Cisco :: Etherchannel Between 3750 Stack And WS-CBS3012 For IBM Blade

Aug 6, 2012

We are trying to configure Etherchannel between four ports of cisco 3750 stack(2ports from one switch of stack and two ports from another switch of same stack). We are facing issues with this setup. The ports in WS-CBS3012 are going to err disable mode.

Is  there any limitations associated with such a cross-stack etherchannel configuration. Any particular sequence of configuration involved.

Cisco WAN :: L3 Etherchannel Between 2 Connected 3750S And Stack Of 2 3750?

Jun 5, 2013

i was just asking if it is possible to create a L3 etherchannel between 2 single 3750 switches that act as our core, (running HSRP for the vlan and with a port-channel between the two) and a new switch stack of 3750s that will be routed to and managed by another party. Only i'd like to have the redundancy of 2 links connecting the new stack.If it is possible are there any best practices or preference in using PAgP or LACP or just going for ON.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Etherchannel Does Not Go Up / Up From 3750 Stack To 6k5 Vss

May 19, 2012

We have two 6k5 configured as vss and it is working fine. For each floor we have a 3750 stack. In each 3750 stack we have 4 switches. From the first 3750 we have a fiber link to the first 6k5 and from the fourth switch we have another fiber link to the other 6k5 switch, for each floor/3750 stack, both configured as etherchannel. We installled each 3750 stack/floor in different maintenance windows; in all these installations we have problems configuring the etherchannel. After we configure the etherchannel on 3750 stack and in the vss, the etherchannel does not go up/up. We see the etherchannel up/down; after a lot off work, try and error, configuring shut/ no shut, adding and excluding links from the etherchannel; in any aleatory moment the etherchannel goes up/up and works fine. Is there any bug related with these IOS versions, or is there any right procedure to configure etherchannel from vss to 3750 stack?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - EtherChannel Cross-Stack With EMC VNX

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Cross Stack EtherChannel From 3750 To 2960

Mar 25, 2013

We have a pair of WS-C3750X-24T-S in a stack and four WS-C2960S-48TS-L in a stack of their own. There is not really anything too fancy configured (no special VLAN configuration/trunks or etc.) but the 3750 do have two ports configured as L3 for routing. We are not trying to use those ports for EtherChannel. These devices are running IOS 12.2(55)SE3 Essentially we are attempting to make an EtherChannel group using port 48 on all four of the 2960's in their stack (four ports). On the 3750 we will configure an EtherChannel group using port 23 and 24 on both switches (four ports). We then connect them up to form a four member EtherChannel.The ports on both ends are configured as mode ON and they are all 1Gb ports. I elected mode on because I understand at least one of the EtherChannel protocols will not work cross stack. What I would like to ask is whether the above configuration is possible or are we hitting some sort of limitation of EtherChannel cross stack, etc..? I cannot find anything to suggest this configration is invalid, but thought I would ask to see if I missed something in the EtherChannel articles.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Cross-Stack 10-Gigabit EtherChannel On 3750E / 3750-X

Jan 28, 2012

According to the following Cisco webpage, cross-stack 10-Gigabit EtherChannel is possible on the 3750 with up to two 10-Gigabit modules, using LACP: url...However, the webpage doesn't confirm if this functionality is restricted to a particular 3750 model, such as 3750E, or if it applies to all models. It also doesn't specify any particular IOS feature set. I've tried Cisco Software Advisor but it doesn't list this feature on either the 3750E or 3750-X. This is possible on the 2960-S switches (i.e. cross-stack 10gig EtherChannel)?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Configuring EtherChannel Between 3750-X Cross-stack And 6509E Switch?

configuring EtherChannel between 3750-X cross-stack and 6509E switch. I use two ports on 3750s, and two ports on 6509. I just need it as a trunk. For some elusive reason one port on 3750 keeps being err-disabled, and one on 6509 notconnected.

Here is what I did so far.

GigabitEthernet2/1/29 is down, line protocol is down (notconnect)

I tried shutting them down, then no shutting them again. Didn't work.

Cisco WAN :: Replacing A Stack Master In 3750 Stack?

Jan 22, 2013

We currently have as our stack master a 24 port Non-PoE that we want to replace with a 48 port Non-PoE. The 48 port switch at one time was provisioned as switch 3 in the stack (not the master). Correct me if I am wrong, but theoretically all I should need to do to get this working is to shut off the existing master so it re-elects a master and then provision the 48 port switch as the new switch one and make sure switch 1 has a high priority?

Do I need to write erase the switch that is replacing the current master first?

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 EtherChannel Connected To 3740 Stack

Section Guidelines and Limitations :

"The ASA does not support connecting an  Ether Channel to a switch stack. If the ASA Ether Channel is connected  cross stack, and if the Master switch is powered down, then the  Ether Channel connected to the remaining switch will not come up.

