I've inherited some ACS appliances from another part of my organization. I need to keep most of the settings but want to remove all the AAA clients; and preferably not one-by-one. I don't see a way in the documentation and web searches have proven fruitless.

How can I automatically delete old files? I need to keep only the last seven files.
I have two ACS 5.2 running as primary and secondary instances respectively. When I try to delete a remote log target under System Administration > ... > Configuration > Log Configuration > Remote Log Targets I get the following error message...."The item you trying to delete is referenced by other items. You must remove all references to this item before it can be deleted".
I have searched the configuration within the web gui and was unable to find anything that reference the object that I'm trying to delete.
We have a pair of ACS 4.1 servers (Windows Server 2003 R2). Let's call them ACS1 and ACS2. We don't want either one of them to proxy to any AAA server, including each other. We're using mostly TACACS authentication.
While troubleshooting a general problem, I'm guessing that one of us did this on ACS1:
pressed the Network Configuration button,saw the Proxy Distribution Tableclicked (Default)moved ACS1 from the AAA Servers column to the Forward To column.
So, essentially, we're telling ACS1 to proxy all requests to itself, which doesn't seem to make sense. I don't know for sure whether it should work when configured to "self proxy," but in that state, it does not authenticate anyone and gives merely "Internal error" as the reason.
If I change the configuration so that "ACS2" appears in the Forward To column, and I move "ACS1" back to AAA Servers and restart, ACS1 starts responding correctly to TACACS requests. Of course, ACS1 is just proxying all requests to ACS2, so having two servers isn't doing much good.
I cannot simply remove ACS1 from the Forward To column and leave it empty. The interface complains that it can't forward to zero servers. Of course, on ACS2, there are no servers in the Forward To column, since we never touched the Proxy Distribution Table there.
Is there any way to return the Proxy Distribution Table to its default setup, that is, no servers appear in the "Forward To" column?
We're planning to upgrade to version 4.2 very soon, so this question is mostly academic, unless the same problem exists in 4.2.
For full disclosure, I should mention that the problem we were troubleshooting was loss of connectivity to our Windows Domain Controllers from our ACS servers. We had missed adding some exceptions in our firewalls to allow for four new DCs. As far as we can tell from testing, connectivity to the DCs is now fine. The firewall rules group ACS1 and ACS2 together, so connectivity should be the same, and ACS2 authenticates users correctly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an ACS 5.3 cluster, that is configured to use AD. There are a few wireless devices, and monitoring tools that do not have AD accounts. I would like to configure ACS to first check AD for the user authentication, and if that fails to roll over to the local (Internal Users) identity source where I can define these user accounts.
It seems that when the authentication hits the initial Identity Policy rule, it never moves onto the next one if the first fails.
Attached are screen shots that show how i'm configured for the test, i have a local user defined and I'm trying to log into the firewalls.
- Identity Definition : Screen shot of the main ACS definition for the rule i'm testing that's not working
- Identity Rule 1 : The configuration of rule 1 that if it fails i need it to move onto rule 2.
- Log Output : Screen shot for one of the failed attempts from the ACS View Log server.
Reason I need to configure it this way is:
- Wireless users authenticate to wireless using AD user accounts. Some hand held scanners do not support that and will need to authenticate using the MAC address.
- Authentication to Network devices for managment uses AD accounts. We have some monitoring tools that do not have AD accounts, and will need to be able to log into Network devices to issue some commands (Examples: Cisco Prime LMS and NCS, Infoblox NetMRI).
Is it possible to set up a pppoe client on a VLAN interface, or a switch interface associated to an VLAN?. For example, in a 881 ethernet router, could I configure a pppoe client on any of the lan interfaces in addition to the pppoe client configured on the WAN interface?.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup PEAP authentication for wireless users but I got stuck at place where I have single ssid and users are store in different identity stores like some will be using their active directory and some are locally created users on ACS. I created separate service for wireless authentication and under that I am unable to create rule to differentiate them with identity stores. any idea how to achieve this.
I tried creating identity selection based on role but it does not work as for protocol like radius.peap,ms-chap ACS does not look for another identity store once user not find in an identity stores.
On every floor there are 10 rooms which can have multiple clients (laptops, ipads, smart phones) so let's say 50 clients.how to set up whole thing so the users in every room have decent speed for surfing and watching videos online

I just want to keep one PC as a server and one switch connect to it (For LAN). I want to connect multiple client/screen to that server, so I can use single servers for multiple screen/client.(Client machine will not have any CPU, they will utilize servers memory.)

