Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 7K Ignoring Received OSPF Route?
Mar 25, 2013
I have a Catalyst switch that is redistributing some static routes into OSPF. These are received on a Nexus 7K and appear in the database however the 7K does not add them to its routing table, one of the routes is ignored and not added. I haven't got a clue why this is happening.
The routes on the Catalyst are as follows with ID of 172.30.255.22:
ip route 172.24.59.0 255.255.255.0 10.56.7.46
ip route 192.168.168.0 255.255.255.0 10.56.7.62
on the 7K the database shows:
172.24.59.0 172.30.255.22 1374 0x80001a44 0x1a48 0
192.168.168.0 172.30.255.22 1374 0x80001a45 0x6c5b 0
The routing table shows:
sh ip ro 172.24.59.0/24IP Route Table for VRF "default"'*' denotes best ucast next-hop'**' denotes best mcast next-hop'[x/y]' denotes [preference/metric]
172.24.59.0/24, ubest/mbest: 1/0 *via 172.30.253.10, Po7, [110/20], 20w4d, ospf-NCC, type-2

I'm working on a little OSPF setup in my lab and having a problem pinging out to the internet.I have a setup with (3) 3550's running ip routing. I'm configuring OSPF but I can't ping the internet from any L3 switch except the switch with the actual uplink to the internet.[code] From SW2 and SW3, I can ping SW1 on all IPs (192.168.1.90, 10.10.10.1, 10.10.10.5) but I can't ping 192.168.1.1 which is my gateway to the internet.

We have a 14 offfice MPLS network. All offices have Cisco 3750s running OSPF which replicate route tables via our providers BGP peers. I am introducing a new network in our SF office which is not directly connected so in SF we have a static route "ip route 172.16.20.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.100.1. I want our other offices to learn this route route via OSPF so that they know how to get to the new network. My problem is that of course remote sites do not see our static routes and i have tried to add this via ospf but the switch will not propagate this route because it is not directly connected to the switch in SF.

I have 2 Nexus 5596UPs with a layer 3 cards that are exhibiting some very peculiar behavior. The systems are running 5.1(3)N1(1).I have configured 2 VRF contexts each running their own OSPF process. There is a static gateway of last resort configured on each VRF, which is to an upstream pair of 5585X's in Active/Active. Each OSPF process has the "default-information originate always" command configured, however, backbone neighbors are not recieving a gateway of last resort from the 5596UPs. The applicable configurations are show below. All other routing information is passing correctly between devices in the network. This network is not production, it is a proof of concept for a larger implementation.

Does the Nexus 5548/5596 switch support OSPF ECMP?
Also on OSPF and ECMP, the load-balancing method at the multiple links for Catalyst 3750 is per IP packet or per destination IP?

We are cutting over from 6500 IOS to Nexus 7000 and have hit "Maximum ospf feature instance limit reached." as we configured up the 7 existing ospf processes - the limit is 4. These existing processes are for various vrf contexts we have. I see you can run multiple vrf contexts under one process - but how does that work in a mixed environment where the ospf neighbours are still ios 6500s? They still expect to see different ospf process id per vrf.

I'm looking to redistribute static routes in to OSPF on a Nexus 7k. To do this I'll be using a route-map with a match statement. My question is can you match routes using an ACL, a prefic-list or both. The reason that I ask is that in some docs I've read it states the following:
IP access lists—(For policy-based routing only). Match based on source or destination IP address, protocol, or QoS parameters. This tends to indicate that you can't use IP access lists for the match criteria for redistribution.

I have an environment where i have two nexus 7010 switches, along with 2 nexus 5510's. I need to run OSPF as a layer 3 routing protocol between the vpc peer links. I have 1 link being used as a keep alive link, and 3 other links being used as a VpC link.
1) Is it best to configure a separate Vpc VLAN i.e 1010
2) Is it best to configure a vrf context keep-alive
3) just have the management address as the peer ip's.

I have a Nexus 7K router, has 2 ospf process, ospf 1 and ospf2. OSPF1 has several subnets in 10.1.0.0/16 subnet range , OSPF2 has several subnets in 10.2.0.0/16 subnet range. I want to summary OSPF 1 subnets to 10.1.0.0/16 then redistribute to OSPF2.but OSPF 2 didn't receive 10.1.0.0/16. Below is the config

Ok I didn't setup my OSPF on my 7010. Today I found out that any static route I put into my 7010 gets sent into to my MPLS network. My 6509's you have to "Tag" the static rout for this to happen. Was under the impression the same was necessary for the 7010 or at least it had to "match" an access list. How can I fix the below so that by default all static routes are not resdistributed into OSPF?

