Wireless :: Ports Forwarded But Test As Closed?

Oct 25, 2011

I have my 2Wire AT&T U-Verse router properly set up to forward the port 25565 from my machine. (Incidentally, PortForward.com gives me a blank page when I try to look up how to do this.) However, when I test the port is indeed open ( Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router ), it returns as closed. Yes, I'm running the server software while I run the test. I only have the Windows Firewall, but I ran attempts while the firewall was completely disabled as well as with just the appropriate programs allowed.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Ports Forwarded Are Not Actually Open

Dec 9, 2012

I have been using Linksys routers for quite some time now, and recently made a big upgrade from the WRT54G to the E3000. I am familiar with the interface and its functionality. However, I recently noticed a problem: when I set a port to forward traffic to any IP address on my network and then check whether or not it is actually open (url...), I am told that the port is still closed. More interestingly still, the first port that I forwarded when I first got the router is listed as open, but the other half dozen or so are still considered closed. I have been trying to set up a file transfer protocol (FTP) server, but can't even get traffic to forward from port 21! I even tried using the pre-configured FTP drop down on the Applications & Gaming tab, but to no avail. Has anyone had similar issues, or perhaps an idea as to why only one port is forwarded when I have followed the same steps that I have been using for years?
I tried to get in touch with Technical Support about this issue, but was told that I needed to purchase a $30 subscription in order to qualify for assistance. I don't think that I should have to pay $30 to know why the same steps work with some ports but not with others.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 Access Forwarded Ports From LAN

May 3, 2013

I have a domain name which I register to my WAN address so I can do service hosting from my home network.  I recently switched out my WRT54G running DDWRT with an EA2700.  I set up my port forwards and static dhcp assignments and they are working from outside my network, but when I try any network operation involving my WAN address from my LAN machines, the connections just timeout.
I read in some posts that "you cannot do this" and "you have to test from a remote internet machine".  Well, this WORKED with DDWRT, so it's not like it's impossible to make a router that does this.  Why can't I do this with the EA2700?  Is there some magic setting that will let this work??
The whole point of using a domain name is that I can access my services ANYWHERE using the convenient "name" thing.. genius, right?  Except when I bring my laptop home and suddenly my domain goes non-responsive.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT610N Ports Showing Closed When Tested

Dec 18, 2012

We have a WRT610N and are having trouble getting access out to the internet with an FTP client. We are trying to configure Sync2 a program from 4team.biz. It is an MS Outlook application that utilizes FTP servers to host .PST files (outlook data bases) for synchronization. The software has an FTP client built in that can access FTP accounts to store and synchronize the .PST file.
The issue is the WRT610N will not allow this client to connect to our FTP account.   We had 4Team’s tech support working on it for a few hours. Ultimately they decided it was my router causing the problem. To demonstrate this to us, they tested ports 80, 21, & 22 utilizing the following websites: url...
All the ports showed either closed or not responding. How do I open these ports so that I can allow Sync2 to communicate with the our FTP account?  We are hosting out FTP site at 1and1.com.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Why Is Loop-back Only Working On Ports Forwarded In Virtual Server Section

Nov 4, 2011

Why is loop-back only working on ports forwarded in the Virtual Server section and not Port Forwarding or even DMZ? I have seen a post about loop-back on the DIR-655 from a while ago that had said to disable SPI and change NAT Endpoint to independent, I have done this and loop-back still doesn't work.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6500 / IGMP Snooping - All Mcast Traffic Forwarded To Mrouter Ports?

Mar 22, 2012

I've been looking into IGMP snooping and have read that a L2 switch will forward multicast traffic to all ports connected to an interested receiver AND all mrouter ports. In a L2 'V' topology this results in all multicast traffic routed onto a VLAN being forwarded to the 2nd distribution switch. My question is how should a 6500 Sup720 deal with this unwanted multicast traffic? Both a Local SPAN of the RP and a Netdr capture suggest that this traffic is punted to the RP and ultimately dropped. Is this expected behavior or should the traffic be dropped in H/W?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Upload Test Error Test With Speednet

May 3, 2011

Question re:  DIR-655; Hardware ver A4; Firmware version 1.32NA

During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally speedtest.net) I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.

When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.

I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)

I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.

Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST

is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?

How To Set Up A Netgear N300 Router For A Closed Home Wireless Network

Apr 8, 2012

We operate a home office network (workgroup) of 6 older PCs running Windows XP SP3.It's a Windows based network using a designated "home" PC as a server, and until recently we were using ethernet cables and a hub/switch for sharing files which worked well because we only share small document files, no music or video. The workgroup does not have a shared internet connection, we don't want or need one for what we do, although the individual PC's can connect to the web using USB dongles just for checking e-mail.Recently the ethernet hub died and I decided to take the opportunity to upgrade to wireless file sharing.None of the PCs have inbuilt wireless adapters so I bought a D-Link USB wireless adapter for each PC.I also bought a Netgear N300 router, thinking that this was suitable entry level equipment for wireless file sharing. Now I'm not so sure.So far I was unable to install the router on the "home" PC because the installation CD seems to assume that the router will be used for sharing an internet connection and does not seem to offer an installation option without a standalone modem. How to install this type of router to create a closed home wireless network without a shared internet connection.

Dell Wireless WLAN Controller Closed And Stopped Working

Jan 9, 2011

I have a Dell Studio 1537 running on Windows Vista? my computer stopped being able to connect to the internet a few days ago and a "Dell Wireless WLAN Controller closed and stopped working" (or something along those lines) box would keep on popping up. I did some reading around on the internet and decided that maybe I needed to update the "drivers" for it so I went to the Dell website and downloaded the most recent version for my Dell Wireless 1510 WLAN mini card...that didn't seem to work any after I installed it. So I went ahead and uninstalled it (I assume I must have uninstalled something I shouldn't have) and now I'm stuck at the same problem. I can't connect to the internet! In Network Connections, it continually says that "Windows cannot find any networks". In Device Manager, under Network Adapters, it doesn't list the card there, although it lists "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet". And from some suggestions I found on the net, I tried ipconfig/all in the comand promt and it says "media disconnected".

Dell :: Inspiron 1520 - 1390 WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller Stopped Working And Closed

I regularly get this message (but not everytime) when I start up Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

"Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller stopped working and was closed.a problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."

Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. Just One VLAN Not Being Forwarded?

Aug 30, 2012

I attached a really ugly picture of how the switches are connected. Basically, we have 4 VLANs in the company. Everything works fine on all VLANs, except the management VLAN (ID 1 - yeah, also the default VLAN ID, I know it's bad and it's going to change some day but...one step at a time). All the switches have their management interface on VLAN1.Here's what works and what doesn't work:If I connect my PC, on VLAN1, to switch number 5 (or any other one on the same row with it) or 4, I can ping 5 (and the entire row), 4 and 3. I cannot however ping 1 and 2If I connect my PC on VLAN1 to switch number 3 I can only ping 1,2 and 3.So basically from what I can gather, switch number 3 (D-Link) is not forwarding VLAN frames containing the tag 1 from and towards the trunk between it and switch number 4 (Cisco). What is strange is that this only happens on VLAN1, everything works perfectly on the others. And it stopped working when we installed the D-Link, we didn't have any problems when instead of the D-Link we had a 48-port netgear switch.

I mean if I check with nmap, I receive a packet with RST flag on, but I'll receive similar packets for closed ports as well.
