I'm trying to hook up a dap-1522 to an SMC8014WG wireless router. All goes well for about 10 minutes then the SMC drops all wireless connections except the connection to the 1522, and loses internet connectivity.There are several other wireless devices connected to the SMC but none of them causes it to go down.
View 6 RepliesI have just upgraded my network to the 802.11n standard, or at least am trying to do that. Im using a DIR-615 as Access Point and a DAP-1522 as bridge to cover the entire area.After having some trouble figuring out how to set up and connect the devices, i figure out that it might some other problem than my setup of the devices (The symptom was that the connection was ok, but then it seemed to be dropped, even though the DAP-1522 still displayed connected in the status page).
After reading what I could find about the DIR-615 and DAP-1522 in this forum and on the internet, I found a suggestion about changing the Wireless Mode from 802.11b/g/n to 802.11b/g, and after doing that everything works fine, its just not an upgrade anymore.I have fixed the channel to 10, just to check that it wasnt noise from other equipment. The symptoms are very reproducable, trying to connect wiin n-mode and bridge only works for 30-60 secs. Switching back to b/G mode and all is fine.
I have a DIR-655 set up as follows: [code] Lost Internet Access on my DAP-1522 on only my wireless laptop connection, but not other wireless nodes on the DAP-1522.I have most of my wireless nodes attached to the DIR-655, which is upstairs. Downstairs is where the DAP-1522 is located. There is a wired connection between the DIR-655 and DAP-1522. The DAP-1522 is being used as a Access Point. On this I have only three nodes that are wireless. My Smartphone, iPad and my laptop. There are also three nodes that are using the wired ports with no issue accessing the internet. The setup above have being working for over two years with no issue. Then three days ago my laptop connects to the DAP-1522, but has "No Internet Access." If I change my wireless connection to the DIR-655 on my laptop, then I do have internet connection. My Smartphone and iPad still are able to access the DAP-1522 and get the internet.
I have deleted my DHCP Reservation for only my laptop on the DIR-655. Wireless connection to the DAP-1522, looked at the DIR-655 and see that DHCP Reservation show the MAC of the laptop and I Reserve it. Still "No Internet Access." On the DAP-1522 it does show that my laptop is associated to this device. I cannot ping my local LAN IP Addresses , a website or Public IP Address only from the laptop. The DIR-655 shows a "Do Not Enter: Wireless system with MAC address 4025C2B97110 disconnected for reason: Received Deauthentication" with a connection to the DAP-1522, but shows "Do Not Enter: Wireless system with MAC address 4025C2B97110 secured and linked" with a connection to the DIR-655.
I have a defective DAP-1522, or what. First off, I have never been able to access the unit at http://DLINKAP when my computer is connected directly to the 1522 via ethernet, only 192.168.0.50 works to bring up the web interface.
Second, I have more than one AP at my house, but the DAP-1522 is the only networking device I have have problems with (I am using the unit in AP mode). Basically, the problem is the wireless connection usually is much slower than my other APs (both N and G), even when the computer is physically right next to the DAP-1522. And that's when the unit is at it's best. At it's worst, I can't connect to the internet at all, even though my laptop shows full signal strength. The 1522 just seems really finicky. The problem doesn't seem to be a networking issue, because a 2nd AP that is connected through the wired portion of the DAP-1522 works perfectly, implying the 1522 is having no networking issues when using the ethernet ports. But since the problems persist with full signal strength and with the computer right next to the 1522, it doesn't seem to be a wireless connection issue either. And I have no problems connecting to any other wireless APs I own (and I own about 5 others, not that I use them all at the same time).
If I could, I would return my 1522, but I've been tinkering with it for too long now to return it. It has caused me a ton of frustration. I had a wired-only router for a long time (hence the purchase of the 1522), but just bought a new wireless-N router that is performing perfectly (as a router, and as an N AP). I hoped the old router might have not been playing nice with the 1522, but have seen no improvement with the 1522 wired to the new router (on opposite ends of my home).
Note that I use Macs only, no Windows machines. I started with the 1.02 firmware for the 1522, now have 1.20 firmware, but have noticed no improvements with my issues.
It took a while but I've had my 1522 running well for several days. However, if I power down and then power up the 1522, it never reconnects. The bridge mode light flashes 5 times, then - nothing.
So, I have to disconnect everything, bring the 1522 back to my main PC, attach it, let it connect properly, then unattach and re-attach at it's use site.
(I'm using a static IP address and a Cisco E3000 router working perfectly with all my other stuff. Firmware v1.31)
I currently have a DAP1522 in Bridge mode with a DIR655. I am only using the 2.4GHz G mode on my 655. In a few days I will be replacing the 655 with an 825. When I log into the 1522 I don't see any settings for Mode, Frequency or Width (while in Bridge mode). The page for wireless setup is blank except for the "Save Settings" button. When I look at the 655, it appears that the 1522 is connected (bridged) at 2.4 GHz G like I would expect. So, when I install the 825 how do I make it connect at 5GHz N or will that be automatic if my SSID on the N mode of the 825 matches SSID on the 1522?