I'm currently working on a plan to migrate our 6500's over to our new 7010's. At the time of the migration I want to tighten up our OSPF design and configure OSPF for "passive-interface default" then allow only those interfaces that should have OSPF neighbors to send the hellos. The issue is that the command is not showing up under the OSPF process. What's even more interesting is that the Nexus 5.x Unicast Routing Configuration Guide shows that the "passive-interface default" command should be an option to enter.
I'm currently running version 5.1(4) (though looking to upgrade to 5.2 during my migration testing). I would rather configure the passive-interface via the routing process versus having to enter it on every interface.

I have 2 ASBR routers, AGFR01RTR03 and AGFR02RTR03, performing OSPF to OSPF redistribution in both ways for the same ***. They also do summarization for our private addressing scheme. It is all working just fine for that part (neighbors, summarization, redistribution).

I have a really weird issue with my cisco catalyst 3560G.
-device: cisco catalyst 3560g
-ios: 12.2-53(SE) IP SERVICES
scenario: configured IPv6 iBGP link between this switch and a router. the router is announcing 1 (test) route. the switch sees the route properly, but doesn't add it to routing table (the route never gets to be "best path", although it should be).

why a subnet wouldn't be passed on to just one participating OSPF device?
I have two routers and an ASA, all of which are in area 0, it's a pretty simple config. The two routers are connected to some other devices (also in area 0) that pass of an external route to a particular subnet, let's call it 192.168.4.0. The routers are getting it just fine, but the ASA is not:

Looking through the SPROUTE course material they state on several occasions that an ABR will announce a default route in to a standard NSSA area, same as a stub area, because LSA5 external routes are not allowed.

Cisco device is neighbored up with a Brocade device via OSPF, and the desired routes are present. This Brocade device is neighbored up with another Brocade device via OSPF over a GRE tunnel. I am not seeing the desired routes present. What kinds of things can I look at to determine the issue? I think I've viewed the OSPF topology database (I'm not that familiar with Brocade) with the show ip ospf routes command and I'm not seeing the desired routes there either. There is no form of route filtering in place. I'll double check, but I do not believe there is any stub routing going on either.

Our current router is setup to redistribute our BGP routes into OSPF using the following code:
-router ospf 60
-log-adjacency-changes
-redistribute bgp 65199 metric 1500 metric-type 1 subnets
I want to filter down the routes so only a set of specific routes is redistributed.. we have done this in the past with EIGRP by doing a route-map / prefix-list to manage the routes passed into EIGRP.My question is I can replicate the metric and the metric-type in the route-map by doing the following: [code] Do I need to be concerned witht the "subnets" command in this design? What I understand "Subnets".When redistributing routes into OSPF, only routes that are not subnetted are redistributed if the subnets keyword is not specified. I suspect I need to add it! So my final code should look like this..

I have an MPLS router that connects to the core network. This router distributes (per route maps) routes from OSPF into BGP and from BGP into OSPF.The OSPF Process conencts a 6509 to the 7206 MPLS router. There are some routes in the OSPF process that I have filtered out of the 6509. They do not show up inthe 6509 at all and this is the only way they can be getting into the 7206.Checking the 6509 database, this route is gone, but it stays in the 7206 until I clear the route manually. The result is the route still gets distributed into MPLS. [code]
One thing to note, there are two possible OSPF paths the route gets into OSPF, one of them, the route is filtered with distribute-list on the 6509, which means it is still in the database, so it is still in the 7206 database, and still get distributed into BGP on the 7206, correct?

We have Cisco IP phones behind a 2600 series router:Most of the time when the PBX receives a packet from the phone, the source IP of the packet is set to the public IP of the router (1.2.3.4) as expected. However, once in a while, we get packets (at the PBX) with the source IP set to the private IP of the phone (10.0.0.12).The router is configured by our provider, and they can't give us any explanation for this behaviour. Is it safe to assume that PAT is not configured properly at the router?
