When the front-panel WLAN LED light is solid, it indicates that the wireless segment is ready; it blinks during actual wireless data transmission. This is how it behaved for me until I added some MAC addresses to Advanced > Network Filter. Now it stays solid even during wireless data transmission. Even after a reboot. If not, how do I get the blinking back?

Looking at the manual for this router in regards to bandwidth restrictions.When you set up the Rules under Bandwidth Control does this setting shared by the IP range or does each IP in the range get that amount of bandwidth?
I have a new brand dell inspiron 1525 laptop and everytime i boot i get a message "Dell wireless WLAN card wireless network controller stopped working and was closed.
A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.Windows will notify you if a solution is available.I use windows vista premium and dell wireless 1390 802.11g.
When I was using my Linksys router, I had no difficulties setting up Windows File Sharing on my computers but since I upgraded to the DIR-655, file sharing have hardly worked. Sometimes I could get one of the computers access files on another, but not the other away around. Most of the time, none of the computers have access to the files on any of the other computers. Two of the computers run Windows XP and another one runs Windows Vista. All computers are on the same workgroup and able to connect to the internet through the router. When calling D-Link tech support, I am told that they dont support file sharing and that I had to contact each computer's manufacture's tech support on the instructions on setting up the file sharing (each computer is from a different manufacture). One of the tech supports did drop the slight hint that I needed to recreate the home network, but when I tried to do that, all I could find is the settings to connect to the router (which I had set up when I installed the new router) and to enable file sharing (which is already done) and to assign the workgroup, which they were all are already assigned to the same group.

"Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller stopped working and was closed.a problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."
Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

We care currently using an ASA5505 as our firewall and redirecting web traffic to a S160 Iron port. Recently the web filter stopped working and the only way to get filtering again is to reset the redirection.
1. Is there any available log information to find out about the WCCP process and maybe way it stops?
2. Are there keep alive packets or anything of that natural between the ASA and Ironport?
I have used all the spots on the form to filter mac addresses. Is there some way to add more? I have a lot of friends that come over from time to time. I also have plenty of my own wireless devices.I like using the mac address filter so not using it is not an option. Hopefully there is a way to add more, instead of being limited to a predetermined amount.

Of course, it doesn't tell me which entry is invalid and I have a number of them. After further checking.. I noticed that one of the MAC addresses is indeed invalid and when I remove it I still get the error message?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had no problem running both 2.4 and 5.0 Bandwidth. With WiFi password and without. It does it's job. The 2.4Ghz Range Plus works. I have set up the router on the 2nd floor at the highest it can go. And everyone get's full bars all over the house. I even get 4-5 bars outside in my car on my phone.
The only issue I have with this thing is a damn new netbook I got for Christmas with a Mac Address starting with 0C-EE-E6-XX-XX-XX. The Router finds the Mac Address invalid. In which I can come to understand cause seeing a Mac Address starting like that is completely new to me. Every Mac Address I have, started with 00 except the netbook. So now, I spent days trying to find firmware updates, patches, anything! I even attempted to spoof the Mac Address on the netbook but Microsoft has a bug on Windows 7. (I have the Starter Edition that came with the netbook)
Windows 7 Mac Spoofing works with WIRED Connection. But it does not work with WIRELESS Connection. I used 3rd Party Tools: SMAC and etc... I attempted Registry Edits, I changed even the value key to the "Orginal Mac Address" and it just wont change [New Strings/Network Address Edits included]. I have been banging my head about this for a week now. The Internets has many answers but they did not work. So Spoofing the Mac Address is out of the question. Until Microsoft fixes this bug.
Anyway: Did D-Link release any sort of beta update/driver/firmware or anything to resolve this at all? Is there a modded firmware to force the Router to take this stupid paradox of a Mac Address?