Now when I go to change the connection type to dynamic ip and save, it reverts back to static ip, which makes this thing useless for my network. Why won't it save?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new DAP-1522 A1 connected to an 802.11n wireless LAN in bridge mode. Running in the 2.4GHz band with WPK-2 and AES security/encryption.Everything runs fine 99% of the time, but once a day or so the wireless LAN connection on the DAP-1522 drops and then takes about two minutes to re-connect. It re-connects and then everything is fine for a day or so until the next dropped wireless connection episode on the DAP-1522. I know my 802.11n wireless network is 100% fine as during the dropped connection to the DAP-1522 I can connect directly to the 802.11n wireless network (running from my gateway/router) using my other computer, no issues.I've seen some posts on this forum that the A1 version of the DAP-1522 hardware is not 100% compatible with the 802.11n network standard and there will be intermittent wireless drops. If this is true, it's just insane. All I can say is I can't believe DLink would allow a product to be sold that won't work properly on 802.11n networks.I check the logs each time I see the dropped wireless connection and all that shows is the following.1) Negotiating connection 2) 4-way handshake success [mac address]There's no message in the logs about why the wireless connection dropped, but I assume it has something to do with re-newing a key for the wireless network as the successful key renewal messages are the only other messages in the log. When the wireless network dropped I don't see the successful key renewal message at the time I should see it.I thought this DAP-1522 would take 15 minutes to configure in bridge mode and then I'd forget about it. Spend too much time on this already, so a bit disappointed with this DAP-1522 and DLink tech support....though when it's connected to the 802.11n wireless LAN it works fine.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a DIR-615, hardware version: C1, firmware version 3.12NA and my issue is that it keeps dropping my VPN connection after 12 minutes. Sometimes it'll go longer than 12 minutes but on average right at 12 minutes of my connection, it drops. This happens whether I'm using the wireless or hard wired to the router. As a test, I ran a continuous ping on a computer on my internal network and also to a computer on my corporate network. When I'm VPN'd in, both pings are successful. Once the router kills my VPN session, the pings to my internal network are successful. So the router isn't rebooting or anything like that. My VPN session will automatically reconnect, but I'm stumped.

