Linksys Wireless Adapters :: Windows 2000 Pro SP4 WPC54GS Ver.2 No Connection

Jan 24, 2013

I had this card working on this notebook with Windows XP, but with only 256mb ram it ran too slow. So I went back to 2000 on it. But I can't get the card to work, I've tried using the setup, the link light on the card does flash on and off. But in the linksys program just says no association with access point and says WPC54GS is inactive. I tried just installing the driver when it detects it but that didn't work. Also I try to start the wireless configuration and just get error 1747 the authentication service is unknown. What do I need to do to get the card working on here so I have internet access?

Linksys Wireless Adapters ::Windows 2000 PC Can't Detect WMP54G

Nov 30, 2009

I just bought this wireless g pci card and installed the software from the cd on to a windows 2000 pc.  When I went to run the software I can only click on the exit button.  I looked on the forums and saw that for win 2000 you should only install the drivers by allowing your computer to detect the card.  I uninstalled the software but my computer wont detect the card now and if I reinstall the software I cant even open it up anymore.  The card is not listed in the device manager at all.  Would installing i the first time have created anything in the registry that would  have been left behind in the uninstall and would it be blocking the computer from detecting this as new hardware?

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: Install WMP54G PCI Version 4.1 In Windows 2000 Pro SP4 Computer?

Mar 26, 2011

I'm trying to install a WMP54G PCI Version 4.1 in my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 computer.  I ran the setup cd before installing the card, then took out the disk.  After installing the card and powering the computer, the Available Wireless Network screen didn't appear.  I also didn't get the Network Monitor icon on the taskbar.  Network Monitor appears in the start menu, but can't be started.  Device Manager says the card is working properly and there are no conflicts.

I uninstalled the software, removed the card, and repeated the installation process with the same end result.  The card light blinks like it is receiving data.  I'm using a Linksys WRT54G2 router.  Both my desktop (W7) and my laptop (Vista) connect just fine.  How can I get my W2K computer on the network?

Is the power light only light up when its also installed and recogised by the computer? or does it have to light up from the moment its connected to the slot? we couldn't also find it at the device manager:

the network adapters we found are, i think, the build in ones. at what folder at the hardware tree had the card in de bus has to appear? i dont know what the only device thats not recognised here, must be, but we cant install it with the cdrom of the cisco card, so i dont thing it is the cisco card?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Windows 2000 Laptop Not Connecting To EA3500

Sep 16, 2012

I have just purchased a new EA3500 router and have fairly painlessly managed to get my desktop (running Windows XP), my lap top (running Windows 7), ipads 1 and 2 and blackberry all to connect to the wireless hub. I even have it talking to a WD 1T external hard drive.

BUT try as I might I can't get an old sony vaio running windows 2000 professional to connect to the internet. It talkes to the box and even allows the lap top to hop on as a guest but it goes through to a guest sign on web page and no matter what combination of passwords (i am sure i have the write guest sign on) it just refuses to actually connect. I never had a problem connection to our previous wireles router.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: Upgrading WUSB54G To Windows 7?

Jul 9, 2012

We've been getting broadband through a WRT54G v2.2 router into numerous computers with WUSB54G v4 wireless adapters into winXP PC's for years now, but I've recently got a 64bit Win7 PC which needs internet connection. I spent all day today trying to find drivers, workarounds and god knows what for the WUSB54G v4 which (I'm pretty sure now ) don't exist for a 64bit system.

How do I get internet into this Windows 7 PC? Will I just need to get a new adapter? (and will it be compatible with the current router?) I don't especially want to get a new router and several new adapters just because we have one new Win7 PC... If I do just need to get a new adapter, in terms of performance/compatibility?

Oh, and how ancient is the hardware we actually have, and does/will it effect the internet in any way?

Device manager reports everything is fine, but i can't find the adapter anywhere in the Network and Sharing Center on both machines, not even if i run ipconfig it won't show up. As a result of course there is no wireless connection available. Although adapter has worked fine when tested under win7 x32. But win7 x32 is not my case.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WUSB54G Compatibility With Windows 7?

Oct 23, 2009

I've noticed that my WUSB54GSC is completely unsupported by Windows 7, nor has Linksys published any new drivers.  From browsing these forums and the internet, many other Linksys users are experiencing much trouble with getting their wireless adapters to work with Windows 7.So please, Cisco, publish new Windows 7 drivers...  I'm completely taken back that there is nothing to do with Windows 7 anywhere on your site, and disappointed at none of your products being ready for the new Operating System.  Im stuck with a useless router.  I've tried for hours and hours to try random fixes i found on the internet, force install drivers preloaded on Windows 7, and force install the out of date Linksys drivers....to no avail.  I still need to activate my Windows 7 online, and i can't activate it if my wireless adapter doesn't work.  I will keep this in mind when i purchase routers/adapters in the future.   I've already tried using the ra-link drivers to get my adapter working, but every time i get a "code 10" error stating that "This device cannot start".  Any driver that i do install from Windows 7 pre loaded drivers ends up giving me that error.  And all the out-of-date linksys drivers don't even successfully install the drivers...

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WMP54GX PCI - No Drivers Available For Windows 7

Nov 16, 2009

So I have a (relatively) old WMP54GX PCI adapter that used to work great under XP.  However I moved and was able to put my computer right next to my router so I no longer needed to use the adapter.  Fast forward about three years later, I now have Windows 7 installed and need to use to adapter again, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working.  The drivers never seem to finish installing after reboot, and I'm not sure what I should be doing.  I noticed the most "recent" driver was released in 2006, so it doesn't look like there's even one available for Vista, let alone Windows 7.

Am I looking in the wrong place for the drivers, or is Linksys really not supporting their slightly older hardware on new operating systems?  If there are no drivers available, any ways to get it working in Windows 7?

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: How To Install WUSB600N Adapter With Windows 7

Nov 8, 2009

I am running Windows 7 with the WUSB600N (v.2). Here is how I got it to work. The driver support is not a .exe. You will have to install it yourself...but it's not a big deal.Download the Windows 7 driver for your OS version from the Linksys Support page.Save it to the desktop and then unzip it to the desktop so you can find it easier.Once unzipped you will see 3 folders:  Mac, Win7 32 and Win7 64. Choose accordingly. What I did was install it through the "Device Manager". (Right click "My Computer", choose "Manage", then Device Manager",or use the "Search Bar under the Start Menu...whatever. Once you are in the Device Manager...

1. Make sure your WUSB600N is inserted in your computer.

2. Navigate down to "Network Adapters" If you see your WUSB600N adapter...great! Your halfway home!

3. Right click on the "Linksys WUSB600N Adapter.

4. Choose the option to " Update Driver Software"

5. Choose "Browse My Computer for Software"

6. Navigate to the desktop and choose the folder  that contains the name of your Windows 7 platform.

7. It should update but, HOLD ON! We are not done yet!!!

In order for it to start transmitting in that shiny new 5GHZ band, you must go into "Network and Sharing Center". Once there, look on the left hand side of the main window and you will see "Change adapter settings"Go there. You should see here that your existing adapter is still working (enabled) and your new Linksys WUSB600N has a big fat red "X" under it (disabled).Right click on your  existing adapter and choose, "DISABLE".Then, right click on the WUSB600N adapter and choose "ENABLE".The last thing you should have to do is choose the network you want to connect to (for me it was the 5GHZ one) ..and Viola!!
