I have an MPLS router that connects to the core network. This router distributes (per route maps) routes from OSPF into BGP and from BGP into OSPF.The OSPF Process conencts a 6509 to the 7206 MPLS router. There are some routes in the OSPF process that I have filtered out of the 6509. They do not show up inthe 6509 at all and this is the only way they can be getting into the 7206.Checking the 6509 database, this route is gone, but it stays in the 7206 until I clear the route manually. The result is the route still gets distributed into MPLS. [code]
One thing to note, there are two possible OSPF paths the route gets into OSPF, one of them, the route is filtered with distribute-list on the 6509, which means it is still in the database, so it is still in the 7206 database, and still get distributed into BGP on the 7206, correct?
I have a question about filtering incoming bgp route updates from an internet provider. This provider sends the full internet routing table and default route and on an incoming prefix-filter on the customer switch (C6509-sup720) the default route is only accepted. What happens on the 6509 switch when the BGP peer flaps?Does it need to process all the internet routing updates, and if yes probably it cannot handle all these updates? What happens with the CEF table, will the switch install the routes first?
I have 2 ASBR routers, AGFR01RTR03 and AGFR02RTR03, performing OSPF to OSPF redistribution in both ways for the same ***. They also do summarization for our private addressing scheme. It is all working just fine for that part (neighbors, summarization, redistribution).
Let's focus on AGDC01RTR01 with a specific entry here (IP subnet is fake) :
Routing entry for 1.1.1.0/25 Known via "ospf 1000", distance 110, metric 300, type inter area Last update from 10.2.244.76 on GigabitEthernet5/1, 1d03h ago Routing Descriptor Blocks: * 10.2.244.76, from 10.2.1.249, 1d03h ago, via GigabitEthernet5/1 Route metric is 300, traffic share count is 1
why a subnet wouldn't be passed on to just one participating OSPF device?
I have two routers and an ASA, all of which are in area 0, it's a pretty simple config. The two routers are connected to some other devices (also in area 0) that pass of an external route to a particular subnet, let's call it 192.168.4.0. The routers are getting it just fine, but the ASA is not:
We have Cisco 1921 routers that a provider is using for MPLS. They have it configured so that all internet trafic is passed to an internal ip address that is our proxy server. However, they are pushing all of the routing rules down to the workstation which is causing the local route tables to grow to be massive in a very short time.
For example, the second I ping a website, the ip address is resolved and then the route is added for the source ip address with the default gateway of the proxy server.
Is this normal? I would have thought that all the rules would have been handled by the router and let it keep the table entries.
Looking through the SPROUTE course material they state on several occasions that an ABR will announce a default route in to a standard NSSA area, same as a stub area, because LSA5 external routes are not allowed.
Cisco device is neighbored up with a Brocade device via OSPF, and the desired routes are present. This Brocade device is neighbored up with another Brocade device via OSPF over a GRE tunnel. I am not seeing the desired routes present. What kinds of things can I look at to determine the issue? I think I've viewed the OSPF topology database (I'm not that familiar with Brocade) with the show ip ospf routes command and I'm not seeing the desired routes there either. There is no form of route filtering in place. I'll double check, but I do not believe there is any stub routing going on either.
I want to filter down the routes so only a set of specific routes is redistributed.. we have done this in the past with EIGRP by doing a route-map / prefix-list to manage the routes passed into EIGRP.My question is I can replicate the metric and the metric-type in the route-map by doing the following: [code] Do I need to be concerned witht the "subnets" command in this design? What I understand "Subnets".When redistributing routes into OSPF, only routes that are not subnetted are redistributed if the subnets keyword is not specified. I suspect I need to add it! So my final code should look like this..
I m using ospf between HO and Branches for two links. branch router are 2811 and HO router 3845. when i enable ospf at branch i get all branch route like HO router and a default route. My requirement is each branch get only HO but no other branch. I have no default route.
I attached show ip route status for a branch router.. Why default route comes and why all branch's route come ?
I cannot receive any OSPF route from Nexus to ASR1002 even they are both OSPF neighbour. I have attached the config for both, Both Nexus and ASR part of Area0.
Config ASR1002#sh ip ospf neighbor Neighbor ID Pri State Dead Time Address Interface10.165.117.12 1 FULL/BDR 00:00:35 10.231.175.226 GigabitEthernet0/0/0
I have one Cisco router 3845 and one switch 6509, they have two links connected each other via OSPF, I want to have link 1 as high priority, and link 2 as low priority. When the link 1 is down, it can be kicked in to the link 2. How I can implement this setup.
I have a Cisco 2620XM Router, running ver. 12.2 (7r). I have OSPF connected, however the OSPF routes are not populating in the sh ip route display. The neighbor relationship is established. The sh ip ospf database does display the other routers running ospf, however only connected (C) and static (S) routes appear.
