Cisco Firewall :: Does ASA 8.4 Automatically NAT Outgoing Traffic To Outside Interface By Default

Apr 25, 2012

For ASA v8.3 and above we don't need to use nat-controll, traffic from high security interface can go to low security interface without matching NAT statements. So does the ASA automatically NAT s the outgoing traffic to the outside interface by default?

For example

ASA inside int---10.1.1.1
outside int---120.11.1.1

when the inside hosts try to go out they will be NATed to 120.11.1.1 by default on version 8.3 and later.is that right?

Cisco Firewall :: PIX 501 / Can Traffic Goes From Inside Interface To Outside Interface

My question is can my traffic goes from inside interface to outside interface? Cisco LAN :: 2651XM / Traffic-export Only Shows Outgoing?

cisco 2651XM router with WIC1 adsl card and NM-16ESW switch
IOS:  c2600-ipbasek9-mz.124-23.bin

I use the following config to export traffic from the adsl card to a fasterthernet port so I can look at the adsl traffic in wireshark on a pc:router(config)#ip traffic-export profile my_rite router(conf-rite)#int FastEthernet 0/0 router(conf-rite)#bidirectional router(conf-rite)#mac-address abcd.efgh.ijkl (mac address of PC) router(conf-rite)#exit router(config)#int dialer0 router(config-if)#ip traffic-export apply my_rite this config works and I can see stuff going on in wireshark but it's only one way. This config only shows traffic going out from my adsl card, but no incoming. There is defintely traffic going both ways because everything about my adsl connection is working perfectly. I've tried using a different fastethernet port, even tried exporting to a different pc but all I see is outgoing ie: source is my public ip address but never as destination . I have bidirectional in the config but it still only shows outgoing. I even tried a different IOS (c2600-adventerprisek9-mz.124-15.T8.bin) but still it doesn't show incoming traffic. Could it be my ISP in some way hiding incoming traffic from view?

Cisco Routers :: WRVS4400N - VPN Tunnel Up But No Outgoing Traffic?

Jan 29, 2012

we've buyed a WRVS4400N to create a IPSEC VPN tunnel to our client in order to access some applications.

After a while trying to configure the router, we have archieved it and the VPN tunnel is up. We can see the tunnel up from here and from client's side as well.

Our client supposendly have created the tunnel in order to access a list of specific IPs in the range 10.113.x.x, but if we try to access this IPs via telnet whe cannot obtain any response.

Making a tracert, we obtain...
C:UsersHuexxx>tracert 10.113.56.177
Traza a 10.113.56.177 sobre caminos de 30 saltos como máximo.
1     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  192.168.0.1
2     *        *        *     Tiempo de espera agotado para esta solicitud.
3     *        *     ^C

... and therefor the client doesn't receive any packet at its firewall.

I've tried to establish a static route for 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 to their remote gateway, but I'm unable to add any entry to static routing list... The router tries to do something, but afterall I cannot see the new entry...

What can I do to route the traffic through the tunnel?

Port Forwarding Working For Incoming Traffic But Not Outgoing?

Feb 6, 2012

I have a licensing server. Other computers need to turn on a program, they send a message to the licensing server, and it responds that they have permission to run.Until today the licensing server was plugged into its own ethernet wall socket and configured with a static IP address. Today I put a router into that wall socket and now the server's plugged into the router. The router (WRT-54G) was set to the static IP - and now the internet on its network works. I set all ports to be forwarded to the server's internal IP address - and now my programs can detect and ping it. But now the server won't send back permissions to use licensed software, or even reply with a list of the software which it can license.

WRV54G - Server Cannot Send Outgoing Traffic Through Network

Dec 30, 2011

I cannot get my server to send outgoing traffic through my network. I.e. If i try to connect to any of my services i get a very weak connection. Now, i can still CONNECT, i just don't get any data flow. I cant even PING the server internally, it just times out. Now, regardless of whether i use my internal IP/external domain, i get the same issue. I logged onto my computer and tried a speed test the download was normal (around ~20mbit) but the upload times out.

Here is the fun part, if i connect to the server using a switch, everything works fine! Is it my router or some stupid configuration issue? Router is a WRV54G (I hate this thing). Server is running windows 2008 and has a virtual machine.

