I'm looking for a 24-port SFP switch. Each of the two switches in the subject meets that requirement. If I went with the ME switch over the 3750 (at about half the cost), what features/functionality if any, would I be giving up?
View 5 RepliesIn my MDF I have a 4stack of the WS-3750-48P switches. Is it possible to replace one with a C3750X48PF-S with out causing any issues? Or would it be better to just have 3 stacked and trunk this one to the core 4506. Keeping in mind I bought this one to expand the port number for one of our remote offices.. I would hate to send them the gig switch when there isn't as much usage..Besides if I can get my CFO on this switch he might authorize me to replace the rest... He is reticent to believe it makes really all that much of a difference.

View 7 Replies View RelatedStruggling to find any documentation that states both "ip accounting & netflow" are supported on the new ME3600 switches. I have tried both a 12 and 15 release of software. Netflow produces no data what so ever, ip accounting only produces data (of the global network) when configured on my uplink (running MP-BGP network) unable to get specific data for user networks in seperate VRFs. Is this a case of the commands being there but not being supported?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOur customer has a Cisco ME3600X with the IOS me 360x-universalK9-mz.122-52.EY3.They are saying that is not possible to configure the "switchport port-security mac-address sticky" in the interfaces and want to know whether any additional license is needed.As far as I know there isn't any extra license to activate this feature and also I believe the ME3600 switch should have this feature with the universal IOS, isn't that right?

This switch is situated on a remote site and on the 6th of January it was rebooted.
I still do not know the cause, but it might be power outage or smth. We are still checking. After the reboot I've noticed that one port on this cisco switch is in 'notconnect' state, while I'm pretty sure it should be 'connected'.
I've tried to shutdown the port adminstratevly and do the 'no shutdown' but this port remained in 'disable' state.

I want to deploy the C3750X 24-port SFP switch as the core switch in a large Layer 2 switching domain.The switch will need to run:
+/- only 10 large VLANs, 6 VLANs with HSRP
+/- 500 MACs total
+/- 5 OSPF sessions default timers
standard PVST+ (no Rapid PVST+)i need around 27 SFP ports (24 + 4 on network module=28=ok, extra capacity by stacking)
Looking at the switching capacity of the specs (160 Gbps) this is much better than a C6500 with SUP32-GE !Will it be able to handle this or should i look for C6500+SUP32GE or C6500-SUP720 or maybe even C4500 ?
First of all I purchased the switches with part no. WS-C3750X-48P with the following IOS c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE1 & IOS feature license to work as ipservice.
Symptoms:
1) - When running the switches in stack mode (connecting the booth switch with full-duplex stack) I found the cpu utilization on each switch reached to 34% The Hulc LED Process reaches to 20%
3) - After about 1 hour with no connections to the switch I found the status not changed.
4) - I tried to run each switch in stand-alone mode (without stack cables connected) & monitor the status of the cpu utilization. I found it the same problem exist. Actions taken:
1) - Refereeing to the internet I found a bug ID describing the status of the mentioned symptoms (attached)
2) - I made a down grade for the IOS version to be c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin
3) - The mentioned IOS solved the Hulc LED Process (became 1 : 3 % ) & however cpu utilization became 18% with no links or traffic connected to the switches.
4) - I guess that 18 % utilization is too much for a free switch (refer to the show run file) as I did not configure any advanced commands.
Which is the best and advanced IOS for c3750x-48P-E stack switch among below listed IOS.
c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2 ?
or
c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE6..??
Can a WS-C3750X-12S coexist in an existing stack made up of a WS-C3750G-12S and a WS-C3750G-24TS?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just loaded the web interface IOS on a C3750X. The first thing I noticed was there was basically no web interface. I can look at things, and do default configurations on ports, but it doesn't appear I can configure VLANs or QoS or anything like that.
Am I missing something, or is this just how the web interface functions?
Is the C3KX-PWR-1100WAC= compatible with the WS-C3750X-24P-S?

We did several times with 12.2.58SE1 and SE2, sometimes the power stack is created automatically, sometimes needs to be configured manually. Looks like the behavior is not the same. Maybe it depends on the number/type of switches and number/type of power supplies.

