Cisco Firewall :: NAT / Opening A Port On ASA 5505?

Apr 5, 2012

my friend was against a wall trying to update her office's system, and it seems like every Cisco person in the region has gone on vacation. For some sort of new system her office is getting, she was told that she needed to enable NAT with external IP xxx.xxx.xxx.14 (The ASA's IP is xxx.xxx.xxx.11) and internal IP xxx.xxx.xxx.58 and that port 8222 needs to be open.  I know this is sort of vague, but it's what she was given, and I know the 8222 port is very specific in function,?

At any rate, the best I could come up with was to run:

static (inside,outside) xxx.xxx.xxx.58 xxx.xxx.xxx.14 netmask 255.255.255.255
access-list inbound extended permit tcp any host xxx.xxx.xxx.11 eq www
access-list inbound extended permit tcp any host xxx.xxx.xxx.11 eq https
access-list inbound extended permit tcp any host xxx.xxx.xxx.11 eq 8222
access-list inbound extended permit udp any host xxx.xxx.xxx.11 eq 8222
access-group inbound in interface outside

But after I inserted this, she did what she was supposed to be able to do (went home and tried to run some sort of remote installation file) and it didn't work...

And have a Cisco ASA 5505 Router.  I need these ports open in order for a software that I have installed on the server to communicate with my local client computers for my business,  The software is installed on Windows 2008 Server Standard Edition and was installed with MicrosoftSQL 2005.  The software and Microsft SQL 2005 is pretty much installed and just requires this last step in order for the server to be connected to the local  computers.  In order to resolve this, I have gone to.

Cisco Firewall :: 5505 - Opening Ports On DHCP Outside ASA Interface

Feb 25, 2011

I am used to setting up access-lists on outside interfaces with ip addresses that are static. I have recently been given a site that is using a dyndns.org client for name to ip address resolution on an outside interface that is dhcp assigned. I created an access-list to open up ports 41794 and 41795 to an engineering application but everytime I try to connect from the outside I get a syn timeout. The application works when inside the lan. Basically I want to allow outside connections from anywhere on the outside to go to ports 41794 and 41795. I am running a Cisco ASA 5505 on version 7.2(4) Below is my conifg. what I may have misconfigured?

Cisco Firewall :: Opening Port Range ASA5505

Mar 26, 2013

I just bought a Cisco ASA5505. I'm trying to opening a port range through CLI, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Background:I have an FTP Server running behind the firewall and need to allow port ranges 30000-30100 for data connections.  I have been using FTP through the command prompt and its working. However, I cannot use it through the FileZilla client as it fails to query the directories.  I have the ASA forwarding to port 1125 from 21 in passive mode.

Cisco Firewall :: Change Default SSH Port On ASA 5505 (port Forwarding)

Dec 2, 2011

So here is my network.

ASA5505--->Cisco1841--->Cat2960
Code
ASA asa831-k8.bin
Cisco 1841 c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.151-4.M2.bin
Cat 2960 c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin

and here is my dilemma.

I can SSH from the internet to my ASA on default port 22, directly to my public IP.  I can SSH from the internet to my Cisco 1841 on port 2001. I can not however, SSH to my Cat 2960.  From what i can tell, on the Cat2960 i can't change the default port 22 for SSH to different port, just like i did on the Cisco 1841.  I looked to see if I can change the default port for SSH on he ASA, it does not look like this is an option.

The bottom line is that i want to be able to SSH to all three devices from the internet.  I only have one public IP.  As of now, what i can do is only SSH to the ASA on default port 22 directly to the public IP and Cisco 1841 on port 2001.  It appears that changing the default SSH port on Cat 2960 is not an option.  It also appears that I can't change the default SSH port on the ASA, if i could, i would and then i should be able to SSH to the Cat 2960 on port 22. No matter what i did on the ASA, it always listens on port 22 for SSH connections.

show asp table socket
TCP       001f549f  <<pub IP>>:22              0.0.0.0:*               LISTEN

how do i make it listen on different port?

Opening A Port On Router

Mar 3, 2011

I want to open a certain port on my router and I know it shouldnt be a problem, just go inside of your router settings and add the port manually. But somehow I was enough smart to forget my routers username and password, now my question is my only option a hard reset of the router and deleting all the work I put in to connecting the two computers with my router (believe me I had my share of troubles connecting them with the router) or is there a way to open the port on the router from my computer without accessing my router settings.

Cisco Infrastructure :: 1941 Opening Port Range For IP

Jul 1, 2011

I have a LAN with Cisco 1941 as the only router with NAT that connects it to the internet, with a single public IP. There are many gamer users, and they complain that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 sees our network as "strict NAT", while for full gaming experience it needs "open NAT". After a small research I have found out that CoD needs certain port ranges to be forwarded to LAN IPs. Well, I know how to forward a range of ports to a single IP, but how is it possible to forward a port range for all the IPs in the LAN?

Web Interfaces Not Opening Even After Port Forwarding Is Said To Be Working?