Days later started experiencing problems, connection would drop, and only way to restore connection was to reset the router.It has its password configured, a secure wireless connection also configured, and Wan Ping is disabled.Yesterday I called D-Link support, and they asked me to update firmware (from 2.03 to 2.05). I have it configured in the virtual servers list as; internal system ip, public port/private port both 23, protocal tcp with inbound filter, allow all and schedule set to always. I have a second system with a different public port. I can connect to either one but after a short amount of idle time it appears to just drop the connection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am ignorant with networking. The most I know is /ipconfig.I am stationed in Japan and have a fiber modem going into my DIR-655. For about two years everything has been fine...no problems ever.About a month ago, I started getting timeouts and page not found errors when surfing the web, but my online games (EVE, WoW, etc) and our Xbox360/PS3 work fine. The only thing I could think was to unplug and plug back the DIR-655. Sometimes that works for a day or a week, but ultimately it always comes back. Is there a setting on the router I can change to avoid this, or a software command I can issue from the computer to clear something?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy DIR-825 stays on even when I flick the power switch, for as long as I don't disconnect the externally powered Belkin USB hub from it. Some lights do come off, Internet light turns orange, but it stays on. If I disconnect the hub before trying to shut down the router, it turns off instantly.
I feel slightly worried by this because as far as I am aware, a USB client device shouldn't be feeding power to the host. On the other hand, the host shouldn't be accepting power from the client either.
Also, sometimes after days since last reboot, the USB light on the router is not on despite connected devices, and they may or may not appear in Shareport.
I have a DIR-655 Rev B1, FW 2.01 (I will probably upgrade the FW tonight to the latest.)
I have at least 20 items that connect wirelessly to this router (2 PCs, 2 Laptops, 2 Tivo Box, 3 Game Consoles, 3 Cell Phones, 2 Tablets, 2 TVs, Printer, AP Gateway, and some other projects) It's been a solid connection to everything for the past couple of years.
I bought a new Dell Inspiron 15r SE laptop (uses the Intel Centrion Wireless-N 2230 Wifi Solution.) After anywhere from 2 - 10 mins of browsing/watching a video/downloading files the access out to the internet simply stops.
At this point I'm still connected wirelessly to the router, and if I go to the router address I still have access and can login and see the router settings. I check and there's plenty of time left on the lease (days.) Still not getting internet access. Eventually my Laptop will disconnect and reconnect (or I do it manually.) I've performed hard resets of the router, I've had my laptop Forget the network and then reconnect, etc. Nothing has resolved it.
I thought it may be my laptop, but I've taken it to Starbuck, Work, Neighbors WiFi, etc and I don't have any problems staying connected on their networks.
I've had Dell on the line, we connected hardwired, and there solution was to force forget and reconnect to the router, which worked for the 10min he was on the line with me, but then failed soon after, and back in the same connectivity hell
I have Comcast cable internet routed through a linksys E3000 router. My desktop is connected to my router via ethernet and my various other devices including my laptop are wifi connected. It seems almost at random that my desktop will lose its connection.Windows will show me as still being connected and my network connection will show a normal status until I atttempt to repair it then it will change to limited or no connectivity. Through all of this, my other devices all still have a wifi signal (I don't use more than 1 or 2 at the same time). I can reconnect to the internet by unplugging my ethernet cable then reuplugging it back in and my connection will start working again. I've also had several blue screens, and when I checked the dmp files it revealed my network card driver as the culprit, yet I have reinstalled and even clean installed the microsoft signed driver. I have also attempted to reboot both my modem and router to no avail.

I did some testing with a few wireless N routers and then decided to buy a Linksys e 2500 as it was on a special for $66 in Australia.The wireless routers i tested were (Belkin brand new model / Netcomm & Dlink Used ones)1. Netcomm N800n Fastest wireless transfer speed 9MBytes or 72 MBPS.2. Dlink - Around 6MBytes/s or 48MBPS.3. Belkin - Around 4-5 MBytes/secDid not test the Linksys before buying it.4. Linksys E 2500 - around 5MBytes/s = 40MBPS.After all this testing, got a new Linksys believing that a cisco device should have good quality.My problems is that the connection speed on the device stays a 72BPS whereas on the Netcomm / D-link it used to be 130mbps. Not that this bothers me, however the file transfer speed matches the Link status connection speed.The router was placed at exactly the same location, file transfer was checked by transferring large file sizes.Lan setup is1. Only problem is the slow internal transfer between the Main PC and the Media Center PC. Main PC is Core i7 950 where as the Media Centre is a Core 2 Duo e6400GHZ with 4GB Ram. Both PCs running Windows 7 Ultimate (Main PC) , Professional (Media Centre PC). My network knowledge is decent. Is there any settings in the advanced Wireless mode for the Linksys that can make my internal file transfers faster. [code]

