View 8 RepliesJust got an EA6500 - updated to the latest available firmware.I've attached 2 x WD NAS and 1 x WD via USB to the unit.Everytime AFTER I finished running Time Machine on the MacBookPro (writing to one of the WD NAS), I can no longer login to the router neither from the local IP address nor the cisco cloud connect. The error message that I get (loosely phrased) is: can't connect to Router. Please ensure the router is connected to the internet.

I have 2 Dell computers; a desktop and a laptop which I use wirelessly in the house.After doing several things from disconnecting the router to try and determine if the problem was with my router or an ethernet cable AT&T determined a port on my router which is 6 years old could be going bad and recommended I replace my router.I contacted Linksys yesterday; spoke to tech support for my WRT54G router and was given 2 model recommendations. One was a Model E900 N300 and a more expensive model; an EA2700 N600. There is a price difference of $40.00 USD between the 2 models. I could probably get by with the E900 N300 for $49.99 but the guy at Linksys was putting the pressure on me to buy the more expensive one for $89.99. I told him I'd have to think about it.

I have a Win 7 machine with Win SBS 2011 in my office and an iMac. The Win machine is being setup for Exchange 2010. My problem is this: I can't Remote Desktop in from my iMac into the Win machine, but CAN when outside the network.The Win7 machine has a static IP, the iMac a dynamic. When I access the internal part of my router I can only see my iMac. I get a "can't connect to win-based machine" error when I try to Remote Connect.The only thing I can think is that using the same gateway is somehow messing things up? I've had two techs try to figure this out and they're both stumped.I was maybe thinking that since both comps are going out the same gateway that I should try anc configure the iMac to try and RDC on a different port, since maybe the iMac is listening on 3389 and sending the RDC back to itself?

I have several wireless devices around the house that can connect fine, so I know that it is not the internet. I have tried a system restore, I have reset the router and rebooted the computer. The network diagnostics says there might be a problem with one or more network adapters on this computer....I have tried all of those solutions as well. When I look at the device manager I see a yellow exclamation point beside "isatap.domain.invalid". Does this mean that my network card is out??? Computer is now out of warranty

View 3 Replies View RelatedBoth run Win 7; both use lan conections to the same router (Linksys 310N). Both get to the internet. And while the network map shows both of them, they are both unreachable. BUT NOT ALWAYS. Sometimes, maybe after several hours of uptime, they can access eachother. And the printers, which are wired into the desktop, then can be used by the notebook. BUT not always. Like now, all my printers are "offline" as far as the notebook is concerned.There are also wireless connections but currently I don't use them. Both machines are on the same-named connection. Homegroup doesn't work at all on either computer. I would really like to print from the notebook. All the printers are wired into the desktop. All are shared. Yesterday I could print from the notebook. On occasion, the homegroup shows both computers but hasn't for a while. In File Explorer, on the notebook, not even the notebook appears under the Network icon.

No internet output from WRT54G wired or wireless, but wireless network is recognized by computer, just no internet. I did a reset and installed the latest firmware, then I ran thru the setup CD that came withe the router, and the internet test said no internet connection was available. Cables are fine, connector innards look clean.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E2000 router that is connected to my cable modem. I have a desktop computer that is connected to the router via an ethernet cable, and two laptops in the house that connect wirelessly to the router to get internet access.
This morning, all devices were connected to the internet just fine. I stepped away for a few hours and during that time the desktop 'lost' its internet connection. I have tried re-booting the router and removing-reconnecting the ethernet cable but nothing is restoring the connection.
The fact that my wireless devices are connecting means my internet service is fine, right? So what is preventing the desktop from gaining a connection?
I have the e4200 and I am having trouble getting DHCP reservation to work properly with my Windows 7 machines. Perhaps there is a step that I am missing. Basically I go to the DHCP reservation setup page, select my machine and add it to the reservation table. Then I save the changes. As soon as I do this my computer goes offline. If I reboot my machine, it is still offline. I've tried the same procedure to reserve the IP address for my phone and it works fine so I wonder if the problem is with Win7.

Last week, the wired network stopped working. I checked the wiring and plugged my wire into all four of the ports in the back of the router with no success. I followed the troubleshooting procedure that I found and changed the MTU setting. I tried to update the firmware but the screen seemed to lock up and I was unable to complete the task.

VPN is required to permit the two branch offices to use Avaya IP phones to connect to our main head office switchboard.We also have users on Blackberry and Apple iPhones to collect their mail through OWA from our Exchange 2010 server.
I've noticed in one of your threads that the RV042 routers configured for VPN do not permit the use of HTTPS to connect to OWA and that seems to be the problem for us. Since installing the VPN our OWA access is not possible.
What can I do to resolve this problem and what router would you suggest that I could use at the head office to enable the two branches to connect VPN to head office? And if there is a suitable router, would I need to replace all three?
Trouble is, it's not finding the wifi at all.

My desktop doesn't have a wireless adapter I always had it set up on a direct connection. So I went to the E3000 support and downloaded the software on my laptop and burned it to a DVD and put it in my desktop so I could update the drivers manually and be able to connect to the internet. But it seems the software only supported wireless connections, am I just sol? Is there some way to get my desktop to update the drivers for the router?

I notice running about 30 plus feet connection does not work. When I cut off about 5 feet it worked. Seems I can only run a ceratin amount of cable length with this router.
First time VPN newbie. I need to set up vpn for a friends small business using RV082 so, as a test, I set it up here at my home using a very basic config. The network topology looks like:
cloud => cable modem => RV082 => DIR655 => win7 PC
At a remote site, I fire up QUICKVPN, enter necessary data and successfully connect. Bring up Remote Desktop and put in the IP of my home pc and the logon username and, after a minute or two, it says "unable to connect to the computer" (or words to that effect). My home PC has been configured to allow remote desktop connections and this has occured in the past but not since the RV082 installation. There is nothing in the PC's logs nor in the RV082's logs.
I have a strange error on my home network that I cannot find a solution to.I have an Huawei SmartAX MT882 from TalkTalk acting as a modem connected to a D-Link DSL-G624T acting as a router/switch. Connected to the D-Link I have a Windows 7 Pro machine (64-bit, SP1) and an XP (home i think) machine (sp 2 i think).The SmartAX modem is set up to perform DHCP and DNS relaying and the D-Link has DHCP turned off and DNS relay turned off.The Win7 machine can access the network, get an IP address and access the internet without problems, regardless as to the status of the XP machine.The XP machine can access the network, get an IP address and access the internet with no problems ONLY of the win7 is powered up. View 8 Replies View RelatedNew Win-7 machine set up. I used the printer set-up wizard to install a networked printer in the new machine with absolutely no problem. Proved it would print from that machine.Now, I get a call informing me that her old XP machine, which had been printing to the network printer with no problems, will no longer print.Documents go into the print queue, but they don't get printed.No error messages show up.I did some messing around via remote access, and finally removed the printer with the intention of reinstalling it.Scanning for network printers turned up several redundant instances of the same printer with different names. Some are identified as "invalid" some a "access denied". Bottom line. I can't get any of the selections to install.On the Win-7 machine I did find a window that indicated that the printer is designated as being shared, but I didn't explicitly set it for sharing when I installed it. Also, I somehow got to a window that told me that for printers that were to be shared with other versions of windows I could optionally install drivers to support such machines. Didn't have the driver disk handy and took the window down. Now I can't even find it again.I need sorting this all out.Part of the problem is that out there in "network land" there are redundant remnants of previous installations that are being remembered inappropriately.
