The problem I'm seeing is that our wireless connection cuts out about 5 minutes after turning on our main desktop. Turn off the main desktop and wireless begins to work again. Throughout all of this, the wired connection works fine, and I have no problem connecting to the router either.
When my desktop is online via Ethernet, wi-fi stops working. A signal is detected, but is very unstable and often doesn't connect to the Internet at all, on any device. As soon as the desktop is no longer trying to access the Internet, all other wireless connections work without a problem. Base computer is Windows Vista Home Premium with all latest updates installed.Other connections include 2 laptops (one Win7, one PCLinuxOS), 2 Kindle Fire, Wii, iPod Touch, four cell phones, and Sony Media Player. They're never running all at once. But any number of them can run fine-- as long as the desktop isn't online at the time.

Then I have to enable and disable the wireless functionality until it starts seeing nearby wireless networks.

I've connected to the router from a wired computer and everything looks ok from the d-link panel, however its not showing up as an available wireless network on the wireless units. Pulling the power off for 30 seconds tends to get it working again. I'm configured bg and n. I need a mix... an old B laptop, have one machine that has a G NIC, and the rest are N.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with a wireless adaptor on a Toshiba Tecra (A11-1EE - PTSE0E-065052EN) running Windows 7.The wireless adaptor works fine but every now and again it will just stop working. The operating system says that the adaptor is turned off but it isn't. I've checked the driver but it is up to date.I have to disable the driver and then enable it again and then the adaptor begins to work correctly again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThere were 6 computers on the 2.4GHz band, and 2 on the 5GHz.Everytime the people on the 2.4GHz band would get disconnected for no reason, but this router should be able to handle that number easily. After lots of fiddling, like telling people to shut down their phones WiFi, I finally found the culprit:
N and G mixed mode
Even with only Wireless-N devices there would be problems. N-only mode worked well.That is unpractical for me as there are some devices here that are still on Wireless-G, like game consoles and some phones.
I can no longer browse through any browser, or update any programs (even though I am still connected to my wireless router). I have already done a Refresh, but the problem persists
View 2 Replies View RelatedWireless internet connection stops working after anywhere from 10 minutes to two hours, a message pops up telling me it is "impossible to connect to my preferred wireless network", and then it fails to detect any wireless connections at all. The strangest thing is that when I try to "repair" the connection, which used to work, the computer immediately shuts down and restarts itself. It also seems like when I attempt to download something, like a movie for example, the connection fails right away, while if I'm just surfing the web it usually lasts around an hour before stopping. And when I restart the computer again it works perfectly fine at first, like right now, but eventually does the same thing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been using an 802.11 b/g USB wireless network adapter card with my computer to use in conjunction with an AT&T 2Wire router,which is about 20 or 30 feet away off in another room.After about 10 minutes on average, the adapter will stop transferring data suddenly, and it will stay that way for a while. If I do nothing, then sometimes it will start up again after several more minutes, but instead of waiting, I usually will select "Repair" from the Wireless Network Connection pop-up menu, which also works to get it started again. The problem though, naturally, is that after another little while, like about 10 minutes again, it will short out all over again. Sometimes, very rarely, it will stay working for up to maybe an hour, and sometimes, it can short out yet again within a few seconds.

We have had no problems until recently, I called the satellite Internet company(which is a local co.) they told me my router was going out. I bought a new one, problem solved! Right?!? WRONG my husband told me my neighbor just got Internet and has been playing Xbox everyday which coincidently is between the 5:30pm to 10ish pm we have been having issues with our router. What can we do to fix this? Do I have to buy a bigger router? He is not stealing off mine because it is password protected that was changed when new router was setup and programmed. I have been running of a Cisco Linksys E2500 advanced dual band n router. The router is in the same room as the TV accessing it, which we previously had no issue connecting anywhere in the house or garage.

It has been working perfectly for the last few months until yesterday when I noticed none of my wireless devices could connect. The SSID was still being broadcast and my computers that were connected through an ethernet cable were still able to access the internet fine. Eventually I pressed the red reset button on the back of the router, which reset my router name, password, etc. I set everything back up and was able to connect again. Several hours later the wireless stopped working again. When I launched the Cisco Connect software I was prompted to update some software (possibly the router firmware) so I did that. After that I was able to connect to wireless again. This morning I woke up and wireless was not working again. This time I changed the password for the router and then I was able to connect to wireless again. I tried to change the router password back to the original password and I couldn't connect anymore. When I changed the router password back to the new password I could connect again.