The Managment and AP-manger interfaces are on vlan 6 [code] I have a 1142N AP also connected to the switch and it pulls a DHCP IP Address and configs etc and registers to the WLC. It too is on Vlan 6 and it is connected to the 4506 on int gig 4/33 which is an access port. [code] I am doing local authentication, so i have added users to the WLC.. My problem is that the first client that connected was able to get an IP address and connect to anything internal and external.I then connected another client on another laptop and that client could connect but not get an IP address, it just self assigned.When i look at the clients i can see the MAC address of both Clients on the WLC, but doing a show mac address-table dynamic i only see the MAC of the client that works properly. The client that doesnt get an IP has no entry in the 4506 switch.I am stumped, from what I understand, is that the 2nd clients traffic is being trunked to the WLC , hence it has the MAC address. But I dont know why its not getting a DHCP assigned IP address.

View 0 Replies View RelatedAll the SOHO routers I have used had a table which shows IP, MAC, Name, etc. In this table, I could easily put a check mark to a check box in a row that I would like to bind/reserve and IP would be reserved for that specific MAC.
In ISA570W, when I need to reserve/bind an IP to a MAC it asks me to fill out a table in which I have to manually type in the name, IP, and MAC.
Is there an easier way?Is there a way to do the reservation for multiple clients at once?If this is the only way, do I need to copy the mac address of each client somewhere and then reserve IPs for each one manually? This method looks very far from user friendly and efficient, unless there is a very logical reason that I cannot think of.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a WPA2/AES network with PEAP MsChapv2 authentication. I have 2 ACS servers for authentication. The problem I have is dropped clients. Both ACS servers are setup identical. The database replcation has been preformed.A series of 10 clients connects wirelessly and they are all successful. ACS server 1 is the primary and ACS server 2 is the backup. We verified that the 10 users authenticated to the primary ACS. My time out to reauth is 30 minutes on the WiSM. 10 minutes into the test we took down the Primary server. This should have had no impact on the clients. 5 minutes later the clients lost thier authentication and were dropped from the network. They were able to reconnect by shutting down thier wireless client and reconnecting. The authentications were seen on the Backup ACS server.on a test of falling back to the primary the same thing happened again to the clients.

So if I do a static ip address it works fine, but if I turn off static, the machine authenticates fine, but is not assigned to the access vlan, and it does not get an ip address.now when I use static I notice in the ISE live authentication logs, 11213 No response received from Network Access Device, for the switch even though its configured correctly.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem where wireless clients at a remote site cannot successfully authenticate through their WLC to my ACS 5.2 (Linux on VM). I have three sites where this authentication is functioning properly; at my fourth site the wireless clients fail with a PEAP error: "12321 PEAP failed SSL/TLS handshake because the client rejected the ACS local-certificate". My wireless clients are Win7 using WPA2-Enterprise security type with AES encryption. The authentication method is set to Microsoft PEAP (EAP-MSCHAP v2) and the 'Validate server certificate' is not checked. My wireless access rules on ACS 5.2 are working well at three sites. My ACS 5.2 has a self-signed certificate that doesn't expire until August 2012. A laptop that can successfully authenticate at other sites cannot authenticate at the fourth site.
Phase one of the PEAP process is where the client authenticates the server certificate and the TLS tunnel is created so that in phase two user authentication credentials are sent through the TLS tunnel using EAP. My clients do not seem to be able to create the TLS tunnel because they reject the ACS local certificate; thus, user credentials are never passed and authentication fails. I have renewed the ACS local certificate and rebooted the ACS server but the problem persists. My WLAN on the WLC has its security policy set to [WPA + WPA2][Auth(802.1X)]. WPA uses TKIP and WPA2 uses AES; Auth Key Mgmt is set to 802.1X. The remote site where authentication fails is a different domain; the other three sites are the same domain.
I can see the failed authentication attempts in my ACS "Monitoring and Reports | Reports | Catalog | AAA Protocol | RADIUS Authentication" report. They all fail with the same PEAP error: 12321 PEAP failed SSL/TLS handshake because the client rejected the ACS local-certificate. The ACS local certificate works fine at three sites--just not at the fourth. Is my problem the certificate or is it an 802.1X client problem?

