Cisco :: 3502i - Unit Stays Powered Over PoE?

3502i's LED light turn white?  Ifso, what does it mean?  The info on the LED lights does not mention white.  The serial port and the data port are non responsive, but the unit stays powered over PoE.

D-Link DIR-825 :: Stays On Without Power Cord When Powered USB Hub Is Connected

Mar 6, 2012

My DIR-825 stays on even when I flick the power switch, for as long as I don't disconnect the externally powered Belkin USB hub from it. Some lights do come off, Internet light turns orange, but it stays on. If I disconnect the hub before trying to shut down the router, it turns off instantly.

I feel slightly worried by this because as far as I am aware, a USB client device shouldn't be feeding power to the host. On the other hand, the host shouldn't be accepting power from the client either.

Also, sometimes after days since last reboot, the USB light on the router is not on despite connected devices, and they may or may not appear in Shareport.

Cisco Switches :: How Many AP Can Be Powered By SRW224G4P

Jun 7, 2011

I have a question on 300 series PoE switch (SRW224G4P, power budget: 180W). How many WAP 4410N can be powered by this switch??How many AP 1242 can be powered by this switch? Since CDP is not supported yet, I think switch will provide 15.4W power for each AP. So each switch can power up to 11 WAP4410N or AP 1242. Is this correct??

One other quesiton is When CDP is supported, can I calculate as below? WAP4410N (Power draw:10.1W): 180/10.1W = 17.xx -> Up to 17 WAP4410N can be powerd AP1242 (Power draw:12.4W): 180/12.4W = 14.xx -> Up to 14 WAP4410N can be powerd

Cisco Wireless :: WAP4410N Will Not Stay Powered On 3550 PoE

Oct 13, 2010

I have a WAP4410N new out of the box will not stay powered on any of our three 3550 24 port PoE switches running 12.2(25) ipservicesk9-M EMI. The WAP4410N is running the 2.0.3.3 firmware. Unfortunately the AP is the only PoE device I have at my disposal. The device will power on, the link will come up on the switch but after ~5 seconds the power light then the PoE light on the WAP4410N turns off and the device reboots and continues this cycle. The WAP4410N operates normally when plugged in with the included power adapter, but I need to use this as a PoE device.

Wake On Lan From Powered Off State Evga 680i

Jul 15, 2011

I'm having trouble getting my evga 680i to wake on lan from a powered off state. I've done it before but for some reason now it doesn't seem to work. I have formatted since the last time I used wake on lan.

I've got all the settings right in the bios and everything. WOL is enabled in the networking properties on the adapter and in the bios. I can wake from a sleep or hibernate state - just not powered off. Using a WOL test client it confirms it is receiving the magic packet.

When my comp is off I dont see the network port light up with the LEDs. I imagine this has something to do with it -- i just dont know what had to go to power management on the configure tab of my network adapter and uncheck the box "allow windows to power off this device to save power" even though I also had under that checkbox "allow wake on lan" checked.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Web Surfing Shuts Down / Everything Else Stays OK

Aug 27, 2011

I am ignorant with networking.  The most I know is /ipconfig.I am stationed in Japan and have a fiber modem going into my DIR-655.  For about two years everything has been fine...no problems ever.About a month ago, I started getting timeouts and page not found errors when surfing the web, but my online games (EVE, WoW, etc) and our Xbox360/PS3 work fine.  The only thing I could think was to unplug and plug back the DIR-655.  Sometimes that works for a day or a week, but ultimately it always comes back. Is there a setting on the router I can change to avoid this, or a software command I can issue from the computer to clear something?

Cisco Switches :: SG300 Stacking And Powered From POE By Upstream Switch?

Sep 11, 2012

I discovered on a pair of SG300-28P.

On a second switch (ver 1.2.7.76) when I unplugged the power cord, to my amazement the switch turned right back on (about 1 second later), with the power cord removed. To verify that the power is indeed coming from POE, the upstream switch (ver 1.1.2.0) that is the same model (sg-300-28p), shows all 7 Ethernet ports connecting the two drawing from 2700mW, to 3000mW.

While the second switch is powered from the first over POE, the POE does not work on the second switch to power anything, and the system summary mentions something about "PoE Power Information on Master Unit".

Is this a stacking operation, and is POE on the second switch NOT supposed to work when powered over Ethernet from an upstream switch?