We have a new backbone in our LAN with two C3750X-24S 15.0(1)SE3. Since we change the model of our equipment we can't update NTP on this two switches.We try to update NTP with two firewall Juniper SSG-140 in version 6.3.0r12.0. The two switchs never arive to associate with firewall (we try with the comme ntp server and ntp peer)
So we configure ntp server on our distribution servers switchs (one 4900 12.2(54)SG and one stack of 3750G and 3750E 12.2(50)SE5). They have no problem to update NTP on the firewal.So we change our configuration ntp server on the backbone and we try to update it with the distributions servers switchs. With the command ntp server it doesn't work. With the commande ntp peer it works but not everytime. The core switchs are in "synchronized" state then "unsynchronized" then "synchronized" etc...When they are in "unsynchronized" state there is "x falseticker" raison behind the IP of the ntp peer.
Is it an IOS version problem on our core switch?

On HP side, i have a Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 530FLR-SFP+ Adapter (without any SFP) and a WS-C3750X-48PF-S + a C3KX-NM-10G= module (without SFP).

I have a problem with dscp preservation on a WS-C3750X-48 catalyst; in my little diagram, his name will be SW2, so I have this:SW1 <-> SW2 <-> RT1. some phone connected to SW1 mark with dscp EF (46) the voice traffic.The "mls qos" was enabled on SW1 and SWt. The interlink switch ports has the "mls qos trust dscp" option, the phone port and the router port also.And the problem is I can see the dscp marking on the SW2 when I span the voice vlan on this switch but the dscp was removed ( DSCP set to 0) on the router port ( span on the router port for look )If I made also a packet capture on the router RT1, I see the DSCP was effectively reset to zero.If I disable the "mls qos" on SW2, of course all is fine and the dscp was preserved and forwarded to the router. On all Cisco pictures the green one seems to be plugged in the upper ports. I asked local Cisco representative, but he seems not to be sure. We tried to try different scenarios, and it looks like it does not matter what cable end we use. We do not have any external power supply, only interconnecting C3750Xs.

I am getting the below error on my new switch though I can’t find out A. why I am getting the error and obviously B. how to resolve said error as I need to ensure I am operating under the letter of the law and compliance. I am having an issue with adding a c3750x switch to an existing switch stack Currently there is 2 x WS-C3750X-48P and I am trying to add another WS-C3750X-48P to this switch I have cabled the switch to the stack using the stack cables and added the command to provision the switch on the exisitng stack. However when I turn the switch on it just goes on its own stack.
I noticed the new switch had a later version of IOS so have downgraded this to the same version as the other switches but still no joy Here is the sh ver from the exisitng stack

We have WS-C3750-24FS switches stacked supporting users on our LAN. I want take advantage of the netflow capabilities of the WS-C3750X using the C3KX-SM-10G card.
Would I be to see netflow data coming from the WS-C3750's if I stacked it with the WS-C3750X?
Also I read that the C3KX-SM-10G card would support a 1G SFP is that correct?
I want to chose the right UPS product for 7 x WS-C3750X-48PF-L in one stack. The Cisco data sheet says 1100W AC, however, I am only connecting 20 IP Phones, each phone will consume around 12.2 Watts.
So in this case, How many watts would I need for the whole 7 switches in the stack ?
in other words, only the first switch in the stack will be connected to 20 IP Phones, but the remaining switches in the stack will be Data Only thought the remaining switches in the stack are capable of delivering a full PoE.

I'm currently trying to diagnose a re-occuring problem with output drops on an uplink interface to a SonicWALL firewall, between 1am - 3am every night we receive alerts that the output drops (discards) counter has incremented.
This time frame happens to be when several network based backups are running so that's probably to blame for the added traffic count but I'm trying to narrow down what's actually dropping the traffic.
The switch hardware is a WS-C3750X-48 running C3750E-UNIVERSALK9-M , 12.2 (55) SE3.
My current thinking is that the output drops are indicative of congestion on the link to the SonicWALL indicating that the SonicWALL unit is incapable of processing the traffic flow fast enough thus causing the congestion and ultimately the output drops on the Gi2/0/48 interface.
According to SonicWALL the unit is rated at 1.5Gbps throughput without UTM services (pure stateful), and no UTM services are enabled.
