Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 / Nat With Port Translation With 8.4(3)?

Trying to translate telnet for switches to the outside ip address at some random ports.

172.16.200.3:23 ->  10.199.199.2:2301
172.16.200.4:23 ->  10.199.199.2:2302
etc....

ASA 5510 running 8.4(3):

interface Ethernet0/0
nameif outside
security-level 0
ip address 10.199.199.2 255.255.255.248
 interface Ethernet0/1.200
vlan 200
nameif inside
security-level 100
ip address 172.16.200.254 255.255.255.0

[code]....

I can not access the switch at 10.199.199.2:2301 .  What am I doing wrong?  Or should cleaning toilets be something I really should look at!  Now if i run this NAT statment:

object network Switch_TN
nat (inside, outside) static 10.199.199.3 service tcp telnet 2301

I am able to access the switch at 10.199.199.3:2301

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 - Inbound NAT On ASA 8.4?

Aug 6, 2012

I am trying to setup an inbound NAT on an ASA5510 running 8.4 code.

object network obj-192.168.1.2
host 192.168.1.2  (internal web server)
 object network NAT-external IP
host ** external IP **
object network NAT-external IP
nat (outside, inside) static 192.168.1.2 service tcp https https
access-list outside_access_in extended permit tcp any host 10.2.0.10 eq https

This seems to be setup now?

sh nat
2 (outside) to (inside) source static NAT-*.*.*.*  192.168.1.2   service tcp https https
translate_hits = 0, untranslate_hits = 0
 sh access-l
access-list outside_access_in line 2 extended permit tcp any host 192.168.1.2 eq https (hitcnt=27) 0x59383a04

When I try to connect to the external IP using https I get hits on the access list, however the nat translate hits do not go up?Do I need to allow the 192.168.1.2 server back out again?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 - NAT Regular Translation Creation

Dec 4, 2012

I am having an issue with a specific server that is not reachable from other sub nets. Every other device on the same sub net as the server is reachable via the other sub nets. This server is special because it's NAT'd to an external IP address and has several site-to-site VPN's set up. The firewall is a Cisco ASA 5510.

This is the error I see on the ASA syslog when I try to ping the server from another sub net: 3 Dec 05 2012 10:58:49  10.0.15.101 regular translation creation failed for icmp src inside:10.0.20.8 dst inside:10.0.15.101 (type 0, code 0)

The problem server is on sub net 10.0.20.0/24 and the server IP address is 10.0.20.8. Every device on the 10.0.20.0/24 sub net can hit the server, but devices on other sub nets cannot. For instance, a device on 10.0.15.0/24 cannot reach 10.0.20.8, but can reach other devices on 10.0.20.0/24.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 Address Translation Through Internal Network

Jan 19, 2013

Is it possible to perform static Nat's through an internal network?I have a ASA 5510 with a public outside interface (let’s call it 68.68.68.1), and I have an inside private IP address (192.168.1.2/24). The inside IP address leads to a 4900m with that interface being configured with a 192.168.1.1 (no switching). On the 4900 M I have several VLANs one of them is an internal DMZ of sorts. (192.168.2.0/24). Within this DMZ network are several Web servers which need to be associated a public IP address (68.68.68.x).

Every time I configure a static Nat to associating a public IP address with an internal IP address within the DMZ, packet Tracer on the ASA informs me that the packet gets dropped at the static Nat and I cannot figure out why this is so.Safe it to say my question still stands is it possible to Nat (68.68.68.222 to and 92.168.2.60) given the configuration above, and how would I go about configuring in such the manner above so that I acn apply static nat through the 192.168.1.0 network to reach the 192.168.2.0 network.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 No Translation Group Found Error

I have a 5510 with just a inside and outside interface, everything works on the lan inc internet access and exchange hosting to the net, but I have another exchange server on the wan and I can't get to that because I'm not natting inbound traffic and the default route sends traffic elsewhere.