Jun 23, 2011

I have a DSL modem (custom made and branded by my ISP) which is receiving a DSL stream... it has an external IP which is visible to the world, say, 11.22.33.44 ... This modem has DHCP enabled, has an internal IP for itself, which is 192.168.1.1 .. it is connected to 2 laptops via and ethernet cable .. Laptop 1 has IP 192.168.1.2, and Laptop 2 has IP 192.168.1.3 ...On Laptop 1, two applications are running, jDownloader and Media Player Classic, which have their web interfaces on ports 8765 and 13579,respectively.. I can access both of these web interfaces from Laptop 2 by opening these addresses: 192.1681.2:8765 and 192.168.1.2:13579 ... both of their web interfaces open up, meaning the web interfaces are working fine ..Moving on, I now want to access these web interfaces from outside my network as well, and so I've configured port forwarding in my DSL modem to forward all traffic on ports between 8000 and 14000 (both TCP and UDP) to IP 192.168.1.2 ... I have verified that port forwarding is working by testing it using PortForward.com's port checker tool, and this website too: Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router When I use the website, if I'm running the applications on Laptop 2, the website reports that the port is open .. if I then close the application, the website reports the port is closed ... This makes sense as nothing is listening on my machine in the latter case .. Also, if I disable port forwarding in my modem, again, the website reports the port is closed ... so, the website's results seem to be okay ...

Despite the above tools reporting that port forwarding is working, I am unable to open the web interfaces from outside my network ... So for example, if I tried to browse 11.22.33.44:8765 or 11.22.33.44:13579, nothing opens in my browser ... But if I accessed these web server's locally from Laptop 3, by typing in 192.168.1.2:8765 or 192.168.1.2:13579, they opened ... The tools report unanimously that port forwarding is working, and yet I am unable to open the web interfaces from outside the network ..Also note that I have disabled the firewall from my computer, and have also made sure that any option in the above programs (whose web interfaces I am trying to open) that says only local connections are to be accepted, is disabled ...

Protocols / Routing :: Opening Port 80 For WAN Access To Localhost?

Dec 22, 2012

So I am working on a website with MySQL/PHP that I have been developing on my Linux box. I wanted to show a friend my progress so I temporarily opened up port 80. So he was able to just type in my public IP and it brought him to my localhost index.

My question is, when I type in my IP address in the URL bar, does the web browser automatically just assume port 80? What happens if I want to have 2 different servers from the same local network and one is running through port 80 and the other is running through port 90? In this case, would I have to type ":90" to access the machine running on port 90?

Cisco Firewall :: Port Forwarding In 5505

have a couple of ASA 5505's which work fine for what they are doing VPN and all that - we have 1 DLINK DFR-700 Firewall left and I need to get a new ASA to replace this since it is old.All this box really does is port forward external clients to 1 address on the internal lan for client software updates. So lets say we have client a with IP 1.1.1.1 and client b has 2.2.2.2 - at the moment this is what happens client a and b come in through http and get mapped to the internal http server 10.10.1.2So I need to setup about 100 clients which can come in through http only - get mapped to the internal IP and also keeping the internal server to be able to access anything outside.

I have an ASA 5505 running 8.4.I am only letting ICMP traffic in from the outside. As a test, I opened a couple of ports I need on the ASA.I cannot access these ports and I do not get a denied error in the log.

I contacted the ISP and they are not blocking these ports.I ran an online port scanner to check ports 1-100 as a test.  They all came up as blocked on the port scanner.  The only deny error I got on the ASA was for port 80.Is this normal behavior?  If so, how do I get it to show all of the deny errors so I know the traffic is at least hitting the firewall?

Cisco Firewall :: Setting Up Port Forwarding ASA 5505

Mar 15, 2012

We are trying to setup our ASA 5505 to do port forwarding to multiple internal servers and have run into some issues. A little background on what we are trying to do.

We have 1 static external IP. Internally we have one exsisting server (10.1.1.184) that has port 80 forwarded to it and another exsisting server (10.1.1.185) that has port 443 forwarded to it. Both of these servers are serving seperate web apps to our employees who of course use them offsite. We have now added an additional server (10.1.1.186) that needs to use both ports 80 and 443. Is there any way to set it up so that these ports can be forwarded to all the servers that need them? Also, how would this work as far knowing what traffic will need to go to which server even though it is using the same port?

The equipment is: ASA 5505ASA Version 7.2(4)ASDM Version 5.2(4)   I appologize in advance if what I'm trying to do is difficult/impossible. I inherted the ASA 5505 at this location and I was not here when it was initially installed. In fact no one on staff was here when it was initially installed. I did manage to find the passwords to it though. I'm not at all familiar with the ASA 5505 or Cisco secuirty appliances in general.

Cisco Firewall :: How To Set Up NAT For Two Servers Using Same Port With ASDM ASA 5505

Apr 10, 2012

We have a new installation of a ASA 5505 and are trying to get some NAT issues straightened out. On our internal network, we have two servers running Filemaker Server, a relational database server that clients connect with using port 5003. Our goal is to be able to allow users from the outside to access either of these servers as needed. I know how to set up a simple static NAT rule and matching Access rule in ASDM which would be fine for a case in which only one server using a given port is running on a network, but for simple static rules I seem to be blocked from entering a different translated port number from the orginal port number, which becomes a problem when two servers we need to access from the outside are running software using the same port number.

What is the simplest way to address this need? I am guessing that I need to set up a scenario like this, where port 5004 (or any arbitrarily choosen unused port, can be used to access the second server: [code]
