D-Link DIR-615 :: All Lights Blinking Including Power?
Jul 11, 2012
I came home after a few days vacation to find all the lights blinking on my router. I have tried unplugging and rebooting. Same result. I then bypassed the router and have internet on my main computer so I know it is a router issue. I use the router for my laptop and cell phone. Do I need to figure out how to do a master reset or is the router toast?

I have been given the task of unbricking a WRVS4400N V2 router. It just sits there with the Power and Diag lights blinking and does nothing else.I'm thinking I'm going to have to try to find some way to flash the firmware, because I'm seeing that this is a common problem with this router.I already tried support "chat" online, but after about 20-30 minutes waiting for someone to actually come into the chat room, I gave up.I did note that this model is not being sold anymore and won't be supported before very long, so this may be a gigantic waste of time, but I thought I would give it a shot.

I am on a surge protector and we lost power last night. This morning we were stilling experiencing a brown out but now the power is back 100%. I've walked through the E1000 router reset and not matter what I do, all the lights except the power light blink rapidly and dimly. Could the router be fried even though it's on a surge protector???? It's less than 6 months old so hopefully still covered by warranty.

I successfully linked a DIR-655 (A4, FW:1.21) via WPS.
I then updated the DAP-1522 to FW:1.21 from 1.1.
Things looked great. I then moved it upstairs to my home theater.
Plugged it in and got a blinking power light. Completely unresponsive to either linkage or 192.168.0.50.
I have followed everyone advice listed either here or in Amazons reviews. And from my own experience with similar electronics the flashing power LED is indicative of a "brick".
I have initiated a replacement shipment from amazon. Just wanted to see if anyone had seen this before.

I have a Cisco E4200 router connected behind my Comcast cable modem.
The small LED lights located at each network cable plug-in on my router are continually blinking orange all at the same time over and over.
I also notice on all my computers that are wired to this router the small LED lights near the network card plug-in are also blinking orange.
what these orange lights mean and if I have a problem?
My internet service seems to work OK but I'm not sure what is causing all these orange LED's to blink and is there something wrong that imay be slowing my system down.
I have upgraded my Cisco router to the latest firmware and also power reset my cable modem and router several times with no change in the problem.

My previous setup was a ProSafe GS108 switch, 10/100 Dlink router/switch used only as a switch, and a DI-655 router/switch. With this setup, activity when I wasn't using any of my computers was zero. There would be no blinking activity lights.
I dumped the ProSafe and 10/100 switch, and use the DI-655 only for my internet uplink and wireless, and now have everything else plugged into a Cisco GS200 switch. There is activity now every two seconds. I presume this prevents the Green energy saving features from kicking in as the ports are in use.
What's the difference that's leading to all this activity that presumably wasn't there before?

I have an E1000 wireless router and after rebooting it from the web admin page it won't stop blinking. I tried following the reset instructions on this page but it is still blinking.

I can't access 192.168.1.1 via my browser either. Is there anything else that I can try before considering it defective?

I went online with a tech real quick before I found I beyond complimentary tech support. They say my router is working like a switch. I cannot get any wireless access and to the three direct connections to the router only one is working. The lights are constantly blinking, with the power light blinking every so often

I had successfully set up my new WRT150N router and it was working. But then it just stopped after about 12 hours. All the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When I directly connect to the router, my computer can't detect it. I've browsed through these forums a bit and tried a few things - the reset button (60 seconds), unplugging the router, downloading the EasyLink Connect tool, but I'm still stuck.

