Cisco Routers :: RV220W - Feature Request - IPv6 Firewall?

Jan 19, 2012

At this moment (firmware 1.0.3.5) the router has no IPv6 firewall and therefore when used in a typical dual stack IPv4/IPv6 network it has no protection regarding IPv6 traffic. Hopefully this will be fixed with a firmware update before the World IPv6 Day on the 6th of June 2012.

Cisco Routers :: DMZ Feature Of Small Business RV220W Not Working?

Dec 23, 2011

I have been trying to configure a local DMZ on our network with the Cisco Small Business RV220W router, running the latest 1.0.3.5 firmware but it doesn't seem to be fully functional? Does the DMZ feature actually do anything at the current state of this router? Because when I tried to DMZ host a computer on our local network I still had to manually port forward different applications in order for people to reach it from WAN.

For instance when trying to host a game session, utilizing TCP port 7777 it didn't matter whether I had enabled DMZ or not, I was still required to manually port forward the port to the DMZ IP-address.

Doesn't this defeat and eliminate the whole purpose of the DMZ feature in the first place?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W - Setup An IPv6 Connection

Jan 25, 2012

My ISP provides IPv6 connectivity in the form of dual stack IPv4/IPv6 with DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation. Using a Cisco IOS-based router I managed to make such a connection by using as a template the Cisco IOS configuration file that my ISP has posted as an example in the following link:

[URL]

The main point on this configuration is a PPPoE connection with:

interface Dialer46
ipv6 address autoconfig default
ipv6 enable

[Code].....

configure this router according the Cisco IOS configuration file I linked on the top in order to have a working IPv6 connection?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W - Routing IPv6 Subnet

Feb 27, 2013

I have a few questions regarding IPv6.

Question 1.
I have no idea how to route IPv6. My provider has provided me with a subnet. This subnet is for example 1:1:1::/48

The router of the provider is located at 1:1:1::1 and my router should get 1:1:1::2(Cisco router). Every subnet I want to create must be routed by 1:1:1::2, for example if I want to create 1:1:1:1111::/64 it needs to be routerd by 1:1:1::2

How do I configure this on the RV220w?

Question 2.
I have the possibility to create vlans on the RV220W. I can configure IPv4 addressen per vlan. Only for IPv6 this is not possible. How do I configure this or when will new software be released to configure this?Or do I have to edit the configuration file?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W And IPv6 Prefix Delegation

Aug 6, 2012

I noticed that the recently released firmware version 1.2.0.9 for the RV110W router mentions in the release notes that DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation is now supported.

Does that mean that this feature will also be implemented in some future firmware release (if we ever see one) for the RV220W router? This is the method used by most if not all ISPs around the world (e.g. Comcast) for IPv6 and the only one RV220W does not currently support. P.S. As of beta version 1.0.4.13 there is no support for IPv6 Prefix Delegation.

D-Link DCS-930L :: Feature Request For Motion Detection On A Schedule

Mar 8, 2011

I realize that this is a new product, but nevertheless I have some feedback after running my 4 new DCS-930L camera over the past few days.

Currently, you can configure the camera to EMAIL/FTP images on a schedule or when motion is detected, but not both.

Why does it matter? Because I get flooded with email alerts after I get home from work and later in the evening every time I walk by one of the cameras or whenever a light switch is turned on/off.

If I could configured the motion detection to only alert during a specified schedule of days and hours, it would be great!

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Feature Request For 3750s And Other Stackable Switches?

May 6, 2013

can you stack a 3750 switch over fiber.....the answer is no, but the virtual switching supervisor 720-10G for the 6500 can create one virtual switch using two 6500s...

how can we get cisco to come up with a way for access switches to be stacked over fiber similar to above supervisor?  i know of few of my site that would benefit from this...maybe they can come up with a vss appliance, similar to a media converter, to convert stackwise over fiber...then of course, you would need the same appliance on the other end....

Cisco Routers :: RV220w - Reentering Network Through Firewall

Aug 3, 2012

We have installed a cisco rv220w for a client that use to have a simple linksys router and are having some difficulties configuring it. Here is what we are trying to accomplish:

1) we are trying to see cameras at an office using the iphone.

