I have Lynksys router WRT54G. I have 3 laptops in house connecting to internet with no problem. A new person has moved in with a laptop that has windows 2000. The new person is not able to get an internet connection.
View 9 RepliesI have just purchased a new EA3500 router and have fairly painlessly managed to get my desktop (running Windows XP), my lap top (running Windows 7), ipads 1 and 2 and blackberry all to connect to the wireless hub. I even have it talking to a WD 1T external hard drive.
BUT try as I might I can't get an old sony vaio running windows 2000 professional to connect to the internet. It talkes to the box and even allows the lap top to hop on as a guest but it goes through to a guest sign on web page and no matter what combination of passwords (i am sure i have the write guest sign on) it just refuses to actually connect. I never had a problem connection to our previous wireles router.
I my parents have a WRT54G linksys router, they have a DSL modem. Everything was working fine with the wireless network until one random day POOF! the wireless no longer would connect on laptops. However, the internet is working just fine with the computer that is hardwired up throught the router. Since this is working it lets me know that the router is working fine and routing the connection through hardwire. Hard wired works on laptops but all laptops are unable to join the network and most of the time it will not show up in the list of available networks.Even my iphone wont connect saying unable to join network. We bought a brand new linksys router and same problem. I then took his old router to my house and hooked it up...and WOW it works as it should all devices can connect...even my iphone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedChecked cable router (brighthouse), working. Router (all lights on but network traffic flashing indicates one way traffic). So I go to my wife's computer. It too has no connection. I open my laptop to connect to the wireless, IT WORKS! Pull power on Cable Modem and Router, wait 60 secs, power up Cable Modem and then power up Router (I know it wasn't nec to do modem but I wanted a clean start). Wireless is still working, no LAN. I can't even connect 192.168.1.1. Linksys software says it can't detect the modem. Reset time, hit the magic button in the back and sure enough everything stops working (which I figured). Still can't connect to it, and now I've lost wireless. I connect computer directly to Cable Modem and type this message. Seems to me that Router has failed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIm running a linksys wireless router, WRT54G V6 with firmware 1.02.8. It worked before I moved after I moved I can't connect via wireless. hard line works. i've tried resting to factor, i've tried not using ses, not using custom ssid. I've rest it like 5 times retarted the computers. I've hit the little cisco systems button on the front, this makes it work for a few minutes. When I hit the button it will go out then come back on white, and blink around 1-2 blinks per second, it will do this for maybe 1-2min. then stops and changes back to orange. and i get nothing from it. the WLAN light is on like it's working but I cannot detect it with my desktop or laptop, can i can detect 3 other routers around me. I've tried pretty much everything i know to do, tried flashing it, updating, about the only option i have left is throwing it out the window.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOS - Vista Home Premium x32 I have a modem (Comcast) connected to my router (Linksys wireless-g /wrt54g v6) connected to my desktop which runs Vista.recently i am unable to connect to internet using my desktop, but I am still able to use my wireless devices such as wii, laptop, phone, ipad etc. with problem When I first boot up computer I receive error UPnP device host has stopped working. I close that and I have no network connections (linksys or LAN connections-icons) in my network and sharing area. Nothing is listed. When i click diagnose issue i receive the follow error A CABLE IS NOT PLUGGED INTO THE NETWORK ADAPTER "LOCAL AREA CONNECTION* 12" I have changed ethernet cords but still the same error. No IP address is listed.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis was for a WRT160n v3.0.02 I looked up several suggestions online and decided to update the firmware to v3.0.03 This seemed to only make it worse as I could no longer connect, and when I turned the router off and back on it would allow me in for about a minute and drop me right away.I started tweaking with the settings, and came across some posts here such as this one, started tweaking with the channel settings and everything. Nothing. If anything I somehow made it worse since now instead of dropping repeatedly it wouldn't connect at all except for about a minute after restarting router, then it would drop completely (I would either get the limited access notification or I simply couldn't connect and windows said to unplug the access point. I recalled I had another Linksys router that I wasn't using in storage, a WRT54G2v 1.0.01 so I set that up, no problems... at first. All other devices picked it up right away, but once again, my new laptop decides it's too good for the freaking network and drops it repeatedly telling me there's a problem with the access point.
So at this point I'm thinking it might NOT be my network, but my wireless card or something, I uninstalled and reinstalled, updated drivers, (I use a Realtek RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC) I even came across this article and disabled browser service and NETBios (including all other devices on my network). It brought back the network on my laptop for a bit, only to smugly come crashing down again.
Have a Compaq laptop and Gateway desktop computer. Laptop has Windows 7, desktop Windows Vista. Got a new Cisco Linksys wireless router, and trying to figure out how to set this up. Do I use the Linksys CD in the laptop or the desktop? Have DSL. Right now, the Linksys is set up on the desktop, and all is well, but need to get the laptop able to connect to internet through router. Do I need to uninstall Linksys on desktop and install it on laptop?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had this card working on this notebook with Windows XP, but with only 256mb ram it ran too slow. So I went back to 2000 on it. But I can't get the card to work, I've tried using the setup, the link light on the card does flash on and off. But in the linksys program just says no association with access point and says WPC54GS is inactive. I tried just installing the driver when it detects it but that didn't work. Also I try to start the wireless configuration and just get error 1747 the authentication service is unknown. What do I need to do to get the card working on here so I have internet access?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought this wireless g pci card and installed the software from the cd on to a windows 2000 pc. When I went to run the software I can only click on the exit button. I looked on the forums and saw that for win 2000 you should only install the drivers by allowing your computer to detect the card. I uninstalled the software but my computer wont detect the card now and if I reinstall the software I cant even open it up anymore. The card is not listed in the device manager at all. Would installing i the first time have created anything in the registry that would have been left behind in the uninstall and would it be blocking the computer from detecting this as new hardware?

About a week ago my three year old son managed to reset the router (I'm still not sure how). When I go onto the web-based setup page I am unable to change the wireless security setting. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install a WMP54G PCI Version 4.1 in my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 computer. I ran the setup cd before installing the card, then took out the disk. After installing the card and powering the computer, the Available Wireless Network screen didn't appear. I also didn't get the Network Monitor icon on the taskbar. Network Monitor appears in the start menu, but can't be started. Device Manager says the card is working properly and there are no conflicts.
I uninstalled the software, removed the card, and repeated the installation process with the same end result. The card light blinks like it is receiving data. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G2 router. Both my desktop (W7) and my laptop (Vista) connect just fine. How can I get my W2K computer on the network?
I am unable to login to my router ? I have tried to reset my router and am still unable to login to the online control panel. The steps that I went about resetting the router were pushing the reset button for 30 seconds. That did not work so I pushed the reset button for 30 seconds, unplugged the router while continuing to hold the reset button for 30 seconds, plugged the router back in while holding the reset for 30 seconds.
