D-Link DIR-655 :: Scheduled Enabling Of Wireless Seems To Reboot Router
Mar 1, 2012
A few weeks ago I noticed that at 9:00am sharp every morning my internet access dropped, and would come back up four minutes later.
The router is connected to a DSL-526B in bridge mode. My first thought was that the modem was playing up, so I factory reset it and reconfigured it.
I checked my ACLS and didn't see any rules that started or ended at 9:00 am so I just lived with it for a week or so until it got so annoying I contacted my ISP to see if they were resetting anything at 9am.
By accident, I saw that my wireless radio was being enabled aat 9:00am, as it had been for the last 2 years, when I first bought the router. But this problem has only started a few weeks ago.
So I changed the wireless schedule to see if that was really the cause for the reset, and sure enough, whatever time I changed the wireless schedule to, the router rebooted at that time.
I've also factory reset the router; twice; the first time I saved/restored my configuration, the second time I recreated all configuration from scratch.
why enabling the wireless radio resets the router, and why disabling it doesn't, and how to correct this behaviour?

I have a flaky internet connection, and it drops every few days. I've thus far powercycled my router by unplugging and plugging it back in, which fixes the issue.
I'm traveling soon, and would like to be able to have access to my stuff remotely, even after the connection drops.
I have two ideas:Run a script in Windows 7 which would soft reboot the modem - free, not sure if soft reboot is enough though. If that doesn't work, Get a hardware which would powercycle the router - haven't researched if these are readily available and cheap
Is there a way to schedule a soft reboot of my router using Windows system tools? I'd schedule it to reboot every night.
So I have bought myself a DCS-2121 with firmware 1.05, 4630. Everything works fine except that the camera does not seem to adhere my settings on the snapshots page. At average, it seems that only one image is sent to my FTP-server regardless of the interval parameters.
The scheduled recording or scheduled snapshots is not working. I am running the camera standalone and using the web based configuration, storing the images or avi's on a ftp or samba server.
No matter what i specify, it records when triggered (by motion in my setup). All the other settings like, samba, ftp, video, motion detection, and so on is working fine - but I can't configure it to only record like between 10-16 every day. It records all the time - no matter what I select and what I enter in the schedule scheme.

I started having a problem with a VONAGE V-Portal VoIP adapter losing connection to the Vonage server. I Unplugging the adapter and waiting doesn't solve the problem. The only way I can temporarily fix the issue is to reboot my TP-Link router. Once the router is rebooted the adapter can connect to Vonage. After a few hours it loses connection again. I have set the adapter to use a static IP outside of the DHCP reserved pool. This didn't fix the issue.
I have had vonage for many years and this router for the last 10 months and not had a problem until the past two weeks. Nothing only my local network changed. All of my PC's have no problems with internet access during the time that the Vonage adapter gets an Error 004 (lost connectivity). I still have connectivity with my ipod touch and other internet enabled devices as well. I was using 8.8.8.8 as my DNS server in the router DHCP configuration as well as the static value when I tried using a static IP with the V-Portal. I then switched all system to the ISP (Comcast) preferred DNS servers. The problem still exists. The only way to get the Vonage adapter back to running is to reboot the router.
I should mention I have Motorola Cable modem to a TP-LINK WDR4300 750N Dual-Band router. I have two Vonage vportal adapters plugged into the a couple of the LAN ports on the TP-LINK router. One vportal is my roommates, one is mine. Everything has been working fine for the last 6 months and now one or the other Vportal loses communication through the router, but the other vportal doesn't lose connectivity. It only happens to one of them and it varies as to which one will ERROR out.
I would like to schedule my boys ipods to be on the network from 2:00pm to 4:00pm each day.
Running the Cisco connect software it would appear I can schedule from 2pm until the next morning but not a 2 hour window in the same afternoon.
Looking through other posts I see earlier software where this can maintained through the Router firmware but with 1.0.04 I seem to have to use Cisco Connect.
So how can this be done with my current configuration ?

all my systems are configured under "IP & MAC Binding". Binding is activated globally and all check marks for every ID are set. After i finished my configurations, the "ARP List" status shows, that everything is bound - so far everything is great. The problem appears after a router reboot or after shutting the router down and powering it on again. The "ARP List" then shows only a few of my IDs and their status is unbound. I need to go back to the "Binding Settings" and hit "Save" - after that all my IDs appear in the ARP-List and everything is OK again.

