Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 - Can USB Be Port Forwarded?

Feb 6, 2012

I have a western digital USB 2tb drive. It works great on my intranet (my laptops and other devices can access it). I have a sticky Ip address and would like to be able to access my drive from my work, but I don't know how to set up or if it can be set up to work. Can the USB be port forwarded? I have the E3200 router, Windows 7 OS (if needed)

Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Login Protect A Forwarded Port On E3000

Nov 18, 2011

I have a linksys E3000 and a WD My Book World Edition 2. (WDMBWE2)What i want is to access my WD from any where. I have tried setting up a simple single port forward to the WDMBWE2, which worked great. I was able to view all my files from anywhere.however, i wasn't prompted for any login.so basically anyone could access and modify all my data.I have obviously deactivated this again.

I have already tried setting up user accounts on my WDMBWE2 to try and solve this, but that only creates the problem of my TV and music player not being able to access it anymore(they both cant type in login information). Is there any way to make the E3000 prompt me a for login/password when requesting that port?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Ports Forwarded Are Not Actually Open

Dec 9, 2012

I have been using Linksys routers for quite some time now, and recently made a big upgrade from the WRT54G to the E3000. I am familiar with the 192.168.1.1 interface and its functionality. However, I recently noticed a problem: when I set a port to forward traffic to any IP address on my network and then check whether or not it is actually open (url...), I am told that the port is still closed. More interestingly still, the first port that I forwarded when I first got the router is listed as open, but the other half dozen or so are still considered closed. I have been trying to set up a file transfer protocol (FTP) server, but can't even get traffic to forward from port 21! I even tried using the pre-configured FTP drop down on the Applications & Gaming tab, but to no avail. Has anyone had similar issues, or perhaps an idea as to why only one port is forwarded when I have followed the same steps that I have been using for years?

I tried to get in touch with Technical Support about this issue, but was told that I needed to purchase a $30 subscription in order to qualify for assistance. I don't think that I should have to pay $30 to know why the same steps work with some ports but not with others.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA2700 Access Forwarded Ports From LAN

May 3, 2013

I have a domain name which I register to my WAN address so I can do service hosting from my home network.  I recently switched out my WRT54G running DDWRT with an EA2700.  I set up my port forwards and static dhcp assignments and they are working from outside my network, but when I try any network operation involving my WAN address from my LAN machines, the connections just timeout.

I read in some posts that "you cannot do this" and "you have to test from a remote internet machine".  Well, this WORKED with DDWRT, so it's not like it's impossible to make a router that does this.  Why can't I do this with the EA2700?  Is there some magic setting that will let this work??

The whole point of using a domain name is that I can access my services ANYWHERE using the convenient "name" thing.. genius, right?  Except when I bring my laptop home and suddenly my domain goes non-responsive.

Routers / Switches :: Port Forwarded But Still Blocked?

Jan 23, 2011

I am trying to create a server in a game called Minecraft. I have forwarded port 25565 (which I put in the server settings for incoming connections and I checked that 10 times so that is ok) on my netgear wnd3700. I've opened the same port on my firewall in windows 7. I've disabled my firewall completely. Everything should be cool, but still, checking with canyouseeme.org and asking friends to join. It is still blocked. It simply doesn't work.. I checked my router for any firewall but couldnt see any.. So yeah I'm 100% I fixed it on the router, unless someone is gonna tell me that there is still an option in the router that might fix it.. but I think I did something wrong in the firewall..Although I have been trying to get this to work all day.. I'd rather get some advice on the firewall or other options in my router. Btw, I am using AVG free edition, and I am pretty sure there is no firewall in that version, but there might be something I have to disable in order for this to work ?

You will need to configure that router to forward port 5900 to this computer before you can connect to VNC Server over the Internet.as you can see here the port is forwarded to the server computers local IP.i have no firewalls active, and no anti-virus software that could be blocking VNC.

Cabling / Cards :: Linksys E3200 Does Not Print Using USB Port

Jan 4, 2012

I have a Linksys E3200 router with a USB port on the device. I have connected an Epson Stylus Photo R380 printer directly to the port. I have an iMac 27 connected to it by wireless. I have a PC workstation connected to it by cable. I have 2 laptops connected by wireless.I downloaded the Cisco Connect for the PC and 2 laptops. The PC works great due to being connected by direct cable. The 2 laptops will not recognize the printer connected to the router. For the laptops, I click on Add Device, Printer in your Home, USB printer (it says connect a printer to the USB port on your router), I wait while it checks for drivers, it finds the printer and when I print a test page, I get nothing but the printing error. I can connect the printer to the laptop and it prints just fine.

I downloaded the Ciscon Connect for Mac. Loaded it and it went through the setting up my router. Congratulations! I am now connected to the Internet. Click on Computers and devices to add the printer. Well, my options are Computer, Wireless printer (where is the USB printer option that is shown for the PC), Other wireless devices or USB storage. Well my first choice would be Wireless printer. Next screen is Connecting a wireless printer showing the network information. Click next and wait. Well, it says a wireless printer is not found. I click Finish to get back to the Computers and Devices to make another selection, as in computer. Select Connect Manually using my wireless settings. Another box saying it is connecting a device and gives the network information. Again I wait! It says device not found.