I have an E4200 Linksys router. Furthermore I have a desktop running on Windows7 connected to the router with a wire. No problem there. I can connect to the Intenet via the E4200 and a modem.Then I have a notebook also running on Windows7. Until yesterday it was wireless (2,4 GHz) connected to the router and to the Internet, but now I can see the router on the networklist (so there is connection), but it will not make contact to the Internet. If I hook up the notebook with a line to the router it works OK.Then I have an iPad which makes a wireless connection to the Internet (via the router) for the 5 GHz option, but it does not make a connection with the 2,4 GHz option anymore (before yesterday this worked well). I did not change any settings on the Linksys or other network options, Can an update from McAfee make a difference (only for 2,4 GHz?).

The only way to get it to work again is to reboot the router. I’m running the “latest" firmware, which is an oxymoron considering it's been over 12 MONTHS since Linksys updated the code... Which is appalling considering this appears to be their flagship wireless N router.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a bit of trouble with my e4200, It keeps on "dropping" connection, and by dropping I mean it constantly around 3-5 minutes the internet stops working with all my computers, it's connected by wifi with 2 PC's, and 1 PC is wired with an ethernet cable, and I also have 2 mobile devices connected at it. The internet would start working again within 30s, to 1m, but that it drops soon.Methods I've done to fix it:
-Updated firmware to the latest one
-Set the MTU to 1400
-Reset it, (30 second press)
-Rebooted, (Cooled down, doesn't really run hot just a little warm)
-Restored to factore defaults
Right now I have my computer (iMac early 2012 summer purchase) plugged directly into the wall via ethernet cable for internet access. I have only begun doing this in the past week because my E1200 wireless router has stopped working properly. I have reinstalled and reset to factory settings and set up with Cisco Connect and setup manually over the past week troubleshooting every possible way I have ever known how. My internet, obviously, is working. And when I set up the wireless network it connects properly and obtains an IP address and the lights on the back of the unit light up correspondingly and correct. But I cannot connect to the internet via the router, wirelessly or plugged directly into it. Yet when I take the internet cable and plug it straight into my computer it works.Mainly just need to know if this can be fixed or if I need to go return this unit and get a replacement. The router was purchased two months ago and has not had any issues since I first set it up until a couple of weeks ago and my phone is using up all of my cellular data plan without being connected to my wi-fi...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Studio 1557 laptop (purchased in late December 2009) that all of a sudden has lost wireless connection to the internet. Went to use it last night (Thursday) for normal use and no wireless connection at all. Before this issue, there were no problems connecting thru wireless at all...in fact used it Wednesday evening for work/surfing and no problems whatsoever. We are using a Linksys 160N router...have 2 other computers and 2 iPod Touches that are connecting just fine, absolutely no problems. It can connect thru a wired connection with no problems but nothing thru wireless...this is a fairly new router, about 10 days old, but haven't had any issues with it since set-up.
I didn't have much of a chance to do anything about this last night or this morning. I really don't want to bother calling Dell Support either.

I installed two AIR-AP1142N-E-K9 access points, running a fairly simple config, WPA2 PSK, with AES cipher, both the same SSID.The two access points are connected to Cisco 2960G switches, which are in turn connected to each other, again without any fancy config options, no VLAN's ed.
After a random while, varying from 30 minutes to 15 hours, the access points will stop sending/recieving traffic on the ethernet interface.The units don't stop at the same moment, this also varies seemingly random. It's not related to load or the amount of clients (1 to 15).Only turning on one unit doesn't make any difference.
The units keep sending out their SSID, you can associate to them, but the DHCP requests aren't passed on to the DHCP server which is connected to one of the 2960G's.If you wirelessly connect to the AP and set a manual IP adress you can reach the webinterface and telnet/ssh to the access point. The ethernet link is reported as being up on the access point. Also the switch reports a link on the port to which the access point is connected.Resetting the link does have no effect. The log doesn't mention any errors or warnings.Power cycling or reloading the access point will put it back in working order for a varying amount of time.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've tried all sorts of settings, and I'm still holding out that its a setting possibly, but I have a E3500 and devices on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz... Most of them, probably when idle, seem to stop working over WIfi. They still have decent connection, but every internet related request just times out. Disable and reinable the wifi and it works great again.
Could this be defective wifi radios? or could it really be interference? I have it happening on multiple devices. Also, I'm not far away from the router when it occurs, and when I reconnect, it seems to work just fine for a while. Basically the big problem is on the cell phones and tablets because I'll miss notifications... I'll turn off the wifi and turn it back on when I use the device next, then a flood of notifications will come in. Again, it's not just a phone thing, tablets and laptops have the same problem, that's just the main reason I want it fixed.