What "If the ASA Ether Channel is connected  cross stack"? or better. Is it possible to use the ASA 8.4 Port-Channel to connect it to the 3750 ether channel stack?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: EtherChannel Cross-Stack Between 3750g And 4507R?

Oct 23, 2012

I am running out of ports on a 4507R and would like to use a 3750G-24TS stack that I already have to expand capacity. Is it possible to configure EtherChannel between the 4507R and the 3750G stack and if so what is the best way to do it? without LACP, with active-active mode LACP or passive-active mode LACP...

This is what I have in mind:On the 4507R side I would like to use interface GigabitEthernet3/5 and interface GigabitEthernet4/5 where modules 3 and 4 on the 4507R are "6 1000BaseX (GBIC) (WS-X4306-GB)". On the 3750G side I would like to use ports 28 on both switches in the stack which are equipped with Cisco GLC-T= 1000BASE-T SFP transceiver module for Category 5 copper wire with RJ-45 connector. [URL] Cross-Stack EtherChannel Without PAgP or LACP should look like this:

3750switchstackA(config)#interface gigabitethernet 1/0/28
3750switchstackA(config-if)#channel-group 1 mode on
3750switchstackA(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
3750switchstackA(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
3750switchstackA(config)#interface gigabitethernet 2/0/28
3750switchstackA(config-if)#channel-group 1 mode on

[code]....

is that what I should be doing? is there any benefit to the active-active mode LACP or passive-active mode LACP and which are applicable to the case above?

The etherchannel was between two trunking ports. I never set link aggregation on the SG200, could that be the reason? All machines are connected to the SG200. The 3750 is only being used as a layer 3 device for inter vlan traffic.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - Losing Connection With Etherchannel

Jun 20, 2012

We have a new building where we added 3 network closets with 3750x stacks.We have 2 fiber gig ports connected to 2 microwave units and etherchanneled the to ports

We have the same setup at the corporate office except the connection is 2 fiber gig ports on a 6509. The 6509 is doing the routing

Now the problem is that we lost the connection to the management interface on only one of the three closets after a few days running. But some workstations at the corp office could reach it... others could not. The workstation were on the same VLAN. We solved the problem for a few days by shutting on of the fiber ports on the etherchannel. But is started happening again... now with PCs being installed at the new location.

The PC that was not working on the 3750x side could ping across to the 6509 but no further then that. It seems like an arp issue not routing because some devices are reachable and fully operational throughout the network.

Here is the configuration:

3750x:Cisco IOS Software, Version 12.2(55)SE1
Current configuration : 118 bytes!interface Port-channel1switchport trunk encapsulation dot1qswitchport mode trunkno snmp trap link-statusend

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Etherchannel - Redundant 6500 To 3750 Datacenter Switch?

I have 2 6504's running HSRP as my core.  They are each etherchannel'd to my Datacenter switch (3750 Stack) -- see image below.The problem i a having is with the etherchannel status:

Core1 PO11 status w (waiting)
Core2 PO11 status P(bundled)

DC11 PO48 status P -- but only to Core2 - the interfaces to Core1 are suspended. (See attached configuration documents)  None of the devices have any information in the logs.  I run this same configuration in my central location, but we are running Nexus 7000's.  With the 6500's, do I need to split the port channels on the 3750 to allow them to negotiate the etherchannel? If I split the portchannels, are there any concerns? Should I expect to see the etherchannel status as P (Bundled) or H (Hot-Standby)?

In this case, we will need to upgrade current other 3 stack switches to a latest version.,Can we do a no-downtime ios upgrade on the existing 3-switch stack?, when this upgrade is done, is there any way to have the new ios pushed down to all three stack members at the same time or do we need to each member upgrade seperately?, for adding the fourth member, is it acceptable if master is ruuning ver eg. 12.2(55) and all rest of the members run ver 12.2(53) ? will this create any issues and will stacking be successful.

Cisco :: 3750 Stack Member Loss Power?

Jun 10, 2012

I have a switch stack with three WS-C3750X-48 switches running 12.2(55)SE. Recently, stack member 3 went offline for a few minutes, after being online for over a year. A show version on member 3 reports that the system returned to ROM by power-on.

Stack member 3 shares a UPS with a router that did not lose power and all three stack members have stack power with four 350 WATT power supplies between the three of them. There are no crashinfo files on any of the switches, log files show the stack ports on the other switches going offline then switch 3 being removed from the stack.

Surveillance recordings show there was no one near the switch during the time and AAA accounting shows no clues. Is it possible the switch crashed without leaving a trace in the logs, a crashinfo file and report that it returned to ROM by power-on?

I've read before that loose stack cables can cause stack member reboots. Would such an event generate log messages other than the stack ports changing states to down?