Cisco WAN :: 6509 OSPF Stays In Route Table

Apr 5, 2012

I have an MPLS router that connects to the core network. This router distributes (per route maps) routes from OSPF into BGP and from BGP into OSPF.The OSPF Process conencts a 6509 to the 7206 MPLS router. There are some routes in the OSPF process that I have filtered out of the 6509. They do not show up inthe 6509 at all and this is the only way they can be getting into the 7206.Checking the 6509 database, this route is gone, but it stays in the 7206 until I clear the route manually. The result is the route still gets distributed into MPLS. [code]

One thing to note, there are two possible OSPF paths the route gets into OSPF, one of them, the route is filtered with distribute-list on the 6509, which means it is still in the database, so it is still in the 7206 database, and still get distributed into BGP on the 7206, correct?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200 Powered On But Can't Connect

Feb 19, 2013

I've had this router for just over a year now so the warranty is out and it just so happened to stop functioning last night. I'm fairly decent in the router world since I am studying for my CCNA, so I have tried just about anything imaginable. I woke up this morning with no connection, checked the modem, then the router. The router was powered on, but the up/downstream lights were not doing a thing. The modem is not the issue (I am hardwired as of now). I have tried both resets, including unplugging the device, and still can't get a response out of it. The logo light will turn straight on (no fad in and out like it's suppose to) and then it does absolutely nothing.  I have never encountered this sort of problem on a home router before. I can't login to the router either.

So, I have to disconnect everything, bring the 1522 back to my main PC, attach it, let it connect properly, then unattach and re-attach at it's use site.

LAN Disconnects Randomly Router Stays Connected?

Jan 18, 2012

Issue: Working on the internet, my computer (LAN) disconnects, Laptop (WAN) disconnects, but the router does not disconnect. The light that shows connection to net flashes like crazy (showing ADHD *** activity), the network lights just stay stable (showing no activity). After 5-10 minutes the problem sometimes fixes itself, or, more likely, I unplug the router, wait 2 minutes, plug it back in. Sometimes it works right away, sometimes it takes a second unplug. My computer is wired to the router which connects to a modem. The modem is not mine, its installed by my ISP.

Failed attempts to fix:Replace router. Bought brand new Netgear (will put numbers in here later) to replace the Dir-825.Same issues. In fear of malware, spyware, etc (I run a tight ship on my computer, I love it dearly and I'm mildly paranoid), I formatted the SSD, reinstalled Windows 7 64bit. Same issues. My ISP has to authorize every connection, so I've used the router to use my Mac Address and I can connect with the cable directly in the back of the computer, or to the router

Linksys Wrt54g - Wifi Stays Connected But Internet Does Not?

Jul 19, 2011

I have an Asus U31JG with WIndows 7 64-bit. This laptop is a month old to me and the wireless has been acting up since the day I got it, will explain below. I believe my home network is the problem. I have a Linksys WRT54G with WPA Personal encryption. Multiple times a day my internet quits working even though Windows says it has full connection to my router. To fix this, I open command prompt and use "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew". This fixes the problem for me, it may be a minute or a few hours. The problem is very intermittent and only happens at my home which is why I believe it is my network. However, I changed the wireless channel to 1, the only one around on that channel and tried different security settings. My WiFi works flawlessly if I take my laptop to my friends house where he has a Netgear router. I have also tried a brand new Cisco Router as well as a Netgear router at my house.

I've re installed the driver twice, and the same problem persists in Linux only I just have to disable/enable wireless.

Note: When the internet quits working on my laptop it works on other devices so it is not the internet connection causing this. And my internet is very slow when it is working on my laptop via wireless.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt110 Loss Of Wired Network When Powered On?

Nov 9, 2011

My wrt110 firmware .05 has been working fine until now. I have a couple of phones, 2 printers, 3 laptops and a wii happily connecting to it. However now when I power on the wireless device, nothing can connect wirelessly. Wired connection is fine, but my wireless network disappears. No device can find the network, although it is there and set up on the admin pages. I pull the power chord out for 30 seconds and try again to get it going again, a bit like trying to start a car. Everntually devices find the network.

On two occasions it has forgotten the wireless settings and restored an open 'linksys' network. It's really infuriating becuase whilst I restore the SSID and use the same key, not all the devices actually recognise it and have to be reconfigured on the devices.

D-Link DIR-655 :: New Laptop Looses Internet But Stays Connected To Wireless

May 14, 2013

I have a DIR-655 Rev B1, FW 2.01 (I will probably upgrade the FW tonight to the latest.)

I have at least 20 items that connect wirelessly to this router (2 PCs, 2 Laptops, 2 Tivo Box, 3 Game Consoles, 3 Cell Phones, 2 Tablets, 2 TVs, Printer, AP Gateway, and some other projects)  It's been a solid connection to everything for the past couple of years.