I'm trying to use 802.1x to authenticate clients on my network with dynamic VLAN assignment from RADIUS. We have IP-Phones(powered by PoE) that only supports EAP-MD5, and we would rather use MAB(it also uses LLDP-MED for some settings) to authenticate the phones using the MAC-range from the phones vendor. The following scenario works perfect:Connect the phone and let it boot up(takes a while) and authenticate with MAB.Connect a computer in the phones data-port and let it authenticate with 802.1x(or fail and reach guest-vlan) However, the following scenario doesn't work:The computer is already connected to the phoneThe phone is then connected to the switch What happends now is that the computer is authenticated using 802.1x before the phone boots up and get's authenticated with MAB. When the phone is ready, it's authenticated with MAB and everything works. However, after a short period(let's say a minute), using `debug authentication all`, we see a "NEW LL MAC: phones mac" message(which is weird since the mac has already been MAB-authenticated), and then we are unable to contact the phone using ping. When I check `show mac address-table` it has now moved the mac from `Port Gi 0/12` to `Port Drop`. However, if I check `show mab interface Gi 0/12` or `show authentication sessions` it lists the phones-mac as `mab auth sucess `.why the first scenario works, and not the second?

The client doesn't have preconfigured wifi profile or root certificate installed.The concept of BYOD suppose that you can connect your device without any installed certificates and preconfigured wifi-profiles.
The problem is that Windows 7 supplicant does not send TLS alert in pop up window, when connecting to 802.1x SSID.If this alert is seen, than you can accept it and proceed the connection. After that you will be asked to install ROOT-cert, get your own cert and etc.So, the question is: how to make the windows supplicant to show the pop-up window with TLS alert?

We have had an active ACS unit for many years now, and we've added a second one, both are 1121 Appliances. The newer one came with 5.4, so we upgraded the older one to 5.4.
We setup replication between the two, with the newer one primary and the older one secondary. Problem is, windows based clients are unable to authenticate to the older ACS appliance. The only problem we can see is that it indicates that adclient is not running, under Monitoring & Troubleshooting, ACS Health Instance Summary.
So... been trying to figure out how to correct this, yet have been hard pressed to find a knowledgebase article that works. So far, Cisco hasn't added my smartNet on the new box so I can get some support?
I want to use multiple cert (enterprise certs and verisign cert) for authentication in wireless.Users that have their computer in the domain should use EAP-TLS and PEAP (verisign) are for users in the domain but on non-domain computers.I can only enable one certificate in system adminstration->local server certificates-> local certificates to use EAP.I have installed both enterprise and verisign cert in the CA store in User and Identy store and enbled the enterprise cert for EAP-TLS.The EAP-TLS connection works fine when the enterprise cert is enabled for EAP (in local certificates) but PEAP does not. If I enable EAP on the verisign cert in local certificates the enterprise cert get EAP disabled and that authentication stops working av PEAP starts working.
Is the ACS5.2 only able to have one certificate enabled at the time for EAP?
I do have a quick question about Cisco ACS 5.3 and multi domain authentication. How is it exactly handled?
Can I join more than one domain with the ACS server? Or do I still need to configure that bidirectional trust relationship between those AD forests (even with the ACS 5.3)?
I have acs 4.2 for windows installed on a windows server 2003 box, because of a merger I need to now authenticate against 2 different domains, there is a bidirectional trust between the two domains and the dial-in permission has been set in ADUC but whenever I try to authenticate a user it says dial-in permissions needed in the acs failed authentication log.