Nothing to do with Revision, cordless phones,I saw this asked once before specifically here, but it was never answered.After several attacks via our cable network and neighbors, we've HAD to turn on MAC filtering. There are TONS of devices attached normally so two situations popped up:
#1: What happens when you max out the authorized MAC address listings? Does the page get longer when you save/reboot it? Do I have to do it manually from there forward and where can I get down to the core programming level to edit the code and put the MAC's that are around and on 100% of the time to open up the plug-in list on the GUI?
#2: Guest Zone - we NEED a way to have random guests get on our Network with a different password we can randomly change to prevent the outside abuse, etc. but am I understanding what little else has been posted that the MAC filtering also covers the Guest Zone and therefore I have to stick them in there before they could simply log on with the current password? Is there any way to change/stop that without eliminating MAC filtration as a whole?
One month out of the box, my Dell Inspiron M5030 suddenly refuses to connect to my Netgear router. It can see the router as an available connection, but I still get an "unable to connect" error. Since I run a SBS2008 in my home, I also have the 655's DHCP disabled.If I enable Network Filtering, everything inbound/outbound on the LAN ports works except accessing the Admin page. The DSL light comes on (green), however, the WLAN light doesn't light up and the 'inetrnet' light stays on red. My laptop is saying cannot detect network, but is detecting other wireless networks in area (so not laptop prob). Did all the unplugging, turning everything off and even pressing the reset button on the back of the router but its still not working. Tried plugging in a USB cable directly from router to laptop and 'internet' light flashed green for 1 second then went back to red and still not working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Studio 1537 running on Windows Vista? my computer stopped being able to connect to the internet a few days ago and a "Dell Wireless WLAN Controller closed and stopped working" (or something along those lines) box would keep on popping up. I did some reading around on the internet and decided that maybe I needed to update the "drivers" for it so I went to the Dell website and downloaded the most recent version for my Dell Wireless 1510 WLAN mini card...that didn't seem to work any after I installed it. So I went ahead and uninstalled it (I assume I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have) and now I'm stuck at the same problem. I can't connect to the internet!In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, it doesn't list the card there, although it lists "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was working on the computer and internet just stopped, checked the router and it doesn't show up in air-port pref on my Macbook Pro anymore. It was still on my iPhone, and then a few minutes later disappeared from my iPhones network as well. I've tried hard resetting etc, network name doesn't show up anymore, on ethernet to the modem now but tad uncomfortable sitting on the living room since I have the router and modem in my entertainment center.
All the lights work fine, and it lights up like normal but network went "poof".
Typing in ip of 192.168.0.1 just says google chrome cannot connect to that page. I had to play with my Mac for awhile as it wouldn't connect by ethernet till I figured out I had to uncheck passive FTP from Proxies.
I record on motion to an external drive using samba. I get around 20MB before it just stops recording (samba full condition signaled). This is a one TB drive with nothing much on it.

All those are working fine.I have a few requirements for an outdoor access point... not a RAP or MAP, but just a simple outdoor AP. I assume that if I use a 1552e for that requirement, I would place the mode in local, rather than in bridge mode, correct ? Also, a question on mac filtering. When setting up the mac filter, there is a drop down selection for "interface name". The radios seem to work fine with "none" selected, so I'm confused about what exactly that selection is doing. Is it simply a reference lable, or does it actually have a purpose?

I've tried everything to fix it.It's a D-Link DWA-525 802.11n Wireless PCI netowrk adapter. On device manager it just says 802.11 Wireless LAN Card with a yellow exclamation next to it. And when I check what the error is, it's either error 31 or 52 at different times, depending what I've tried to do to fix it.I tried downloading the driver for it off the D-Link website, nothing happens at all when I install it. I tried taking it out of my computer and plugging it in. I tried enabling it and disabling it on device manager.I noticed one thing, when it's in my computer the green light at the back that says activity next to it isn't on.

I have the two talking . when i go to login at the web login page I get the Error Login Error. When i look at the NPS logs it says: "Network Policy Server granted full access to a user because the host met the defined health policy" . What i am trying to set up: Internet --> Modem (Netgear CGD24N) <---> Router <---> Everything else (2 Xbox's, 5 Computers, Phone's)
I have one ethernet cord from my netgear to the internet port in my D-Link. Is that correct?
They are both set to DHCP as that is the only way i have been able to create a network that i can connect to the net through my router. Problem is it is constantly reconnecting and only getting speeds of 2mb dl and 1mb up. (I should be getting speeds of 30mb dl, 2mb up.)

