Each line card comes with dual 10Gig Ethernet X2 Optics. I am currently using int g5/1 and g6/2. I tried to connected a server to the int g5/2 and assigned the poper parameters(VLAN, speed, ...etc) but I am the int is showing down. Is there some type of limitations in using the second port of each line card?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy manager ordered some Cisco X2-10GB-LR in hopes of having a 10GB uplink between two buildings. We put those modules on the switch and we are getting link flap errors, then the ports goes into err-disabled state.
I was later told there is a couple of "hops" between the buildings, it could be a patch panel or a fiber switch, I do not know at this point. My guess is, we are getting link flap because the "hops" are only running at 1GB. Would this be a typical sympton of the link flap error message? and is there any way to test if there is switches inbetween our routers?
I was using firefox this morning and my desktop suddenly just stopped connecting to the internet. I unplugged the ethernet cord and tried it on my laptop and it connects to the internet fine using the same ethernet cord. I have on-campus internet, so there is no router or anything for me to try resetting. I tried the windows 7 troubleshooter and it said to reset the router, but there is no router to resetOn the non-connecting computer, I can ping the IP address and the default gateway address, but not the DNS servers or something like yahoo
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I'm going to college soon and for some odd reason, they are only giving us an ethernet cable in our dorm rooms. (We do not have access to the router or wifi in our dorms for some odd reason). Since this is the case, I want to sometimes bring my laptop onto my bed rather than be constrained to my desk, where the cord is. Is there any way to get some sort of device, like a wireless bridge or router that gets its source from ethernet and I can set up a wireless network?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug my ethernet cord into my Dell XPS laptop, Windows doesn't detect that I have a connection. I've tried another cord and it works (it's too short to use instead) and my roommate has tried my cord and it works fine on his computer.I've tried diagnosing the problem, disabling and enabling the Local Area Connection, but nothing seems to work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI live in a dorm where internet is provided through a router that is pretty much encased in a metallic box on the side of the wall. At the beginning of the year, my parents bought me an extremely long ethernet cable ( about 15 feet I'm guessing). I have been using this ethernet cord with no problems up until now. I find it difficult to maintain the long cord as it gets tangled everywhere and I switch it between my laptop and my xbox (I can't get a switch to work). After prolonged switching between the xbox and the laptop the little tab thing that you push broke off and the cable starts to slide and disconnects me from the internet. I decided to get another ethernet cable and I tried connecting it but my laptop does not detect the cable and I do not see any lights turn on like my other ethernet.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-825 stays on even when I flick the power switch, for as long as I don't disconnect the externally powered Belkin USB hub from it. Some lights do come off, Internet light turns orange, but it stays on. If I disconnect the hub before trying to shut down the router, it turns off instantly.
I feel slightly worried by this because as far as I am aware, a USB client device shouldn't be feeding power to the host. On the other hand, the host shouldn't be accepting power from the client either.
Also, sometimes after days since last reboot, the USB light on the router is not on despite connected devices, and they may or may not appear in Shareport.

I am trying to set up an ASR with 10Gb connectivity. I noticed a new card that does not appear to show up in any data sheets. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking at provisioning a Catalyst 4500 with a WS-X4712-SFP+E module to allow for future 10Gb connectivity via 10Gb SFP+ interfaces. These cards are backwards compatible with standard 1Gb SFP interfaces but I'm wondering about the other way around; ie. can you populate these blades with 10Gb SFP+ interfaces when they connect to Catalysts with only 1Gb SFP interfaces at the other end?
The data sheets don't really explain this. It seems pointless getting 10Gb SFP+ interfaces for the 4500 when it's only 1Gb at the access layer end, but these access switches will be replaced in the near future (~12 months) and if the 10Gb SFP+ interfaces support connections at 1Gb speeds upfront, it would mean I could retain these interfaces when the access switches upgrade to 10Gb connectivity capabilities down the track. Does the 10Gb SFP+ interfaces are compatible with 1Gb SFP's or only other 10Gb SFP+ interfaces?
