Cisco Infrastructure :: 2911 TS Causing A-sync Line Lock Out

Oct 31, 2011

I have a brand new 2911-TS running 2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.M1.  I have connected the async lines to several devices including ASA5510's, 7206V XR and 6506es.  I'm experiencing issues where I go to connect to the console port of one of my devices and my access is denied as if the port was already in a session.  I clear the line and try again, same response.  If I swap that line with a known functioning line I see lines and lines of output as if the device I was trying to connect to was constantly sending data to the console port.  I've not had this problem on any of my older Cisco terminal servers.  I opened a TAC case and they had me RMA the HWIC module.  I cannot find any information about setting some sort of buffer limit or session timeout.  I feel this is a configuration, or mis-configuration issue.

Cisco WAN :: 2911 / 2801 / 881- QoS Causing Router CPU Utilization To Rise

Oct 16, 2012

We have recently implemented some QoS on our routers and i have noticed that the CPU usage has risen enormously as a result.

I checked the CPU Processes and found that the avg values are 50% usage.  This seems rather high considering that only 75% of our edge routers have this feature enabled.

Our main router is a Cisco CISCO2911/K9 (revision 1.0) with 487424K/36864K bytes of memory.  Our edge routers are either 2801 models or 881 models.

This is our first implementation of QoS and would like to ensure that it is working properly before implementing other QoS rules.  Here is a copy of the config on the 2911 router:

class-map match-all Citrix
match protocol citrix
class-map match-all Print
match protocol printer
class-map match-all C-Coolingata
[ code]......

Here is the config on our edge routers:

class-map match-any Citrix
match access-group name Citrix-ACL
 [code]....

As you can see we have different link speeds at different sites based on their size, location etc. How to be able to confirm that this config is correct?

my 866vae Router doesn't sync on a regular VDSL50 German Telekom Line (with regular Phone and a dsl splitter, no voip)!?

IOS is 15.1(4)M4. "show controllers vdsl 0" shows, that the modem status toggles:

 Modem Status: Handshake
Modem Status: Idle
Modem Status: Unknown

I tried to configure the controller to fix to vdsl2

controller VDSL 0
operating mode vdsl2

but that didn't work. Modem Firmware is

Modem FW  Version:23i
Modem PHY Version:B2pvC032b.d23i

IOS image file is c860vae-ipbasek9-mz.151-4.M4.bin

How to proceed next? If i remember correctly, a 886va Router was able to sync on this line...

Cisco :: 2911 Connecting To A Leased Line?

Aug 3, 2012

I have a cisco 2911 set up at one of my sites and it is configured with sub-interfaces as this provides a default gateway to each of the offices.I have just had a 100mb leased line put in and i have a couple of questions regarding the config.let me start by telling you how it is set up .I have 3 HP Procurve switches connected together then that connects to the Cisco and the Cisco connects to a Zywall

HP Switches > Cisco 2911 > Zywall > Internet

We are wanting to remove the Zywall and connect the Cisco to the Leased line box

HP Switches > Cisco 2911 > Leased Line > Internet

The config of the cisco is

G0/0 - is up but no cable connected as this holds the sub-interfaces
G0/1 - Connects the Zywall - 192.168.1.1 (this has firewall rules to forward traffic through)
G0/2 - Leased Line

The way i have configured the sub interfaces is with its own DHCP pool and default router, some of the offices have there own ADSL router and hold there own Internet connection and the default gateway for that is 192.168.xxx.253 and the offices that use the Cisco use default gateway of 192.168.xxx.254

Now my question is how would I move everyone onto the Leased line and get rid of the Zywall ? Would it be as simple as giving the leased line an address and put in a static route to forward all traffic through that connection ? Or am i missing a trick or 2.

Cisco WAN :: 2911 - Test Load On Line / Big Datagram Size?

I am pinging across the Wan to test the circuit and it is pinging fine with the default extended ping 5 repeat count and 100 Datagram size. I was told that I need to up the repeat count to 1000 and the datagram size to 17999 to test the line. Also when performing this test Txload is 255/255.Is this really needed to test the load on the line, that big of a datagram size?

Cisco Infrastructure :: 2911 ISR - Possible To Configure Router?

Jun 21, 2011

Suppose a broadcasted IP packet reaches one of the integrated RJ-45 ports on a 2911 ISR G2, will it be possible to configure the router so that the other integrated RJ-45 ports, ESM/EHWIC modules installed on the router, as well as the MGF also recieve the packet? Technically, the router should act similar to a switch with the SRE behaving similar to a seperate machine connected via the MGF and other external machine connected to the ports of the router to recieve the broadcasted packet.

Also,  if SNMP traps were generated from the router,Will it be possible to send the traps from the router via the MGF to the SRE installed on the router?

Cisco Infrastructure :: Will WIC SHDSL-V3 Able To Support ADSL Line

Apr 10, 2013

I do have a question, is WIC-1SHDSL-V3 able to support ADSL line?

