Cisco Security :: NAC 4.8.3 Supports Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard?

Jan 24, 2013

I´m looking at this document: [URL] and I´m not clear if Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1 is supported.  The documentation refers to Windows 2008 Server SP2 and Windows 2008 Server R2, but I see no specific mention to Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1.

Cisco :: LMS 3.2 VM Machine Running Windows 2008 Standard Edition

Nov 6, 2012

We're installing LMS 3.2 on a VM machine running Windows 2008 Standard edition (64 Bit).

You cannot install CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 application(s) on an unsupported operating system or when Terminal Services is running on the supported Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, Windows 2008 Server Enterprise Edition,Windows 2003 Server Enterprise edition, and Windows 2003 R2 Server Platforms.  The setup program will exit when you click ok.You must either upgrade the operating system on the server to a supported version or install LMS 3.2 application(s) on another server that runs a supported operating system.

I've disabled all RDP sessions and ANTI-Virus Software. The documentation states 2008 server Standard (64 bit) is supported.

I'm in the process of building them a new file server and am considering using Server Standard 2008.I am even going to take them off the domain and make their server strictly a file server for Peacthree. It is the only reason they even need a "server".

Server 2008 R2 Windows Server Backup

Dec 14, 2010

I've been reading that the Windows Server Backup that is included with Server 08 R2 is pretty good. Is spending $400 on a third party utility worth it?

I'm asking because we're purchasing a new server soon and I want to know if the included backup is going to be good enough. Will be backing up server state as well as data to tape and possibly an off site server (server 2003) if I get my way.

How To Use Windows Server 2008 As Router

Sep 4, 2012

I am involved in a huge project that requires Servers PCs to function as Routers in schools to prevent broadcast traffic issues (Thread here: Need Professional Advice on 3 MANs implementations - Long story short: Can't buy regular routers because of budget and neet to use current equipment to make the network work, that is, Windows Servers 2008 with 2 NICs.

Now to the point. We are making tests but can't make Static routes to work properly. Design is as follows:

Now we have seen that we need to use this command (in cmd) to add a static route in W2008:

route add [NETWORK DESTINATION] mask [SUBNETMASK] [GATEWAY] if [NIC]

Q1: What exact command(s) do we have to use to make the Laptop in 10.10.10.0 to access Internet? How would you fill those fields based on the diagram?
Q2: How many Static routes do we need to declare? I am guessing we just need one, but I have been told that I need to activate two (one for packets sent by the laptop to the router, and one for the packets sent by the router to the laptop?)

We have tried several combinations and can't make laptop to access Internet, not even to ping 192.168.1.5. We have just accomplished pinging to 192.168.1.181 from the Laptop, and to ping 10.10.10.2 from the Server but that's as far as we went.

Cisco :: LMS 4.1 Installation On Windows Server 2008 R2

Feb 7, 2012

As always, I am trying to install LMS 4.1 on windows server 2008 R2 and after the installation and login to the LMS I find the following:DCRServer is down or may not be completely up. Check if the DCRServer process is running. And after some troubleshooting I found that the LMS is not creating the CMF database and the other databases.

1. I have downloaded the installation file from Cisco website twice, so I do not think it is the file that is corrupted, also it is only evaluation license.

2. I have met all the prerequisites and requirement as in the documentation guides, but maybe there is something still wrong.

Windows Server 2008 Core Installation

Jul 27, 2011

Any here ever used a Windows Server 2008 Core installation? Got one running on a VM right now, thought I'd try it. After installing VMWare Tools things really speeded up. Now gave it a static IP, installed Active Directory services (DNS along with it) and everything seems to work. The RAM usage is about the same, but so far it's been much more responsive, and it takes a lot less disk space, it needs just under 3GB for the moment. Any else here have one running, or seen one in a production environment? I don't think they're very common yet.

Windows 2008 R2 Server - Error 105 For Gmail Only?

Mar 8, 2013

I run a tiny home domain with 1 Windows 2008 R2 server and 2 clients (one for me and one for the hubby). Our server is DC, DNS, and DHCP server (and some other roles). Our clients are both Windows 8 but we use the standalone Chrome installation, version 25.0.1364.152 m.The problem is that on my Windows 8 client, every once in a while (not the same time period each time, but roughly every 6-15 days) I get the error in the title on one site when using Chrome only, which is Gmail. I can access and resolve Google and every other site, and my DNS server itself can resolve Gmail, but not until I flush the DNS of my local client will Gmail work again. Also strangely, I have left it on the morning when it happened before, and when I came home from work it had sorted itself out. The other client, hubby's Win 8 PC, also sometimes gets this issue, but not nearly as often as I do. Flushing the local DNS cache resolves it for him as well.

I used my ISP's DNS servers for forwarding initially, but changed to Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 when this kept happening, and it didn't seem to make a difference. I've enabled scavenging and aging and all sorts and those are faithfully renewing themselves as expected, but as the problem only lies on the clients and never the server, I'm quite lost as to what to try next.I've had a look on the Chrome forums (gulp) and nothing seems to be as specific as this fault