1. Any device which is switched off (WiFi turned off) wont be able to connect again without a router reboot. I get a connection timeout error when trying to connect. Happens only when there are more than 3 devices connected. (all my devices are ARP linked to MAC addresses with fixed IP addresses - I thought this would eleminate the problem but not)
2. Streaming videos stop playing after 5 minutes. I have to click on the play button to start the stream again. When I test the internet speed through speedtest.net or speedtest.comcast.net, I get over 40MBPS consistently.
3. The router doesnt recogonize 3TB or above HDDs on either ports
4. As long as all devices connect to one channel (either 5G or 2.4G), the connectivity speed is excellent. The moment a device connects to the other channel, the connection speed fluctuates a lot on both.
I play Diablo 3 and the lag that is created when the router restarts as well as getting booted, along with apps on my phones locking up are about to make me throw the DLink Equipment against the wall.
FYI - the Comcast modem was just upgraded to the Xfinity Voice modem becuase I puchased two Voice lines last week. The issue was happening before the new modem was insatlled, and after. According to the Comcast Modem's status page (192.168.100.1) the modem has been online for 4 days, 6 hours, and 31 minutes. So I know the modem has not been cycling.
I recently installed a tp-link router everthing works ok. The problem is when I turn off my pc and disconnect it and all attached devices (modem, router ect) from the electric supply. When I turn it back on I have no internet connection until I reboot the pc a second time. This problem only occurs when I disconnect the router from the electric supply. If I just shut down without disconnecting then I can turn it on and it connects to the internet without any problem.
I just installed two FPS games.. My router reboot every time those game search for servers list. ( So i can't actually play those games) I have a dir-601 n-150 dlink router. I have successfully played online with another connection. I tried opening some ports, but it didn't work. The firmware is up to date.

I am having problems with my TL-MR3420 router, it disconnects WIFI all the time. This occur several times a day and is very annoying.
I have quite recently upgraded to the latest firmware but the problem seem not to have been resolved. It also seem that it is mostly the WIFI service that is the problem. The usage of wired routing is working even when the WIFI is disabled.
I have 2 computers connected to the router (via cable). The problem is that have to reboot the router several times per day because one or both computers lose their internet connection. This happens regardless if one or two computers are turned on.

I am using the Router in 3G/4G mode, with WAN only (PPPOE) enabled. I have set a personal SSID in the Wireless > Wireless Settings > Wireless Network Name field.
I do not see the particular SSID on my computer, instead on every reboot / restart of the device a random SSID is generated. see attached screenshot. I can connect and everything works well, but I have to enter the WPA key after each reboot.
I just recently setup a network in my home and selected the D-Link DIR-655 router to manage traffic. It's not clear to me when this issue first appeared as I've been away so apologies for not having a proper timeline. The router is setup in it's default configuration with only the IP Address being changed due to a conflict with my DSL modem. I don't have any experience with routers and it seemed to be working fine so I didn't mess with it.However, the router goes into what appears to be an endless series of reboots making it completely unusable. This can occur anywhere from immediately upon a cold start power to a few hours into it.I suspected a defective router and since I had been traveling the warranty was of no use so I purchased a brand new router last week which is also a DIR-655. The new router is doing exactly the same thing as the original one.
If I disable the wireless functionality both routers perform flawlessly for extended periods (many days/weeks). As soon as I enable wireless what appears to be warm start reboots begin as mentioned anywhere from immediately to a few hours along.Since I am new to networking in general and routers in particular I thought perhaps am I doing something wrong and hence my post here. The f/w in the new router is 204NA. I don't recall the f/w release of the initial router but I did update it within the last month to whatever was the most current from D-Link. If it's important to know the f/w release of the initial router I will find it for you.
Two (2) DIR 655 routers appear to enter a state of perpetual warm start reboots whenever wireless functionality is enabled. This begins anywhere from immediately to a few hours after a router cold start.Disabling the wireless functionality completely stabilizes both routers.
I notice that SPI is disabled by default on the DIR-600 (in firmware 2.10 and 2.11 as well).Port forwarding still works with SPI on (use it for BitTorrent). So why is it off by default?Does it slow down things?
I'm trying out the RV120W wireless router with the latest firmware. I have two APs set up with different schedules. However, the router fails to enable the APs as scheduled and I have to cycle the power to get the APs going again.