Cisco Firewall :: NASA5510 Working Traffic Inside Of Same Interface

Oct 13, 2012

I need to configure a Cisco ASA5510.Connencted the a single interface I have a switch. To this switch (same VLAN) there are connected:

1. The Subnet of the main office (192.168.1.253)

2. A router  (IP 192.168.1.254) that routes the traffic to a remote location (Subnet 192.168.8.0/24)

I have so allowed any traffic incoming to the inside interface as follows:access-list inside_access_in extended permit ip any any and I have permitted traffic intra interface as follows: same-security-traffic permit intra-interface. [code]Unfortunately I cannot RDP into that server. When I simulate the connection via Packet tracer, it tells me that the implicit deny on the bottom of the connections from "inside" (firewall) does not allow the connection. It sounds to me like that "same-security-traffic permit intra-interface" does work only if there are 2 interfaces and not a single one.Unfortunately I cannot just unplug the cable and connect it into another port as the ip is on the same subnet and I cannot configure the other end router.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 Dropping UDP / 53 Traffic On Inside Interface?

Jul 21, 2012

We have a Cisco ASA 5505 (v7.2(3)) with a "fairly" normal configuration yet we have a problem where it appears UDP/53 traffic is denied on our inside network.

here is output from our sys log:

SyslogID   Source IP      Dest IP    Description
305006      172.18.22.3                   portmap translation creation failed for udp src inside:172.18.22.156/42013 dst inside:172.18.22.3/53

To give some clarification:

172.18.22.3      is one of our DNS servers
172.18.22.156  is a device we're experimenting with.

We've bypassed the Cisco by using a 4G wireless router with this same device - and it works flawlessly. Here is a [scrubbed] copy of our config. It is what I inherited from the previous admin - I'm not sure of all its finer points (I'm not Cisco certified -- perhaps I'm just certifiable.)

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5520 Not Passing Full Interface Rate Traffic

Apr 12, 2012

I have an issue where our ASA 5520 is impacting upload (from LAN to internet) speed. We have a 100Mbps SDSL internet link and only see around 45-50 Mbps on the upload when going via the firewall, download is around 90+ Mbps so that is acceptable. I have tested a laptop connected directly to the internet router and that give near on the 100Mbps up and down speeds, but if I put that laptop on the LAN or directly onto the firewall interface I only see 90Mbps down and 45Mbps up. I have check that the interface speeds/duplex on the firewall, switch and laptop are correct and also checked there are no errors on the ports. I also turned off the IPS and that made no difference. In addition I have checked the CPU during download/upload (max): CPU utilization for 5 seconds = 9%; 1 minute: 3%; 5 minutes: 1%

In theory the 5520 should be able to cope with this throughput:

Cisco ASA 5500 Series Model/License:    5520
Maximum firewall throughput (Mbps):          450 Mbps
Maximum firewall connections:                      280,000

It seems that when one our systems that needs to be natted to an outside IP address when connecting out is not doing it. When that system goes out the ip address is our internet IP and not the natted address, however, inbound everything works.

We have one rule that does PAT

nat (INSIDE,OUTSIDE) source dynamic OG_IP_NAT_DMZ obj-1.1.1.1This is the natting statement that should be translating the addressesobject network obj-10.200.0.10

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5510 / PAT / ICMP Echo Outgoing IP

Apr 16, 2013

I have ASA 5510 with soft version 8.4(5) installed. There are two interfaces:

IP 1.1.1.1/24 - inside
IP 2.2.2.1/24 - outside

I have configured PAT, so network 1.1.1.0/24 gets NATted to 2.2.2.2 address. Everything works fine, except I can't reach 2.2.2.2 via ICMP from the internet.

X.X.X.X 2.2.2.2 Deny inbound icmp src OUTSIDE:X.X.X.X dst OUTSIDE:2.2.2.2 (type 8, code 0)

But I have configured an access list allowing ICMP from any to any: access-list outside_access_in extended permit icmp any any

Thus address 2.2.2.1, which is binded to outside interface itself, is perfectly reachable via ICMP.

I've got two questions:

1) Is there a way to fix it? It will be handy for diagnostic purposes.

2) is it possible to configure the secondary IP address on the interface on ASA? I've read, that there are some complications.

We can make a call to anywhere, no problem, if the call is answered, no problem, perfect call setup and good quality 2 way audio. But if the person we called doesn't answer the call and that call goes to their voicemail we loose all audio from that point forward, we do not hear their outgoing message or get any prompts just dead air. The same situation appears to be true for any "recorded" service on the other end of the call.
