I've an ASA 5505 as my gateway for my internet at home. I've one public IP, so I use Port Address translatetion for my internal clients.
Now i wanna setup a FTP server, on a internal client. I will use Filezilla FTP server. I'm running the FTP server in passive mode, since the FTP server would be behind my ASA firewall/nat device.
I need 50 ports for the passive mode to be running.
I will use port range 50000-50050. I can easy make a firewall rule (access-list) that permit that port range.
But how do I PAT(NAT) a port-range on the ASA device? I can only figure out how to NAT one port at the time.
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 (version above) and I have someone that needs to SSH into a box behind the ASA. I'm having a few issues trying to configure this access-list and NAT. I've tried many combinations and clearly my IOS is not as good as I thought. What commands should I enter to accomplish mapping SSH from an outside network range to an internal host ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIm new to the ASA and is trying to setup at test net. The ASA is connected to my router on port zero using DHPC. (Or i guess its not as the router use the same ip range as ASA does inside).
I tried to set a static IP in the same range (eg. 192.168.1.20) but then get the message "cannot overlap with the subnet of interface inside". So I belive that is why it dont get a IP from my router - it does show up in the router DHPC table as 192.168.1.5 but ASDM home says outside "no IP address".
I tried to change the inside range of the ASA but if I change the inside IP i loose connection. (Had to restore factory-default useing the console).
I guess I could setup another range using the console, but how?
I have an ASA 5505 running 8.4(1), and I'm configuring it with ASDM 6.4(1). The outside interface is configured with a single static address. I have a few services port forwarded sucessfully to three different servers on the inside network.
I need to make a media proxy on a SIP server available to the outside. It requires a large range of forwarded UDP ports for the media channels.
I tried adding a network object NAT rule like the others I'm already using to forward HTTP and RDP. I entered a range of ports for the real port and the mapped port using the syntax 60000-60999. ASDM accepted it, but the NAT rule list displays "Any" in the service column. When I apply the change, I get the following error:

How do I forward a large range of UDP ports from the outside interface to a single server on my inside network? I'd like to use ASDM, but I can switch to the CLI if that works better.
trying to configure our ASA 5505 (hence my request for the ASDM). However, I can go CLI if push comes to shove.
What I'm trying to do is allow a range of IP addresses on the inside interface (those which the DHCP server is doling out IPs which are XXX.X.XXX.14-140) to access email only (which is hosted offsite). They still need to access the file servers which are on the inside but nothing should be going out to the internet other than email.
I believe I have to create a Network Object which contains the IP range I wish to restrict. I can see where I add the Network Object but I don't know what the syntax should be to specify the address range.
I'm also not sure what the sequence of the ACLs should be and whether or not I can keep the default Access Rules in place. There are the two implicit rules: 1) Permit any traffic out to less secure networks 2) Deny any traffic to anywhere (which is superceded by rule 1, yes?)
To create an Access Rule like the one I desire, do I need to move the two existing rules down the list so that the new one will supercede both implicit rules?
After getting hacked I want to limit terminal server/ remote desktop to only my computer. (although I may need to let other net in later)

I need to open port range 554 - 558 to a DVR on the internal network. Also, I need to NAT one of my public IP's to the DVR. How is this accomplished in 8.4? I was able to do it in an older version ASA software.

I'm currently trying to port my Exchange server to a cloud host, and the vendor is requiring I open up a wide range of ports for MAPI, basically ports 1024 on. What would be the command to forward all of the trafic cominto/from that broad range? if I could simply route all trafic to and from their two IP addresses to my email server, that would accomplish the same end goal.

Background:I have an FTP Server running behind the firewall and need to allow port ranges 30000-30100 for data connections. I have been using FTP through the command prompt and its working. However, I cannot use it through the FileZilla client as it fails to query the directories. I have the ASA forwarding to port 1125 from 21 in passive mode.

Here is the configuration on a 5505 with 8.3,So I would have thought the outside access-list should reference the 'mapped' port but even with 3398 open I cannot remote desktop to the host. If I open 3389 then I can connect successfully.

and here is my dilemma.
I can SSH from the internet to my ASA on default port 22, directly to my public IP. I can SSH from the internet to my Cisco 1841 on port 2001. I can not however, SSH to my Cat 2960. From what i can tell, on the Cat2960 i can't change the default port 22 for SSH to different port, just like i did on the Cisco 1841. I looked to see if I can change the default port for SSH on he ASA, it does not look like this is an option.
The bottom line is that i want to be able to SSH to all three devices from the internet. I only have one public IP. As of now, what i can do is only SSH to the ASA on default port 22 directly to the public IP and Cisco 1841 on port 2001. It appears that changing the default SSH port on Cat 2960 is not an option. It also appears that I can't change the default SSH port on the ASA, if i could, i would and then i should be able to SSH to the Cat 2960 on port 22. No matter what i did on the ASA, it always listens on port 22 for SSH connections.