I have a big problem with several TP-Link routers (WDR3600, WR1043ND, WR741ND), always with the latest firmware and also with older ones. After a day or so, my internet & network connection will drop all of a sudden and all the routers need a reboot. There is no indication on what provoces these lock-ups. The routers can handle heavy traffic (bittorrent /w 100s of connections) but will stop working when browsing casually. The web-GUI will become unreachable. No pings to the outside are possible anymore, not even to direct IPs (8.8.8.8 for example). No pings to devices in the same network are possible either.
I have few inter-AS and Hub & Spoke MPLS L3VPNs up and running but, all of them uses plain IPv4 on the PE-to-CE connecting interfaces for switching the L3VPN customer traffic. While, this is ok to route traffic between customer sites over a ISP backbone using the VRF and MP-BGP/LDP configurations which does the MPLS forwarding in the ISP backbone, i would like to know, how to enable MPLS forwarding on the PE-CE links as well to make it MPLS right from CE1 - PE1 - P - PE2 - CE2 all the way for the VPN traffic.
This way, even the last mile access to CE devices will be an MPLS link over a Ethernet PHY so that, the traffic originating from CE1 to CE 2 will be carried on a MPLS tagged Ethernet frame instead of IPoEthernet frame.
After reboot WLC , the switch port was err-disable , the cause is link flap after we reboot 3 times , the switch port link flap err-disable every time? We don't know why the WLC rebboot will cause it , it just normal action on device the WLC version is 7.4.100.0 link switch with access port , no port channel , no portfast.
Factory default settings of my WRT54GS encryption are Disabled. When I try to enable WPA Personal encryption (>Wireless, Wireless Security), it reverts back to Disabled as soon as I make the selection. >Administration, >Wireless, >Encryption Function is Disabled. When I had this router set up at another location with another ISP, this was never an issue. How do I get the encryption function to be enabled?
I have a new HP lap top which I have connected to the net thro my edimax 7266 routerI also have another lap top and desktop connected via this router. This other lap top I can connect either wired or wireless so the router seems to be working perfectlyThe problem is when I enable the HP laptop wireless adaptor and try to connect to the net . As soon as I do this the orange light on the router goes solid from blinking and I cannot then access the net from any of the computers either wired or wireless. I have to disable the HP wireless adaptor and reboot the router to get a connection on the computers.
I have a DIR-601 and I'm trying to play the IOQuake3 game Urban Terror (UT). Every time I try to get a list of servers the DIR-601 stops and reboots. What is that? Flood protection? Something else?
When accessing the E3200 router using then ERROR 501.Not Implemented. That method is not implemented. The error occured after enabling the "Local Management Access, Access via: HTTPS" option on the Administration > Management tab.I tried different browsers FireFox (version 10), Internet Explorer (version 8,9), the same error was displayed and no acces granted to the E3200 router. I reseted the router and tried the latest firmware 1.0.03 build 9 Feb 1, 2012, but after enablib the option the issue occured again and it is not possible to connect to the router.
I have multiple computers on my network as well as cell phones logging in as wifi. At least once a day I have trouble or another computer has trouble getting on line through my network. I have to unplug my router and replug. Its as if it doesn't recognize the ip address until reboot.
This is my second post today trying to fix the NAT types for my 2 xbox 360. I tried the port forwarding method but with this router when I enable the ports I lost internet access in my wired devices but my wireless devices still have internet access. I even lost internet access on my computer. I never had manu problems with a router trying to get my NAT type open on my 2 xbox.
Any way to schedule a reboot of a DCS2102?I've got 3 of them here, and they are very good but every now and then they seem to stop writing to the storage. They haven't frozen cause I can still connect to them via a browser
I had to reset and reboot. I entered the router ISP and went through the 4 step process then rebooted.
My question/problem is now the router is wide open. How do I find page where I can enable the security settings and lock down the router to the outside world?
Have 13 DCS-920 Every few days a few random cameras will will hang/become unresponsive at random intervals. The cameras require that I unplug the cameras before they will respond. When the cameras are unresponsive I cannot access the camera via a web browser, the D-View Cam software, or the setup wizard. This is a problem as they are all mounted in positions requiring a ladder to access.
I have some connected via 802.11g and other hard wired over 10/100 cat-6 Ethernet cable.