I bought a new Dell Inspiron 15r SE laptop (uses the Intel Centrion Wireless-N 2230 Wifi Solution.)  After anywhere from 2 - 10 mins of browsing/watching a video/downloading files the access out to the internet simply stops.

At this point I'm still connected wirelessly to the router, and if I go to the router address I still have access and can login and see the router settings.  I check and there's plenty of time left on the lease (days.)  Still not getting internet access.  Eventually my Laptop will disconnect and reconnect (or I do it manually.)  I've performed hard resets of the router, I've had my laptop Forget the network and then reconnect, etc.  Nothing has resolved it.

I thought it may be my laptop, but I've taken it to Starbuck, Work, Neighbors WiFi, etc and I don't have any problems staying connected on their networks.

I've had Dell on the line, we connected hardwired, and there solution was to force forget and reconnect to the router, which worked for the 10min he was on the line with me, but then failed soon after, and back in the same connectivity hell

Cisco :: 3502I Not Getting Ip Address

Jan 27, 2013

I just deployed 2 brand new 3502I access points.  Ap's are connected to a PoE module on a 4507.  Ap's are powering up.  The 4507 is configured to hand out ip addresses to the ap's.  When I run 'sh cdp nei det', I can see the ap's but they do not have an ip address assignment.  Another weird thing is in the output of the command, each ap has two entries.  One entry shows gigabit0 and the other gigabit0.1.  I have never seen this before.  I dont know if this in some way is why the ap's are not getting an ip address.  I have 40 other 3502I from 2 yrs ago and no problem.  The IOS of the new ap's is 15.2.

I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Connection Speed On Device Stays 72BPS

Apr 8, 2012

I did some testing with a few wireless N routers and then decided to buy a Linksys e 2500 as it was on a special for $66 in Australia. The wireless routers i tested were (Belkin brand new model / Netcomm & Dlink Used ones)1. Netcomm N800n Fastest wireless transfer speed 9MBytes or 72 MBPS.2. Dlink - Around 6MBytes/s or 48MBPS.3. Belkin - Around 4-5 MBytes/secDid not test the Linksys before buying it.4. Linksys E 2500 - around 5MBytes/s = 40MBPS.After all this testing, got a new Linksys believing that a cisco device should have good quality. My problems is that the connection speed on the device stays a 72BPS whereas on the Netcomm / D-link it used to be 130mbps. Not that this bothers me, however the file transfer speed matches the Link status connection speed. The router was placed at exactly the same location, file transfer was checked by transferring large file sizes.Lan setup is1. Belkin ADSL 2+ (Modem with Wireless b/g and Voip) only being used now as an ADSL Modem and VOIP service.2. Cisco linksys e 2500.3. Media centre PC which has a wired connection to linksys e 2500.4. Main PC (Connected wireless to the linksys). The network adapter is a DLINK DWA125 N150 adapter (2.4GHZ only). The distance between the wireless adapter and the wireless router is approximately 12 feet and there is direct line of sight.5. IPAD.5. Using 2.4GHZ as i dont have a 5GHZ adapter yet. Router is only on wireless N mode.I was better off using a second hand Netcomm rather than a brand new Cisco router. The cisco router has 4 internal antennas, whereas the netcomm one had only 2 external antennas. My signal strength is excellent. Only problem is the slow internal transfer between the Main PC and the Media Center PC. Main PC is Core i7 950 where as the Media Centre is a Core 2 Duo e6400GHZ with 4GB Ram. Both PCs running Windows 7 Ultimate (Main PC) , Professional (Media Centre PC). My network knowledge is decent.  Is there any settings in the advanced Wireless mode for the Linksys that can make my internal file transfers faster. [code]

Cisco Wireless :: 3502i LED Not Remaining Lit?

Oct 17, 2012

I am in the process of deploying 3502i APs. This site has 2 - 5508 WLCs both running Software version 7.0.220.0 and 2 - 4402 WLCs both running the same version of software as the 5508s. All of the APs that I have installed so far have joined the controller and I can associate to them and access the network. When the APs first are connected to the switch they go through the 'normal' boot up with the LED changing colors - white, red, green, blue (not necessarily in that order). Once the AP has completed its boot sequence the LED goes out and remains NOT lit.

This is happening to most but not all of the APs. This is the first time I have deployed 3502s - previous experience is with 1142s and 1242s and the LED does not do this with them.

I can, through the CLI, turn the LED on but it is then ALWAYS blue, even if a device is NOT associated to it.

I do not want to leave them off because the account will believe they have a 'dead' AP and with them always blue they cannot properly troubleshoot using the LED.
