Feb 6, 2012I'm about to upgrade a 5508 controller so I can do the pre-download to the access points, but in every doc I find, it says to disable the WLAN's before upgrading. This makes no sense. I'm just moving code over, why do I have to disrupt my wireless network in order to move code?

Mar 17, 2013We have some older Honeywell Dolphin 7900 Series Handhelds that have issues with wireless communication. Very unreliable communication. One recommendation from Honeywell is to disable the G standard and only allow B. Basically have a WLAN that is solely b radio enabled. I see that their are options to go B/G only or A only, but no options in the radio policy to go B only.
We are using WCS 7.0.240 and the controller is a WLC 5508 running the same code revision.
Is this doable on a single WLAN while leaving G available on other WLAN's?

Dec 12, 2011We’ve recently installed a 5508 w LAN controller for my organization wireless network and each time devices connect to this wireless network they receive an ip conflict error. All devices conflict with the ip address of IP address 0.0.0.0 with mac address 00-00-00-00-00-00.
All devices event viewer has this TCP error: “The system detected an address conflict for IP address 0.0.0.0 with the system having network hardware address 00-00-00-00-00-00. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.” We previously experienced the same ip conflict with 12000 w LAN network that he had used as proof of concept.

Now that we have bought new 5508 Controller (with SW: 7.2) and 3600 Indoor APs, we are unable to add legacy APs on our new controller. After a wild googling I have found that for 1510 APs i need to be on SW ver: 4.0. But that will lead into another situation i-e I wont be able to have my 3600 APs on WLAN Controller.

We wish to forward the guest traffic to the DMZ Guest Anchor controller which will be a 5508 controller. Feb 14, 2012We recently did a forklift upgrade on our campus and installed 3502i's, 3502e's, and 11 5508 WLC's. Our students are complaining about slow connections in several areas of the campus.In our testing and basic trouble shooting our Apple laptops have no problems but our windows laptops are showing a very slow connection rates 264kbps downloand and 366kbps upload. I am a sales engineer, so I use my desktop and laptop all the time. When on road, I sync my desktop with my laptop using a program called ViceVersa. This a very good, reliable syncing program that I have been using for over 10 years ( with upgrades ).
The program allows me to sync my desktop and laptop. The program also shows the data transfer rate during the syncing process. The typical data transfer speed is between 5MB/s and 10MB/s with sometimes up to 12MB/s. A typical sync between the computers will take about 3 - 5 minutes at the ~ 10 MB/s transfer rate using ethernet CAT6 cable inteface. At about 11pm last Tuesday,there was a Windows update on both my Vist and Win7 computers. On wednesday, I went to do a typical sync. The system has dramatically slowed to 59KB/s max. This is about 150 times slower than 5-10MB/s that I was used to for so many years. My typical sync was now taking about 2 hours....unacceptable ! I have tried everything to figure out what is going on and how to fix it but nothing has worked.
Then I tried to see what would happen if I disconnected my ethernet cable ( between the router and the laptop only ) and just sync using the wireless network. With that configuration, the transfer rate is ~ 2.5 MB/s which is not great but is much, much better than 59KB/s. I actually do not know what a reasonable wireless transfer rate should be since I never really did it before due to the faster speed of the wired configuration.
This is just a LAN. Only connecting my Desktop to my Laptop via the Cisco router.
How I can get my wired configuration back up to the 5-10MB/s transfer rate that it once was?

Feb 27, 2011Just bought two new LAP1041N APs to add to a dead spot on our campus. Well when trying to set them up the will not stay connected to the WLAN Controller (model 4402). The new APs boot fine, and will even appear in the controller for brief moments, but after a few seconds they dissapear and start showing the discovery status light pattern (green, red, amber). Just wondering if I am doing something wrong with these APs, or what the issue could possible be.We have 10 other APs that as soon as we connected to network were detected by controller and we configured from there. Most of those are 1010 or 1020s, we have a few 1131s and 1100s.
