I have some connected via 802.11g and other hard wired over 10/100 cat-6 Ethernet cable.

I got a new TP-Link TL-WDR4300, connected it to my online pure sine wave UPS like I did with my previous routers with no problem.After about 24 hours, router crashes - no access to web interface, no internet (wired or wireless), must reboot to get it to work again.Router was replaced, same problem with new router.The firmware is the latest one and is customized for Israel because of 5GHz limitations.I was told by the representative in Israel that I should try to connect it to another AC outlet instead of the UPS.

Recently I've switched to Windows 8 Pro 32bit (from Win XP) and since that moment I have problems with USB Printer Controller Utility. I was able to print test page successfully but printing larger documents (for example PDF file, about 15MB of data needs to be transferred to the printer) results in blue screen of death. Additionally if USB Printer Controller Utility is started "automatically wit Windows" switching user results in BSOD about 30 seconds after the second instance of Printer Controlled is loaded. Right now I've not found any way to use USB Printer connected to TD-W8968 while using W8. WhoCrashes states that the crash cause was Printer Controller Utility. It is very easy to reproduce the crash.

Apr 24, 2011I bought my DIR-825 three months ago. The firmware seem to be from 2009, and the check-for-later-firmware functionality from the web interface tells me that my version (Current Firmware Version : 2.01EU) is the latest.
I don't believe that the firmware from 2009 is the latest, but have no idea on how to proceed.
My hardware in the web interface say this: (Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.01E
The problem I really have is related to PPTP pass through (I think), but I thought making sure I have the latest firmware is always a smart move.
So, can the firmware-checker of the web-interface fail, or do I have the latest firmware?
D-Link DIR-655 :: Port-forwarding Fails After Several Hours
Feb 4, 2011I am using DIR-655 A4 router and I have a server that needs DMZ and a PC that needs a port.So, I have set the dmz to 192.168.0.100 (SERVER) and set the port 2000(or any) to forward to 192.168.0.2 (PC).What I found out was, the port forwarding works well for several hours and suddenly it fails and won't forward until I reboot my 655 router. I am really tired doing this every day. I tried firmware 1.21 to 1.35 and non of them were good.I know that 655 has good performance compare to its price but I think it has world's worst firmware.

After the upgrade, i did a hard reset and re-entered the websites manually from scratch to the DENY list. I didn't even reuse the saved config file. And now the router no longer blocks any of the websites in the webfilter page even when i selected the ALLOW option.

Apr 13, 2011I cant get this damn thing to connect to the internet (att dsl modem). I have ran the installation cd mulitple times and also configured it using the http. If i reset it while everything is hooked up and it makes an internet connection using DCHP (I think its called), but i need a PPPoE connection.
It seems to change my password (the username one that access the modem). The way i know is it always has more characters that the one i was provided by my isp with (*****). I dont enter any information other than my username or password (IP is dynamic).
I have a westell F90-6100 as my modem.

Nov 27, 2012I have to reset my wireless router multiple times per day. Seems to just be our two laptops that fail to connect periodically, not other devices (iPods/cell phones/Wii). Both laptops have Windows 7. Router was replaced 2 years ago (went from Belkin to D-Link DIR-655) and the D-Link started acting like this a few months ago and is getting worse. I updated firmware on router last week in hopes it would fix it.

Jun 6, 2011I have just bought a TP-Link Wireless Access Point (TL-WA&01ND) and an ethernet switcher (TL-SF2005D).I have put the access point into client mode, allowing me to put it in my room and wirelessly connect to my router, allowing me to plug my PC in over ethernet and use the internet. However, after much fiddling with settings I cannot get it to work, as it continually searches for a network, and then fails to connect, despite the fact it is configured to use the network?I already have a similar setup with a netgear wireless G access point which works, and so I dont understand why the new box cannot do this when using what I believe to be the same settings.
Secondly I have an ethernet switch box which I bought to connect to the access point and switch the ethernet signal between my two PCs, my xbox and PC. This works fine with my primary PC (over my old access point) but when I try to connect my PC i get a DNS failure with auto IP settings and a gateway failure with manual settings, and other devices refuse to connect.
Internet Crashes Randomly
Oct 24, 2011My internet crashes randomly for no reason I can easily see. It usually happens when i'm running my minecraft server and something else that uses constant internet at the same time, such as pandora or playing on the server. it takes down our whole houses internet, and is really starting to piss me off because i run a full minecraft server so i cant really just stop it, and i cant afford renting one. it does this for both the wifi and lan.

Nov 22, 2011I have a Motorola SB5101 Cable modem, it connects to a Linksys BEFSR81 8-port router. A WRT54G and a vonage voip device also plug into the BEFSR81 lan ports. I am running Win 7 (32bit). When it works, everything works great, but eventually my pc goes link dead, there will be a little yellow apostrophe over the network icon down in the toolbar (next to the clock). I dont have to reboot anything except the BEFSR81 and then everything comes back up and runs fine for a few more hours.

May 11, 2011If I have anything else connected to the network (anything being my Xbox 360, or my smartphone) and I turn on/wake up my computer, the entire network crashes and I have to power cycle the router and modem in order to get it to work again. What would even cause this? I often forget to turn off the wifi on my smartphone before I turn on the computer, which results in a lot of very tedious power cycling. It's also frustrating if I'm playing some vidya on the 360 and my wife gets on the computer, resulting in me getting kicked off and her unable to even do what she wanted to do in the first place.
The stranger part is that if I have my computer already on, and I turn on the 360/smartphone, it works fine. So there's something going wrong in the process of my computer connecting to the network, I guess. I have set a static IP, and I also made sure to turn off the energy saving feature of my wifi card, but neither of those things solved the problem.

Cisco VPN :: Dual-WAN RV042 VPN And Crashes
Jul 25, 2011First of all i have gateway 2 gateway VPN configuration (both same RV042 with same firmware) + QVNP clients
The first one that i have those lines in my log "Ignoring Vendor ID payload" which doesn't allow clients to be connected from the first time they connect after several retries, or can't connect at all. I've doublechecked ports opened, and 500 is blocked by ISP. Also double checked, tried turning on and of Windows machine firewalls and etc - nothing worked. What would be the solution? should i manage to call my ISP and ask opening the port and it will solve my problem? HTTPS is enabled on router (this one i read in other topic)
The other problem is that one of my routers just stuck and i have manually to turn off, and then to turn on that it would start working as it was. Log files doesn't show anything. Router started to crash after the last Firmware upgrade.

Jan 31, 2012we had just installed our ASA 5550 with IOS 8.0(2) a couple of week ago.
2 interfaces from each slot are being used ie 0/0 for Branch users comming via MPLS cloud , 0/1 for internal LAN users comming form Core Switch & 1/0 for Server farm LAN , 1/1 for Internet (outside)
the first 3 interface are considered inside with sec set at 100 while the 1/1 is outside with sec at 0.
Last night it suddenly started dropping all connections without any warning or any noticible log form the ASDM logging.
the connection drop would happen for 2 - 3 minutes and would work fine for the next 15 minutes or so..
after conencting the console , we found out that the IOS would suddelny go abrupt and show this display ...
