I want to "stack" a couple 300 series gigabit switches with fiber using a pair of MGBSX1 GBICs and a single LC to LC patch cable.Is there a minimum supported patch cable length in this configuration?

The current situation that all existing Fiber Patch Cords cables & fiber cables coming from field are multimode. So, I think we have a compatibility issues. We need clarifications from your, what are the options that we can do to resolve this issue.Can we connect the above switches to multimode Fiber Patch Cords cables?
I have a couple Dell R710 2U servers that came with the Dell quick rails. The rack I am trying to place them in is a 4-post open cabinet, but the depth of the posts are about an inch too short to allow the Dell quick rails to snap-lock to the square holes. Are there any 2U extenders I can attach to the back two posts of the cabinet to give the minimum length needed for the Dell quick rails to snap-lock? The extenders would also need to have the square holes.

I have a 6500 connected to 3750 using fiber connection using patch panel.on the gig port of the 6500 give of error in Input errors, CRC and FRAME.There is no error from the 3750 gigport.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Cisco SF 102-24 unmanaged 100 series swith with a MGBSX1 mini-Gbic converter. My goal is to connect this to a building that is connected with a Black Box LH1706A-ST media converter that has 100mb ST fiber connections. In my testing the Black Box shows both a Fiber link and RJ45 port link at 100mb, but the MGBSX1 does not show any link lights or traffic. So a computer connected to the Cisco switch is not able to communicate over the fiber connection.
Can the MGBSX1 be connected to a media converter that only has 10/100 ST fiber connectors?
I used 2 PC with gigabit NIC, use cat6 with short cable i've got speed 1000Mbps, but with longer cable(around 30meters) speed is 100Mbps. I'm looking forward to seeing from you soon.

I know the length in feet of cable that I was given, but I was wondering if there is some kind of markers on the cable to tell me how much is left... I will be charged for it by foot after I'm done, and I want to know how much I've used. Do I have to just use a measuring tape? Seems unnecessarily complicated... I've checked the wire but can't see any marker of the length remaining.

Currently, this building has 3 wiring closets, and each closet has 2 Intel Standalone 460 switches (24 ports). We use them as simple Layer 2 Switches. Nothing fancy.We recently bought 3 48 port HP Procurve Gigabit switches.I was planning on going in and swapping the 2 Intel Switches out with the HP Procurve Switches. The first closet went fine, and we had immediate connectivity (servers, Internet, etc.). However, when I went to the second closet I found that I could not connectivity back to the first closet.I then noticed the patch cable going from Closet A to Closet B is terminated with a female connection on both end. And then a patch cable is connected from the end, to the switch at both sites. I have never seen this before. And I hope I am making sense. Why would this method work with the old Intel switches (that are close to 10 years old) and not with the HP?