If I put a nat any statement on the inside interface inbound it works, however all LAN internet traffic fails with a  No translation group found error.I've removed the static nat commands as they are all named anyway, but below is what I have before I do a nat any inside inbound command global (outside) 1 interfaceglobal (inside) 2 interfacenat (inside) 0 access-list inside_nat0_outboundnat (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.

I know I can use the RTR statement to determine when the primary ISP circuit goes down via this technote: url...My question can I assign static Nats on the backup ISP connection to the same inside servers in the dmz.?Example 10.1.1.11 is mapped to ISP1 ExternaIP of 65.217.77.11. Can it 10.1.1.11 also be mapped to ISP2's 208.217.77.11?This way I can get my DNS changed and my inbound traffic to servers in my DMZ on the asa 5510 running 8.0.3 code can continue to receive Inbound traffic.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: ASA 5510 Securing Inbound Traffic On VPN Using ACL

Nov 1, 2012

I have a VPN on my ASA 5510 between (A)192.168.255.0/24 and (B)172.20.2.0./24. The purpose of the tunnel is to send kerberos tickets from our domian controller on the A side, across to a server at B, and receive a respose. I want to lock down inbound traffic to the A network, but not sure of best method.

I initially tried using an ACL filtering on ports, but soon realised the incoming traffic uses a wide range of ports so this is not really possible.Seeing as the A side will always be initiating the conversation, I was wondering if I could use the 'established' option on the inbound ACL for the ASA at A side, so that it would block any flows that are not initiated by the A side.

I need another set of eyes.  it was initiating the tunnel last week but not completing the connection.  Now its not doing anything.  i am going backwards.  Below is my remote ASA config.

ASA5510(config)#  sh run

ASA Version 8.2(2)
host name ASA5510

password 2KFQnbNIdI.2KYOU encrypted

I have  a laptop directly attached to the inside interface.  The PC and ASA can ping each other. The test interface is the one I am trying to use. Does my default route need to point to 192.168.0.1?  Or is the remote peer correct?  I thought the remote peer was correct? The 4G modem is like a pass-thru device. If I connect my laptop to it I can get out to the internet.

Cisco WAN :: 5510 Dynamic Bandwidth With Shaping

Mar 29, 2011

We have an ISP connection that is connected via an ethernet interface on a 5510 ASA. We are allotted 10Mbps. I have currently have the interface set to 10Mbps Full. However we want to upgrade the connection to 25Mbps. I know I can set the port speed to 100Mbps and then set a shape/police statement and shape down to 25Mbps.

Management wants to be able to call the ISP and arbitrarily adjust that speed up temporarily at any time without any user/admin intervention on our side. I can simply leave the port at 100Mbps i.e. no shape statement on my side however I will run into problems with large amounts drops, overruns, retransmissions, etc due to the ISP shaping the connection speed during normal operations. However they then could then adjust the speed at any time without needing me.

I do not know the best way to make this work. Is there some sort of dynamic/smart shaper in the ASA or another cisco device?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA Twice NAT (port Translation) - 8.4 In Depth?

Mar 1, 2012

I have some issues with Twin  PAT on ASA (8.4.2), there is sth I dont udnerstand FTP server is on the inside and client is in outside.

I did sth like this

object network NATED-11
host 20.20.20.11
object network REAL-2
host 10.200.200.2
object service SRV-FTP
service tcp destination eq ftp

nat (outside, inside) source static any any destination static NATED-11 REAL-2 service SRV-FTP SRV-FTP so teoretically there should be a problem in NAT cause there is a second channel for data etc. BUT according to docs "For applications that require application inspection for secondary channels (for example, FTP and VoIP),the ASA automatically translates the secondary ports."

The problem is that it doesn't work at all and got the syslogs

Debug on ASA shows

ASA5510(config)# nat: untranslation - outside:20.20.20.11/21 to inside:10.200.200.2/21
nat: untranslation - outside:20.20.20.11/21 to inside:10.200.200.2/21
nat: untranslation - outside:20.20.20.11/21 to inside:10.200.200.2/21
nat: translation - outside:20.20.20.252/37924 failed - port is not found in xlate(0-0)

[code]....

