Sep 5, 2012I upgrade firmware from 1.0.3.5 to 1.0.4.17 and from this time I can't connect to any site time from to time. I have simple DHCP WAN connection between my provider and the router, my computer connects to router by wire (only Cisco SG 100D-08 stands between them). When I can't access sites I can access my router and the router needs much more time to answer to me via http. I don't use any vlans or internet access to my computer or router.

Oct 29, 2012The router keeps loosing connection to the internet. I can still log into the router locally but cant connect out or in from the internet. Which is a big problem as i use this device remotely. I have tried different firmware (.9, .19, .27) the .19 seems to be the most stable but i am still having problems. The only way to rectify it is to reboot the router. Is there a fix for this or a way to schedule a reboot on the router.

Jan 16, 2012We are in a hotel that allows us to use their router with a Hawking 300N expander. We seem to lose connection each time their router gets a new IP address. The router seems to lose connection frequently. Is there a setting in the expander that will allow the expander to "follow" the DHCP address of the router without having to take it down and go thru the setup each time.

The house is quite far from the exchange so the average down speed is only 1.75-2 Mbps. This connection is through a BT Infinity R/S/F and I wanted to know if we could just add another R/S/F device and subnet the games console into it's own DMZ with full bandwidth access and then the normal broadband & phone on a different subnet also with full bandwidth access?

May 1, 2012Ok, so if i open Utorrent and let it download for 10 minutes i loose my internet connection. I usually will disconnect my cat5 cable and plug it back in and it doesn't work so i would open up the CMD line and try to reset the network connection but it doesn't respond so the only way i can reset it is to restart the the computerI've tried reinstalling Utorrent but i still keep loosing my connection, yet all the while I am able to run netflix on my PS3 so my internet connection isn't going down.

When I connect directly to the cable modem and run a speed test, using speedtest.net, I get 59MB download speed consistently. When I connect the modem to the router and plug into one of the 4 ports the speed is cut in less than half. The max speed is cut to between 23-24 MB download speeds. I have tried this via wireless as well with the same result.

If I select B/G/N-Mixed mode then when I go to save the change I get B/G/N-Mixed B/G/N-Mixed in red letters and it does not save. If I select N only then when I go to save it says in red letters N only N only.
It does not matter if I pick 20 only or 20/40. It does not matter if I enable or disable U-APSD. It does not matter if I use the LSB or USB side.
Firmware Version:1.0.3.10 :When I got the router it had an older firmware if I remember correctly, and it would let me change to n speed.

I believe it's a v1 of the RVS4000 as I've tried to put the 2.x.x firmware and I couldn't.
My ISP upgraded me to a 100Mb/20Mb down/up plan (Quantum 100 here: URL However, through my RVS4000, I get the following speeds:
Download Speed 18498 kbps (2312.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed 19098 kbps (2387.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency 7 ms
Client Time December 4, 2011 11:06 AM
Server Time December 4, 2011 11:06 AM PST
When I connect directly to the switch rather than through my RVS4000 I get:
Download Speed 45818 kbps (5727.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed 6240 kbps (780 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency 5 ms
Clearly there's something wrong here, where I'm getting less than half the download speed through the RVS4000 than I do without it. From the datasheet, it states that the RVS4000's WAN port is a 10/100/1000 port, so I don't see why I should have the limitation on speed.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 - Hosts Loosing IP Address
Dec 10, 2012I have just started to use an ASA 5510 for my network. I use the DHCP server on it and after i made the change over to ASA hosts started loosing their IP address. This was not a problem before on my old firewall that aso had the roll of DHCP.
Is it possible that something is wrongly sett on the asa? All traffic is flowing normaly when this does not happen.

Using 2 Routers Slows Internet Speed?
Feb 22, 2011I have FiOS and their supplied wireless router Actiontec #: MI424WR. I have equipment that uses the newer N signal so I purchased a Linksys E3000 Wireless-N Router. This is working great for my wireless home theater equipment but I am having problems with my wired speed. It has gone from 20 to 30 mbps to around 10 mbps. I have one of the LAN outputs on the Actiontec feeding the Linksys input, I have my computers plugged directly into the Linksys verses the Actiontec. This makes it easier to program the Linksys router. Since I am no longer using the wireless part of the Actiontec there really is no need to be plugged into it. Is there anything I can do get my speed back or will I have to plug the computer back into the Actiontec and move it every time I may need to make a change to the Linksys

Nov 13, 2012Not sure if this is a problem with the switch or the wireless AP connected to the switch, but I have a couple of 3560's, one is a 3560G and the other is a 3560, both have phones and wireless ap's connected to them. The ap's on both of these switches continue to loose there ip address and thus disconnect from the controller. This happens about once a week, but the odd thing is that the phones never loose there ip address. All of my other 3560s and 3560g's that have AP's and phones connected are working fine.

Jan 1, 2013I have two WAP321s in my office. The network they are on is a single VLAN (172.16.10.x). Both WAPs are setup with the same SSID, and I have setup Single Point Setup.
I am having a problem that was happening before I setup Single Point Setup, and it is still happening. Basically wireless will be up and running fine for part of the day. Then people throughout the office will begin to lose their connections to the DHCP server. They still retain the connection to the WAP, but can no longer access the network.
The only way I have been able to fix this issue is to reboot the WAP. As soon as it reboots the connections come back. At first I thought it was due to the number of connections (which is why we now have 2 WAPs), however we only have about 20-25 conncurrent connections.
I put in the second WAP to try to balance out the load but this does not seem to be working. Is there a setting I need to change on the WAPs to balance out the load?

Jan 12, 2011I bought a new laptop today, unfortunately, it doesnt have a Firewire port and i want to use it for video editing.But i figured no problem really, i'll just capture on my desktop that i have been previously using to edit on, using Premiere pro to edit, but HDVsplit to capture, and then transfer the files over to the laptop using a USB or possibly trying to setup a home network.But when transferring files from the desktop onto the laptop via the router using ethernet cables, the speed is about 250 kb/s and when its the other way around, from the laptop to the desktop, the speed is 10 MB/s! I think it may be related to the same IP address being assigned to multiple machines connected to the router. Is there a way to set specific IP addresses to each item connected to the router to see?

Mar 1, 2012My IP provider has upgraded my broadband speed in early Jan. They require ADSL2. It seems to coincide with this date that I keep loosing my internet connection on a regular basis, say every 2 days or so, but not consistent. The cure is to unplug the linksys WAG200G ADSL home gateway. Plug it in again and all is well, until the next time. On the box it says the until is ADSL2/2+ compliant.