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy D-Link DAP-1522 wireless bridge is connected through a single cat5 cable from the LAN port on my PC to the 1st LAN port on the D-link unit. At the moment, it is in bridge mode, with the blue power indicator on, the orange wireless connection light flashing, and the 1st LAN port connection periodically wavering indicating that it is communicating with my PC. When I attempt to configure the DAP-1522 via my internet browser, (IP 192.168.0.50) I get an error saying that the requested webpage does not exist.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently had a networking guy set up a VPN for me, but for it to work properly he had to change all my IP addresses to 192.168.10.xx from 192.168.0.xx. My DAP-1522 (in bridge mode) continued to work but I am unable to log on to it, I think because it's address is 192.168.0.0. I have run into some other issues which makes me think I may need to upgrade the DAP-1522 firmware and/or assign it an address beginning with 192.168.10.xx, however I can't log on to the bridge. (Nor do I know how to change or possible reassign the DAP-1522's address through my router, a DIR-615).

1. the DAP-1522 will not connect to the 5GHz network of the DIR-815. Although, this doesn't surprise me as none of my 5GHz-capable devices see it, other than intermittently and at low signal. It is most likely an issue with the 815's 5GHz radio/network.
2. OTOH, the 1522 does appear to connect to the 815's 2.4GHz network just fine. However, there is no Internet access for any of the devices connected to the 1522's ports.
I know the 1522 can work correctly on 2.4GHz, as it previously did fine with my prior 2Wire router from AT&T. (I've just switched to Comcast, using the DIR-815 connected to their SMC modem.)
Also, I know the router and modem work fine (at least with 2.4GHz), as all of my wireless devices connect easily and with screaming bandwidth to the router and Internet.
I have a WIN XP desktop which I successfully connected to the 1522 AP - as evidence of the GUI to program it. I have the 1522 set to Bridge Mode via the switch on the unit. The 1522 has hardware version B1 and Firmware version 2.000. I joined my wireless network successfully as evidence of the Status page showing it's successfully connected and bridged to my network. I then disabled my USB wifi NIC in hopes of using my hardwired connection to the 1522 to get on the internet.

I have dap-1522 version A Browser IE8 with lestest updates.
I downloaded the DAP1522_FW_1.31zip went I try to upload via the 1522 admin error not correct file.
I try three different way to download it, could the file be bad on dlinks web site?
I have just discovered after three weeks of testing that DAP-1522 wireless bridges are not compatible with all the new Pioneer AVR's that support internet radio and Iphone control. Anytime a DAP-1522 is powered on and on the same subnet mask as a Pioneer receiver it will cause the Pioneer to loose it's connection every 30 minutes. The receiver is then not able to connect unless it is powered off and on again. The DAP-1522 will cause this even if the Pioneer is hardwired to a router and nothing is plugged into the DAP-1522. This affects all new models of Pioneer receivers including the Elite line like I have.
I have tested this with 3 differnet Pioneer receivers and 2 DAP-1522's and always got the same results no matter what the settings were and with the 1522 in AP or bridge mode. Other Pioneer receiver owners experiencing constant disconnect problems on another forum have now also confirmed they have DAP-1522's.....and they are also pissed after spending countless hours troubleshooting.
I talked to Dlink support today and they will not admit to a problem so I can't wait to contact Pioneer tech support on Monday to let them know I have found the reason they are seeing returns on their new receivers (some cost as much as $7K) since many of the new owners like myself are exchanging them thinking they got a bad one. I'm sure Pioneer will test this immediately and force a Dlink fix or turn it over to the FCC.At this point I just wish I could get my money back since I have also already confirmed that a netgear bridge works just fine. Come to think of it, I know Dlink has a new refund policy, but I will check with my state district attorney to see if they can legally keep my money even if the product doesn't work. I don't see anything on the outside of the box with this policy so therfore I wasn't given fair warning of the policy before purchase and would not be expected to know it since it is not industry standard. Let the games begin.
I just purchased a DAP-1522. The sticker on the bottom says it's a version B1, with firmware 2.0.In the web interface, it says: "Firmware Version : 1.21 , Fri 26 Jun 2009"I downloaded the 2.01 firmware from the D-Link site and when I try to upload it, it says it's not an image file.