When I came home tonight, the lights on my E1000 hardware version 1 (that I have had for only 9 months) were, as best as I can describe, blinking like a digital clock blinks 12:00 over and over. All of the blue LEDs would light up at once, and go off, repeatedly and rapidly. This is the second time this has happened - the first time (about two weeks ago) I called a techie friend and he had me hard reset the router (30 on 30 off 30 on) and it worked, I just had to set up my wireless network again. This time, I just unplugged the cable from the back of the router, waited about 15 seconds and plugged it back in, and it went back to normal.
In case someone may be wondering, unplugging the from the surge protector did NOT work; when I first noticed the lights blinking, I unplugged it from the surge protector, waited about 10 seconds, and plugged it back in; the lights continued their rapid erratic blinking. I then did what I described above - I plugged it back into the surge protector, and then unplugged it from the back of the router, waited, and plugged it back in and it was back to normal.
I thought perhaps it needed a firmware upgrade, but checking the website, while I was able to locate the site to upgrade the firmware for E1000, I could only see an upgrade for hardware Version 2, and my router is Version 1 - which, from what I understand, is NOT what I want, as that firmware is for a different hardware version and may cause problems on my Version 1 router.
While my router seems to be fine now. Is my router starting to kick the bucket already? I haven't had it that long - bought it last September. Do I need to upgrade any software or firmware for it? If so, where do I get the correct upgrade for my hardware version?

I am replacing an old Catalyst 3550 (that has 2 Gig ports) with a 3750 (that has 4)- I used the exact same configuration in the new switch. When I plugged in the new 3750, the trunk ports started blinking from green to amber. I dont know why this is occuring- it SEEMS to be fine, but we havent thrown a whole bunch of traffic over it.

We recently installed 15 of these switches, and we're having a few odd, random network issues. But before I enumerate those issues, I have a simple question: are the connection lights on these switches *supposed* to blink rapidly? Or are they supposed to blink *normally*?On all other switches I've ever seen / worked on / worked around, when a cable is plugged into a port, the connection lights blink upon network activity. sometimes they blink a little faster when there's lots of activity, but mostly it's an almost lazy, random kind of blinking. When you look at a switch and every light on every port that's connected is blinking very rapidly, your first instinct is "No *wonder* nothing works around here!" and you find the port that's chattering and unplug it...all the blinkies go back to normal.Well, on the 15 switches we've installed, every light that's on blinks rapidly, as if there's an uncontrolled storm going on. Is that the "new norm"? Did I miss the memo, and there is nothing to be worried about here? Or are the rapidly blinking lights telling me there is, indeed, a problem?

We have a Cisco SRP 527W router that was not showing up on the LAN. so we tried a Factory Default reset but it seems to be dead.
The power light is flashing constantly, the 4 LAN light are constantly on,the DSL Data light comes on for 1 sec when device is powered up.
i have tried connecting directly to a PC, the NIC reports as network cable unplugged.i have tried the (power on device, hold down reset button, power of after 30 sec, power on after 5 sec, release reset button after 5 sec) but still "network cable unplugged".
the firmware flash utility will not find the NIC the device is connected to.the router is less than a year old, is there a fix or is it a warranty replacement ?

Thinking back, about a month ago I updated the firmware (I can't check version at the moment). The switch has been working fine since then. Today I needed to move some power cables and the switch lost power. Now ALL of the LED lights are flashing green and I can't access the switch. I've tried setting a static IP on my laptop to 192.168.1.20, mask 255.255.255.0, and accessing the switch on 192.168.1.254, but there's no response. I've tried holding in the reset button for at least 30 seconds while the switch is powered on, AND while powering it on. None of that has worked. Also when I first power it on, the system LED flashes orange very quickly for a second or so, then all of the LEDS start flashing green.

i tried to upgrade my BEFSR41 model 4.2 to a newer firmware (FW_BEFSR41v4.3_2.00.4.5_20080603_code.bin) and got a blinking power led. I've tried to power cycle (several times), reset (several times, 30/60 secs), unbrick (several times) and still have flashing power led. My connection to the router looks like:

I'm using an E2500 and the Power LED started blinking this week. From the manual, this means “Flashes slowly during bootup, during firmware upgrades, and druing a Wi-Fi-Protected Setup Connection.” We have a wireless printer (wireless disabled), and a Kindle that does use wireless. All other computers are hard wired. I have not started a Wi-Fi protected setup. The router has been in use since the third week in October, and is more or less OK even though the Power LED is flashing. How do I get the Power LED to stop flashing?