We have WIC-1SHDSL-V3 module used for SDSL line, due to few site need to bring up with ADSL line with 1841 model, but HWIC-1ADSL module already EOS. The replacement model EHWIC-VA-DSL-A is not compatible to 1841. My architect suggest Symmetric Module like WIC-1SHDSL-V3 could be able to tweak the config to support Asymmetric purpose. I did google but do not found such related topic. Can any expert on this area to advice me?

Cisco Infrastructure :: AT Command Set On 2911 PVDM2 Modem?

Oct 8, 2012

I'm having issues trying to dial into the network via ISDN.  Setup is

1.     Users dial in via ISDN PRI/BRI or POTS.

2.     Users using PRI/BRI don't have a problem

3.     Users using the POTS modem way are getting disconnected after approx 5 seconds

4.     Debug shows a disconnect cause '0xF Loss of DTR'

5.     The running config is exactly the same as that of a working 3725 (out of support that's why we're moving to 2911)

6.     Only difference is in the AT Command set modem settings where registry S25 is set to 5 on the 2911 but 0 on the 3725

Problem I have is that when I change the registry setting on the PVDM it is accepted, but as soon as I disconnect my reverse telnet session from the line, it reverts back to the default of 5.  How do I save the registry S25 setting so that it won't revert back?

I have changed the settings then carried out a at&w - which made no difference.  I have also carried out the at&y0 after changing the settings but again, made no difference.  I can't find anything on this page Link that shows how to save the settings (but then again, it could be I can't see the wood for the trees).

Lock-up Affecting Our Entire LAN?

Apr 27, 2011

I work as an administrator for a small business (~30pc and a Windows 2003 R2 server ).Recently, we started to have problem with our lan, the network start to kinda lock-up randomly. For example, browsing folders is fine then you switch to one and the explorer window just do nothing (with a loading cursor) and after 4 second everything refresh and work again, then in word or any other program (sometime not even related to network files/folder) you press the save button and it do the same, do nothing for 4-5 seconds then refresh and work again.I'm positive that no process on the server take up enough CPU time to do that, it's not a per-pc problem since everybody is affected when the problem start and when I reboot the server it work like a charm for another day then the problem may restart the next day.Nothing show up in the event viewer of both PCs and the server and we can't find a correlation between the problem and high CPU/LAN usage on the server (at worse CPU is used at 10% and LAN at 2%).Our RAID controller and our SAS HDs are working flawlessly, we're in the process to change our infrastructure anyway but since I can refer to people that may know their stuff way more than myself I though Id ask here.We first though that our switches may be in cause but then why rebooting the server would be correcting the problem ?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Lock Certain Folders On A NAS

Feb 24, 2013

I've been trying to set up network filtering, and am having no luck.  I'm trying to block certain folders on a NAS (DNS-320).  My 8 yo insists that watching The Walking Dead is appropriate.  So, I need to block specific subfolders so he can't access them.  I would like to keep the NAS available, because there are some ebooks there that he copies to his tablet (Blackberry Playbook) to read. I DON'T want to password protect the DNS-320, because I stream the videos, mainly using XBMC / OpenElec with SAMBA shares. (If not, I can block the table from the whole NAS.)  I prefer to block by MAC so there are no IP switches that happen. I also would like to block certain website (youtube) at specific times.  Is that possible?  Or I can turn off internet for the specified MACs.I wanted to use FREEDNS for the internet filtering, but my providers DSL modem won't keep the changes to DNS server, so that's out.

Cisco Routers :: Lock LAN IP To One WAN Port On RV042?

Jun 24, 2012

I'd like to use load balancing with the RV042, but I have some devices that don't react well to not always using the same outgoing port (like a credit card machine, for instance). Is it possible for me to create some "rule" with the RV042 that an internal IP address will use a certain WAN port? And if so, when that WAN port goes down will the RV042 fail-over to the other active WAN port? I was able to do this with a Xincom XC-OPG502 (which is being replaced with the RV042).

Cisco VPN :: How To Lock VPN Users Into Certain Group-policy With ASA / ACS 8.2

Feb 10, 2011

I have a Cisco ASA (8.2) with several group-policies setup.  By default, I can hit the SSL page, and have a selection of available group-policies for a user to login to.  I want to have different ACLs for each group, to go along with the subnet that each particular group hands out.  Right now, as long as a user is authenticated through AAA, they can log in to any group they select, and therefore, have more permissions than another group.

I know how to hide the list, but I need to be able to assign a specific group to a user based on an attribute in ACS.

I've setup ACS to use the "CVPN3000/ASA/PIX7.x-Tunnel-Group-Lock" Atttribute, to which I match the group-policy name in the ASA, to the attribute on the user account in ACS.This doesn't seem to work, and it just throws the user into DfltGrpPlcy, which doesn't give the user anything.  So it's either wide-open, or it's broken.

I'm using RADIUS authentication and not TACACS, so it should retrieve the attributes, and according to the ACS, it grabs the attribute during the authentication process.
