Can't Connect Wifi - Fails Association Test
Nov 21, 2012I have a new Toshiba Portege. It successfully connects to 2 wifi connections but will not connect to a third (my home). I have other laptops connected successfully to my home network right now. So, the problem is specific to this machine and this network.
When I run an Intel diagnostic tool (Intel� PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility) I get a failure at the "association test". [Trying to figure out how to post a screen shot. I'll post it when I do.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Upload Test Error Test With Speednet

During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally speedtest.net) I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.
When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.
I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)
I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.
Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST
is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?
Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N And QuickVPN - Ping Test Fails Sometimes / Not Others?
Oct 23, 2009I have a new WRVS4400N VPN router and have set it up for VPN. On a separate computer I have a Verizon EVDO card so I have used that with a separate computer to access the internet on a public, routable IP address off of my network.
When I use the QuickVPN client, I wasn't able to get into my network (using ddyns.org) because I didn't have the "BLOCK WAN REQUEST" setting disabled so the router could be ping'd. Once I did that, I verified I could successfuly ping my ddyns name abc.xyz.com.
In the error log of the QuickVPN client, I still see:

I HAVE been able to make the connection successfully without any other changes to the environment. It's hit or miss, but usually a miss. Restarting QuickVPN sometimes works on the next try, but then fails if I disconnect and try again. Even when that ping error message is appearing, I am able to ping the host name at a command prompt without a problem.
Is something else on the router possibly blocking the ping requests?My router is behind a Westell F90 6100 DSL modem operating in bridge mode. The 4400 is obtaining the WAN address from Verizon(DSL) and that is also where I have my PPOE info entered to obtain the internet connection.

Jan 4, 2012I have two WLCs (5508 - v7.0.220 and 2106 - v7.0.116) that were NMSP connected to a MSE (v7.0.201.204) according to WCS (7.0.172.0)The MSE reloaded (Actually a reload command from WCS hung the MSE and it hard to be hard rebooted) and I ran into a NTP issue with the MSE running GMT timezone and WLCs running GMT -8. This was highlighted by the NMSP status testing tool. As a quick solution I changed both WLCs to GMT. The tool now tests all green, but the NMSP status remains Inactive for both WLCs and I have no client or tag information flowing into WCS.

SSH or Telnet to the Management IP address works fine. The Service port and Managment IP are in the same IP scope but different subnet..i.e 172.16.10 for Management and 172.16.99 for Service port. Also, as this set up will be HA (AP SSO) in future, for which DHCP is recommended for the service ports, just wondering if SSh will be possible.

Jul 26, 2011I have in the past downloaded the webauth bundle to a wlc 5508 running 7.0.98 successfully. I am trying to upload a new bundle after modifying the AUP but I get an error after the download to the wlc.
The error with FTP or TFTP is

I've tried to copy the unmodified bundle from the zip and get the same error so I don't think it's the login.tar file.

I bought some days ago Tp-Link Wireless Router (Model TL-WR740N - 150 Mbps - Ver 4.23) but I couldn't install it: when I do Easy Setup Assistant, the network status test always fails because of absence of connectivity. I can see that there are some problems by the lights of the router: the WLAN light switches on, as the WAN light and the LAN light, instead of being flashed. I tried to do the installation without cd but, clicking on 192.168.1.1, I didn't find the page to access to web console but the Telecom page of the status of my connexion (nb: it reports that ethernet is unplugged).

However, after much fiddling with settings I cannot get it to work, as it continually searches for a network, and then fails to connect, despite the fact it is configured to use the network?I already have a similar setup with a netgear wireless G access point which works, and so I dont understand why the new box cannot do this when using what I believe to be the same settings.
Secondly I have an ethernet switch box which I bought to connect to the access point and switch the ethernet signal between my two PCs, my xbox and PC. This works fine with my primary PC (over my old access point) but when I try to connect my PC i get a DNS failure with auto IP settings and a gateway failure with manual settings, and other devices refuse to connect.

Apr 24, 2011I bought my DIR-825 three months ago. The firmware seem to be from 2009, and the check-for-later-firmware functionality from the web interface tells me that my version (Current Firmware Version : 2.01EU) is the latest.
I don't believe that the firmware from 2009 is the latest, but have no idea on how to proceed.
My hardware in the web interface say this: (Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.01E
The problem I really have is related to PPTP pass through (I think), but I thought making sure I have the latest firmware is always a smart move.
So, can the firmware-checker of the web-interface fail, or do I have the latest firmware?

Feb 4, 2011I am using DIR-655 A4 router and I have a server that needs DMZ and a PC that needs a port.So, I have set the dmz to 192.168.0.100 (SERVER) and set the port 2000(or any) to forward to 192.168.0.2 (PC).What I found out was, the port forwarding works well for several hours and suddenly it fails and won't forward until I reboot my 655 router. I am really tired doing this every day. I tried firmware 1.21 to 1.35 and non of them were good.I know that 655 has good performance compare to its price but I think it has world's worst firmware.

If i reset it while everything is hooked up and it makes an internet connection using DCHP (I think its called), but i need a PPPoE connection.
It seems to change my password (the username one that access the modem). The way i know is it always has more characters that the one i was provided by my isp with (*****). I dont enter any information other than my username or password (IP is dynamic).

Since that upgrade, I have a handful (8 to 10) of wireless laptops that now refuse to associate to any access points. The thing these laptops all have in common is some variation of the Intel Wifi Link AGN cards. I have about 200 other clients out there working just fine.
I've tried everything under the sun that I can think of. Patches, drivers, the whole sh'bang.
Is there a known issue with 7.0.116.0 and these particular cards?