I have a problem with a LinkSys WRT610N router (v1).
I have just bought it used. The problems: I see the power led blinking all the time. I can't connect to 192.168.1.1. I do not notice any effect on the leds when pressing the reset button (I feel a soft click when I do that, but none of the leds seem to realize). The manual states that the led should stop blinking after the "self-diagnostics" ends.
My configuration is DSL connection (by AT&T, phone cable), a Siemens 4100 modem, an ethernet cable into the LinkSys router, then an ethernet cable into a Linux PC. Everything is wired. I see the green light of the LAN connection to my PC, the world blue icon and the USB icon stable on, a shy orange led on in the middle (wireless?) and the power blue led blinking. The PC is configured with DHCP, and I can access both the modem (192.168.0.1) and the internet. The gateway address is the one of the modem (again 192.168.0.1). In summary, the ethernet of the router seems to work, but the router is completely transparent, inaccessible, unconfigurable, apparently unresponsive. Trying to connect to 192.168.1.1 (the supposed default address of the web interface of the router, which is different from the 192.168.0.1 of the modem) I get a timeout error, and I can't ping that address. The modem is configured to handle the PPPoE connection, which I am not sure what it means but the text description suggests in this mode I should be able to access the router, provided that its address is not conflicting with the modem's. If I disconnect the modem from the router, DHCP does not get any address. If I force one, 192.168.1.1 still does not respond to pings.
So Is it normal not to notice any reaction when hitting the reset button? is the object just broken, except that the ethernet subsystem still works?

My Wireless-G WRT54G router has a blinking power light and the startup software says "Unable to connect to the Router! Check that the Router has been connected to the computer, and that your Ethernet adapter is working." I tried uploading the firmware but I can't get to the router page to update. Is there a known problem or solution here or am I just going to have to find the router page?

So I recently upgraded from a WRT54GS to a WRT160N v2, all was well and good for about 3 days. Then I would lose my internet connection every 5 minutes or so, it would fix itself by the time I could open up command prompt and start pinging to pin point the problem. I decided I would update the firmware to see if that would fix the issue. Since doing that the power light has been blinking non stop. I've tried restoring it to factory defaults by holding the reset button for 30seconds, turning it off for 2 minutes and back on. That little blue light just keeps flashing. I can't even access the router setting page using 192.168.1.1. My OS is Windows xp x64 sp2, and I have DSL.

No download available and none available via Linksys Live Chat or FTP and having spent the best part of the week trying to find relevant firmware on other forums I decided to come here to get answers to the following questions, hopefully from version 1.0 experienced owners or not.
#1. Can the firmware of version 2.0 and 3.0 be reduced to flash version 1.0?
#2. When diagnosing the blinking power light issue by connecting directly to the router and the network card using "ping -t 192.168.1.xxx" which network address do I use, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 to 2xx?
I get a reply using 192.168.1.1 but I'm not sure that works when using the TFTP Utility if it's the wrong address on my Laptop to ping?

I have a Linksys WRT54GS vers 7.2 Router on an iMac OS X Leopard. The other day I was in the middle of downloading an upgrade for the router when Firefox gave me this message: "Firefox can't find the server". I was no longer able to access the internet, and the router's green power light was left flashing. It flashed for over 24 hours. I tried unplugging the router and shutting down the computer, then plugging in the router and turning on the computer. (I don't have a modem.) The light was still flashing. I tried pressing the logo button for 5 seconds. Still flashing. Tried pressing the reset button in the back. Still flashing. 'I can't get on the internet or into the router. Linksys live chat gave me a link to "Upgrading the router’s firmware using the TFTP utility", which involves a download, but I can't download anything because I can't access the internet.

I've seen related to flashing power lights on the router involve fixes via firmware upgrades off a PC.I'm on an iMac os 10.6.7. The WRT54 used to work as a wireless modem a couple of years ago. Tonight, it doesn't. power light blinks. Can't access any webpage interface for the thing. Reset, power down, computer restart, cable modem turn off don't change anything. Is there anything that can be done other than tossing the linksys? If that is the only option, are there wireless routers more suitable for a Mac?
