I´m looking at this document: [URL] and I´m not clear if Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1 is supported. The documentation refers to Windows 2008 Server SP2 and Windows 2008 Server R2, but I see no specific mention to Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard with SP1.

We're installing LMS 3.2 on a VM machine running Windows 2008 Standard edition (64 Bit).
You cannot install CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 application(s) on an unsupported operating system or when Terminal Services is running on the supported Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, Windows 2008 Server Enterprise Edition,Windows 2003 Server Enterprise edition, and Windows 2003 R2 Server Platforms. The setup program will exit when you click ok.You must either upgrade the operating system on the server to a supported version or install LMS 3.2 application(s) on another server that runs a supported operating system.
I've disabled all RDP sessions and ANTI-Virus Software. The documentation states 2008 server Standard (64 bit) is supported.
We got this software from Cisco and we need to setup this in our network to manage the firewalls.Need to know this software is used to centrally manage the firewalls ?Also how i can i know how to setup this in our network?Assuming this software we will first install on server right? it can be windows server ?Second thing to know is what config changes we have to do on the existing and new ASA so that they can be managed centrally? Also Where i will get the documents that tell me how to setup/install this software?

I'm asking because we're purchasing a new server soon and I want to know if the included backup is going to be good enough. Will be backing up server state as well as data to tape and possibly an off site server (server 2003) if I get my way.

View 5 Replies View RelatedStill trying to get this XP pro SP3 to connect to or log into the server, a Windows 2008 jobber. I get the pop up that says unable to access the server, may be a permissions issue. I am administrator on both though and it should not be an issue plus I can ping each machine from the other. The XP machine does not show up in the network on the server though. The server shows up on the XP but then will not allow me to log into it. I changed all user names and pass codes on all the machines to be the same and it cleared up a number of issues except this one. The network name on the server is Network 2 and on another machine the network is named Network 3. Don't know what this means. This XP machine used to connect to the server without issues. My server guy moved away and well, I am just not that savy on 2008 Server. All the other machines are Windows 7. Oh yes, this is a work group with DHCP from a VPN and a Comcast (bless their souls) gateway.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am involved in a huge project that requires Servers PCs to function as Routers in schools to prevent broadcast traffic issues (Thread here: Need Professional Advice on 3 MANs implementations - Long story short: Can't buy regular routers because of budget and neet to use current equipment to make the network work, that is, Windows Servers 2008 with 2 NICs.
Now to the point. We are making tests but can't make Static routes to work properly. Design is as follows:
Now we have seen that we need to use this command (in cmd) to add a static route in W2008:
route add [NETWORK DESTINATION] mask [SUBNETMASK] [GATEWAY] if [NIC]
Q1: What exact command(s) do we have to use to make the Laptop in 10.10.10.0 to access Internet? How would you fill those fields based on the diagram?
Q2: How many Static routes do we need to declare? I am guessing we just need one, but I have been told that I need to activate two (one for packets sent by the laptop to the router, and one for the packets sent by the router to the laptop?)
We have tried several combinations and can't make laptop to access Internet, not even to ping 192.168.1.5. We have just accomplished pinging to 192.168.1.181 from the Laptop, and to ping 10.10.10.2 from the Server but that's as far as we went.
I just started a new job and on there server running Server 2008 they have a 1TB hd it is mirrored. Issue I saw right away is they save EVERYTHING there. Is there an easy way to just add diskspace like as an external storage or whatever without having to rebuild server and rebuild raid?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAny here ever used a Windows Server 2008 Core installation? Got one running on a VM right now, thought I'd try it. After installing VMWare Tools things really speeded up. Now gave it a static IP, installed Active Directory services (DNS along with it) and everything seems to work. The RAM usage is about the same, but so far it's been much more responsive, and it takes a lot less disk space, it needs just under 3GB for the moment. Any else here have one running, or seen one in a production environment? I don't think they're very common yet.
