Cisco Infrastructure :: 2911 - Side Mounting Hole Dimension Schematic

Aug 17, 2011

My mechanical engineer needs detailed measurements for the hole patterns on the sides of the Cisco 2911. Where I could find this?

I've searched and read the installation docs, which shows pictures of the units. Although useful, they does not show exact measurements, angles, and hole diameters.

Cisco Infrastructure :: 2911 ISR - Possible To Configure Router?

Jun 21, 2011

Suppose a broadcasted IP packet reaches one of the integrated RJ-45 ports on a 2911 ISR G2, will it be possible to configure the router so that the other integrated RJ-45 ports, ESM/EHWIC modules installed on the router, as well as the MGF also recieve the packet? Technically, the router should act similar to a switch with the SRE behaving similar to a seperate machine connected via the MGF and other external machine connected to the ports of the router to recieve the broadcasted packet.

Also,  if SNMP traps were generated from the router,Will it be possible to send the traps from the router via the MGF to the SRE installed on the router?

Cisco Infrastructure :: AT Command Set On 2911 PVDM2 Modem?

Oct 8, 2012

I'm having issues trying to dial into the network via ISDN.  Setup is

1.     Users dial in via ISDN PRI/BRI or POTS.

2.     Users using PRI/BRI don't have a problem

3.     Users using the POTS modem way are getting disconnected after approx 5 seconds

4.     Debug shows a disconnect cause '0xF Loss of DTR'

5.     The running config is exactly the same as that of a working 3725 (out of support that's why we're moving to 2911)

6.     Only difference is in the AT Command set modem settings where registry S25 is set to 5 on the 2911 but 0 on the 3725

Problem I have is that when I change the registry setting on the PVDM it is accepted, but as soon as I disconnect my reverse telnet session from the line, it reverts back to the default of 5.  How do I save the registry S25 setting so that it won't revert back?

I have changed the settings then carried out a at&w - which made no difference.  I have also carried out the at&y0 after changing the settings but again, made no difference.  I can't find anything on this page Link that shows how to save the settings (but then again, it could be I can't see the wood for the trees).

Cisco Infrastructure :: 2911 TS Causing A-sync Line Lock Out

Oct 31, 2011

I have a brand new 2911-TS running 2900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-4.M1.  I have connected the async lines to several devices including ASA5510's, 7206V XR and 6506es.  I'm experiencing issues where I go to connect to the console port of one of my devices and my access is denied as if the port was already in a session.  I clear the line and try again, same response.  If I swap that line with a known functioning line I see lines and lines of output as if the device I was trying to connect to was constantly sending data to the console port.  I've not had this problem on any of my older Cisco terminal servers.  I opened a TAC case and they had me RMA the HWIC module.  I cannot find any information about setting some sort of buffer limit or session timeout.  I feel this is a configuration, or mis-configuration issue.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA And UC540 Side-by-side Traffic?

Mar 17, 2013

I'm trying to setup an ASA and a UC540 side by side, to utilize the ASA for data networking and the UC540 for voice. This 'should' work fine, I just seem to be having an issue where the ASA seems to be blocking traffic from the voice network as it passes through. So here is the LAN setup:ASA: 1.1.1.1UC540: 1.1.1.2The UC has a voice vlan 10.1.1.1/24 and a service module at 10.1.10.1/30My PC uses the ASA as its default gateway, 1.1.1.1The ASA then has static routes to the UC networksRoute 10.1.1.1/24 1.1.1.2Route 10.1.10.1/30 1.1.1.2Ping from PC to the UC networks works fine. However, ping from the UC networks to PC fails. ASA logs show traffic being denied due to not having an established connection or something. My guess is that the traffic is being blocked because the egress and ingress paths are different? Traffic from the PC goes to the ASA, then gets routed to the UC and it works. However in the other direction, traffic from the UC is going directly to the PC and bypassing the ASA, because its a directly connected network and doesn't have to route through the ASA to get to the PC. The reply traffic from the PC DOES go through the ASA following its route table, thus the issue of the ASA not seeing the established connection?Same-security inter and intra interface is enabled. So I think I see the issue, I just don't know how to fix it. Is there something I can configure on the ASA to allow for this? My only other option would be to configure a /30 on a new vlan to handle the routing between the UC and ASA or something, but that seems like its going to make this simple setup way too complicated with extra networks, vlans, trunks, etc.I am running ASA version 8.4.5?

Cisco :: 7925 Silence Hole On Wi-Fi

Mar 5, 2013

I have an issue with the 7925 phones. We have a Cisco Call Manager with a couple of access points and a wireless lan controller. But  we have at some points some sort of hole in the sound. He doesn't loose  it's connection because i don't hear the beep when he's out of range. And  according to the phone he still has a connection with the access point.  But there is no sound anymore. And if i walk a couple of meters further  i got sound again. If i walk back i somehow get in the same hole and  loose the sound. Further back in i got sound back.

I  know when it comes to WiFi that there can be some sort of blind spot but  there isn't. He still has it's connection with the AP. Is there a value regarding de RSSI value that he needs to have to get a normal speech?

Cisco VPN :: 1514 / IPSEC VPN - Black Hole Router Detected

Apr 18, 2012

Having some issues with a vpn between two of my locations.   Both edge devices are ASA's, and the tunnel is an IPSEC tunnel.   Both MTU's are set to 1500 both on inside and outside. (provider mtu setting request is 1514, and both ASA's will be changed out soon.)  Unfortunately, some exchange/kerberos auth issues are causing me a problem in the remote site.   I perform the tests that microsoft recommends using a length of 1472 on packet ping size, and do not fragment flag (1406 is the largest packet I can push across the vpn)  .   I know part of this is due to the extra overhead that ipsec places on the connection.