I'm working on a little OSPF setup in my lab and having a problem pinging out to the internet.I have a setup with (3) 3550's running ip routing. I'm configuring OSPF but I can't ping the internet from any L3 switch except the switch with the actual uplink to the internet.[code] From SW2 and SW3, I can ping SW1 on all IPs (192.168.1.90, 10.10.10.1, 10.10.10.5) but I can't ping 192.168.1.1 which is my gateway to the internet.
I am attempting to filter a specific host(s) from my OSPF routiing table on a ASA 5550 (ABR) using LSA prefix lists. However, when I look at the other routers in that area, I notice that ALL LSA type-3's are being removed (10 hosts are now missing from the routing table). I have verified the filter is working on the ABR, but I can't figure why ALL hosts/routes that were coming into the area are now being filtered instead of the specific one that I want to filter out.
Here is the config on the ABR:
prefix-list pdm_pl_000 seq 10 permit 206.253.180.137/32 ! ! router ospf 1 network 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 area 0 network 10.150.10.0 255.255.255.0 area 10 network 10.150.252.0 255.255.255.224 area 10
[code]....
The 206.253.180.137 host is actually coming from Area '3'. Am I doing something that is removing all type-3 LSA's?
On the 6509, with normal 67xx cards installed, where is all the mac table held, is it held on the card itself or on the supervisor? And if I use dcef cards, I gather the MSFC copies the mac table to the DFC ?
If i look at the Feature Navigator , it says that IP Base Supports OSPF and EIGRP. But if i look at the Cisco Link it contradicts the Cisco Feature Navigator.

if I have 6509-E with VSS-SUP720-10G and want to run OSPF and BGP on the Switch. What is the IOS i require? WIll IP Base Suffice or i need to take Advance or Enterprise Image.
We have a 14 offfice MPLS network. All offices have Cisco 3750s running OSPF which replicate route tables via our providers BGP peers. I am introducing a new network in our SF office which is not directly connected so in SF we have a static route "ip route 172.16.20.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.100.1. I want our other offices to learn this route route via OSPF so that they know how to get to the new network. My problem is that of course remote sites do not see our static routes and i have tried to add this via ospf but the switch will not propagate this route because it is not directly connected to the switch in SF.

Have a 1921 that has 3 eth connections (1 LAN, and 2 WAN) - I have 2 seperate OSPF processes (2 areas) on the WAN Ints - both upstream WAN's are sending defaults back to the 1921, and the 1921 is sending it's LAN range to them.
I have ip ospf cost 150 set on the "failover" WAN connection interface (Both on the 1921 and upstream), but the 1921 is preferring the default route from the "failover"?
The default routes are both being received by the 1921, but it's preferring the "failover" Int with the ip ospf cost 150 configured?
I have a Catalyst switch that is redistributing some static routes into OSPF. These are received on a Nexus 7K and appear in the database however the 7K does not add them to its routing table, one of the routes is ignored and not added. I haven't got a clue why this is happening.
The routes on the Catalyst are as follows with ID of 172.30.255.22:
ip route 172.24.59.0 255.255.255.0 10.56.7.46 ip route 192.168.168.0 255.255.255.0 10.56.7.62

our backbone (6509) is connected to atm backbone (nortel passport) those are connected through giga Ethernet interface and running ospf in area 0. One week ago we lost the ip connectivity between those backbones, the interfaces were in up but the neighbor relation fail and it was kept in LOADING STATE, according we the logs the neighbor relation fail because a BAD LSA was received (error messages %OSPF-4-ERRRCV:Bad LSU adv and %OSPF-4-BADLSATYPE:Invalid lsa:Bad LSA chksum Type 5 were received during the outage)We check in cisco and this is quite normal behavior if we receive a bad LSA but the customer is asking why we have the same error message for long time and we didn't lost the neighbor relationship.
how many bad lsa we can receive before to lost the neighbor relationship. We receive two errors messages for bag lsa.. [code]
I know that WRTP54G is a voip device, but it is router as well and my problem is related to routing part.I cannot access public internet servers with IP in subnet 2.0.0.0 / 8 and 1.0.0.0 / 8. In the 2.0.0.0 / 8 subnet are some akamai cdn servers (yes, the fbcdn .After some time I've found, that routing table in wrtp54g contains also entries:
which cannot be deleted. It looks like someone wanted to filter dark space when the router was developed. Is there any way, to get rid of it? I've restored to factory defaults, no change. Firmware version is 3.1.27.ETSI
If we have catos 6509 and MSFC and we need to connect new building with L3 I want to Do static route between two network i need to but ip in interface of switch should I but this ip on catos or MSFC,
Switch(config)# interface fastethernet 2/1 Switch(config-if)# ip address x.x.x.x x.x.x.x
In catos if want want do like above command what is the command .
