Cisco Switching/Routing :: Adding New Switch To Existing C3750x Stack?
Dec 6, 2012I am having an issue with adding a c3750x switch to an existing switch stack Currently there is 2 x WS-C3750X-48P and I am trying to add another WS-C3750X-48P to this switch I have cabled the switch to the stack using the stack cables and added the command to provision the switch on the exisitng stack. However when I turn the switch on it just goes on its own stack.
I noticed the new switch had a later version of IOS so have downgraded this to the same version as the other switches but still no joy Here is the sh ver from the exisitng stack

Oct 26, 2011Any issues are reported while configuring power stack ? We did several times with 12.2.58SE1 and SE2, sometimes the power stack is created automatically, sometimes needs to be configured manually. Looks like the behavior is not the same. Maybe it depends on the number/type of switches and number/type of power supplies.

Oct 26, 2011Does the color strips on C3750X stack power cables mean anything, I mean the green and yellow ones. On all Cisco pictures the green one seems to be plugged in the upper ports. I asked local Cisco representative, but he seems not to be sure. We tried to try different scenarios, and it looks like it does not matter what cable end we use. We do not have any external power supply, only interconnecting C3750Xs.

Would I be to see netflow data coming from the WS-C3750's if I stacked it with the WS-C3750X?
Also I read that the C3KX-SM-10G card would support a 1G SFP is that correct?

Dec 26, 2011Cisco let us try a CISCO C3750X- 24T-S Stack (2 switches) ->> IpBase Sofware licence We've 2 Hyper-v 2008 R2 and one SAN Netapp FAS2040 connected via Iscsi.All was working well with this stacks.Hyper-V see Nas Iscsi interface without problem. Even with basic stack config (no Vlan, ect...).Then, after this test period, we bought a C3750X-24T-L stack (2 switches) to replace the stack lent by Cisco.This one is LanBase Software.
With this stack, hyper-v work very bad ! We've got a lot of Iscsi error in the eventvwr.I can't access luns.So, is there a difference between LanBase and IpBase for a iscsi use ?I put the 24T-S config on the 24T-L switch without pb. So config is the same on both stacks...Also i've got a "TestPortAsicLoopback" = "Failed" on the new stack...I've tried with other stack cables. Not better.

I have changed the universal IOS on the 3750X to IP base..but they still wont come up as a stack. On the 3750X I don't see any log entry, on 3750G (major version mismatch).

There were no logs and no errors in interfaces.Even Cpu utilization was not high. We have enabled arp inspection and dhcp snooping in the switch..Hope this will not make any issue..Also we have dot1x enabled on port..

Nov 17, 2012I configured 3750 A switch with vlan 20 and its IP address 192.168.20.41Its default gateway was 192.168.20.3Then i configured 3750 B switch with same default gateway and vlan 20 IP 192.168.20.43My question is now when we stack it becomes single switch and now vlan 20 ip address is 192.168.20.43 thats only IP i can see.So how does stack switch choose vlan 20 IP?Does it choose highest IP address between two switches if they have same vlan 20 as in my case?Also when i go to switch 3750 b by session command and do sh ip route it does not show ip default gateway .Also it shows vlan 20 as admin down .

Does this also set the image as the boot image or do I still need to issue the boot system flash command?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: CBS 3120X-S Switch Stack Member Down
Mar 4, 2012I have a 3 member CBS3120X-S stack in a HP C7000 enclosure (switches 1, 3, and 5). Switch 1, (the previous stack master) is not showing up in the stack and all the ports are down. Switch 3 has taken over as master, but I don't know what happened to switch 1. The system and stack lights are green and I am not seeing any messages in the log. I reset switch 1 and that did not resove the issue. I disconnected the stack cable and reset the switch again (pulled it out and pushed it back in) and connected to it with a console cable. I get nothing on the console, not even rommon mode. I was connected at the default baud rate that worked when I connected the conole of the other switches in the stack, so I don't think is a serial configuration issue. If this is CBS hardware problem, I don't understand why the system light is green.

Mar 8, 2012I have a 3750X 24 port switch (with NM-1G network module) running IOS 15.0(1). Is there any benefit or reason to plug in the included Stack Wise cable and loop it back to itself in a single switch installation?
I don't see any recommendation in the documentation. The data sheet indicates a single switch is a non-blocking device so I'd think there's no bandwidth advantage like there is when connecting an actual multi-switch stack and needing to close the loop for the full 32 Gbps stack bandwidth.

Jan 6, 2013In the current set up I have a LAN stack of 5 3750 switches configured as an access stack. As per the requirement I need to partition the current 5 switch stack into two individual stacks of 3 & 2 switches respectively. Kindly let me know the step by step process withh all the necessary commands, reloads and reconnections. I purpose to do it by changing the priority of current member switch to 15 so that its elected as Master in the new partitioned switch stack. But not sure what all steps required and in which order.

My question is, which release that should i choose either the 15.0(1) SE3 or the latest 15.0(2)? Will it affect any of my configuration if i change to 15.0(2)?
Finally, what is the best practice to upgrade IOS in a stack whether to upgrade it 1 switch at a time or do it to all at once?
