I'm about to upgrade a 5508 controller so I can do the pre-download to the access points, but in every doc I find, it says to disable the WLAN's before upgrading. This makes no sense. I'm just moving code over, why do I have to disrupt my wireless network in order to move code?

The moment i check on the client details, there is no client connected to that wlan and when return to dashboard, no more client connected to that wlan abc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have some older Honeywell Dolphin 7900 Series Handhelds that have issues with wireless communication. Very unreliable communication. One recommendation from Honeywell is to disable the G standard and only allow B. Basically have a WLAN that is solely b radio enabled. I see that their are options to go B/G only or A only, but no options in the radio policy to go B only.
We are using WCS 7.0.240 and the controller is a WLC 5508 running the same code revision.
Is this doable on a single WLAN while leaving G available on other WLAN's?
We’ve recently installed a 5508 w LAN controller for my organization wireless network and each time devices connect to this wireless network they receive an ip conflict error. All devices conflict with the ip address of IP address 0.0.0.0 with mac address 00-00-00-00-00-00.
All devices event viewer has this TCP error: “The system detected an address conflict for IP address 0.0.0.0 with the system having network hardware address 00-00-00-00-00-00. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.” We previously experienced the same ip conflict with 12000 w LAN network that he had used as proof of concept.
We are having 5508 controller with Lightweight access points 1142, IS it possible to disable 802.11a on certain access points before turning it off completely on the controllers?? Could you provide steps for doing so on WCS?

Because there is one area we cannot layout the cable. How to add the repeater and how to configure the repeater in wlan controller network.
Do i need the change the software of Wlan Controller to support Mesh Network or this version 7.2.103.0 can support the repeater because for 1 access point i dont want to upgrade the version.
I've got a couple new 5508 controllers to replace my 4404's. Im wondering though if I throw them on the network to setup, will there be any conflict with the current access points? Will they try and join the new controllers for any reason automatically? Is there a better way, or a best practice to provision these new controllers?

We had our wireless mesh network running with 4400 Controller and 1510 A.Ps. Now that we have bought new 5508 Controller (with SW: 7.2) and 3600 Indoor APs, we are unable to add legacy APs on our new controller. After a wild googling I have found that for 1510 APs i need to be on SW ver: 4.0. But that will lead into another situation i-e I wont be able to have my 3600 APs on WLAN Controller.

We are now considering the Virtual WLAN Controller and all AP's will register with the virtual controllers and we will use Flexconnect for Staff and internal traffic that will switch their traffic onto the local switch.
We wish to forward the guest traffic to the DMZ Guest Anchor controller which will be a 5508 controller. We are looking to upgrade our 5508 wireless controller from 7.0.98.0 to 7.0.220.0. Reason being, we have experienced a lot of access points disassociating from the controller as well as client authentication issues. Upgraded from 7.0.98.0 to 7.0.220.0 and any issues during the upgrade or after the upgrade?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an AIR-AP1242AG-E-K9 which had c1240-k9w8-mx.124-21a.JA loaded, I followed the link below and upgraded with Cisco’s upgrade tool to c1240-rcvk9w8-mx with no problems at all, after the upgrade I could then see the LWAP on the 4402 controller and had it working a treat.Now the problems begin, I brought it into the office where we have 5508 controllers, plug in the LWAP into our management switch and boot it up I get an IP assigned from the DHCP server and the AP goes into discovery mode but never finds the controller.I have logged the boot process but this does not give much away, our other 1100 series AP’s boot fine,

And that is where she sits and does nothing more, I have noticed the DNS problems but the other 1100 series LWAP’s boot up after show that same issue.
I have a 5508 wireless controller running version 6.0.199.4 (the image installed when the device was shipped) and I am trying to install by tftp version 7.3.112.0
The issue is when using tftpd32 gets to 82% transfered then fails with the error "% Error: Code file transfer failed - Error while writing output file"
I have a 5508 controller, just upgraded from 6.0.182 to 7.0.98.0. Also LAG was switched off directly after upgrade.
Since the upgrade none of the 1142 LAPs are associating with the controller. I can see they are being issued IPs by the internal DHCP but putting a console cable and watching I am getting:

I know that the 3600 series APs are not supported on the 4404 WLC. However, would the following scenario be supported? I would like to use the 4404 (software rel. 7.0) as a guest anchor with a 5508 (software release 7.2) as the foreign controller supporting series 3600 APs. I ask because the APs do not need to join the guest anchor.

We plan to upgrade the 5508 to 7.3.112.0 and the 4400 is already 7.0.116.0. Will there be any issue if the anchor controller is not the same code as the foreign controller? View 15 Replies View RelatedI am currently running a Cisco 4402 Lan controller, I have a Wlan that is running unsecured and i wanted to add a simple web policy log in, so i set up an NPS server on a local DC. I have the two talking . when i go to login at the web login page I get the Error Login Error. When i look at the NPS logs it says: "Network Policy Server granted full access to a user because the host met the defined health policy" . So it has to be in my Cisco set up somewhere seems pretty simple
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently (within the past 2 months) I've been having some issues with my 4402 wLAN controller.
The issue is thus:
1) New wireless clients (those without exsisting DHCP leases) are unable to properly connect to our wireless network.
2) Those same systems (and other systems) have no issue getting online via a wired connection (where available).
3) Devices like iPad, tablets, laptops partially connect but do not get a valid IP address.
Our config:
1) DHCP is handled by a seperate server (NOT the 4402 - it's DHCP setting is disabled)
2) Our wLan is not on a seperate network than our wired LAN
3) Wireless devices attempting to connect include iPads and laptops mostly.
4) We're a school with about 300 systems (primarily Windows XP machines).
5) 25 access points controlled by the 4402 (our only wLAN controller)
Important Notes:
1) No configuration changes have been made to DHCP or the 4402 device in a couple years.
2) 4402 Software Version = 4.0.217.0
The problem first showed up a bit over a month ago. I first thought the issue was DHCP server related , so I started there and didn't find any obvious issues. I did restart the DHCP server (which at that point had an uptime of somewhere over 700 days).
I then also checked the web interface of the 4402 to see what it was reporting. I noticed a somthing:A) As shown in the "WLAN_Issue_EDIT.png" the client count on the controller is showing 628 current clients. We don't have many devices in our entire campus.
I rebooted the controller after hours and that seemed to allievete the issue. Since then, the current client count hasn't ever gone above 60.
Now today I'm having the same issue regarding new clients getting IP addresses. The client count isn't real high on the WLAN controller and I don't see any other obvious issues. I'm torn between this being a DHCP issue or the controller issue (or a combination of the two).
The reason I don't think it's directly DHCP related is that all wired clients seem to be getting address fine.Plus, I've set my tablet device to a static address and it still cannot connect via wifi.
**Update** I've now rebooted the controller and the problem persists (at least on the nearby iPad - Will confirm other devices shortly).