My network has two connections to a third party via links on two seperate ASA , one in location A and one in location B. The link in location A is the primary connection and the other in location B should be used by only two terminals (term1, term2) in location B. ASA are running OSPF and are redistributing static routes as metric-type 1 in OSPF. In order to achive the aforementioned goal, I have configured a route-map on ASA location B, that sets the metric for the route towards the third party to a high value (100). This way, all routers, even those in site B prefer the exit through location A (metric about 24).
I have checked that my routers correctly have the route to the 3rd party through location A, and the OSPF database has records for the network from both locations. In location B, I have configured the following route-map (on 6509)
route-map PREFER-LOCAL-ROUTER permit 10 match ip address XXX set ip next hop locationB-ASA int vlanYYYY ip policy route-map PREFER-LOCAL-ROUTER
[code]....
From the terminals (term1 and term2) I have tried a traceroute towards the 3rd party's subnet, but I don't get any match neither on the access-list nor on the route-map. Unfortunately I have no other way to test that my configuration is correct, since the application on the terminals, that should access the 3rd party network, is not currently running.
I also addedd the statements below to the access-list, because of the test with tracert: permit icmp host term1 route_to_3rd_party 0.0.255.255 permit icmp host term2 route_to_3rd_party 0.0.255.255
Nothing changed...Is there something wrong with the above config? Is there a chance that there is a problem with the IOS, that simply doesn't show any hits?
Right now I have 2 default routes load balancing 100MB internet links. This is on my 2 6509's.
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.47.2.1 (FWSM) ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.47.2.250 (5510)
Is there anyway to make the first default route take more of the traffic, like 60/40 or 70/30?Any program that I could use to see top users going through the FWSM?
i'm already has one internet connection is connecting directly to the Core Switch 6509,Vlan 500 (1921.168.1.0) and the Switch is route any internet request with default route:
SW6509-conf)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.170.10.10 10.170.10.10 is --> Next hop for the DSL router internal IP, and it's working fine.
The Problem: We have a new internet connection with new Vlan 600 (172.16.1.0) another ISP/ with another DSL router, so i need your kindly support and suggest how to connect both of them to exit from the Core Switch 6509. is it ok if i make another default route to the Next hop to the new DSL router as:
SW6509-conf)# ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.80.10.10 10.80.10.10 is --> Next hop for the new DSL router internal IP.
is there any way like default route , route-map or any other features to :
route Vlan 500 (192.168.1.0) to exit from DSL 1 --> 10.170.10.10 route Vlan 600 (172.16.1.0) to exit from DSL 2 --> 10.80.10.10
Last week we had some forwarding issues with our cat 6509e VSS pair, wherby clients could ping the gateway but couldnt route through it! we identified this as being core 2 in the vss pair, yesterday we rebooted the 2nd switch and now the issue has been resolved.
In datasheet of WS-SUP720-3B - link- was said that are only supported around 256K routes (fib?rib?).With this value I can't get 2 full bgp - that is around 850K ..
The supervisor is that control this or just memory ? I said this because I have a 7204-npe-g1 whith 2 fullrouting and 1G of and he are ok..
Currently the OSPF network consist of 2 segment route via static route. One is AREA 0 and another AREA 10.Both network are seperate entity, only static route to route between 2 networks. But the static route do not provide the dynamically and flexibility, I plan to run routing between 2 networks via VLAN160 and VLAN162.
I still want to manitnace it was 2 different OSPFrouting domain. Can I run OSPF with differrent OSPF porcess ID?
In one of my 2911's I have a VWIC3-4MFT-T1/E1 that terminates two pri circuit.s0/0/0:23 and s0/0/1:23 are in a trunk group. I've noticed that if the PRI flaps/bounces and comes back up, controller 0/0/1 and serial 0/0/1 stay down.Controller 0/0/0 and serial 0/0/0 always come back up. I have to restart the gateway everytime for 0/0/1 to come up. Thoughts? Interface config is below.
3502i's LED light turn white? Ifso, what does it mean? The info on the LED lights does not mention white. The serial port and the data port are non responsive, but the unit stays powered over PoE.
I am ignorant with networking. The most I know is /ipconfig.I am stationed in Japan and have a fiber modem going into my DIR-655. For about two years everything has been fine...no problems ever.About a month ago, I started getting timeouts and page not found errors when surfing the web, but my online games (EVE, WoW, etc) and our Xbox360/PS3 work fine. The only thing I could think was to unplug and plug back the DIR-655. Sometimes that works for a day or a week, but ultimately it always comes back. Is there a setting on the router I can change to avoid this, or a software command I can issue from the computer to clear something?
So I went to update the firmware on my SA520 last night and aparently something failed, the device restarted and now it doesn't respond to anything. The Diag light stays light and the factory reset button does nothing no matter how long I hold it in. Is there another way to reset the device?