Disable the E3200 DHCP server2. Change E3200ip address from 192.168.1.1 to something else3. Disable the firewall4.Make wireless settings5. Connect it lan port to lan port with primaryrouter. The problem I am having is that after I finish step 2 the routerreboots with the browser trying to access it at the new ip address. But thebrowser will not connect.I am doing this on a laptop that is disconnected from my network while I am working on the E3200. It is connected byan ethernet cable to an E3200 lan port. I also tried it wireless with the same result. Browser will not connect at any ip address except 192.168.1.1 and then only after I factory reset the beast to regain the 192.168.1.1 ip address

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 Or E4200 - Which One Is Better

Jul 6, 2011

I have a 6 year old wrt54g that is working fine but old. I want to upgrade and will go with the 3200 or 4200.  I really don't need the extra features on the 4200 since everything I have is hardwired (directly to two laptops and to two switches in other parts of the house for tv and printer).  I want wireless for times when we move a laptop but it wouldn't be all the time, and we won't (for now) use the media options. The difference in price between the 3200 and 4200 is less than $25 so costs is NOT a factor in deciding. So should I just purchase the 4200 since price is not a factor or go with 3200; I want the most stable of the two and will never need the extra wireless features in the 4200.

Linksys Wireless Router :: No WAN DHCP Log On E3200?

Jan 11, 2012

I used to have a Belkin router which was losing connectivity throughout the day for a few short moments.  After looking at the logs it appears it was issueing a DHCP release randomy which explained the fault.  Since it was old router I decided to replace it with a E3200.  This worked fine for a few days but then I started to see similar symptions. So currently I am trying to figure out if it's the same issue as before.  I tried looking for a log on the router to see if it was also losing/releasing the WAN IP, but apparently the router doesn't log it.  I spoke to a tech rep on chat, but I don't think they understand what I was talking about (how frustrating).  I even tried to explain it another way that if I hit the 'Release IP address' button and then hit the "Renew IP Adresss' button does this activity get logged.

Where can I find a log to see DHCP activity (on the WAN interface)?  There is a DHCP log which shows all the LAN activity but this is not what I need for this issue.   I find it hard to believe a mature vendor like Linksys doesn't log this activity?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 No Connection To HD

Aug 28, 2012

I have bought Linksys E3200 less than month ago.I have setup it, connected HD (WD My Book 1TB) through USB and it work good, without any problem.Than week ago, I turned off the router, because of my vacation. Yesterday, I came back, turned on the router. WiFi was working good, cable connection too. But there was no connection to HD. I had checked information about HD on admin page, router understood that it is HD, but not provided share access to folder, also, there was no button, to setup it.I disconnected HD, tried to connect it using the Cisco Connect, it provided mistake with USB connection to HD and than with HTTP connection to router. I disconnected HD, tried to connect it manually: connect HD -> go to admin page -> refresh to show HD -> admin page freeze... -> reboot of router manually.

There was a lot of tries to connect HD, but all was failed.I connect HD to computer, it works successfully.I checked connection to router through USB, using my card reader and SD flash card, it works successfully.Information about HW:

Linksys Wireless Router :: USB Print With E3200

Jan 24, 2012

I just picked up the E3200 and love it.  This morning I hooked up my printer via the USB.  Everything went smooth until I tried to print something.  I thought nothing was happening, but I let it sit for a while.  While I was waiting, I was messing around with my network setting in windows.  I realized that my network had been set to 'work' for some reason, so I changed it to 'home'.  As soon as I did, my printer spit out my test page.  (probably 5 min after sending the doc.)  I don't know if it was just coincidence or what, so I sent another page and nothing happened (yet).

Is this common to take that long? Is there a way to speed this up?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 Less Powerful Than WRT54G?

Oct 29, 2011

I just upgraded from a Linksys WRT54G to an E3200.I'm thrilled w/ the bells and whistles (e.g. 5 GHz for video to my Boxee and USB connection to my printer for wireless printing), but it seems that on the 2.4 GHz channel, the strength on the E3200 seems to be lower than it was on the WRT54g.I've placed the E3200 exactly where the WRT54G was, and I notice that on all my mobile devices, I either get no signal or a very week signal in my living room.  W/ the WRT54G, the signal wasn't 100%, but it was definately better than what it is w/ the E3200.

I have the latest firmware and have adjusted the MTU down to 1400 (I'd left it at 1500 on the WRT54G and it always worked fine).  I've also tried to adjust the 2.4 GHz channel to be Wireless-G only network mode and still no luck.  I've tried these individually and in combination.

Is the E3200 just broadcasting a weaker signal at 2.4 the my older WRT54G?  Should I return it and get another router or is there something I can do to boost the 2.4 signal?  Or is there come other configuration I should try to play with?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Stay Disconnected With E3200

Jul 27, 2012

New E3200 router (a few weeks old).

Using the manual settings under Status/Router and clicking the Disconnect button (by Login Status), the page reloads, and say I am disconnected.

Without any input from me, about 30 seconds later the page reloads and say I am connected.

Clicking disconnect, closing the tab and testing my connection proves that I'm not actually being disconnected at all. I cannot force this router to manually disconnect.

Is this a firmware bug or is there another setting else where that prevents me from manually shutting down my connection?

Edit: Firmware 1.0.04 build 1 Apr 10, 2012

(Have turned off guest access for now until I can get password protection for it).

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 Cannot Connect To Internet?

Dec 18, 2011

The problem I have was that last night I unplugged my router and replugged it back in. As soon as that happened, there was no connection between my router and the modem. This morning, I tested to see if it was the modem by connecting an ethernet cable from my desktop to it, and was able to get online. Then, II reset the router and a sucessful connection was made between the two. On my desktop my old network was gone, but the Cisco network was there, leading me to create a new network as if it was a new router. After setting up a new network, I am not able to connect to the internet.