When entering config wlan max-associated-clients max-clients wlan-id we got
"WLAN/Guest-Lan/remote-lan is enabled. disable to configure max associated clients."
GUI doesn't show that message, should it? In GUI, Is it necesary to disable WLAN before too?
I've been asked to create 2 wireless networks for guest access. They are to be used by clients of 2 different companies and they have asked for the website of each company to automatically open as a landing page. e.g.
-WLAN1 - password is companyname1 - landing page = www.companyname1.com
-WLAN2 - password is companyname2 - landing page = www.companyname2.com
Is this possible with our 5508 WLC? I have googled it and can see that you can set a web auth page but I need different landing pages depending on which WLAN is connected to.
I have been trying to get this setup for 2 days now and so far NADA.....
Router: Linksys E3000 - below is a list of all devices connected (hardwired T568B) to the 4 ports with a laptop connected via wireless
1. Main PC - motherboard: ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z (dual GB LAN ports)
2. Media Server - motherboard: MSI Z68A-GD80 (dual GB LAN ports)
3. Test Bench AMD PC
4. WD TV Live
Currently: I have all 3 computers running Windows 7 and connected to a Homegroup. I have given the correct permissions to enable sharing of files between each of the 3 computers and can transfer files from one PC to the next w/o any issues.
Desired: I want to connect my Main PC and Media Sever with a crossover cable using the 2nd LAN port on each motherboard, so that I don't have to go through the router to transfer data to and from these 2 PCs. I will have each PC also connected to the Linksys E3000 router via the 1st LAN port on each motherboard to supply the internet connection, so I am also not trying to "share" an internet connection between these 2 PCs. Basically, I want to run my home network through the Linksys E3000 and then a 2nd network for the 2 PCs using the crossover cable.
Current Problem: I disconnected the straight-through cables from the router to each computer from the 1st LAN port. I then connected the crossover cable from the Main PC to the Media Server and setup a new Home network in the Network and Sharing Center in Windows 7. Everything worked and I could transfer data to and from each these 2 PCs, so i know I wired the crossover cable correctly. Then I reconnected the straight-through cables coming from the router to the 1st LAN ports of each mobo, thinking that each PC would auto-detect the internet connection and reacquire my existing home network, enabling an internet connection again. However, this did not happen.
[URL] I also followed this how-to guide on microsoft.com, but when I get to Step 3 where it says that an "Unidentified network icon" will aprear in the Network and Sharing Center, it does not!
From Googling, reading, and troubleshooting I believe I know 2 things:
1. All of the hardware is functioning properly - when the straight-through cables from the router are disconnected, the 2 PCs are networked through the crossover cable and files can be transferred.
2. The problem is with Windows 7 somewhere - I think?

I also have a laptop that I would like to connect to my wireless network, once I get up and running. I then bypassed the router and have internet on my main computer so I know it is a router issue. I use the router for my laptop and cell phone. Since I've got it I get errors telling me the DNS server is unavailable randomly, so I reset my modem and router, do the ipconfig windows commands, but this time it seems as if the wireless isn't working. This computer is connected to the router via wire and can connect to the internet just fine, but any wireless devices cannot. On the front of the router the wireless icon is just blinking. Also, I am not able to connect to the router login page through it's IP address, it just times out.

I then updated the DAP-1522 to FW:1.21 from 1.1.
Things looked great. I then moved it upstairs to my home theater.
Plugged it in and got a blinking power light. Completely unresponsive to either linkage or 192.168.0.50.
I have followed everyone advice listed either here or in Amazons reviews. And from my own experience with similar electronics the flashing power LED is indicative of a "brick".
I have initiated a replacement shipment from amazon. Just wanted to see if anyone had seen this before.
The DCS-930L setup information refers to a steady green LED, but mine is irregularly blinking. Is this the normal, indicating connection working?
