After reboot WLC , the switch port was err-disable , the cause is link flap after we reboot 3 times , the switch port link flap err-disable every time? We don't know why the WLC rebboot will cause it , it just normal action on device the WLC version is 7.4.100.0 link switch with access port , no port channel , no portfast.
View 11 RepliesWe have a couple of IBM blade chassis with Nexus 4000I 10G blade switch in it. Four 10G ports from each Nexus 4000I switch are bundled into a port channel and connected to Nexus 7K. On the 4k end, one port in the port channel is doing down and coming up as an idividual port. After few minutes it is going down again and coming up as a port-channel member port. We have a number of 3750 stacks used as access layer switches connecting Siemens VOIP phones and then a PC that connects to the phone.
For example if I plug PC A to the phone that connects to port 13 I pick up an IP addressand all works as predicted now if I plug in PC A to any other VOIP phone that connect to another port on the same switch it goes in error disable state ITs like the switch is holding my PC mac address and locks it down with the port which in my case is Gi2/0/13.

I am looking to simply monitor Port-Security , Error-Disable and HSRP. I would like to receive an email when any of these are triggered.
Port Security - Port Is shut down
Err-Disable - Port goes into err-disable state (securedown)
HSRP - When HSRP standyby changes are detected
I need to receive emails with any of the able are triggered. What is the easiest way to do this? I know SNMP is the main option but I have never worked with SNMP and dont understand it too much.

I have found some samples on the FlexConnect setup for the controller side. However none of the documents mentioned how the switch port should be configured that goes to the controller and AP.
At this moment I have a Cisco 5508 configured in CAPWAP mode with 20 APs. I would like to use same controller for connecting one of the remote sites with 2 APs in FlexConnect mode. Current the 5508 to switch port is configured as 802.1Q port. All CAPWAP AP ports are configured as "switchport access vlan X" where X=capwap VLAN. Need to know how the switch port should be set for the remote site where flexconnect APs connect.

This particular one was having problems all weekend. Switch #1 encountered over 2000 interface resets. The corresponding VPC port on Switch #2 only had 13 resets.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running 3 WLC 5508, 2 of them running image AIR-CT5500-K9-7-0-116-0.aes, one AIR-CT5500-LDPE-K9-7-0-116-0.aes.
On the 5508 running the LDPE-image, I have 9 WLANs (170,171,180,181,190,191,281,282,283), all defined with admin status "ENABLED".
WLANs 180,181,281 belong to a defined AP-group, WLAN 190,191,282 belong to a different AP-group.
WLANs 180,181,190,191 are defined as H-REAP. The H-REAP APs registers without any problems at the backup WLC and switches back successfully to the primary controller after recovering from reboot. Unfortunately the WLANs 180,181,190,191 show status "DISABLED" every time the primary controller comes back and I have to enable them manually.
Doing exactly the same procedure with one of the other WLC, running AIR-CT5500-K9-7-0-116-0, I never face this problem.
We have some AP keep on disassociating. All together we have 21 APs in the building but only this 7 APs keep on disassociating in every hours.

We have some older Honeywell Dolphin 7900 Series Handhelds that have issues with wireless communication. Very unreliable communication. One recommendation from Honeywell is to disable the G standard and only allow B. Basically have a WLAN that is solely b radio enabled. I see that their are options to go B/G only or A only, but no options in the radio policy to go B only.
We are using WCS 7.0.240 and the controller is a WLC 5508 running the same code revision.
Is this doable on a single WLAN while leaving G available on other WLAN's?

Unfortunaltelly we have no hands-on suopport on-site, so just remote connection.Now we figured that the service-port and management interfaces have to be reconfigured. In case we can not reach the WLC with the new configured interfaces it would be useful if the WLC reboots automatically after time x to reload the previouse working configuration.So the question is, is there a functionality to create a script which reboots the WLC automatically after time x?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am testing rogue on wire using 5508 WLC and , I have a dedicated AP configured as rogue detector and configured the switch port where the Rogue detector is connected as trunk. I have plugged in an autonomous AP with open authentication to the same switch so that it can act as a rogue. On the WLC, I can see that Autonomous AP as rogue on Wire. But along with that I am seeing another AP as rogue on wire, even though i have plugged in only one Autonomous AP to the switch.

I have a brand new 2960S-48TS-L, plain vanilla with no extra module/boards etc. It boots up ok (the installed version is 12.2 (55) SE5) but then constantly cycles the following error, and doesn't accept any input whatsoever. After 5-10 minutes of cycling the error, the switch reloads and starts the process again.