With the Cisco ASA-5505, is there a more secure port that can be configured for VNC other than 5901? I am new to Firewalls We have a User who has requested that 5901 be opened but I was advised not to do so for security concerns.

I'm new to an ASA 5510 running 8.4(3) and am trying to figure out something regarding time ranges in ASDM. I simply want to allow a single port during business hours only (I'm not concerned about open sessions needing to be closed). So as an example I add a rule something like:
(RULE1 on the internal interface) SRC=INTERNAL DEST=ANY SERVICE=RDP ACTION=PERMIT with a time range set for weekdays 8:00-16:59. I did a test after 5pm on a weekday and was still allowed to do RDP to a server (from INTERNAL), and after using the packet trace tool saw it was still passing through due to a rule a couple lines down (rule 4) that allowed a port range that happened to include port 3389. So my question is if I specify an "allowed" time range and someone attempts access outside that time range, why doesn't it drop it right there? I guess I'm assuming that anything outside the "allowed" time range would be dropped but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm also assuming the rule base is processed top to bottom.
Do I create an SMTP Network Object and send TCP traffic throught NAT?
Or do I go to the ASDM's Configuration/Firewall, choose Public Servers, and choose Private Interface=inside, Public Interface=outside, set the private/public IPs, and choose SMTP as the service? This seems much simpler, but is it the correct way to do it?
I am using ASDM 6.4(5) and would like to use that versus the CLI.
I'am using ASA 5510 and I try to understand how PAT is working.I want to add a Mail Server in the LAN and a webmail using port 3000 on the server. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with my firewall,each time i configured a trunk port in the firewall and connect a sw 2960S with a trunk port also, all the interfaces in the Firewall go down ( virutal intertaces, inside, outside , dmz) , also another switch 3750 that is connected to another port in the firewall( access port only) it start to a new negotiation of spanning tree.What could be causing this problem? the firewall didnt sedn bdpdu i think the IOS of the firewall its a 8.2

View 4 Replies View Relatedhave a couple of ASA 5505's which work fine for what they are doing VPN and all that - we have 1 DLINK DFR-700 Firewall left and I need to get a new ASA to replace this since it is old.All this box really does is port forward external clients to 1 address on the internal lan for client software updates.So lets say we have client a with IP 1.1.1.1 and client b has 2.2.2.2 - at the moment this is what happens client a and b come in through http and get mapped to the internal http server 10.10.1.2So I need to setup about 100 clients which can come in through http only - get mapped to the internal IP and also keeping the internal server to be able to access anything outside.

View 11 Replies View Relatedmy friend was against a wall trying to update her office's system, and it seems like every Cisco person in the region has gone on vacation.For some sort of new system her office is getting, she was told that she needed to enable NAT with external IP xxx.xxx.xxx.14 (The ASA's IP is xxx.xxx.xxx.11) and internal IP xxx.xxx.xxx.58 and that port 8222 needs to be open. I know this is sort of vague, but it's what she was given, and I know the 8222 port is very specific in function,?
At any rate, the best I could come up with was to run:

I have an ASA 5505 running 8.4.I am only letting ICMP traffic in from the outside.As a test, I opened a couple of ports I need on the ASA.I cannot access these ports and I do not get a denied error in the log.
I contacted the ISP and they are not blocking these ports.I ran an online port scanner to check ports 1-100 as a test. They all came up as blocked on the port scanner. The only deny error I got on the ASA was for port 80.Is this normal behavior? If so, how do I get it to show all of the deny errors so I know the traffic is at least hitting the firewall?
I have the following configuration in my ASA 5505 and I'm having problems connecting with other players on my XBox (moderate NAT).
I think my problem is that I need to forward ports tcp:3074, udp:3074, and udp:88 to my xbox which is at 192.168.2.50 (vlan 3 below).

I have a Cisco ASA configured for Any Connect clients. I also want to pass 443 traffic back to an internal web server, but not sure if I can do this since the Any Connect clients are already connecting over 443 to the ASA, right?
View 8 Replies View RelatedWe have a Cisco ASA 5505. As of yesterday we could no longer access our web server (the web server is hosted off-site). Pinging the DNS address and direct IP (from the firewall and a PC) both return no response. Pinging the IP from the T1 router responds properly, meaning the router can access the web server, but the firewall cannot. Accessing the web server has never been a problem, and no configuration changes have been made to the network/firewall. Other locations can access the web server just fine.