I want to refrain from putting the black hole registry workaround on all of the PC's in this remote location.I've also seen some discussion about manually setting the TCPMSS value down to 1300 on most ASA's.

Cisco Switches :: Dual SG 300-10 Mounting And Cascading?

Oct 31, 2011

SG 300-10 user manual states to not mount the switch on either side (I'm assuming this means the right or left ends as you face the front) and that they can be mounted either face-up or face down or flat). The specs further say that a 5" space must be "around all sides" of the unit. Silly question is what does "all sides of the unit' really mean? (of course given you must mount is somewhere). Also, given the little feet supplied with the unit, it is implicit to me the bottom needs to be only about 1/32" from the horizontal surface it is placed on. If this is true, can this unit be mounted face down on a shelf such as the Leviton 47612-UBK (it's allowing the mounted units to have airflow between the unit and the cabinet back) and have a second SG 300-10 mounted in front of the first that is seperated from the first by either the dual feet or use separation spacers that will fill the available shelf space and maximize the distance between the units - all without degrading the inherent reliability of either?

Lastly, The two SG 300-10's are reaching the internet through a LINKSYS E4200 router. Is it better to have each SG 300-10 occupying its own dedicated port on the router OR to cascade one SG 300-10 to the other SG 300-10 then one of the LINKSYS E4200 router? If the answer is each occupying their own dedicated LINKSYS port, then would it be prudent to load one SG 300-10 with the most active ethernet lines to allow the other SG 300's port power management to shut it down?

Cisco Wireless :: 3502i Ceiling Pole Mounting Options?

Jul 11, 2012

I've got a number of 3502i's that I need to mount in a new classroom that does not have any ceiling (except the floor decking above).  Ceiling is roughly 30-50' up.  Contractors are going to run several 2" (or whatever we want) metal pipes from the ceiling down to a more reasonable level to mount the access points on and get below the hvac ducts/etc in the ceiling.

Problem is I can't find any bracket or mounting options for this!  What are others using in this situation for mounting one of these access points onto a metal pipe such as this?  I've checked Oberon Wireless, Terrawave and I don't see anything glancing through the product catalogs.  Anyone mounting access points this way?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Seems To Die When Mounting External Hard Drive

Jan 20, 2012

I have realized that E4200 V1 I have, with 1.03 firmware, seems to be dying when I reboot it and it tries to load the USB HD I have connected to it. By die I mean the web server does not work anymore (http://192.168.1.1), and new computers can't connect to the router. I suspect it is due to the amount of files I have in the External Disk Drive -I used to have Media Server enabled, but I disabled it because this problem was happening, and I only left File Server enabled. Now since I moved many of my pictures to it, it seems even File Server is causing problems, and if neither one work for me, then this router does not justify its money, since that was the only reason I bought this E4200 hardware. These problems are solved in V2? Since it is still under warranty, I could try to exchange my V1 for a V2 version.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 V2 - Cannot Access USB Storage Via Mounting Share

I just bought an e4200 with firmware version 2.0.36 from Costco.I have set it up manually and have access to the internet for all of my wired and wireless devices.Unfortunately, I cannot access the USB storage via mounting a share, the media server or the FTP server.  I have plugged in a USB storage device that is formatted with FAT32.  The router detects it and allows me to create new shares in the Storage->Disk menu and Storage->Media Server menu - so I know it can read the device and see the folders.  Strangely if I click "Scan All" in the Media Server, it finishes very quickly and never updates the "Last scanning time" field. There was a brief moment when the router showed up in the Network->Computer section of File Explorer, but I can't get it to show here again.

Cisco WAN :: 2900 - LAN Side Redundancy?

Nov 14, 2011

We will be getting a circuit from the same ISP at two of our sites and will be doing eBGP.  Couple of notes. 1. We are fully aware of the risks associated with depending on a single ISP and have mitigated them as much as possible with the ISP. 2. We will be getting assistance on the eBGP setup from the ISP, so I’m not as concerned with that config at this point.

Site Summary

Site A:Cisco 2900 Series (RtrA) connected to single Ethernet based ISP circuit (ISP-1-A)eBGP will run between RtrA and ISP-1-A, default routes from provider onlyLayer 2 Switch (SwA) connected to LAN of RtrA and uplinks to SwB

Site B:Cisco 2900 Series (RtrB) connected to single Ethernet based ISP circuit (ISP-1-B)eBGP will run between RtrB and ISP-1-B, default routes from provider onlyLayer 2 Switch (SwB) connected to LAN of RtrB and uplinks to SwA

I need advise on the LAN side redundancy. Our goal is redundancy; load balancing is not a concern (If load balancing ever becomes a concern I will look at GLBP). We have several devices on the LAN side of the routers that can only use a single gateway. Given that I’ve surmised I need to use HSRP in some way for LAN gateway redundancy.

1. HSRP with Object Tracking, No IGP.HSRP handles LAN gateway failover if a router dies. Object tracking ensures LAN gateway failover if an interface fails or if an interface is up, but there is an upstream traffic issue. ie. track the physical WAN interface and use an IP SLA icmp to track a specific upstream IP incase of an upstream traffic issue.

2. HSRP with OSPFHSRP handles LAN gateway failover if a router dies. OSPF redistributes eBGP default routes to RtrA and RtrB so that each router should have a route to the ISP even if they loose their local ISP circuit.  i.e if ISP-1-A on Router A goes down, Router A knows to send traffic out ISP-1-B via RtrB. In other words, traffic enters RtrA LAN, but exits on RtrB WAN.

3. HSRP with iBGP HSRP handles LAN gateway failover if a router dies. I have no experience with BGP, but assuming this would work similar to the OSPF solution above except for the required iBGP config and possible route reflectors?