I have a DIR-655 router with a DAP-1522 connected in bridge mode. The firmware on the router is 1.21 and the firmware on the bridge is 1.21. I have my SSID set to broadcast on the DIR-655 with WPA-Personal encryption. When I initially setup the DAP-1522, I was able to access the setup page and connect to the DIR-655. On the status page of the DAP-1522, wireless radio is enabled and status is connected. I connected my XBOX 360, Sony BR player and DirecTV DVR to the wireless bridge and none of them can connect to the internet.
I can wirelessly access the bridge's IP, 192.168.0.50, from any computer connected to the DIR-655 but when I attempt to access the internet on any device connected to the DAP-1522, I do not get a connection. On the XBOX 360 I cannot connect my live account. On the Sony BR player, I get a message that new firmware was found, but when it attempts to connect to the internet to download it, the connection times out. Same occurs when attempting to access the internet on the DirecTV DVR receiver.
More that a year ago, with guidance from D-Link Customer Service, I performed setup on a system consisting of a DSL-2640B (with wireless disabled) and a DAP-1522 as an access point. I included the 1522 so as to have an N network, since the 2640 is G. The system works fine and I'm able to stream via the 1522 to an N 300 USB Adapter. Internet access is fine, and I'm able to access the 2640 with no problem.I want to add another 300 in a different location. To do that, I'll need to access the 1522 from my Windows 7 computer, since I've lost the passphrase that I'll need for the 300.Everything that I've read tells me to connect the 1522 directly to my computer via cable and to temporarily change the network adapter settinge to:
IP = 192.168.0.x various sources list values of 2 and 99 for x
Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
Gateway = 192.168.0.50
Then to use a browser window to go to 192.168.0.50 Regardless of the settings that I use, the browser (IE9) always indicates that it can't connect with that address. accessing the 1522, or on any alternative way to obtain the passphrase.
My DIR 655 router quit working and so I called D link. She had me reset the ip to 192.168.5.x. So now my dap1522 is not connecting to the 655. I connected the dap1522 to my laptop via ether-net and typed in dink, and got nothing, then put in default ip for the 1522 and still nothing. I also tried ip scanner and it would not come up.

Any others wifi networks around my house. both with FW140b03.bin dated 01/14/2011.Most of the time, both work correctly. But time to time, the wifi link is ko. In AP status, the switch is mentionned connected (uptime = 3 hours ...). The red led is blinking on the switch. The administration web of the switch is not available and the link is ko. Unplug and plug power units doesn't fix the problem. I need to reset DAPs.From Dlink experts, i would like to get more description about issues :
- in switch mode, which are the events modifying the red led state ? what does blinking / off led mean ?
- in AP mode, what does "uptime ...STA ...." mean ? frames are periodically received from STA ?
Will the dap-1522 work with 3d video ie; from a 3d Blue Ray Player? I am upgrading system to an LED Samsung 3D TV and Samsung 3d Blue Ray Player. I know that HDMI 1.4 cables will work but am looking at the wireless option.

How do I know what band is being used and how to switch between the bads.
Under Advanced>DHCP Server, when I put in the Default DNS server of 192.168.0.1 and click save, it goes away. Meaning it doesn't show up anymore.