2) with the linksys we would point the iphone app to the manufacturers dynamic dns account that was tracking the ip address at the office. In turn, the linksys had 3 ports forwarded to the camera controller. All was great.

3) we then installed a cisco rv220w and what happens is when the iphone is outside the internal network (on 3G) it works fine. If the owner comes back to the office and connects to the local wifi he can no longer connect to the camera controller. If he types in the local ip address of the controller it works fine but we can't seem to go out of the internal network, connect to the ddns server, and then come back in. This is only an issue if he has 3G and wifi on in the internal network.

4) if he's on a different wifi network and has 3G on it works just fine.

5) how can i setup the router to allow me to go outside the network and then redirect me back in with both antennas on?

Below are the settings we used.

Linksys:
Forward tcp port 81 to 192.1681.200 (controller)
Forward tcp port 41790 to 192.168.1.200 (controller)
Forward tcp port 1025 to 192.168.1.201 (ip video server)

[Code]....

One last note: we installed cisco AP-541 access points in a cluster. No settings were modified on the access points and i think they worked fine with the linksys installed but will have to check.

Cisco Routers :: RV220W - Network Security Firewall / NAT And DHCP

Jun 4, 2013

We have

1-A wireless link (pre-wimax) that provide me with 2 Mb internet connection (tagged Ethernet frames) throught RJ-45
2-have 6 real IP _one of them as Gateway

What i need now is what is the best and cheapest device to do NAT and DHCP to allow users to access the internet , i am trying to do this using Cisco AP 1141 and the link is working fine with static ip configuration on my lap (give my wireless NIC real IP) but now i just need device to do NAT and DHCP

My suggestion is can i use  Cisco RV220W Wireless-N Network Security Firewall to do this function. is the WAN port on this router support tagged Ethernet frames ??? or even untagged frames and can i give this router one of those public IPs and give the rest of those IPs statically to other devices on the network.

Cisco Routers :: RV220w Firewall Rules And InterVLan Routing?

Aug 27, 2012

I would like to isolate my wlan from the remaining network but with two exceptions. First it sould be possible to print from all devices in the wlan and second... my notebook should not be isolated

Therefore I did the followning steps:

1. Create vlan
2.Set access rules

Basically I blocked any inter-vlan-routing from the wireless vlan. I allowed all traffic from the wireless address range to the printer's ip address. I allowed all traffic from the notebook's ip address to the private vlan.

3. Set a static DHCP entry for the notebook
4. Set an IP/MAC binding entry for the notebook

For some reason I can reach any ip address from any wireless device.

Cisco Routers :: RV082 - Blocking Of DNS Request

Jun 7, 2010

I have an RV082 (running  2.0.0.19-tm) set up as the gateway to the Internet on my home LAN, and  connect to it through several switches / hubs around my house.   Randomly, and from various connections around the house (which are all  plugged in to different ports of the RV082), a Web request will fail to  load, giving a "Server not found" error in the browser. When I look  at the log in the RV082, it says, "Connection Refused: Policy  Violation".

It  seems to be just blocking the DNS requests - everything else appears to  go through normally. For example, I get the message "Looking up  domain name.com" in the  bottom corner of the browser and the request  fails, displaying the Mozilla "Server not found" error page.  When I  click the "Try Again" button the page, it goes through just fine and  everything  works.

I don't have any services running behind the firewall, and  do not use the VPN settings. Here are my current firewall settings:

Firewall : Enable

Cisco Firewall :: ASA (8.4) / Redirect Outside IP Request To Inside Host

Mar 27, 2012

Wondering if on the ASA (8.4) its possible to do something like what DNS rewrite does, but with IP requests.  Scenario.  Mobile phone accesses a web app inside our network fine over cellular.  Once it comes inside on to wifi it still has the public IP address cached so the ASA doesn't allow its request to loop around and the app appears broken.  We're considering lowering the TTL on the DNS host entry but I think we are battling phones/mobile OS's that don't have a strict adherence to name resolution standards.  A lot just seem  to refresh their caches every 10-15 minutes.