I have a guest wireless network setup on a 5508 WLC using 7.2.103.0 firmware. Under my guest WLAN>security>Layer3 tab I have "layer 3 security" as "none", "web policy" as check marked, "passthrough" selected, "over-ride global config" as check marked, "web auth type" as "customized(downloaded), "login page" and "login failure page" as "login.html" selected.
I haveI have 4402 WLC's using 7.0.116.0 firmware throughout my company that anchor back to the 5508 for the guest network. The 4402 WLC have the guest network configured as WLAN>security>Layer3 tab I have "layer 3 security" as "none", "web policy" as check marked, "passthrough" selected.
I would like to disable the HTTPS for the logon screen and I am not sure what steps need to be done for this. I researched and found the command "config network web-auth secureweb disable". I set the command on the 5508 only and rebooted. When I tested I got a blank webpage with "http://1.1.1.1/fs/customwebauth/login.html?switch_url=http://1.1.1.1/login.html" in the address bar and had no way of clicking the accept button to get to the Internet.
Everything works fine again if I enter "config network web-auth secureweb enable" and reboot. Do I need to run the "config network web-auth secureweb disable" command on all the 4402 WLC's that are anchored to the 5508? What could be breaking my login.html page while using only http?
I'm about to upgrade a 5508 controller so I can do the pre-download to the access points, but in every doc I find, it says to disable the WLAN's before upgrading. This makes no sense. I'm just moving code over, why do I have to disrupt my wireless network in order to move code?

Please change the Layer 2 security policy."The template has layer 2 security with WPA+WPA2 enable and 802.1x.I have other WLAN template with other name and other SSID with the same security policies with no problem to apply.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been struggling with my WHS 2003 (Acer EasyStore 340) for about a month. It stated prompting me with port forwarding errors (DIR 655 router) a while back signaling that I would not be able to access my WHS via the internet. I ignored the prompts for some time as was not actually using the internet connectivity to my WHS.I then added a D-Link DGS-1008G 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch to the DIR 655 Router as I ran out of LAN ports when I added my HTPC to my devices.then my WHS started disconnecting from my home network. I could not remote into it wirelessly (via latop) using Remote Connection in Windows 7 nor could I access is via the drives I had mapped to it via my HTPC (wired connection to same router).i only know there is an issue when the server disconnects. As it does not have a dedicated keyboard or monitor I can only see the desktop when I remote into it wirelessly from my laptop. When it disconnects I can see the WHS icon in my tray go from Green to Black. And when I try to remote in, I get errors saying the WHS cannot be found.i started to think that maybe it was my DIR 655 Router. I did the following with no success:
- Changed LAN ports
- Changed network cables
- Upgraded the firmware to 1.35NA
- Reset to factory settings
- performed 30-30-30 reset
- physically forwarded ports for WHS (80/40/4125)
Given that I cannot solve the connection problem with the above router fixes, am I to conclude that the issue is with my WHS?
one of our customers wants to update the firmware of a 5508 wlc, but always gets the following error message:
Error Message %UPDATE-3-INV_FILE_SIGN: Error! Invalid image signature!. Image may be corrupt.
but the same image works fine on another 5508.the update was downloaded via a smartnet for the wlc, on which the update works fine. does the customer has to download another image for the second controller, or should the image work on both wlc?
I am facing problem with an outdoor access point AIR-1522-K-E series which is unable to join a wirless lan controller 5508. The wireless AP is able to get IP address from dhcp server and discover the Wireless controller IP address. After this i see following status messeges on the console of AP.

I just recently setup a network in my home and selected the D-Link DIR-655 router to manage traffic. It's not clear to me when this issue first appeared as I've been away so apologies for not having a proper timeline.The router is setup in it's default configuration with only the IP Address being changed due to a conflict with my DSL modem. I don't have any experience with routers and it seemed to be working fine so I didn't mess with it.However, the router goes into what appears to be an endless series of reboots making it completely unusable. This can occur anywhere from immediately upon a cold start power to a few hours into it.I suspected a defective router and since I had been traveling the warranty was of no use so I purchased a brand new router last week which is also a DIR-655. The new router is doing exactly the same thing as the original one.
If I disable the wireless functionality both routers perform flawlessly for extended periods (many days/weeks). As soon as I enable wireless what appears to be warm start reboots begin as mentioned anywhere from immediately to a few hours along.Since I am new to networking in general and routers in particular I thought perhaps am I doing something wrong and hence my post here.The f/w in the new router is 204NA. I don't recall the f/w release of the initial router but I did update it within the last month to whatever was the most current from D-Link. If it's important to know the f/w release of the initial router I will find it for you.
Two (2) DIR 655 routers appear to enter a state of perpetual warm start reboots whenever wireless functionality is enabled. This begins anywhere from immediately to a few hours after a router cold start.Disabling the wireless functionality completely stabilizes both routers.
A few weeks ago I noticed that at 9:00am sharp every morning my internet access dropped, and would come back up four minutes later.
The router is connected to a DSL-526B in bridge mode. My first thought was that the modem was playing up, so I factory reset it and reconfigured it.
I checked my ACLS and didn't see any rules that started or ended at 9:00 am so I just lived with it for a week or so until it got so annoying I contacted my ISP to see if they were resetting anything at 9am.
By accident, I saw that my wireless radio was being enabled aat 9:00am, as it had been for the last 2 years, when I first bought the router. But this problem has only started a few weeks ago.
So I changed the wireless schedule to see if that was really the cause for the reset, and sure enough, whatever time I changed the wireless schedule to, the router rebooted at that time.
I've also factory reset the router; twice; the first time I saved/restored my configuration, the second time I recreated all configuration from scratch.
why enabling the wireless radio resets the router, and why disabling it doesn't, and how to correct this behaviour?
