Is there a way to identify if a switch port is burned via CLI? I have a 2960-48PST switch and some ports don't provide power to a PoE device connected. When I change the port, the device turns on.

1. when user 1 copy data from server ,at that time who is in switch2 behind like user2 ,he is getting problem like when ping to default-gateway,or rto is coming and network is very slow .
2. when i open sw2,sw1,sw3,trunk ports utilization is very high except sw4 to sw1 trunk ports,who behind sw4 like user4 ,he is not getting problem.
3.all switches trunkport in my network is faster ethernet and i have no option to connect trunkport to gigaehternet and ethernet channel.

Switch IP = 10.1.2.3, GW = 10.1.2.1, Subnet = 255.255.255.0
DHCP addresses would be 192.168.1.1 - 200, GW=???? (10.1.2.3?) and subnet would be 255.255.255.0

I will probably need PoE up to around 50 Meters and will be using PoE on most of the 48 ports over CAT5e 100Mbps with 1Gbps upload is fine so these switches do seem to tick all the boxes but I’m not sure if there are better options?

Several days ago there was a huge storm, and I think a thunder burned the WAN port of my linksys wrt120n router. Everything else is working good, I can detect the local network but I don't have internet. My internet connection is also working good. My question is, do I have a possibility to use some of LAN port like a WAN? I'm only using 2 of 4 LAN ports. It would be very useful because it's a pity to buy another router just for a not working WAN port.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a c2969-48PST-L switch running IOS Version 12.2(55) SE. The switch is configured for 802.1x authentication. The radius server is a Cisco ACS 5.2. We are using PEAP and allowing EAP-TLS and EAP-MS-CHAPv2. Windows 7 PCs (HP Elitebooks) are using the "windows" supplicant and configured to 802.1x authentication is enabled using Microsoft Protected EAP (PEAP), we are not validating any certificates and the authentication method is Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2). What is occurring every so often is that the PC will fail authentication (intermittently) and the ACS shows the reason as being 5411 EAP session timeout. This is a pretty generic message according to TAC. The interesting part to me is the Authentication Method showing on the ACS when the authentication fails is simply PEAP. However, when it does not fail the Authenication Method is shown as PEAP (EAP-MSCHAPv2). We have the Cisco TAC looking at the ACS and they are saying the issue is the client not reponding to the request correctly from the switch.if the version of IOS softare on the switch maynot be handling the communication to the ACS correctly. I have wireshark traces of a successful authenication and unsuccessful one. There does seem to be any difference from the client side at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco SG 300-20 as the core switch, layer 3. It is 192.168.4.6 on VLAN1 and 192.168.5.1 for VLAN2 (VOIP). All the ports are set in trunk mode. DHCP relay is setup on this switch.
The phones connected into a layer 2, Catalyst 2960-S switch. All ports are set in trunk mode. Default gateway on it is set to 192.168.5.1.
DHCP for both VLANs is provided by a Windows Server 2008 R2 server (the relay IP 192.168.4.15).
There is also an ASA 5510 in the mix which is 192.168.4.1. It has a route added to it for the 192.168.5.0 network to go to the SG 300 (192.168.5.1).
Just the two switches can ping each other on the 192.168.5.x network when I "add vlan 2" to the trunk port that is connected between the SG 300 and the 2960. The phones don't get DHCP on the 2960 switch. And I cannot ping 192.168.5.x from the ASA or anything else on the 192.168.4.x network.
After a bit of reading on intra-vlan routing for the SG 300 switch, I am thinking the SG 300 has to be the "center" of things so I need to make it 192.168.4.1 to be the gateway for both VLANs and change the ASA to 192.168.4.2 for VLAN1, etc. And I really can't do asymmetric routing with this switch.

I have a statck of 4 2960s switches, with POE powered access points on 2 of them. All of the access points appear to be functioning normally. For some reason, on 3 interfaces connected to access points, I get the following when issuing show interfaces status:

I am setting up a new 2960-S switch and none of the recommended username and passwords combinations work. I have tried CIsco Cisco, <blank> cisco and various other permutations.
I have tried to reset the switch to factory defaults and it still doesn't work. The switch is currently connected to a 3560G and has been assigned an IP. If I try to access it from Network assistant it shows as unmanaged and I get prompted for a username and password.The switch is connected to another new 2960-S via a FlowStack module.

The status of the port blinks amber and stays contionous amber, I have searched the manual of the switch and it says that amber means that the port is being blocked by STP.