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 VLAN Feature Buggy?

Jan 1, 2010

I bought a RVS4000 Router last week. I configured two VLAN's (beside of the default one), VLAN ID 120 and VLAN ID 130. I configured an IP in the LAN section for both of them (192.168.120.1 and 192.168.130.1).

I then configured port 1-3 to be in VLAN ID 120 (Untagged) and port 4 to be the Trunk (VLAN ID 120 Tagged and VLAN ID 130 Tagged). The port 4 I connected a Cisco SLM224G. There I configured these two VLAN's too, and configured the uplink port as Trunk as well. The two network seem to be properly switched: I have access to 130 Hosts directly on the VLAN ID 130, and the other VLAN ID 120, I have access on all hosts connected to that VLAN ID as well (both, on the switch and the three ports on the router). On Layer 3, the RVS4000 is configured to route between the VLAN's. But I cant ping hosts on the other network! I configured the Router to be the default gateway... I think the source of that problem is the next one:

I can't ping from the Routers Maintainance Page to a host connected on Port 1-3 of the Switch (which is configured as VLAN ID 120 untagged). I reseted the router, and tested this simple use case again: Created two VLAN's, defined Port 2 to be in one of them, setted the IP's properly (192.168.120.1 for the Router on that VLAN), but stil, I cant ping from the Router to Host on that VLAN (Router=>192.168.120.10)! The other way around works (Host=>192.168.120.1)

The Routers Configuration:

WAN: PPPoE (works)
LAN: VLAN ID 1: 192.168.1.1 no DHCP
VLAN ID 120: 192.168.120.1 no DHCP
VLAN ID 130: 192.168.130.1 no DHCP

[code]....

Wiresharks shows me no ARP requests on that interface too... The product seems not to work porperly when I configure a port to be in a VLAN untagged, and try to ping to a host connected to that interface.

I have Firmware 3.1.0.0 (Website says 3.0.5.0 is the newest...?)

Cisco Firewall :: NAT-Control Feature In ASA 8.4 (2)?

Aug 26, 2011

I'm a bit confused about new NAT functionality in Ver 8.4(2). I've gone through all the documentation as well as different blogs but still not clear about the various things. One of these is NAT-CONTROL. I understand that this has now been removed. Does this means that traffic traversing the ASA doesn't need any NAT'ing commands unless specifically required by the administrator? In other words by default traffic is allowed through the firewall without any NAT'ing.

My Second Query

I've ASA5520 running ver 8.4(2). For inside interface, I've created 13 x sub-interfaces under Gi0/1. All have same security level i.e. 100. What I want to achieve is that:Traffic from these sub-interfaces should be NATTed to outside interface when going to internetBut, intra sub-interface traffic should be allowed without NAT'ing. I'm using RFC1918 on both sides i.e. source / destination The first point is not a problem it's working, however. I'm struggling with the second point. On ver 8.2, it wasn't a problem, I used NAT 0 with access-list permitting RFC1918 addresses as source and destination.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 Inspect SIP Dropping Request Message Packets

Mar 17, 2011

I have 2 ASA 5510 firewalls at 2 different sites. Both running on version 8.0.4. Users are using an Instant Messaging type of application provided by a local telco here which is able to send and receive SMS using SIP (from the packet capture that I've done).

When users use the IM in site A, they are able to send and receive text messages via the IM from behind the firewall. However, when the users are in site B, users are able to send out text messages but not able to receive them.

I noticed that when I remove "inspect sip" from site-B's global policy map, users from site-B can successfully receive text messages. I have confirmed that it is the firewall that drops the packets as I have captured the inside and outside interfaces of site-B's ASA and I can see the incoming sip "request: MESSAGE" packet on the outside interface but I do not see the packet exiting the inside interface.

I have cross check both firewall configurations, and I do not see anything suspicious commands relating to sip that might cause this issue. Is there any command to troubleshoot why the sip inspection is dropping the sip packets on site-B?