(My router says Version 1.9).Had this router about a month. It works fine. Using it in Wireless mode wpa2 security. Get excellent speeds. HOWEVER> It freqently drops connectivity and fails to allow wireless clients to connect at all. (You can see the SSID via wireless clients, but not connect to it). To restore it, I have to disconnect from Power, wait a moment, then reconnect to power. It recycles and connections are working again with no problems (UNTIL NEXT TIME). Seems to happen every few days.
I checked the web site and I appear to have the most current firmware.I have a Trendnet router on different channels in another part of the house which has never had this problem. I disconnected it to test if it was somehow involved, but the TP-Link router had same symptoms when it (trendnet) was not connected. Our Actiontec Router (VERIZON provides this as base connectin to them serving the Cable TV DVRs also) ) has its wireless disabled and is the DHCP server provider to the home network. DHCP is disabled on the TP Link.
i have a 876 Router, connected to the Internet and a VPN. From inside i would like to pass all traffic destinied to 192.168.0.0 255.255.255.0 to the VirtualPPP IF and al the other to the Internet (vlan2) I have created this rule, but after applying ist works only for about 30 to 60 seconds. after that only the Internet reachable. Everytime i do a clear ip nat trans * both Interfaces will work für 30 to 60 secs again...

I asked some friends and they seem to have the same problem too but not nearly as often as I do. Every so often, my laptop's wifi just stops working so I turn it off and then turn it back on and it starts working again. My friend says it happens very rarely to him but for me just today it happened 2 times within 10 minutes
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having is that every few hours my TCP/IP protocol stops working. The modem lights remain normal but I can't connect to anything. The only thing that works on the internet is traceroutes at the command prompt which function normally. The solution is that I have to reboot and then everything returns to normal until a few hours later when it happens again. There are no error messages on any of my browsers. The page just goes white immediately. When I try to retrieve my email, I get a message about the TCP/IP isn't working.

The server starts fine, ports are forwarded, firewall is down, modem is fine, but when I receive a connection, it shows they have made a connection, but then they drop, as do I. I can't browse or ping anywhere. I have to physically disconnect, then reconnect the ethernet cable to the port, or restart the computer. Upon ipconfig, the adapter is set with the Windows default ip (169.x.x.x) and cannot be /release'd or /renew'd.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIt's fairly hard to explain what happens but basically, say I'm playing some type of online game, all of a sudden anything server sided such as HP amounts, damage amounts, etc. just disappears but the animation runs fine such as attacking being hit, etc. All of a sudden it'll jump forwards and I'll take any damage and do any damage that had been happening until the issue started. View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter buying a new WNDR370. Sporadically and seemingly without any cause my internet will stop working. Diagnostic will always report it as "DNS Server is not responding." I've also discovered that if I enter my router settings and even just switch the DNS settings from Auto to manual or vice versa the problem corrects itself instantly-then next time it happens I just need to do it again.
I've already tried resetting my entire network and rebuilding the recommended way. Modem, Router, then computers-connecting each only after the prior has finished initializing. Hasn't worked though.
Currently I have my main rig connected directly to the modem to try and find out if I experience the problem at all this way, this is a pain in the ass though, and I don't know when long enough is long enough as the issue is completely random and simply just may not happen.
Running Comcast Business Class in my restaurant. I have a Mac Pro PowerPC G5 tower running OSX: 10.5.8. The Comcast guy hooked everything up along with the WRT54g i found in the basement (previous owner). Everything worked well, he programed the router through his internet pad; never touched my Mac. All of a sudden my power outlet in which my modem and router are connected reset themselves. I reset them back on, however, my router Never worked again. My mac is directly connected to my modem, not router. I have it hooked up on LAN #4 (light turns on), however, after the outlet reset, the router wont even show up on my Modem's LAN. I cant open it open it on my browser, 192.168.0.1, or 1.1. I try the 30-30-30 reset, nothing. While looking for my own remedy, i think i downloaded the new firmware to my mac, nothing happened.
