I've seen a discussion about importing mac addresses into the mac filter db on a cisco controller but is there a way to export the mac filter db? I have a Cisco 5508.
View 2 RepliesWe’ve recently installed a 5508 w LAN controller for my organization wireless network and each time devices connect to this wireless network they receive an ip conflict error. All devices conflict with the ip address of IP address 0.0.0.0 with mac address 00-00-00-00-00-00.
All devices event viewer has this TCP error: “The system detected an address conflict for IP address 0.0.0.0 with the system having network hardware address 00-00-00-00-00-00. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.” We previously experienced the same ip conflict with 12000 w LAN network that he had used as proof of concept.
I have Cisco 5508 Wlan Controller Software version 7.2.103.0 and I have Cisco AIR-CAP3602I-E-K9 Lightweight Access Points network and its working fine now I want to configure the Repeater in this network. Because there is one area we cannot layout the cable. How to add the repeater and how to configure the repeater in wlan controller network.
Do i need the change the software of Wlan Controller to support Mesh Network or this version 7.2.103.0 can support the repeater because for 1 access point i dont want to upgrade the version.
I've got a couple new 5508 controllers to replace my 4404's. Im wondering though if I throw them on the network to setup, will there be any conflict with the current access points? Will they try and join the new controllers for any reason automatically? Is there a better way, or a best practice to provision these new controllers?

We had our wireless mesh network running with 4400 Controller and 1510 A.Ps. Now that we have bought new 5508 Controller (with SW: 7.2) and 3600 Indoor APs, we are unable to add legacy APs on our new controller. After a wild googling I have found that for 1510 APs i need to be on SW ver: 4.0. But that will lead into another situation i-e I wont be able to have my 3600 APs on WLAN Controller.

We are now considering the Virtual WLAN Controller and all AP's will register with the virtual controllers and we will use Flexconnect for Staff and internal traffic that will switch their traffic onto the local switch.
We wish to forward the guest traffic to the DMZ Guest Anchor controller which will be a 5508 controller. This will also offer Office Extend AP service.I have looked at teh virtual controller docs and not very clear if this deployment model is supported. I'm about to upgrade a 5508 controller so I can do the pre-download to the access points, but in every doc I find, it says to disable the WLAN's before upgrading. This makes no sense. I'm just moving code over, why do I have to disrupt my wireless network in order to move code?

We plan to upgrade the 5508 to 7.3.112.0 and the 4400 is already 7.0.116.0. Will there be any issue if the anchor controller is not the same code as the foreign controller? Two 5508 controllers have been installed in our DMZ for resilience and have been placed into a separate Mobility group. All controllers (internal and external) have been linked together as mobility neighbours in a full mesh and a new SSID for Web Guest traffic has been anchored to the controllers in the DMZ.
Web page authentication works perfectly fine, but I cannot for the life of me get the MAC filtering override to work, i.e. if a MAC address is present, do not redirect to the splash page for web auth. I know I can get around this by just creating two separate SSIDs. But the business is used to just having the one SSID for all guest traffic. Is this a known limitation when anchoring SSIDs to controllers in the DMZ ?

I'm new to wireless and I have 7 Cisco 1142N (AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9) APs. But The thing is I have to buy a WLAN controller for these APs. I checked on internet and I found the 2500 series Controllers are compatible with Cisco 1142N (AIR-LAP1142N-A-K9) APs. But I would like to know How can I find the exact supporting version of controller for Cisco Access points?

What we are finding is that we are able to stream to the AppleTV box when connected to the LAN and both devices are on the same subnet.however, as soon as we go onto the WLAN ( both devices on the same subnet ) , the end device can no longer see the AppleTV box to stream too.

Just bought two new LAP1041N APs to add to a dead spot on our campus. Well when trying to set them up the will not stay connected to the WLAN Controller (model 4402). The new APs boot fine, and will even appear in the controller for brief moments, but after a few seconds they dissapear and start showing the discovery status light pattern (green, red, amber). Just wondering if I am doing something wrong with these APs, or what the issue could possible be.We have 10 other APs that as soon as we connected to network were detected by controller and we configured from there. Most of those are 1010 or 1020s, we have a few 1131s and 1100s.