To make it work I need to modify the nat rule to sth like this (translate source of client to inside inteface of ASA) nat (outside, inside) 1 source static any interface destination static NATED-11 REAL-2 service SRV-FTP SRV-FTP / why its not working in the first place? aaa I forgot to mention that both modes of FTP were tested (passive and active)

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 8.4 With NAT Source Address Translation?

Dec 5, 2012

I have a server in a DMZ of my 8.4 ASA with nat:

object network FTP-SERVER
host 192.168.1.102
nat (dmz, outside) static interface tcp ftp ftp

And that's working well. However, I now need to translate the source address of connections from the outside to the FTP server as well. The aim is that the source address of packets when they reach the FTP server is an address on the DMZ subnet (as the default route for the FTP server now needs to be something else, not the ASA) as well as this outside-dmz NAT. I thought overloading the DMZ interface of the ASA? Or another IP in that range?

Cisco :: Dynamic Routing Over Internet Using ASA 5505 / 5510?

Apr 16, 2011

There are three different sites, two are composed of Multilayer switches cisco 3560 and 3570 as core switches (a 3560 in one site and a 3570 in another site), the last site doesn't have any routers just a 2950 switch. Each site has two asa 5505 as firewalls. Two Internet connexions are connected to every site, one on every firewall. One Internet line is used to connect the different sites together using VPN crypted with IPsec and the other line is just for Internet access. The line that is used to interconnect sites contains voice and data traffic. At the moment all the routes are static routes, the network isn't too big for now and counts not more than 20 subnets. But it is evolving, and I want to use dynamic routing, EIGRP to be more accurate. I've looked into it and I'm not sure how to make it work. The VPNs active on the ASAs don't support dynamic routing, so I thought about GRE tunnels but the ASAs don't seem to allow it either.

I would then add the access-list to allow. How would I set this up with the Asa 8.6 commands?

Cisco WAN :: ASA 5510 / Backup Isp Requires Changed Dynamic Rule?

Dec 14, 2011

I have one ASA 5510, a primary ISP (cable, the single public IP lives on the ASA), and a backup ISP (ADSL, separate router that hosts its single public IP). I use IP tracking to detect link down on the primary. When I pull the plug on the cable modem and go to "Route monitoring", I can see the ASA's default route is now the backup ISP default route. That conforms with [URL]  Pings to 8.8.8.8 fail however, and when I do a packet trace the ASA complains about the dynamic nat rule that still points to the primary ISP's interface.Only when I change the existing dynamic NAT rule (on my inside interface) to use the backup ISP's pool (which is a single 192.168.x.y address) , does 8.8.8.8 reply to my pings. So it kinda works but it's not full auto . I can't add a second dynamic nat rule on the same inside interface, nor can I select 2 IP pools in a single dynamic nat rule.

Cisco Firewall :: Dual ISP And Inbound NAT ASA5505 8.2

Oct 30, 2012

I have setup an ASA5505 running 8.2 with dual ISP's

Primary link is the current live static route out and the backup picks up if the primary fails. That all works great However I have an issue with inbound NAT rules

I have configured an inbound static on the primary which works great

static (inside,primary) *.*.*.* 10.1.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 access-list outside_access_in line 2 extended permit tcp any host *.*.*.* eq 3389 (hitcnt=4)

Question? With the primary link active and the default route pointing out through the primary, am I able to configure an inbound NAT to the same inside host 10.1.1.1
on the backup link?

If the primary fails users will need to be able to connect inbound to this service

When I try to set it up I got this error ERROR: Static PAT using the interface requires the use of the 'interface' keyword instead of the interface IP address

So I tried that and got this error WARNING: All traffic destined to the IP address of the backup interface is being redirected. WARNING: Users will not be able to access any service enabled on the backup interface.

So what is the best practice for configuring inbound NAT for a dual ISP configured ASA
